1.    Abraham took another wife, and her name was Keturah.     Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.     ויסף  אברהם  ויקח 
אשה  ושמה  קטורה׃

2.    She bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah.     And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.     ותלד  לו  את־זמרן 
ואת־יקשן  ואת־מדן
ואת־מדין  ואת־ישבק
ואת־שוח׃
    VThLD LV 'aTh-ZMUrN V'aTh-YQShN V'aTh-MDN V'aTh-MDYN V'aTh-YShBQ V'aTh-ShVCh.     and she beareth to him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.     quae peperit ei Zamram et Iexan et Madan et Madian et Iesboch et Sue
 
3.    Jokshan became the father of Sheba, and Dedan. The sons of Dedan were Asshurim, Letushim, and Leummim.     And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.     ויקשן  ילד  את־שבא 
ואת־דדן  ובני  דדן
היו  אשורם  ולטושם
ולאמים׃
    VYQShN YLD 'aTh-ShB'a V'aTh-DDN VBNY DDN HYV 'aShVUrM VLTVShM VL'aMYM.     And Jokshan hath begotten Sheba and Dedan; and the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim;     Iexan quoque genuit Saba et Dadan filii Dadan fuerunt Assurim et Lathusim et Loommim

    VBNY MDYN 'yYPhH V'yPhUr VChNK V'aBYD'y V'aLD'yH KL-'aLH BNY QTVUrH.     and the sons of Midian are Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abidah, and Eldaah: all these are sons of Keturah.     at vero ex Madian ortus est Epha et Opher et Enoch et Abida et Eldaa omnes hii filii Cetthurae
 
5.    Abraham gave all that he had to Isaac,     And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.     ויתן  אברהם 
את־כל־אשר־לו
ליצחק׃
    VYThN 'aBUrHM 'aTh-KL-'aShUr-LV LYTShChQ.     And Abraham giveth all that he hath to Isaac;     deditque Abraham cuncta quae possederat Isaac
 
6.    but to the sons of Abraham's concubines, Abraham gave gifts. He sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, to the east country.     But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.     ולבני  הפילגשים

    VLBNY HPhYLGShYM 'aShUr L'aBUrHM NThN 'aBUrHM MThNTh VYShLChM M'yL YTShChQ BNV B'yVDNV ChY QDMH 'aL-'aUrTSh QDM.     and to the sons of the concubines whom Abraham hath, Abraham hath given gifts, and sendeth them away from Isaac his son (in his being yet alive) eastward, unto the east country.     filiis autem concubinarum largitus est munera et separavit eos ab Isaac filio suo dum adhuc ipse viveret ad plagam orientalem
 
7.    These are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived: one hundred seventy-five years.     And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years.     ואלה  ימי  שני־חיי

    V'aLH YMY ShNY-ChYY 'aBUrHM 'aShUr-ChY M'aTh ShNH VShB'yYM ShNH VChMSh ShNYM.     And these are the days of the years of the life of Abraham, which he lived, a hundred and seventy and five years;     fuerunt autem dies vitae eius centum septuaginta quinque anni
 
8.    Abraham gave up the spirit, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years, and was gathered to his people.     Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.     ויגוע  וימת  אברהם

    VYGV'y VYMTh 'aBUrHM BShYBH TVBH ZQN VShB'y VY'aSPh 'aL-'yMYV.     and Abraham expireth, and dieth in a good old age, aged and satisfied, and is gathered unto his people.     et deficiens mortuus est in senectute bona provectaeque aetatis et plenus dierum congregatusque est ad populum suum
 
9.    Isaac and Ishmael, his sons, buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron, the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre,     And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;     ויקברו  אתו  יצחק 
וישמעאל  בניו
אל־מערת  המכפלה
אל־שדה  עפרן  בן־
צחר  החתי  אשר
על־פני  ממרא׃
    VYQBUrV 'aThV YTShChQ VYShM'y'aL BNYV 'aL-M'yUrTh HMKPhLH 'aL-ShDH 'yPhUrN BN- TShChUr HChThY 'aShUr 'yL-PhNY MMUr'a.     And Isaac and Ishmael his sons bury him at the cave of Machpelah, at the field of Ephron, son of Zoar the Hittite, which is before Mamre --     et sepelierunt eum Isaac et Ismahel filii sui in spelunca duplici quae sita est in agro Ephron filii Soor Hetthei e regione Mambre

    HShDH 'aShUr-QNH 'aBUrHM M'aTh BNY-ChTh ShMH QBUr 'aBUrHM VShUrH 'aShThV.     the field which Abraham bought from the sons of Heth -- there hath Abraham been buried, and Sarah his wife.     quem emerat a filiis Heth ibi sepultus est ipse et Sarra uxor eius
 
11.    It happened after the death of Abraham that God blessed Isaac, his son. Isaac lived by Beer Lahai Roi.     And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahairoi.     ויהי  אחרי  מות

    VYHY 'aChUrY MVTh 'aBUrHM VYBUrK 'aLHYM 'aTh-YTShChQ BNV VYShB YTShChQ 'yM-B'aUr LChY Ur'aY.     And it cometh to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blesseth Isaac his son; and Isaac dwelleth by the Well of the Living One, my Beholder.     et post obitum illius benedixit Deus Isaac filio eius qui habitabat iuxta puteum nomine Viventis et videntis
 
12.    Now this is the history of the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bore to Abraham.     Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bare unto Abraham:     ואלה  תלדת  ישמעאל

16.    These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their villages, and by their encampments: twelve princes, according to their nations.     These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.     אלה  הם  בני  ישמעאל 
ואלה  שמתם  בחצריהם
ובטירתם  שנים־עשר
נשיאם  לאמתם׃

18.    They lived from Havilah to Shur that is before Egypt, as you go toward Assyria. He lived opposite all his relatives.     And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.     וישכנו  מחוילה 
עד־שור  אשר  על־פני
מצרים  באכה  אשורה
על־פני  כל־  אחיו
נפל׃
    VYShKNV MChVYLH 'yD-ShVUr 'aShUr 'yL-PhNY MTShUrYM B'aKH 'aShVUrH 'yL-PhNY KL- 'aChYV NPhL.     and they tabernacle from Havilah unto Shur, which is before Egypt, in thy going towards Asshur; in the presence of all his brethren hath he fallen.     habitavit autem ab Evila usque Sur quae respicit Aegyptum introeuntibus Assyrios coram cunctis fratribus suis obiit
 
19.    This is the history of the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son. Abraham became the father of Isaac.     And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begat Isaac:     ואלה  תולדת  יצחק

20.    Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Paddan Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian, to be his wife.     And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.     ויהי  יצחק 
בן־ארבעים  שנה
בקחתו  את־רבקה
בת־בתואל  הארמי
מפדן  ארם  אחות  לבן
הארמי  לו  לאשה׃
    VYHY YTShChQ BN-'aUrB'yYM ShNH BQChThV 'aTh-UrBQH BTh-BThV'aL H'aUrMY MPhDN 'aUrM 'aChVTh LBN H'aUrMY LV L'aShH.     and Isaac is a son of forty years in his taking Rebekah, daughter of Bethuel the Aramaean, from Padan-Aram, sister of Laban the Aramaean, to him for a wife.     qui cum quadraginta esset annorum duxit uxorem Rebeccam filiam Bathuel Syri de Mesopotamiam sororem Laban
 
21.    Isaac entreated Yahweh for his wife, because she was barren. Yahweh was entreated by him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.     And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.     ויעתר  יצחק  ליהוה 
לנכח  אשתו  כי  עקרה
הוא  ויעתר  לו  יהוה
ותהר  רבקה  אשתו׃
    VY'yThUr YTShChQ LYHVH LNKCh 'aShThV KY 'yQUrH HV'a VY'yThUr LV YHVH VThHUr UrBQH 'aShThV.     And Isaac maketh entreaty to Jehovah before his wife, for she is barren: and Jehovah is entreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceiveth,     deprecatusque est Dominum pro uxore sua eo quod esset sterilis qui exaudivit eum et dedit conceptum Rebeccae
 
22.    The children struggled together within her. She said, "If it be so, why do I live?" She went to inquire of Yahweh.     And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD.     ויתרצצו  הבנים 
בקרבה  ותאמר  אם־כן
למה  זה  אנכי  ותלך
לדרש  את־  יהוה׃
    VYThUrTShTShV HBNYM BQUrBH VTh'aMUr 'aM-KN LMH ZH 'aNKY VThLK LDUrSh 'aTh- YHVH.     and the children struggle together within her, and she saith, `If it is right -- why am I thus?` and she goeth to seek Jehovah.     sed conlidebantur in utero eius parvuli quae ait si sic mihi futurum erat quid necesse fuit concipere perrexitque ut consuleret Dominum
 
23.    Yahweh said to her, "Two nations are in your womb. Two peoples will be separated from your body. The one people will be stronger than the other people. The elder will serve the younger."     And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.     ויאמר  יהוה  לה  שני 
גיים  בבטנך  ושני
לאמים  ממעיך  יפרדו
ולאם  מלאם  יאמץ
ורב  יעבד  צעיר׃
    VY'aMUr YHVH LH ShNY GYYM BBTNK VShNY L'aMYM MM'yYK YPhUrDV VL'aM ML'aM Y'aMTSh VUrB Y'yBD TSh'yYUr.     And Jehovah saith to her, `Two nations are in thy womb, and two peoples from thy bowels are parted; and the one people than the other people is stronger; and the elder doth serve the younger.`     qui respondens ait duae gentes in utero tuo sunt et duo populi ex ventre tuo dividentur populusque populum superabit et maior minori serviet
 
24.    When her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.     And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.     וימלאו  ימיה  ללדת 
והנה  תומם  בבטנה׃
    VYML'aV YMYH LLDTh VHNH ThVMM BBTNH.     And her days to bear are fulfilled, and lo, twins are in her womb;     iam tempus pariendi venerat et ecce gemini in utero repperti sunt
 
25.    The first came out red all over, like a hairy garment. They named him Esau.     And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.     ויצא  הראשון 
אדמוני  כלו  כאדרת
שער  ויקראו  שמו
עשו׃
    VYTSh'a HUr'aShVN 'aDMVNY KLV K'aDUrTh Sh'yUr VYQUr'aV ShMV 'yShV.     and the first cometh out all red as a hairy robe, and they call his name Esau;     qui primus egressus est rufus erat et totus in morem pellis hispidus vocatumque est nomen eius Esau protinus alter egrediens plantam fratris tenebat manu et idcirco appellavit eum Iacob
 
26.    After that, his brother came out, and his hand had hold on Esau's heel. He was named Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them.     And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.     ואחרי־כן  יצא  אחיו 
וידו  אחזת  בעקב
עשו  ויקרא  שמו
יעקב  ויצחק  בן־
ששים  שנה  בלדת
אתם׃
    V'aChUrY-KN YTSh'a 'aChYV VYDV 'aChZTh B'yQB 'yShV VYQUr'a ShMV Y'yQB VYTShChQ BN- ShShYM ShNH BLDTh 'aThM.     and afterwards hath his brother come out, and his hand is taking hold on Esau`s heel, and one calleth his name Jacob; and Isaac is a son of sixty years in her bearing them.     sexagenarius erat Isaac quando nati sunt parvuli
 
27.    The boys grew. Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field. Jacob was a quiet man, living in tents.     And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.     ויגדלו  הנערים 
ויהי  עשו  איש  ידע
ציד  איש  שדה  ויעקב
איש  תם  ישב  אהלים׃
    VYGDLV HN'yUrYM VYHY 'yShV 'aYSh YD'y TShYD 'aYSh ShDH VY'yQB 'aYSh ThM YShB 'aHLYM.     And the youths grew, and Esau is a man acquainted with hunting, a man of the field; and Jacob is a plain man, inhabiting tents;     quibus adultis factus est Esau vir gnarus venandi et homo agricola Iacob autem vir simplex habitabat in tabernaculis
 
28.    Now Isaac loved Esau, because he ate his venison. Rebekah loved Jacob.     And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.     ויאהב  יצחק  את־עשו 
כי־ציד  בפיו  ורבקה
אהבת  את־יעקב׃
    VY'aHB YTShChQ 'aTh-'yShV KY-TShYD BPhYV VUrBQH 'aHBTh 'aTh-Y'yQB.     and Isaac loveth Esau, for his hunting is in his mouth; and Rebekah is loving Jacob.     Isaac amabat Esau eo quod de venationibus illius vesceretur et Rebecca diligebat Iacob
 
29.    Jacob boiled stew. Esau came in from the field, and he was famished.     And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:     ויזד  יעקב  נזיד 
ויבא  עשו  מן־השדה
והוא  עיף׃
    VYZD Y'yQB NZYD VYB'a 'yShV MN-HShDH VHV'a 'yYPh.     And Jacob boileth pottage, and Esau cometh in from the field, and he is weary;     coxit autem Iacob pulmentum ad quem cum venisset Esau de agro lassus
 
30.    Esau said to Jacob, "Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am famished." Therefore his name was called Edom.     And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.     ויאמר  עשו  אל־יעקב

מן־האדם  האדם  הזה
כי  עיף  אנכי  על־
כן  קרא־שמו  אדום׃
    VY'aMUr 'yShV 'aL-Y'yQB HL'yYTNY N'a MN-H'aDM H'aDM HZH KY 'yYPh 'aNKY 'yL- KN QUr'a-ShMV 'aDVM.     and Esau saith unto Jacob, `Let me eat, I pray thee, some of this red red thing, for I am weary;` therefore hath one called his name Edom Red;     ait da mihi de coctione hac rufa quia oppido lassus sum quam ob causam vocatum est nomen eius Edom
 
31.    Jacob said, "First, sell me your birthright."     And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.     ויאמר  יעקב  מכרה 
כיום  את־בכרתך  לי׃
    VY'aMUr Y'yQB MKUrH KYVM 'aTh-BKUrThK LY.     and Jacob saith, `Sell to-day thy birthright to me.`     cui dixit Iacob vende mihi primogenita tua
 
32.    Esau said, "Behold, I am about to die. What good is the birthright to me?"     And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?     ויאמר  עשו  הנה 
אנכי  הולך  למות
ולמה־זה  לי  בכרה׃
    VY'aMUr 'yShV HNH 'aNKY HVLK LMVTh VLMH-ZH LY BKUrH.     And Esau saith, `Lo, I am going to die, and what is this to me -- birthright?`     ille respondit en morior quid mihi proderunt primogenita
 
33.    Jacob said, "Swear to me first." He swore to him. He sold his birthright to Jacob.     And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.     ויאמר  יעקב  השבעה 
לי  כיום  וישבע  לו
וימכר  את־בכרתו
ליעקב׃
    VY'aMUr Y'yQB HShB'yH LY KYVM VYShB'y LV VYMKUr 'aTh-BKUrThV LY'yQB.     and Jacob saith, `Swear to me to-day:` and he sweareth to him, and selleth his birthright to Jacob;     ait Iacob iura ergo mihi iuravit Esau et vendidit primogenita
 
34.    Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils. He ate and drank, rose up, and went his way. So Esau despised his birthright.     Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.     ויעקב  נתן  לעשו 
לחם  ונזיד  עדשים
ויאכל  וישת  ויקם
וילך  ויבז  עשו
את־הבכרה׃
