1.    It happened after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker offended their lord, the king of Egypt.     And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.     ויהי  אחר  הדברים 
האלה  חטאו  משקה
מלך־מצרים  והאפה
לאדניהם  למלך
מצרים׃
    VYHY 'aChUr HDBUrYM H'aLH ChT'aV MShQH MLK-MTShUrYM VH'aPhH L'aDNYHM LMLK MTShUrYM.     And it cometh to pass, after these things -- the butler of the king of Egypt and the baker have sinned against their lord, against the king of Egypt;     his ita gestis accidit ut peccarent duo eunuchi pincerna regis Aegypti et pistor domino suo
 
2.    Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker.     And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.     ויקצף  פרעה  על  שני 
סריסיו  על  שר
המשקים  ועל  שר
האופים׃
    VYQTShPh PhUr'yH 'yL ShNY SUrYSYV 'yL ShUr HMShQYM V'yL ShUr H'aVPhYM.     and Pharaoh is wroth against his two eunuchs, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers,     iratusque Pharao contra eos nam alter pincernis praeerat alter pistoribus
 
3.    He put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.     And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.     ויתן  אתם  במשמר 
בית  שר  הטבחים
אל־בית  הסהר  מקום
אשר  יוסף  אסור  שם׃
    VYThN 'aThM BMShMUr BYTh ShUr HTBChYM 'aL-BYTh HSHUr MQVM 'aShUr YVSPh 'aSVUr ShM.     and giveth them in charge in the house of the chief of the executioners, unto the round-house, the place where Joseph is a prisoner,     misit eos in carcerem principis militum in quo erat vinctus et Ioseph
 
4.    The captain of the guard assigned them to Joseph, and he took care of them. They stayed in prison many days.     And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward.     ויפקד  שר  הטבחים 
את־יוסף  אתם  וישרת
אתם  ויהיו  ימים
במשמר׃
    VYPhQD ShUr HTBChYM 'aTh-YVSPh 'aThM VYShUrTh 'aThM VYHYV YMYM BMShMUr.     and the chief of the executioners chargeth Joseph with them, and he serveth them; and they are days in charge.     at custos carceris tradidit eos Ioseph qui et ministrabat eis aliquantum temporis fluxerat et illi in custodia tenebantur
 
5.    They both dreamed a dream, each man his dream, in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were bound in the prison.     And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison.     ויחלמו  חלום  שניהם 
איש  חלמו  בלילה
אחד  איש  כפתרון
חלמו  המשקה  והאפה
אשר  למלך  מצרים
אשר  אסורים  בבית
הסהר׃
    VYChLMV ChLVM ShNYHM 'aYSh ChLMV BLYLH 'aChD 'aYSh KPhThUrVN ChLMV HMShQH VH'aPhH 'aShUr LMLK MTShUrYM 'aShUr 'aSVUrYM BBYTh HSHUr.     And they dream a dream both of them, each his dream in one night, each according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker whom the king of Egypt hath, who are prisoners in the round-house.     videruntque ambo somnium nocte una iuxta interpretationem congruam sibi
 
6.    Joseph came in to them in the morning, and saw them, and saw that they were sad.     And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad.     ויבא  אליהם  יוסף 
בבקר  וירא  אתם
והנם  זעפים׃
    VYB'a 'aLYHM YVSPh BBQUr VYUr'a 'aThM VHNM Z'yPhYM.     And Joseph cometh in unto them in the morning, and seeth them, and lo, they are morose;     ad quos cum introisset Ioseph mane et vidisset eos tristes
 
7.    He asked Pharaoh's officers who were with him in custody in his master's house, saying, "Why do you look so sad today?"     And he asked Pharaoh's officers that were with him in the ward of his lord's house, saying, Wherefore look ye so sadly to day?     וישאל  את־סריסי 
פרעה  אשר  אתו
במשמר  בית  אדניו
לאמר  מדוע  פניכם
רעים  היום׃
    VYSh'aL 'aTh-SUrYSY PhUr'yH 'aShUr 'aThV BMShMUr BYTh 'aDNYV L'aMUr MDV'y PhNYKM Ur'yYM HYVM.     and he asketh Pharaoh`s eunuchs who are with him in charge in the house of his lord, saying, `Wherefore are your faces sad to-day?`     sciscitatus est dicens cur tristior est hodie solito facies vestra
 
8.    They said to him, "We have dreamed a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it." Joseph said to them, "Don't interpretations belong to God? Please tell it to me."     And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you.     ויאמרו  אליו  חלום 
חלמנו  ופתר  אין
אתו  ויאמר  אלהם
יוסף  הלוא  לאלהים
פתרנים  ספרו־נא
לי׃
    VY'aMUrV 'aLYV ChLVM ChLMNV VPhThUr 'aYN 'aThV VY'aMUr 'aLHM YVSPh HLV'a L'aLHYM PhThUrNYM SPhUrV-N'a LY.     And they say unto him, `A dream we have dreamed, and there is no interpreter of it;` and Joseph saith unto them, `Are not interpretations with God? recount, I pray you, to me.`     qui responderunt somnium vidimus et non est qui interpretetur nobis dixitque ad eos Ioseph numquid non Dei est interpretatio referte mihi quid videritis
 
9.    The chief cupbearer told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, "In my dream, behold, a vine was in front of me,     And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;     ויספר  שר־המשקים 
את־חלמו  ליוסף
ויאמר  לו  בחלומי
והנה־גפן  לפני׃
    VYSPhUr ShUr-HMShQYM 'aTh-ChLMV LYVSPh VY'aMUr LV BChLVMY VHNH-GPhN LPhNY.     And the chief of the butlers recounteth his dream to Joseph, and saith to him, `In my dream, then lo, a vine is before me!     narravit prior praepositus pincernarum somnium videbam coram me vitem
 
10.    and in the vine were three branches. It was as though it budded, its blossoms shot forth, and its clusters brought forth ripe grapes.     And in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it budded, and her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes:     ובגפן  שלשה  שריגם 
והוא  כפרחת  עלתה
נצה  הבשילו
אשכלתיה  ענבים׃
    VBGPhN ShLShH ShUrYGM VHV'a KPhUrChTh 'yLThH NTShH HBShYLV 'aShKLThYH 'yNBYM.     and in the vine are three branches, and it is as it were flourishing; gone up hath its blossom, its clusters have ripened grapes;     in qua erant tres propagines crescere paulatim gemmas et post flores uvas maturescere
 
11.    Pharaoh's cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand."     And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.     וכוס  פרעה  בידי 
ואקח  את־הענבים
ואשחט  אתם  אל־כוס
פרעה  ואתן  את־
הכוס  על־כף  פרעה׃
    VKVS PhUr'yH BYDY V'aQCh 'aTh-H'yNBYM V'aShChT 'aThM 'aL-KVS PhUr'yH V'aThN 'aTh- HKVS 'yL-KPh PhUr'yH.     and Pharaoh`s cup is in my hand, and I take the grapes and press them into the cup of Pharaoh, and I give the cup into the hand of Pharaoh.`     calicemque Pharaonis in manu mea tuli ergo uvas et expressi in calicem quem tenebam et tradidi poculum Pharaoni
 
12.    Joseph said to him, "This is its interpretation: the three branches are three days.     And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days:     ויאמר  לו  יוסף  זה 
פתרנו  שלשת  השרגים
שלשת  ימים  הם׃
    VY'aMUr LV YVSPh ZH PhThUrNV ShLShTh HShUrGYM ShLShTh YMYM HM.     And Joseph saith to him, `This is its interpretation: the three branches are three days;     respondit Ioseph haec est interpretatio somnii tres propagines tres adhuc dies sunt
 
13.    Within three more days, Pharaoh will lift up your head, and restore you to your office. You will give Pharaoh's cup into his hand, the way you did when you were his cupbearer.     Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler.     בעוד  שלשת  ימים 
ישא  פרעה  את־ראשך
והשיבך  על־כנך
ונתת  כוס־פרעה
בידו  כמשפט  הראשון
אשר  היית  משקהו׃
    B'yVD ShLShTh YMYM YSh'a PhUr'yH 'aTh-Ur'aShK VHShYBK 'yL-KNK VNThTh KVS-PhUr'yH BYDV KMShPhT HUr'aShVN 'aShUr HYYTh MShQHV.     yet, within three days doth Pharaoh lift up thy head, and hath put thee back on thy station, and thou hast given the cup of Pharaoh into his hand, according to the former custom when thou wast his butler.     post quos recordabitur Pharao magisterii tui et restituet te in gradum pristinum dabisque ei calicem iuxta officium tuum sicut facere ante consueveras
 
14.    But remember me when it will be well with you, and show kindness, please, to me, and make mention of me to Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house.     But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:     כי  אם־זכרתני  אתך 
כאשר  ייטב  לך
ועשית־נא  עמדי  חסד
והזכרתני  אל־  פרעה
והוצאתני  מן־הבית
הזה׃
    KY 'aM-ZKUrThNY 'aThK K'aShUr YYTB LK V'yShYTh-N'a 'yMDY ChSD VHZKUrThNY 'aL- PhUr'yH VHVTSh'aThNY MN-HBYTh HZH.     `Surely if thou hast remembered me with thee, when it is well with thee, and hast done (I pray thee) kindness with me, and hast made mention of me unto Pharaoh, then hast thou brought me out from this house,     tantum memento mei cum tibi bene fuerit et facies mecum misericordiam ut suggeras Pharaoni et educat me de isto carcere
 
15.    For indeed, I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews, and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon."     For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.     כי־גנב  גנבתי  מארץ 
העברים  וגם־פה
לא־עשיתי  מאומה
כי־שמו  אתי  בבור׃
    KY-GNB GNBThY M'aUrTSh H'yBUrYM VGM-PhH L'a-'yShYThY M'aVMH KY-ShMV 'aThY BBVUr.     for I was really stolen from the land of the Hebrews; and here also have I done nothing that they have put me in the pit.`     quia furto sublatus sum de terra Hebraeorum et hic innocens in lacum missus sum
 
16.    When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, "I also was in my dream, and behold, three baskets of white bread were on my head.     When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head:     וירא  שר־האפים  כי 
טוב  פתר  ויאמר
אל־יוסף  אף־אני
בחלומי  והנה  שלשה
סלי  חרי  על־ראשי׃
    VYUr'a ShUr-H'aPhYM KY TVB PhThUr VY'aMUr 'aL-YVSPh 'aPh-'aNY BChLVMY VHNH ShLShH SLY ChUrY 'yL-Ur'aShY.     And the chief of the bakers seeth that he hath interpreted good, and he saith unto Joseph, `I also am in a dream, and lo, three baskets of white bread are on my head,     videns pistorum magister quod prudenter somnium dissolvisset ait et ego vidi somnium quod haberem tria canistra farinae super caput meum
 
17.    In the uppermost basket there was all kinds of baked food for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head."     And in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of bakemeats for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head.     ובסל  העליון  מכל 
מאכל  פרעה  מעשה
אפה  והעוף  אכל  אתם
מן־הסל  מעל  ראשי׃
    VBSL H'yLYVN MKL M'aKL PhUr'yH M'yShH 'aPhH VH'yVPh 'aKL 'aThM MN-HSL M'yL Ur'aShY.     and in the uppermost basket are of all kinds of Pharaoh`s food, work of a baker; and the birds are eating them out of the basket, from off my head.`     et in uno canistro quod erat excelsius portare me omnes cibos qui fiunt arte pistoria avesque comedere ex eo
 
18.    Joseph answered, "This is its interpretation. The three baskets are three days.     And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The three baskets are three days:     ויען  יוסף  ויאמר 
זה  פתרנו  שלשת
הסלים  שלשת  ימים
הם׃
    VY'yN YVSPh VY'aMUr ZH PhThUrNV ShLShTh HSLYM ShLShTh YMYM HM.     And Joseph answereth and saith, `This is its interpretation: the three baskets are three days;     respondit Ioseph haec est interpretatio somnii tria canistra tres adhuc dies sunt
 
19.    Within three more days, Pharaoh will lift up your head from off you, and will hang you on a tree; and the birds will eat your flesh from off you."     Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.     בעוד  שלשת  ימים 
ישא  פרעה  את־ראשך
מעליך  ותלה  אותך
על־עץ  ואכל  העוף
את־בשרך  מעליך׃
    B'yVD ShLShTh YMYM YSh'a PhUr'yH 'aTh-Ur'aShK M'yLYK VThLH 'aVThK 'yL-'yTSh V'aKL H'yVPh 'aTh-BShUrK M'yLYK.     yet, within three days doth Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and hath hanged thee on a tree, and the birds have eaten thy flesh from off thee.`     post quos auferet Pharao caput tuum ac suspendet te in cruce et lacerabunt volucres carnes tuas
 
20.    It happened the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast for all his servants, and he lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer and the head of the chief baker among his servants.     And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.     ויהי  ביום  השלישי 
יום  הלדת  את־פרעה
ויעש  משתה
לכל־עבדיו  וישא
את־ראש  שר  המשקים
ואת־ראש  שר  האפים
בתוך  עבדיו׃
    VYHY BYVM HShLYShY YVM HLDTh 'aTh-PhUr'yH VY'ySh MShThH LKL-'yBDYV VYSh'a 'aTh-Ur'aSh ShUr HMShQYM V'aTh-Ur'aSh ShUr H'aPhYM BThVK 'yBDYV.     And it cometh to pass, on the third day, Pharaoh`s birthday, that he maketh a banquet to all his servants, and lifteth up the head of the chief of the butlers, and the head of the chief of the bakers among his servants,     exin dies tertius natalicius Pharaonis erat qui faciens grande convivium pueris suis recordatus est inter epulas magistri pincernarum et pistorum principis
 
21.    He restored the chief cupbearer to his position again, and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand;     And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand:     וישב  את־שר  המשקים 
על־משקהו  ויתן
הכוס  על־כף  פרעה׃
    VYShB 'aTh-ShUr HMShQYM 'yL-MShQHV VYThN HKVS 'yL-KPh PhUr'yH.     and he putteth back the chief of the butlers to his butlership, and he giveth the cup into the hand of Pharaoh;     restituitque alterum in locum suum ut porrigeret regi poculum
 
22.    but he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them.     But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them.     ואת  שר  האפים  תלה 
כאשר  פתר  להם
יוסף׃
    V'aTh ShUr H'aPhYM ThLH K'aShUr PhThUr LHM YVSPh.     and the chief of the bakers he hath hanged, as Joseph hath interpreted to them;     alterum suspendit in patibulo ut coniectoris veritas probaretur
 
23.    Yet the chief cupbearer didn't remember Joseph, but forgot him.     Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.     ולא־זכר  שר־המשקים 
את־יוסף  וישכחהו׃
    VL'a-ZKUr ShUr-HMShQYM 'aTh-YVSPh VYShKChHV.     and the chief of the butlers hath not remembered Joseph, but forgetteth him.     et tamen succedentibus prosperis praepositus pincernarum oblitus est interpretis sui
