1.    It happened after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, "Abraham!" He said, "Here I am."     And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.     ויהי  אחר  הדברים 
האלה  והאלהים  נסה
את־אברהם  ויאמר
אליו  אברהם  ויאמר
הנני׃
    VYHY 'aChUr HDBUrYM H'aLH VH'aLHYM NSH 'aTh-'aBUrHM VY'aMUr 'aLYV 'aBUrHM VY'aMUr HNNY.     And it cometh to pass after these things that God hath tried Abraham, and saith unto him, `Abraham;` and he saith, `Here am I.`     quae postquam gesta sunt temptavit Deus Abraham et dixit ad eum Abraham ille respondit adsum
 
2.    He said, "Now take your son, your only son, whom you love, even Isaac, and go into the land of Moriah. Offer him there for a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will tell you of."     And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.     ויאמר  קח־נא 
את־בנך  את־יחידך
אשר־אהבת  את־יצחק
ולך־לך  אל־ארץ
המריה  והעלהו  שם
לעלה  על  אחד  ההרים
אשר  אמר  אליך׃
    VY'aMUr QCh-N'a 'aTh-BNK 'aTh-YChYDK 'aShUr-'aHBTh 'aTh-YTShChQ VLK-LK 'aL-'aUrTSh HMUrYH VH'yLHV ShM L'yLH 'yL 'aChD HHUrYM 'aShUr 'aMUr 'aLYK.     And He saith, `Take, I pray thee, thy son, thine only one, whom thou hast loved, even Isaac, and go for thyself unto the land of Moriah, and cause him to ascend there for a burnt-offering on one of the mountains of which I speak unto thee.`     ait ei tolle filium tuum unigenitum quem diligis Isaac et vade in terram Visionis atque offer eum ibi holocaustum super unum montium quem monstravero tibi
 
3.    Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son. He split the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went to the place of which God had told him.     And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.     וישכם  אברהם  בבקר 
ויחבש  את־חמרו
ויקח  את־שני  נעריו
אתו  ואת  יצחק  בנו
ויבקע  עצי  עלה
ויקם  וילך
אל־המקום
אשר־אמר־לו
האלהים׃
    VYShKM 'aBUrHM BBQUr VYChBSh 'aTh-ChMUrV VYQCh 'aTh-ShNY N'yUrYV 'aThV V'aTh YTShChQ BNV VYBQ'y 'yTShY 'yLH VYQM VYLK 'aL-HMQVM 'aShUr-'aMUr-LV H'aLHYM.     And Abraham riseth early in the morning, and saddleth his ass, and taketh two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and he cleaveth the wood of the burnt-offering, and riseth and goeth unto the place of which God hath spoken to him.     igitur Abraham de nocte consurgens stravit asinum suum ducens secum duos iuvenes et Isaac filium suum cumque concidisset ligna in holocaustum abiit ad locum quem praeceperat ei Deus
 
4.    On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place far off.     Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.     ביום  השלישי  וישא

    BYVM HShLYShY VYSh'a 'aBUrHM 'aTh-'yYNYV VYUr'a 'aTh-HMQVM MUrChQ.     On the third day -- Abraham lifteth up his eyes, and seeth the place from afar;     die autem tertio elevatis oculis vidit locum procul
 
5.    Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go yonder. We will worship, and come back to you."     And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.     ויאמר  אברהם 
אל־נעריו  שבו־לכם
פה  עם־החמור  ואני
והנער  נלכה  עד־  כה
ונשתחוה  ונשובה
אליכם׃
    VY'aMUr 'aBUrHM 'aL-N'yUrYV ShBV-LKM PhH 'yM-HChMVUr V'aNY VHN'yUr NLKH 'yD- KH VNShThChVH VNShVBH 'aLYKM.     and Abraham saith unto his young men, `Remain by yourselves here with the ass, and I and the youth go yonder and worship, and turn back unto you.`     dixitque ad pueros suos expectate hic cum asino ego et puer illuc usque properantes postquam adoraverimus revertemur ad vos
 
6.    Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. He took in his hand the fire and the knife. They both went together.     And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.     ויקח  אברהם  את־עצי 
העלה  וישם  על־יצחק
בנו  ויקח  בידו
את־האש  ואת־
המאכלת  וילכו
שניהם  יחדו׃
    VYQCh 'aBUrHM 'aTh-'yTShY H'yLH VYShM 'yL-YTShChQ BNV VYQCh BYDV 'aTh-H'aSh V'aTh- HM'aKLTh VYLKV ShNYHM YChDV.     And Abraham taketh the wood of the burnt-offering, and placeth on Isaac his son, and he taketh in his hand the fire, and the knife; and they go on both of them together.     tulit quoque ligna holocausti et inposuit super Isaac filium suum ipse vero portabat in manibus ignem et gladium cumque duo pergerent simul
 
7.    Isaac spoke to Abraham his father, and said, "My father?" He said, "Here I am, my son." He said, "Here is the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?"     And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?     ויאמר  יצחק 
אל־אברהם  אביו
ויאמר  אבי  ויאמר
הנני  בני  ויאמר
הנה  האש  והעצים
ואיה  השה  לעלה׃
    VY'aMUr YTShChQ 'aL-'aBUrHM 'aBYV VY'aMUr 'aBY VY'aMUr HNNY BNY VY'aMUr HNH H'aSh VH'yTShYM V'aYH HShH L'yLH.     And Isaac speaketh unto Abraham his father, and saith, `My father,` and he saith, `Here am I, my son.` And he saith, `Lo, the fire and the wood, and where the lamb for a burnt-offering?`     dixit Isaac patri suo pater mi at ille respondit quid vis fili ecce inquit ignis et ligna ubi est victima holocausti
 
8.    Abraham said, "God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son." So they both went together.     And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.     ויאמר  אברהם  אלהים 
יראה־לו  השה  לעלה
בני  וילכו  שניהם
יחדו׃
    VY'aMUr 'aBUrHM 'aLHYM YUr'aH-LV HShH L'yLH BNY VYLKV ShNYHM YChDV.     and Abraham saith, `God doth provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt-offering, my son;` and they go on both of them together.     dixit Abraham Deus providebit sibi victimam holocausti fili mi pergebant ergo pariter
 
9.    They came to the place which God had told him of. Abraham built the altar there, and laid the wood in order, bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, on the wood.     And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.     ויבאו  אל־המקום 
אשר  אמר־לו  האלהים
ויבן  שם  אברהם
את־המזבח  ויערך
את־העצים  ויעקד
את־יצחק  בנו  וישם
אתו  על־המזבח  ממעל
לעצים׃
    VYB'aV 'aL-HMQVM 'aShUr 'aMUr-LV H'aLHYM VYBN ShM 'aBUrHM 'aTh-HMZBCh VY'yUrK 'aTh-H'yTShYM VY'yQD 'aTh-YTShChQ BNV VYShM 'aThV 'yL-HMZBCh MM'yL L'yTShYM.     And they come in unto the place of which God hath spoken to him, and there Abraham buildeth the altar, and arrangeth the wood, and bindeth Isaac his son, and placeth him upon the altar above the wood;     veneruntque ad locum quem ostenderat ei Deus in quo aedificavit altare et desuper ligna conposuit cumque conligasset Isaac filium suum posuit eum in altari super struem lignorum
 
10.    Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to kill his son.     And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.     וישלח  אברהם 
את־ידו  ויקח
את־המאכלת  לשחט
את־בנו׃
    VYShLCh 'aBUrHM 'aTh-YDV VYQCh 'aTh-HM'aKLTh LShChT 'aTh-BNV.     and Abraham putteth forth his hand, and taketh the knife -- to slaughter his son.     extenditque manum et arripuit gladium ut immolaret filium
 
11.    The angel of Yahweh called to him out of the sky, and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" He said, "Here I am."     And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.     ויקרא  אליו  מלאך 
יהוה  מן־השמים
ויאמר  אברהם  אברהם
ויאמר  הנני׃
    VYQUr'a 'aLYV ML'aK YHVH MN-HShMYM VY'aMUr 'aBUrHM 'aBUrHM VY'aMUr HNNY.     And the messenger of Jehovah calleth unto him from the heavens, and saith, `Abraham, Abraham;` and he saith, `Here am I;`     et ecce angelus Domini de caelo clamavit dicens Abraham Abraham qui respondit adsum
 
12.    He said, "Don't lay your hand on the boy, neither do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me."     And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.     ויאמר  אל־תשלח  ידך 
אל־הנער  ואל־תעש
לו  מאומה  כי  עתה
ידעתי  כי־  ירא
אלהים  אתה  ולא
חשכת  את־בנך
את־יחידך  ממני׃
    VY'aMUr 'aL-ThShLCh YDK 'aL-HN'yUr V'aL-Th'ySh LV M'aVMH KY 'yThH YD'yThY KY- YUr'a 'aLHYM 'aThH VL'a ChShKTh 'aTh-BNK 'aTh-YChYDK MMNY.     and He saith, `Put not forth thine hand unto the youth, nor do anything to him, for now I have known that thou art fearing God, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only one, from Me.`     dixitque ei non extendas manum tuam super puerum neque facias illi quicquam nunc cognovi quod timeas Dominum et non peperceris filio tuo unigenito propter me
 
13.    Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and saw that behind him was a ram caught in the thicket by his horns. Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering instead of his son.     And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.     וישא  אברהם 
את־עיניו  וירא
והנה־איל  אחר  נאחז
בסבך  בקרניו  וילך
אברהם  ויקח
את־האיל  ויעלהו
לעלה  תחת  בנו׃
    VYSh'a 'aBUrHM 'aTh-'yYNYV VYUr'a VHNH-'aYL 'aChUr N'aChZ BSBK BQUrNYV VYLK 'aBUrHM VYQCh 'aTh-H'aYL VY'yLHV L'yLH ThChTh BNV.     And Abraham lifteth up his eyes, and looketh, and lo, a ram behind, seized in a thicket by its horns; and Abraham goeth, and taketh the ram, and causeth it to ascend for a burnt-offering instead of his son;     levavit Abraham oculos viditque post tergum arietem inter vepres herentem cornibus quem adsumens obtulit holocaustum pro filio
 
14.    Abraham called the name of that place Yahweh Will Provide{or, Yahweh-Jireh, or, Yahweh-Seeing}. As it is said to this day, "On Yahweh's mountain, it will be provided."     And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.     ויקרא  אברהם 
שם־המקום  ההוא
יהוה  יראה  אשר
יאמר  היום  בהר
יהוה  יראה׃
    VYQUr'a 'aBUrHM ShM-HMQVM HHV'a YHVH YUr'aH 'aShUr Y'aMUr HYVM BHUr YHVH YUr'aH.     and Abraham calleth the name of that place `Jehovah-Jireh,` because it is said this day in the mount, `Jehovah doth provide.`     appellavitque nomen loci illius Dominus videt unde usque hodie dicitur in monte Dominus videbit
 
15.    The angel of Yahweh called to Abraham a second time out of the sky,     And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,     ויקרא  מלאך  יהוה 
אל־אברהם  שנית
מן־השמים׃
    VYQUr'a ML'aK YHVH 'aL-'aBUrHM ShNYTh MN-HShMYM.     And the messenger of Jehovah calleth unto Abraham a second time from the heavens,     vocavit autem angelus Domini Abraham secundo de caelo dicens
 
16.    and said, "I have sworn by myself, says Yahweh, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son,     And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:     ויאמר  בי  נשבעתי 
נאם־יהוה  כי  יען
אשר  עשית  את־הדבר
הזה  ולא  חשכת
את־בנך  את־יחידך׃
    VY'aMUr BY NShB'yThY N'aM-YHVH KY Y'yN 'aShUr 'yShYTh 'aTh-HDBUr HZH VL'a ChShKTh 'aTh-BNK 'aTh-YChYDK.     and saith, `By Myself I have sworn -- the affirmation of Jehovah -- that because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only one --     per memet ipsum iuravi dicit Dominus quia fecisti rem hanc et non pepercisti filio tuo unigenito
 
17.    that I will bless you greatly, and I will multiply your seed greatly like the stars of the heavens, and like the sand which is on the seashore. Your seed will possess the gate of his enemies.     That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;     כי־ברך  אברכך 
והרבה  ארבה
את־זרעך  ככוכבי
השמים  וכחול  אשר
על־  שפת  הים  וירש
זרעך  את  שער
איביו׃
    KY-BUrK 'aBUrKK VHUrBH 'aUrBH 'aTh-ZUr'yK KKVKBY HShMYM VKChVL 'aShUr 'yL- ShPhTh HYM VYUrSh ZUr'yK 'aTh Sh'yUr 'aYBYV.     that blessing I bless thee, and multiplying I multiply thy seed as stars of the heavens, and as sand which is on the sea-shore; and thy seed doth possess the gate of his enemies;     benedicam tibi et multiplicabo semen tuum sicut stellas caeli et velut harenam quae est in litore maris possidebit semen tuum portas inimicorum suorum
 
18.    In your seed will all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice."     And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.     והתברכו  בזרעך  כל 
גויי  הארץ  עקב  אשר
שמעת  בקלי׃
    VHThBUrKV BZUr'yK KL GVYY H'aUrTSh 'yQB 'aShUr ShM'yTh BQLY.     and blessed themselves in thy seed have all nations of the earth, because that thou hast hearkened to My voice.`     et benedicentur in semine tuo omnes gentes terrae quia oboedisti voci meae
 
19.    So Abraham returned to his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba. Abraham lived at Beersheba.     So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba.     וישב  אברהם 
אל־נעריו  ויקמו
וילכו  יחדו  אל־באר
שבע  וישב  אברהם
בבאר  שבע׃
    VYShB 'aBUrHM 'aL-N'yUrYV VYQMV VYLKV YChDV 'aL-B'aUr ShB'y VYShB 'aBUrHM BB'aUr ShB'y.     And Abraham turneth back unto his young men, and they rise and go together unto Beer-Sheba; and Abraham dwelleth in Beer-Sheba.     reversus est Abraham ad pueros suos abieruntque Bersabee simul et habitavit ibi
 
20.    It happened after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, "Behold, Milcah, she also has borne children to your brother Nahor:     And it came to pass after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah, she hath also born children unto thy brother Nahor;     ויהי  אחרי  הדברים 
האלה  ויגד  לאברהם
לאמר  הנה  ילדה
מלכה  גם־הוא  בנים
לנחור  אחיך׃
    VYHY 'aChUrY HDBUrYM H'aLH VYGD L'aBUrHM L'aMUr HNH YLDH MLKH GM-HV'a BNYM LNChVUr 'aChYK.     And it cometh to pass after these things that it is declared to Abraham, saying, `Lo, Milcah hath borne, even she, sons to Nahor thy brother:     his itaque gestis nuntiatum est Abraham quod Melcha quoque genuisset filios Nahor fratri suo
 
21.    Uz his firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel the father of Aram,     Huz his firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram,     את־עוץ  בכרו 
ואת־בוז  אחיו
ואת־קמואל  אבי
ארם׃
    'aTh-'yVTSh BKUrV V'aTh-BVZ 'aChYV V'aTh-QMV'aL 'aBY 'aUrM.     Huz his first-born, and Buz his brother; and Kemuel father of Aram,     Hus primogenitum et Buz fratrem eius Camuhel patrem Syrorum
 
22.    Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel."     And Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel.     ואת־כשד  ואת־חזו 
ואת־פלדש  ואת־ידלף
ואת  בתואל׃
    V'aTh-KShD V'aTh-ChZV V'aTh-PhLDSh V'aTh-YDLPh V'aTh BThV'aL.     and Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel;     et Chased et Azau Pheldas quoque et Iedlaph
 
23.    Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham's brother.     And Bethuel begat Rebekah: these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor, Abraham's brother.     ובתואל  ילד 
את־רבקה  שמנה  אלה
ילדה  מלכה  לנחור
אחי  אברהם׃
    VBThV'aL YLD 'aTh-UrBQH ShMNH 'aLH YLDH MLKH LNChVUr 'aChY 'aBUrHM.     and Bethuel hath begotten Rebekah;` these eight hath Milcah borne to Nahor, Abraham`s brother;     ac Bathuel de quo nata est Rebecca octo istos genuit Melcha Nahor fratri Abraham
 
24.    His concubine, whose name was Reumah, also bore Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maacah.     And his concubine, whose name was Reumah, she bare also Tebah, and Gaham, and Thahash, and Maachah.     ופילגשו  ושמה 
ראומה  ותלד  גם־הוא
את־טבח  ואת־גחם
ואת־תחש  ואת־
מעכה׃
    VPhYLGShV VShMH Ur'aVMH VThLD GM-HV'a 'aTh-TBCh V'aTh-GChM V'aTh-ThChSh V'aTh- M'yKH.     and his concubine, whose name is Reumah, she also hath borne Tebah, and Gaham, and Tahash, and Maachah.     concubina vero illius nomine Roma peperit Tabee et Gaom et Thaas et Maacha
