1.    Then Joseph couldn't control himself before all those who stood before him, and he cried, "Cause every man to go out from me!" No one else stood with him, while Joseph made himself known to his brothers.     Then Joseph could not refrain himself before all them that stood by him; and he cried, Cause every man to go out from me. And there stood no man with him, while Joseph made himself known unto his brethren.     ולא־יכל  יוסף

    VL'a-YKL YVSPh LHTh'aPhQ LKL HNTShBYM 'yLYV VYQUr'a HVTShY'aV KL-'aYSh M'yLY VL'a-'yMD 'aYSh 'aThV BHThVD'y YVSPh 'aL-'aChYV.     And Joseph hath not been able to refrain himself before all those standing by him, and he calleth, `Put out every man from me;` and no man hath stood with him when Joseph maketh himself known unto his brethren,     non se poterat ultra cohibere Ioseph multis coram adstantibus unde praecepit ut egrederentur cuncti foras et nullus interesset alienus agnitioni mutuae
 
2.    He wept aloud. The Egyptians heard, and the house of Pharaoh heard.     And he wept aloud: and the Egyptians and the house of Pharaoh heard.     ויתן  את־קלו  בבכי 
וישמעו  מצרים
וישמע  בית  פרעה׃
    VYThN 'aTh-QLV BBKY VYShM'yV MTShUrYM VYShM'y BYTh PhUr'yH.     and he giveth forth his voice in weeping, and the Egyptians hear, and the house of Pharaoh heareth.     elevavitque vocem cum fletu quam audierunt Aegyptii omnisque domus Pharaonis
 
3.    Joseph said to his brothers, "I am Joseph! Does my father still live?" His brothers couldn't answer him; for they were terrified at his presence.     And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph; doth my father yet live? And his brethren could not answer him; for they were troubled at his presence.     ויאמר  יוסף 
אל־אחיו  אני  יוסף
העוד  אבי  חי
ולא־יכלו  אחיו
לענות  אתו  כי
נבהלו  מפניו׃
    VY'aMUr YVSPh 'aL-'aChYV 'aNY YVSPh H'yVD 'aBY ChY VL'a-YKLV 'aChYV L'yNVTh 'aThV KY NBHLV MPhNYV.     And Joseph saith unto his brethren, `I am Joseph, is my father yet alive?` and his brethren have not been able to answer him, for they have been troubled at his presence.     et dixit fratribus suis ego sum Ioseph adhuc pater meus vivit nec poterant respondere fratres nimio timore perterriti
 
4.    Joseph said to his brothers, "Come near to me, please." They came near. "He said, I am Joseph, your brother, whom you sold into Egypt.     And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt.     ויאמר  יוסף 
אל־אחיו  גשו־נא
אלי  ויגשו  ויאמר
אני  יוסף  אחיכם
אשר־  מכרתם  אתי
מצרימה׃
    VY'aMUr YVSPh 'aL-'aChYV GShV-N'a 'aLY VYGShV VY'aMUr 'aNY YVSPh 'aChYKM 'aShUr- MKUrThM 'aThY MTShUrYMH.     And Joseph saith unto his brethren, `Come nigh unto me, I pray you,` and they come nigh; and he saith, `I am Joseph, your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt;     ad quos ille clementer accedite inquit ad me et cum accessissent prope ego sum ait Ioseph frater vester quem vendidistis in Aegypto
 
5.    Now don't be grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life.     Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.     ועתה  אל־תעצבו 
ואל־יחר  בעיניכם
כי־מכרתם  אתי  הנה
כי  למחיה  שלחני
אלהים  לפניכם׃
    V'yThH 'aL-Th'yTShBV V'aL-YChUr B'yYNYKM KY-MKUrThM 'aThY HNH KY LMChYH ShLChNY 'aLHYM LPhNYKM.     and now, be not grieved, nor let it be displeasing in your eyes that ye sold me hither, for to preserve life hath God sent me before you.     nolite pavere nec vobis durum esse videatur quod vendidistis me in his regionibus pro salute enim vestra misit me Deus ante vos in Aegyptum
 
6.    For these two years the famine has been in the land, and there are yet five years, in which there will be neither plowing nor harvest.     For these two years hath the famine been in the land: and yet there are five years, in the which there shall neither be earing nor harvest.     כי־זה  שנתים  הרעב 
בקרב  הארץ  ועוד
חמש  שנים  אשר
אין־חריש  וקציר׃
    KY-ZH ShNThYM HUr'yB BQUrB H'aUrTSh V'yVD ChMSh ShNYM 'aShUr 'aYN-ChUrYSh VQTShYUr.     `Because these two years the famine is in the heart of the land, and yet are five years, in which there is neither ploughing nor harvest;     biennium est quod fames esse coepit in terra et adhuc quinque anni restant quibus nec arari poterit nec meti
 
7.    God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant in the earth, and to save you alive by a great deliverance.     And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.     וישלחני  אלהים 
לפניכם  לשום  לכם
שארית  בארץ
ולהחיות  לכם
לפליטה  גדלה׃
    VYShLChNY 'aLHYM LPhNYKM LShVM LKM Sh'aUrYTh B'aUrTSh VLHChYVTh LKM LPhLYTH GDLH.     and God sendeth me before you, to place of you a remnant in the land, and to give life to you by a great escape;     praemisitque me Deus ut reservemini super terram et escas ad vivendum habere possitis
 
8.    So now it wasn't you who sent me here, but God, and he has made me a father to Pharaoh, lord of all his house, and ruler over all the land of Egypt.     So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.     ועתה  לא־אתם  שלחתם 
אתי  הנה  כי  האלהים
וישימני  לאב  לפרעה
ולאדון  לכל־ביתו
ומשל  בכל־ארץ
מצרים׃
    V'yThH L'a-'aThM ShLChThM 'aThY HNH KY H'aLHYM VYShYMNY L'aB LPhUr'yH VL'aDVN LKL-BYThV VMShL BKL-'aUrTSh MTShUrYM.     and now, ye -- ye have not sent me hither, but God, and He doth set me for a father to Pharaoh, and for lord to all his house, and ruler over all the land of Egypt.     non vestro consilio sed Dei huc voluntate missus sum qui fecit me quasi patrem Pharaonis et dominum universae domus eius ac principem in omni terra Aegypti
 
9.    Hurry, and go up to my father, and tell him, 'This is what your son Joseph says, "God has made me lord of all Egypt. Come down to me. Don't wait.     Haste ye, and go up to my father, and say unto him, Thus saith thy son Joseph, God hath made me lord of all Egypt: come down unto me, tarry not:     מהרו  ועלו  אל־אבי 
ואמרתם  אליו  כה
אמר  בנך  יוסף  שמני
אלהים  לאדון
לכל־מצרים  רדה  אלי
אל־תעמד׃
    MHUrV V'yLV 'aL-'aBY V'aMUrThM 'aLYV KH 'aMUr BNK YVSPh ShMNY 'aLHYM L'aDVN LKL-MTShUrYM UrDH 'aLY 'aL-Th'yMD.     `Haste, and go up unto my father, then ye have said to him, Thus said Joseph thy son, God hath set me for lord to all Egypt; come down unto me, stay not,     festinate et ascendite ad patrem meum et dicetis ei haec mandat filius tuus Ioseph Deus me fecit dominum universae terrae Aegypti descende ad me ne moreris
 
10.    You shall dwell in the land of Goshen, and you will be near to me, you, your children, your children's children, your flocks, your herds, and all that you have.     And thou shalt dwell in the land of Goshen, and thou shalt be near unto me, thou, and thy children, and thy children's children, and thy flocks, and thy herds, and all that thou hast:     וישבת  בארץ־גשן 
והיית  קרוב  אלי
אתה  ובניך  ובני
בניך  וצאנך  ובקרך
וכל־אשר־לך׃
    VYShBTh B'aUrTSh-GShN VHYYTh QUrVB 'aLY 'aThH VBNYK VBNY BNYK VTSh'aNK VBQUrK VKL-'aShUr-LK.     and thou hast dwelt in the land of Goshen, and been near unto me, thou and thy sons, and thy son`s sons, and thy flock, and thy herd, and all that thou hast,     et habita in terra Gessen erisque iuxta me tu et filii tui et filii filiorum tuorum oves tuae et armenta tua et universa quae possides
 
11.    There I will nourish you; for there are yet five years of famine; lest you come to poverty, you, and your household, and all that you have."'     And there will I nourish thee; for yet there are five years of famine; lest thou, and thy household, and all that thou hast, come to poverty.     וכלכלתי  אתך  שם 
כי־עוד  חמש  שנים
רעב  פן־תורש  אתה
וביתך  וכל־אשר־
לך׃
    VKLKLThY 'aThK ShM KY-'yVD ChMSh ShNYM Ur'yB PhN-ThVUrSh 'aThH VBYThK VKL-'aShUr- LK.     and I have nourished thee there -- for yet are five years of famine -- lest thou become poor, thou and thy household, and all that thou hast.     ibique te pascam adhuc enim quinque anni residui sunt famis ne et tu pereas et domus tua et omnia quae possides
 
12.    Behold, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that it is my mouth that speaks to you.     And, behold, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that it is my mouth that speaketh unto you.     והנה  עיניכם  ראות 
ועיני  אחי  בנימין
כי־פי  המדבר
אליכם׃
    VHNH 'yYNYKM Ur'aVTh V'yYNY 'aChY BNYMYN KY-PhY HMDBUr 'aLYKM.     `And lo, your eyes are seeing, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that it is my mouth which is speaking unto you;     en oculi vestri et oculi fratris mei Beniamin vident quod os meum loquatur ad vos
 
13.    You shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt, and of all that you have seen. You shall hurry and bring my father down here."     And ye shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt, and of all that ye have seen; and ye shall haste and bring down my father hither.     והגדתם  לאבי 
את־כל־כבודי
במצרים  ואת  כל־אשר
ראיתם  ומהרתם
והורדתם  את־אבי
הנה׃
    VHGDThM L'aBY 'aTh-KL-KBVDY BMTShUrYM V'aTh KL-'aShUr Ur'aYThM VMHUrThM VHVUrDThM 'aTh-'aBY HNH.     and ye have declared to my father all my honour in Egypt, and all that ye have seen, and ye have hasted, and have brought down my father hither.`     nuntiate patri meo universam gloriam meam et cuncta quae vidistis in Aegypto festinate et adducite eum ad me
 
14.    He fell on his brother Benjamin's neck, and wept, and Benjamin wept on his neck.     And he fell upon his brother Benjamin's neck, and wept; and Benjamin wept upon his neck.     ויפל  על־צוארי 
בנימן־אחיו  ויבך
ובנימן  בכה
על־צואריו׃
    VYPhL 'yL-TShV'aUrY BNYMN-'aChYV VYBK VBNYMN BKH 'yL-TShV'aUrYV.     And he falleth on the neck of Benjamin his brother, and weepeth, and Benjamin hath wept on his neck;     cumque amplexatus recidisset in collum Beniamin fratris sui flevit illo quoque flente similiter super collum eius
 
15.    He kissed all his brothers, and wept on them. After that his brothers talked with him.     Moreover he kissed all his brethren, and wept upon them: and after that his brethren talked with him.     וינשק  לכל־אחיו 
ויבך  עלהם  ואחרי
כן  דברו  אחיו  אתו׃
    VYNShQ LKL-'aChYV VYBK 'yLHM V'aChUrY KN DBUrV 'aChYV 'aThV.     and he kisseth all his brethren, and weepeth over them; and afterwards have his brethren spoken with him.     osculatusque est Ioseph omnes fratres suos et ploravit super singulos post quae ausi sunt loqui ad eum
 
16.    The report of it was heard in Pharaoh's house, saying, "Joseph's brothers have come." It pleased Pharaoh well, and his servants.     And the fame thereof was heard in Pharaoh's house, saying, Joseph's brethren are come: and it pleased Pharaoh well, and his servants.     והקל  נשמע  בית 
פרעה  לאמר  באו  אחי
יוסף  וייטב  בעיני
פרעה  ובעיני
עבדיו׃
    VHQL NShM'y BYTh PhUr'yH L'aMUr B'aV 'aChY YVSPh VYYTB B'yYNY PhUr'yH VB'yYNY 'yBDYV.     And the sound hath been heard in the house of Pharaoh, saying, `Come have the brethren of Joseph;` and it is good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants,     auditumque est et celebri sermone vulgatum in aula regis venerunt fratres Ioseph et gavisus est Pharao atque omnis familia eius
 
17.    Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Tell your brothers, 'Do this. Load your animals, and go, travel to the land of Canaan.     And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Say unto thy brethren, This do ye; lade your beasts, and go, get you unto the land of Canaan;     ויאמר  פרעה 
אל־יוסף  אמר
אל־אחיך  זאת  עשו
טענו  את־בעירכם
ולכו־  באו  ארצה
כנען׃
    VY'aMUr PhUr'yH 'aL-YVSPh 'aMUr 'aL-'aChYK Z'aTh 'yShV T'yNV 'aTh-B'yYUrKM VLKV- B'aV 'aUrTShH KN'yN.     and Pharaoh saith unto Joseph, `Say unto thy brethren, This do ye: lade your beasts, and go, enter ye the land of Canaan,     dixitque ad Ioseph ut imperaret fratribus suis dicens onerantes iumenta ite in terram Chanaan
 
18.    Take your father and your households, and come to me, and I will give you the good of the land of Egypt, and you will eat the fat of the land.'     And take your father and your households, and come unto me: and I will give you the good of the land of Egypt, and ye shall eat the fat of the land.     וקחו  את־אביכם 
ואת־בתיכם  ובאו
אלי  ואתנה  לכם
את־טוב  ארץ  מצרים
ואכלו  את־חלב
הארץ׃
    VQChV 'aTh-'aBYKM V'aTh-BThYKM VB'aV 'aLY V'aThNH LKM 'aTh-TVB 'aUrTSh MTShUrYM V'aKLV 'aTh-ChLB H'aUrTSh.     and take your father, and your households, and come unto me, and I give to you the good of the land of Egypt, and eat ye the fat of the land.     et tollite inde patrem vestrum et cognationem et venite ad me et ego dabo vobis omnia bona Aegypti ut comedatis medullam terrae
 
19.    Now you are commanded: do this. Take wagons out of the land of Egypt for your little ones, and for your wives, and bring your father, and come.     Now thou art commanded, this do ye; take you wagons out of the land of Egypt for your little ones, and for your wives, and bring your father, and come.     ואתה  צויתה  זאת 
עשו  קחו־לכם  מארץ
מצרים  עגלות  לטפכם
ולנשיכם  ונשאתם
את־אביכם  ובאתם׃
    V'aThH TShVYThH Z'aTh 'yShV QChV-LKM M'aUrTSh MTShUrYM 'yGLVTh LTPhKM VLNShYKM VNSh'aThM 'aTh-'aBYKM VB'aThM.     `Yea, thou -- thou hast been commanded: this do ye, take for yourselves out of the land of Egypt, waggons for your infants, and for your wives, and ye have brought your father, and come;     praecipe etiam ut tollant plaustra de terra Aegypti ad subvectionem parvulorum suorum et coniugum ac dicito tollite patrem vestrum et properate quantocius venientes
 
20.    Also, don't concern yourselves about your belongings, for the good of all of the land of Egypt is yours."     Also regard not your stuff; for the good of all the land of Egypt is yours.     ועינכם  אל־תחס 
על־כליכם  כי־טוב
כל־ארץ  מצרים  לכם
הוא׃
    V'yYNKM 'aL-ThChS 'yL-KLYKM KY-TVB KL-'aUrTSh MTShUrYM LKM HV'a.     and your eye hath no pity on your vessels, for the good of all the land of Egypt is yours.`     ne dimittatis quicquam de supellectili vestra quia omnes opes Aegypti vestrae erunt
 
21.    The sons of Israel did so. Joseph gave them wagons, according to the commandment of Pharaoh, and gave them provision for the way.     And the children of Israel did so: and Joseph gave them wagons, according to the commandment of Pharaoh, and gave them provision for the way.     ויעשו־כן  בני 
ישראל  ויתן  להם
יוסף  עגלות  על־פי
פרעה  ויתן  להם  צדה
לדרך׃
    VY'yShV-KN BNY YShUr'aL VYThN LHM YVSPh 'yGLVTh 'yL-PhY PhUr'yH VYThN LHM TShDH LDUrK.     And the sons of Israel do so, and Joseph giveth waggons to them by the command of Pharaoh, and he giveth to them provision for the way;     fecerunt filii Israhel ut eis mandatum fuerat quibus dedit Ioseph plaustra secundum Pharaonis imperium et cibaria in itinere
 
22.    He gave each one of them changes of clothing, but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver and five changes of clothing.     To all of them he gave each man changes of raiment; but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver, and five changes of raiment.     לכלם  נתן  לאיש

23.    To his father, he sent after this manner: ten donkeys loaded with the good things of Egypt, and ten female donkeys loaded with grain and bread and provision for his father by the way.     And to his father he sent after this manner; ten asses laden with the good things of Egypt, and ten she asses laden with corn and bread and meat for his father by the way.     ולאביו  שלח  כזאת 
עשרה  חמרים  נשאים
מטוב  מצרים  ועשר
אתנת  נשאת  בר  ולחם
ומזון  לאביו  לדרך׃
    VL'aBYV ShLCh KZ'aTh 'yShUrH ChMUrYM NSh'aYM MTVB MTShUrYM V'yShUr 'aThNTh NSh'aTh BUr VLChM VMZVN L'aBYV LDUrK.     and to his father he hath sent thus: ten asses bearing of the good things of Egypt, and ten she-asses bearing corn and bread, even food for his father for the way.     tantundem pecuniae et vestium mittens patri suo addens eis asinos decem qui subveherent ex omnibus divitiis Aegypti et totidem asinas triticum in itinere panesque portantes
 
24.    So he sent his brothers away, and they departed. He said to them, "See that you don't quarrel on the way."     So he sent his brethren away, and they departed: and he said unto them, See that ye fall not out by the way.     וישלח  את־אחיו 
וילכו  ויאמר  אלהם
אל־תרגזו  בדרך׃
    VYShLCh 'aTh-'aChYV VYLKV VY'aMUr 'aLHM 'aL-ThUrGZV BDUrK.     And he sendeth his brethren away, and they go; and he saith unto them, `Be not angry in the way.`     dimisit ergo fratres suos et proficiscentibus ait ne irascamini in via
 
25.    They went up out of Egypt, and came into the land of Canaan, to Jacob their father.     And they went up out of Egypt, and came into the land of Canaan unto Jacob their father,     ויעלו  ממצרים 
ויבאו  ארץ  כנען
אל־יעקב  אביהם׃
    VY'yLV MMTShUrYM VYB'aV 'aUrTSh KN'yN 'aL-Y'yQB 'aBYHM.     And they go up out of Egypt, and come in to the land of Canaan, unto Jacob their father,     qui ascendentes ex Aegypto venerunt in terram Chanaan ad patrem suum Iacob
 
26.    They told him, saying, "Joseph is still alive, and he is ruler over all the land of Egypt." His heart fainted, for he didn't believe them.     And told him, saying, Joseph is yet alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt. And Jacob's heart fainted, for he believed them not.     ויגדו  לו  לאמר  עוד 
יוסף  חי  וכי־הוא
משל  בכל־ארץ  מצרים
ויפג  לבו  כי
לא־האמין  להם׃
    VYGDV LV L'aMUr 'yVD YVSPh ChY VKY-HV'a MShL BKL-'aUrTSh MTShUrYM VYPhG LBV KY L'a-H'aMYN LHM.     and they declare to him, saying, `Joseph is yet alive,` and that he is ruler over all the land of Egypt; and his heart ceaseth, for he hath not given credence to them.     et nuntiaverunt ei dicentes Ioseph vivit et ipse dominatur in omni terra Aegypti quo audito quasi de gravi somno evigilans tamen non credebat eis
 
27.    They told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said to them. When he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob, their father, revived.     And they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said unto them: and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived:     וידברו  אליו  את 
כל־דברי  יוסף  אשר
דבר  אלהם  וירא
את־העגלות  אשר־
שלח  יוסף  לשאת  אתו
ותחי  רוח  יעקב

    VYDBUrV 'aLYV 'aTh KL-DBUrY YVSPh 'aShUr DBUr 'aLHM VYUr'a 'aTh-H'yGLVTh 'aShUr- ShLCh YVSPh LSh'aTh 'aThV VThChY UrVCh Y'yQB 'aBYHM.     And they speak unto him all the words of Joseph, which he hath spoken unto them, and he seeth the waggons which Joseph hath sent to bear him away, and live doth the spirit of Jacob their father;     illi contra referebant omnem ordinem rei cumque vidisset plaustra et universa quae miserat revixit spiritus eius
 
28.    Israel said, "It is enough. Joseph my son is still alive. I will go and see him before I die."     And Israel said, It is enough; Joseph my son is yet alive: I will go and see him before I die.     ויאמר  ישראל  רב 
עוד־יוסף  בני  חי
אלכה  ואראנו  בטרם
אמות׃
