1.    He entered into a boat, and crossed over, and came into his own city.     And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city.     και εμβας εις πλοιον διεπερασεν και ηλθεν εις την ιδιαν πολιν     And having gone to the boat, he passed over, and came to his own city,     et ascendens in naviculam transfretavit et venit in civitatem suam
 
2.    Behold, they brought to him a man who was paralyzed, lying on a bed. Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, "Son, cheer up! Your sins are forgiven you."     And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.     και ιδου προσεφερον αυτω παραλυτικον επι κλινης βεβλημενον και ιδων ο ιησους την πιστιν αυτων ειπεν τω παραλυτικω θαρσει τεκνον αφιενται σου αι αμαρτιαι     and lo, they were bringing to him a paralytic, laid upon a couch, and Jesus having seen their faith, said to the paralytic, `Be of good courage, child, thy sins have been forgiven thee.`     et ecce offerebant ei paralyticum iacentem in lecto et videns Iesus fidem illorum dixit paralytico confide fili remittuntur tibi peccata tua
 
3.    Behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man blasphemes."     And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.     και ιδου τινες των γραμματεων ειπαν εν εαυτοις ουτος βλασφημει     And lo, certain of the scribes said within themselves, `This one doth speak evil.`     et ecce quidam de scribis dixerunt intra se hic blasphemat
 
4.    Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts?     And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?     και ιδων ο ιησους τας ενθυμησεις αυτων ειπεν ινατι  ενθυμεισθε πονηρα εν ταις καρδιαις υμων     And Jesus, having known their thoughts, said, `Why think ye evil in your hearts?     et cum vidisset Iesus cogitationes eorum dixit ut quid cogitatis mala in cordibus vestris
 
5.    For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven;' or to say, 'Get up, and walk?'     For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?     τι γαρ εστιν ευκοπωτερον ειπειν αφιενται σου αι αμαρτιαι η ειπειν εγειρε και περιπατει     for which is easier? to say, The sins have been forgiven to thee; or to say, Rise, and walk?     quid est facilius dicere dimittuntur tibi peccata aut dicere surge et ambula
 
6.    But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins..." (then he said to the paralytic), "Get up, and take up your mat, and go up to your house."     But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.     ινα δε ειδητε οτι εξουσιαν εχει ο υιος του ανθρωπου επι της γης αφιεναι αμαρτιας τοτε λεγει τω παραλυτικω εγερθεις αρον σου την κλινην και υπαγε εις τον οικον σου     `But, that ye may know that the Son of Man hath power upon the earth to forgive sins -- (then saith he to the paralytic) -- having risen, take up thy couch, and go to thy house.`     ut sciatis autem quoniam Filius hominis habet potestatem in terra dimittendi peccata tunc ait paralytico surge tolle lectum tuum et vade in domum tuam
 
7.    He arose and departed to his house.     And he arose, and departed to his house.     και εγερθεις απηλθεν εις τον οικον αυτου     And he, having risen, went to his house,     et surrexit et abiit in domum suam
 
8.    But when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such authority to men.     But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.     ιδοντες δε οι οχλοι εφοβηθησαν και εδοξασαν τον θεον τον δοντα εξουσιαν τοιαυτην τοις ανθρωποις     and the multitudes having seen, wondered, and glorified God, who did give such power to men.     videntes autem turbae timuerunt et glorificaverunt Deum qui dedit potestatem talem hominibus
 
9.    As Jesus passed by from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax collection office. He said to him, "Follow me." He got up and followed him.     And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.     και παραγων ο ιησους εκειθεν ειδεν ανθρωπον καθημενον επι το τελωνιον μαθθαιον λεγομενον και λεγει αυτω ακολουθει μοι και αναστας ηκολουθησεν αυτω     And Jesus passing by thence, saw a man sitting at the tax-office, named Matthew, and saith to him, `Be following me,` and he, having risen, did follow him.     et cum transiret inde Iesus vidit hominem sedentem in teloneo Mattheum nomine et ait illi sequere me et surgens secutus est eum
 
10.    It happened as he sat in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and his disciples.     And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.     και εγενετο αυτου ανακειμενου εν τη οικια και ιδου πολλοι τελωναι και αμαρτωλοι ελθοντες συνανεκειντο τω ιησου και τοις μαθηταις αυτου     And it came to pass, he reclining (at meat) in the house, that lo, many tax-gatherers and sinners having come, were lying (at meat) with Jesus and his disciples,     et factum est discumbente eo in domo ecce multi publicani et peccatores venientes discumbebant cum Iesu et discipulis eius
 
11.    When the Pharisees saw it, they said to his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"     And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?     και ιδοντες οι φαρισαιοι ελεγον τοις μαθηταις αυτου δια τι μετα των τελωνων και αμαρτωλων εσθιει ο διδασκαλος υμων     and the Pharisees having seen, said to his disciples, `Wherefore with the tax-gatherers and sinners doth your teacher eat?`     et videntes Pharisaei dicebant discipulis eius quare cum publicanis et peccatoribus manducat magister vester
 
12.    When Jesus heard it, he said to them, "Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do.     But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.     ο δε ακουσας ειπεν ου χρειαν εχουσιν οι ισχυοντες ιατρου αλλ οι κακως εχοντες     And Jesus having heard, said to them, `They who are whole have no need of a physician, but they who are ill;     at Iesus audiens ait non est opus valentibus medico sed male habentibus
 
13.    But you go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,'{Hosea 6:6} for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.{NU omits "to repentance".}"     But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.     πορευθεντες δε μαθετε τι εστιν ελεοσ θελω και ου θυσιαν ου γαρ ηλθον καλεσαι δικαιους αλλα αμαρτωλους     but having gone, learn ye what is, Kindness I will, and not sacrifice, for I did not come to call righteous men, but sinners, to reformation.`     euntes autem discite quid est misericordiam volo et non sacrificium non enim veni vocare iustos sed peccatores
 
14.    Then John's disciples came to him, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples don't fast?"     Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?     τοτε προσερχονται αυτω οι μαθηται ιωαννου λεγοντες δια τι ημεις και οι φαρισαιοι νηστευομεν [πολλα] οι δε μαθηται σου ου νηστευουσιν     Then come to him do the disciples of John, saying, `Wherefore do we and the Pharisees fast much, and thy disciples fast not?`     tunc accesserunt ad eum discipuli Iohannis dicentes quare nos et Pharisaei ieiunamus frequenter discipuli autem tui non ieiunant
 
15.    Jesus said to them, "Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.     And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.     και ειπεν αυτοις ο ιησους μη δυνανται οι υιοι του νυμφωνος πενθειν εφ οσον μετ αυτων εστιν ο νυμφιος ελευσονται δε ημεραι οταν απαρθη απ αυτων ο νυμφιος και τοτε νηστευσουσιν     And Jesus said to them, `Can the sons of the bride-chamber mourn, so long as the bridegroom is with them? but days shall come when the bridegroom may be taken from them, and then they shall fast.     et ait illis Iesus numquid possunt filii sponsi lugere quamdiu cum illis est sponsus venient autem dies cum auferetur ab eis sponsus et tunc ieiunabunt
 
16.    No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch would tear away from the garment, and a worse hole is made.     No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse.     ουδεις δε επιβαλλει επιβλημα ρακους αγναφου επι ιματιω παλαιω αιρει γαρ το πληρωμα αυτου απο του ιματιου και χειρον σχισμα γινεται     `And no one doth put a patch of undressed cloth on an old garment, for its filling up doth take from the garment, and a worse rent is made.     nemo autem inmittit commissuram panni rudis in vestimentum vetus tollit enim plenitudinem eius a vestimento et peior scissura fit
 
17.    Neither do people put new wine into old wineskins, or else the skins would burst, and the wine be spilled, and the skins ruined. No, they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved."     Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.     ουδε βαλλουσιν οινον νεον εις ασκους παλαιους ει δε μη γε ρηγνυνται οι ασκοι και ο οινος εκχειται και οι ασκοι απολλυνται αλλα βαλλουσιν οινον νεον εις ασκους καινους και αμφοτεροι συντηρουνται     `Nor do they put new wine into old skins, and if not -- the skins burst, and the wine doth run out, and the skins are destroyed, but they put new wine into new skins, and both are preserved together.`     neque mittunt vinum novum in utres veteres alioquin rumpuntur utres et vinum effunditur et utres pereunt sed vinum novum in utres novos mittunt et ambo conservantur
 
18.    While he told these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped him, saying, "My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live."     While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.     ταυτα αυτου λαλουντος αυτοις ιδου αρχων εισ ελθων προσεκυνει αυτω λεγων οτι η θυγατηρ μου αρτι ετελευτησεν αλλα ελθων επιθες την χειρα σου επ αυτην και ζησεται     While he is speaking these things to them, lo, a ruler having come, was bowing to him, saying that `My daughter just now died, but, having come, lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.`     haec illo loquente ad eos ecce princeps unus accessit et adorabat eum dicens filia mea modo defuncta est sed veni inpone manum super eam et vivet
 
19.    Jesus got up and followed him, as did his disciples.     And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.     και εγερθεις ο ιησους ηκολουθησεν αυτω και οι μαθηται αυτου     And Jesus having risen, did follow him, also his disciples,     et surgens Iesus sequebatur eum et discipuli eius
 
20.    Behold, a woman who had an issue of blood for twelve years came behind him, and touched the fringe{or, tassel} of his garment;     And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:     και ιδου γυνη αιμορροουσα δωδεκα ετη προσελθουσα οπισθεν ηψατο του κρασπεδου του ιματιου αυτου     and lo, a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, having come to him behind, did touch the fringe of his garments,     et ecce mulier quae sanguinis fluxum patiebatur duodecim annis accessit retro et tetigit fimbriam vestimenti eius
 
21.    for she said within herself, "If I just touch his garment, I will be made well."     For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.     ελεγεν γαρ εν εαυτη εαν μονον αψωμαι του ιματιου αυτου σωθησομαι     for she said within herself, `If only I may touch his garment, I shall be saved.`     dicebat enim intra se si tetigero tantum vestimentum eius salva ero
 
22.    But Jesus, turning around and seeing her, said, "Daughter, cheer up! Your faith has made you well." And the woman was made well from that hour.     But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.     ο δε ιησους στραφεισ και ιδων αυτην ειπεν θαρσει θυγατερ η πιστις σου σεσωκεν σε και εσωθη η γυνη απο της ωρας εκεινης     And Jesus having turned about, and having seen her, said, `Be of good courage, daughter, thy faith hath saved thee,` and the woman was saved from that hour.     at Iesus conversus et videns eam dixit confide filia fides tua te salvam fecit et salva facta est mulier ex illa hora
 
23.    When Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the flute players, and the crowd in noisy disorder,     And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,     και ελθων ο ιησους εις την οικιαν του αρχοντος και ιδων τους αυλητας και τον οχλον θορυβουμενον     And Jesus having come to the house of the ruler, and having seen the minstrels and the multitude making tumult,     et cum venisset Iesus in domum principis et vidisset tibicines et turbam tumultuantem
 
24.    he said to them, "Make room, because the girl isn't dead, but sleeping." They were ridiculing him.     He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.     ελεγεν  αναχωρειτε ου γαρ απεθανεν το κορασιον αλλα καθευδει και κατεγελων αυτου     he saith to them, `Withdraw, for the damsel did not die, but doth sleep,` and they were deriding him;     dicebat recedite non est enim mortua puella sed dormit et deridebant eum
 
25.    But when the crowd was put out, he entered in, took her by the hand, and the girl arose.     But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose.     οτε δε εξεβληθη ο οχλος εισελθων εκρατησεν της χειρος αυτης και ηγερθη το κορασιον     but, when the multitude was put forth, having gone in, he took hold of her hand, and the damsel arose,     et cum eiecta esset turba intravit et tenuit manum eius et surrexit puella
 
26.    The report of this went out into all that land.     And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.     και εξηλθεν η φημη αυτη εις ολην την γην εκεινην     and the fame of this went forth to all the land.     et exiit fama haec in universam terram illam
 
27.    As Jesus passed by from there, two blind men followed him, calling out and saying, "Have mercy on us, son of David!"     And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us.     και παραγοντι εκειθεν τω ιησου ηκολουθησαν [αυτω] δυο τυφλοι κραζοντες και λεγοντες ελεησον ημας υιοσ δαυιδ     And Jesus passing on thence, two blind men followed him, calling and saying, `Deal kindly with us, Son of David.`     et transeunte inde Iesu secuti sunt eum duo caeci clamantes et dicentes miserere nostri Fili David
 
28.    When he had come into the house, the blind men came to him. Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They told him, "Yes, Lord."     And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.     ελθοντι δε εις την οικιαν προσηλθον αυτω οι τυφλοι και λεγει αυτοις ο ιησους πιστευετε οτι δυναμαι τουτο ποιησαι λεγουσιν αυτω ναι κυριε     And he having come to the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus saith to them, `Believe ye that I am able to do this?` They say to him, `Yes, sir.`     cum autem venisset domum accesserunt ad eum caeci et dicit eis Iesus creditis quia possum hoc facere vobis dicunt ei utique Domine
 
29.    Then he touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith be it done to you."     Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.     τοτε ηψατο των οφθαλμων αυτων λεγων κατα την πιστιν υμων γενηθητω υμιν     Then touched he their eyes, saying, `According to your faith let it be to you,`     tunc tetigit oculos eorum dicens secundum fidem vestram fiat vobis
 
30.    Their eyes were opened. Jesus strictly commanded them, saying, "See that no one knows about this."     And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.     και ηνεωχθησαν αυτων οι οφθαλμοι και ενεβριμηθη αυτοις ο ιησους λεγων ορατε μηδεις γινωσκετω     and their eyes were opened, and Jesus strictly charged them, saying, `See, let no one know;`     et aperti sunt oculi illorum et comminatus est illis Iesus dicens videte ne quis sciat
 
31.    But they went out and spread abroad his fame in all that land.     But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.     οι δε εξελθοντες διεφημισαν αυτον εν ολη τη γη εκεινη     but they, having gone forth, did spread his fame in all that land.     illi autem exeuntes diffamaverunt eum in tota terra illa
 
32.    As they went out, behold, a mute man who was demon possessed was brought to him.     As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil.     αυτων δε εξερχομενων ιδου προσηνεγκαν αυτω ανθρωπον κωφον δαιμονιζομενον     And as they are coming forth, lo, they brought to him a man dumb, a demoniac,     egressis autem illis ecce obtulerunt ei hominem mutum daemonium habentem
 
33.    When the demon was cast out, the mute man spoke. The multitudes marveled, saying, "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!"     And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.     και εκβληθεντος του δαιμονιου ελαλησεν ο κωφος και εθαυμασαν οι οχλοι λεγοντες ουδεποτε εφανη ουτως εν τω ισραηλ     and the demon having been cast out, the dumb spake, and the multitude did wonder, saying that `It was never so seen in Israel:`     et eiecto daemone locutus est mutus et miratae sunt turbae dicentes numquam paruit sic in Israhel
 
34.    But the Pharisees said, "By the prince of the demons, he casts out demons."     But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.     οι δε φαρισαιοι ελεγον εν τω αρχοντι των δαιμονιων εκβαλλει τα δαιμονια     but the Pharisees said, `By the ruler of the demons he doth cast out the demons.`     Pharisaei autem dicebant in principe daemoniorum eicit daemones
 
35.    Jesus went about all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.     And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.     και περιηγεν ο ιησους τας πολεις πασας και τας κωμας διδασκων εν ταις συναγωγαις αυτων και κηρυσσων το ευαγγελιον της βασιλειας και θεραπευων πασαν νοσον και πασαν μαλακιαν      And Jesus was going up and down all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the reign, and healing every sickness and every malady among the people.     et circumibat Iesus civitates omnes et castella docens in synagogis eorum et praedicans evangelium regni et curans omnem languorem et omnem infirmitatem
 
36.    But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed{TR reads "weary" instead of "harassed"} and scattered, like sheep without a shepherd.     But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.     ιδων δε τους οχλους εσπλαγχνισθη περι αυτων οτι ησαν εσκυλμενοι και ερριμμενοι ωσει προβατα μη εχοντα ποιμενα     And having seen the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, that they were faint and cast aside, as sheep not having a shepherd,     videns autem turbas misertus est eis quia erant vexati et iacentes sicut oves non habentes pastorem
 
37.    Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest indeed is plentiful, but the laborers are few.     Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;     τοτε λεγει τοις μαθηταις αυτου ο μεν θερισμος πολυς οι δε εργαται ολιγοι     then saith he to his disciples, `The harvest indeed is abundant, but the workmen few;     tunc dicit discipulis suis messis quidem multa operarii autem pauci
 
38.    Pray therefore that the Lord of the harvest will send out laborers into his harvest."     Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.     δεηθητε ουν του κυριου του θερισμου οπως εκβαλη εργατας εις τον θερισμον αυτου     beseech ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he may put forth workmen to His harvest.`     rogate ergo dominum messis ut eiciat operarios in messem suam
