4.    Again he sent out other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, "Behold, I have made ready my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the marriage feast!"'     Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.     παλιν απεστειλεν αλλους δουλους λεγων ειπατε τοις κεκλημενοις ιδου το αριστον μου ητοιμακα οι ταυροι μου και τα σιτιστα τεθυμενα και παντα ετοιμα δευτε εις τους γαμους     `Again he sent forth other servants, saying, Say to those who have been called: Lo, my dinner I prepared, my oxen and the fatlings have been killed, and all things are ready, come ye to the marriage-feasts;     iterum misit alios servos dicens dicite invitatis ecce prandium meum paravi tauri mei et altilia occisa et omnia parata venite ad nuptias

He was speechless.     And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? 16.    They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter who you teach, for you aren't partial to anyone.     And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.     και αποστελλουσιν αυτω τους μαθητας αυτων μετα των ηρωδιανων λεγοντες διδασκαλε οιδαμεν οτι αληθης ει και την οδον του θεου εν αληθεια διδασκεις και ου μελει σοι περι ουδενος ου γαρ βλεπεις εις προσωπον ανθρωπων     and they send to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, `Teacher, we have known that thou art true, and the way of God in truth thou dost teach, and thou art not caring for any one, for thou dost not look to the face of men;     et mittunt ei discipulos suos cum Herodianis dicentes magister scimus quia verax es et viam Dei in veritate doces et non est tibi cura de aliquo non enim respicis personam hominum
 
17.    Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?"     Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? 19.    Show me the tax money." They brought to him a denarius.     Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.     επιδειξατε μοι το νομισμα του κηνσου οι δε προσηνεγκαν αυτω δηναριον     show me the tribute-coin?` and they brought to him a denary;     ostendite mihi nomisma census at illi obtulerunt ei denarium
 
20.    He asked them, "Whose is this image and inscription?"     And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?     και λεγει αυτοις τινος η εικων αυτη και η επιγραφη     and he saith to them, `Whose is this image and the inscription?`     et ait illis Iesus cuius est imago haec et suprascriptio
 
21.    They said to him, "Caesar's." Then he said to them, "Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."     They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.     λεγουσιν αυτω καισαρος τοτε λεγει αυτοις αποδοτε ουν τα καισαρος καισαρι και τα του θεου τω θεω     they say to him, `Caesar`s;` then saith he to them, `Render therefore the things of Caesar to Caesar, and the things of God to God;`     dicunt ei Caesaris tunc ait illis reddite ergo quae sunt Caesaris Caesari et quae sunt Dei Deo

23.    On that day Sadducees (those who say that there is no resurrection) came to him. They asked him,     The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,     εν εκεινη τη ημερα προσηλθον αυτω σαδδουκαιοι  λεγοντες μη ειναι αναστασιν και επηρωτησαν αυτον     In that day there came near to him Sadducees, who are saying there is not a rising again, and they questioned him, saying,     in illo die accesserunt ad eum Sadducaei qui dicunt non esse resurrectionem et interrogaverunt eum
 
24.    saying, "Teacher, Moses said, 'If a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed for his brother.'     Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.     λεγοντες διδασκαλε μωυσησ ειπεν εαν τις αποθανη μη εχων τεκνα επιγαμβρευσει ο αδελφος αυτου την γυναικα αυτου και αναστησει σπερμα τω αδελφω αυτου     `Teacher, Moses said, If any one may die not having children, his brother shall marry his wife, and shall raise up seed to his brother.     dicentes magister Moses dixit si quis mortuus fuerit non habens filium ut ducat frater eius uxorem illius et suscitet semen fratri suo
 
25.    Now there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no seed left his wife to his brother.     Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:     ησαν δε παρ ημιν επτα αδελφοι και ο πρωτος γημασ ετελευτησεν και μη εχων σπερμα αφηκεν την γυναικα αυτου τω αδελφω αυτου     `And there were with us seven brothers, and the first having married did die, and not having seed, he left his wife to his brother;     erant autem apud nos septem fratres et primus uxore ducta defunctus est et non habens semen reliquit uxorem suam fratri suo

27.    After them all, the woman died.     And last of all the woman died also.     υστερον δε παντων απεθανεν η γυνη     and last of all died also the woman;     novissime autem omnium et mulier defuncta est
 
28.    In the resurrection therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? For they all had her."     Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.     εν τη αναστασει ουν τινος των επτα εσται γυνη παντες γαρ εσχον αυτην     therefore in the rising again, of which of the seven shall she be wife -- for all had her?`     in resurrectione ergo cuius erit de septem uxor omnes enim habuerunt eam
 
29.    But Jesus answered them, "You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.     Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.     αποκριθεις δε ο ιησους ειπεν αυτοις πλανασθε μη ειδοτες τας γραφας μηδε την δυναμιν του θεου     And Jesus answering said to them, `Ye go astray, not knowing the Writings, nor the power of God;     respondens autem Iesus ait illis erratis nescientes scripturas neque virtutem Dei

32.    'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?'{Exodus 3:6} God is not the God of the dead, but of the living."     I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.     εγω ειμι ο θεος αβρααμ και ο θεος ισαακ και ο θεος ιακωβ ουκ εστιν [ο]  θεος νεκρων αλλα ζωντων     I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? 34.    But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together.     But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.     οι δε φαρισαιοι ακουσαντες οτι εφιμωσεν τους σαδδουκαιους συνηχθησαν επι το αυτο     and the Pharisees, having heard that he did silence the Sadducees, were gathered together unto him;     Pharisaei autem audientes quod silentium inposuisset Sadducaeis convenerunt in unum
 
35.    One of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him.     Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,     και επηρωτησεν εις εξ αυτων [νομικοσ] πειραζων αυτον     and one of them, a lawyer, did question, tempting him, and saying,     et interrogavit eum unus ex eis legis doctor temptans eum
 
36.    "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?"     Master, which is the great commandment in the law?     διδασκαλε ποια εντολη μεγαλη εν τω νομω     `Teacher, which is the great command in the Law?`     magister quod est mandatum magnum in lege
 
37.    Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'{Deuteronomy 6:5}     Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.     ο δε εφη αυτω αγαπησεις κυριον τον θεον σου εν ολη τη καρδια σου και εν ολη τη ψυχη σου και εν ολη τη διανοια σου     And Jesus said to him, `Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thine understanding --     ait illi Iesus diliges Dominum Deum tuum ex toto corde tuo et in tota anima tua et in tota mente tua

39.    A second likewise is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'{Leviticus 19:18}     And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.     δευτερα δε ομοια αυτη αγαπησεις τον πλησιον σου ως σεαυτον     and the second is like to it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself;     secundum autem simile est huic diliges proximum tuum sicut te ipsum
 
40.    The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments."     On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.     εν ταυταις ταις δυσιν εντολαις ολος ο νομος κρεμαται και οι προφηται     on these -- the two commands -- all the law and the prophets do hang.`     in his duobus mandatis universa lex pendet et prophetae

46.    No one was able to answer him a word, neither did any man dare ask him any more questions from that day forth.     And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.     και ουδεις εδυνατο αποκριθηναι αυτω λογον ουδε ετολμησεν τις απ εκεινης της ημερας επερωτησαι αυτον ουκετι     And no one was able to answer him a word, nor durst any from that day question him any more.     et nemo poterat respondere ei verbum neque ausus fuit quisquam ex illa die eum amplius interrogare
