| 15. | When evening had come, his disciples came to him, saying, "This place is deserted, and the hour is already late. | 16. | But Jesus said to them, "They don't need to go away. | 22. | Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat, and to go ahead of him to the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. | And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. | και ευθεως ηναγκασεν τους μαθητας εμβηναι εις το πλοιον και προαγειν αυτον εις το περαν εως ου απολυση τους οχλους | And immediately Jesus constrained his disciples to go into the boat, and to go before him to the other side, till he might let away the multitudes; | et statim iussit discipulos ascendere in navicula et praecedere eum trans fretum donec dimitteret turbas | ||||
| 23. | After he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone. | And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. | και απολυσας τους οχλους ανεβη εις το ορος κατ ιδιαν προσευξασθαι οψιας δε γενομενης μονος ην εκει | and having let away the multitudes, he went up to the mountain by himself to pray, and evening having come, he was there alone, | et dimissa turba ascendit in montem solus orare vespere autem facto solus erat ibi | ||||
| 24. | But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. | But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. | το δε πλοιον ηδη σταδιουσ πολλουσ απο της γησ απειχεν βασανιζομενον υπο των κυματων ην γαρ εναντιος ο ανεμος | and the boat was now in the midst of the sea, distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. | navicula autem in medio mari iactabatur fluctibus erat enim contrarius ventus | ||||
| 25. | In the fourth watch of the night,{The night was equally divided into four watches, so the fourth watch is approximately 3:00 A. | 27. | But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying "Cheer up! It is I!{or, I AM!} Don't be afraid." | But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. | ευθυσ δε ελαλησεν [ο ιησουσ] αυτοις λεγων θαρσειτε εγω ειμι μη φοβεισθε | and immediately Jesus spake to them, saying, `Be of good courage, I am he, be not afraid.` | statimque Iesus locutus est eis dicens habete fiduciam ego sum nolite timere | ||||
| 28. | Peter answered him and said, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters." | And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. | αποκριθεις δε αυτω ο πετρος ειπεν κυριε ει συ ει κελευσον με ελθειν προς σε επι τα υδατα | And Peter answering him said, `Sir, if it is thou, bid me come to thee upon the waters;` | respondens autem Petrus dixit Domine si tu es iube me venire ad te super aquas | ||||
| 29. | He said, "Come!" Peter stepped down from the boat, and walked on the waters to come to Jesus. | And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. | ο δε ειπεν ελθε και καταβας απο του πλοιου [ο] πετρος περιεπατησεν επι τα υδατα και ηλθεν προς τον ιησουν | and he said, `Come;` and having gone down from the boat, Peter walked upon the waters to come unto Jesus, | at ipse ait veni et descendens Petrus de navicula ambulabat super aquam ut veniret ad Iesum | ||||
| 30. | But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!" | But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. | βλεπων δε τον ανεμον [ισχυρον] εφοβηθη και αρξαμενος καταποντιζεσθαι εκραξεν λεγων κυριε σωσον με | but seeing the wind vehement, he was afraid, and having begun to sink, he cried out, saying, `Sir, save me.` | videns vero ventum validum timuit et cum coepisset mergi clamavit dicens Domine salvum me fac | ||||
| 31. | Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?" | And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? | ευθεως δε ο ιησους εκτεινας την χειρα επελαβετο αυτου και λεγει αυτω ολιγοπιστε εις τι εδιστασας | And immediately Jesus, having stretched forth the hand, laid hold of him, and saith to him, `Little faith! for what didst thou waver?` | et continuo Iesus extendens manum adprehendit eum et ait illi modicae fidei quare dubitasti | ||||
| 32. | When they got up into the boat, the wind ceased. | And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. | και αναβαντων αυτων εις το πλοιον εκοπασεν ο ανεμος | and they having gone to the boat the wind lulled, | et cum ascendissent in naviculam cessavit ventus | ||||
| 33. | Those who were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying, "You are truly the Son of God!" | Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God. | οι δε εν τω πλοιω προσεκυνησαν αυτω λεγοντες αληθως θεου υιος ει | and those in the boat having come, did bow to him, saying, `Truly -- God`s Son art thou.` | qui autem in navicula erant venerunt et adoraverunt eum dicentes vere Filius Dei es | ||||

| 35. | When the people of that place recognized him, they sent into all that surrounding region, and brought to him all who were sick, | And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased; | και επιγνοντες αυτον οι ανδρες του τοπου εκεινου απεστειλαν εις ολην την περιχωρον εκεινην και προσηνεγκαν αυτω παντας τους κακως εχοντας | and having recognized him, the men of that place sent forth to all that region round about, and they brought to him all who were ill, | et cum cognovissent eum viri loci illius miserunt in universam regionem illam et obtulerunt ei omnes male habentes | ||||
| 36. | and they begged him that they might just touch the fringe{or, tassel} of his garment. As many as touched it were made whole. | And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole. | και παρεκαλουν αυτον ινα μονον αψωνται του κρασπεδου του ιματιου αυτου και οσοι ηψαντο διεσωθησαν | and were calling on him that they might only touch the fringe of his garment, and as many as did touch were saved. | et rogabant eum ut vel fimbriam vestimenti eius tangerent et quicumque tetigerunt salvi facti sunt | ||||
