Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah.s will) in Islam.
|
|
And it will come to pass that those who are [now] bent on denying this truth will wish that they had surrendered themselves to God [in their life time].'
|
|
Maybe those who disbelieved wish/love if they were Moslems/submitters/surrenderers.
|
|

|
3. * |
Leave them alone, to enjoy (the good things of this life) and to please themselves: let (false) hope amuse them: soon will knowledge (undeceive them).
|
|
Leave them alone; let them eat and enjoy themselves the while the hope [of vain delights] beguiles them: for in time they will come to know [the truth].
|
|
Leave them eat and they live long/enjoy, and the hope distracts/preoccupies them, so they will/shall know.
|
|
Xrhm yaklwa wytmt`wa wylhhm alaml fswf y`lmwn
|
|
4. * |
Never did We destroy a population that had not a term decreed and assigned beforehand.
|
|
And never have We destroyed any community [for its wrongdoing] unless a divine writ had [previously] been made known to it;`
|
|
And We did not destroy from a village/urban city, except and for it (is) a known Book.
|
|

|
|
5. * |
Neither can a people anticipate its term, nor delay it.
|
|
[but remember that] no community can ever forestall [the end of] its term - and neither can they delay [it].5
|
|
None from a nation precedes its term/time, and they do not delay (it).
|
|

|

They say: "O thou to whom the Message is being revealed! truly thou art mad (or possessed)!
|
|
And yet, they [who deny the truth] say: "O thou unto whom this reminder has [allegedly] been bestowed from on high: verily, thou art mad!
|
|
And they said: "You, you who the reminder/remembrance was descended on him, that you are mad/insane (E)."
|
|

|
|
7. * |
"Why bringest thou not angels to us if it be that thou hast the Truth?"
|
|
Why dost thou not bring before us angels, if thou art a man of truth?"
|
|
If you (could) come to us with the angels, if you were from truthful! (expression of wonderment).
|
|
lw matatyna balmlaYk+ an knt mn alSadqyn
|
|
8. * |
We send not the angels down except for just cause: if they came (to the ungodly), behold! no respite would they have!
|
|
[Yet] We never send down angels otherwise than in accordance with the [demands of] truth;' and [were the angels to appear now,] lo! they [who reject this divine writ] would have no further respite!'
|
|
We do not descend the angels except with the truth, and they (the disbelievers) were not then delayed/waited.
|

mannzl almlaYk+ ala balHq wmakanwa aXa mnZryn
|
|
9. * |
We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption).
|
|
Behold, it is We Ourselves who have bestowed from on high, step by step, this reminder? and, behold, it is We who shall truly guard it [from all corruption]. '°
|
|
That We, We descended the reminder/remembrance, and that We (are) for it, protectors/guards (E).

|
10. * |
We did send apostles before thee amongst the religious sects of old:
|
|
AND, INDEED, [O Prophet,] even before thy time did We send [Our apostles] unto communities" of old -
|
|
And We had descended from before you in the first's/beginner's groups/parties.
|
|
wlqd arslna mn qblk fy $y` alawlyn
|
|
11. * |
But never came an apostle to them but they mocked him.
|
|
and never yet came an apostle to them without their deriding him.
|
|
And none from a messenger comes to them, except they were with him mocking/making fun.
|
|
wmayatyhm mn rswl ala kanwa bh ysthzWwn
|
|
12. * |
Even so do we let it creep into the hearts of the sinners -
|
|
Even so do We [now] cause this [scorn of Our message] to pervade the hearts of those who are lost in sin,
|
|
As/like that We enter/insert it in the criminals'/sinners' hearts/minds.
|
|

|
|
13. * |
That they should not believe in the (Message); but the ways of the ancients have passed away.
|
|
who do not believe in it,". although the way which those [evildoers] of olden times had to go has long been within their ken."
|
|
They do not believe with it, and (the) manner/nature (of) the firsts/beginners had past/expired.
|
|

|
|
14. * |
Even if We opened out to them a gate from heaven, and they were to continue (all day) ascending therein,
|
|
Yet even had We opened to them a gateway to heaven and they had ascended, on and on, up to it,
|
|
And if We opened on them a door/entrance from the sky/space, so they continued/remained in it ascending/zigzagging.
|
|

|
|
15. * |
They would only say: "Our eyes have been intoxicated: Nay, we have been bewitched by sorcery."
|
|
they would surely have said, "It is only our eyes that are spellbound! Nay, we have been bewitched!"
|
|
They would have said: "But our eye/sights/understanding got closed and confused, but we are a bewitched/enchanted nation."
|
|

|
|
16. * |
It is We Who have set out the zodiacal signs in the heavens, and made them fair-seeming to (all) beholders;
|
|
AND, INDEED, We have set up in the heavens great constellations," and endowed them with beauty for all to behold;
|
|
And We had made/created in the sky/space constellations, and We decorated/beautified it to the lookers/seers.
|
|

|
|
17. * |
And (moreover) We have guarded them from every evil spirit accursed:
|
|
and We have made them secure against every satanic force accursed `6-
|
|
And We protected/guarded it from every cursed/expelled devil.
|
|
wHfZnaha mn kl $yTan rjym
|
|
18. * |
But any that gains a hearing by stealth, is pursued by a flaming fire, bright (to see).
|
|
so that anyone who seeks to learn [the unknowable] by stealth is pursued by a flame clear to see."
|
|
Except who eavesdropped the hearing, so a clear/evident light from a fire source/a star followed him.
|
|
ala mn astrq alsm` fatb`h $hab mbyn
|
|
19. * |
And the earth We have spread out (like a carpet); set thereon mountains firm and immovable; and produced therein all kinds of things in due balance.
|
|
And the earth -We have spread it out wide, and placed on it mountains firm, and caused [life] of every kind to grow on it in a balanced manner,
|
|
And the earth/Planet Earth, We extended/spread it, and We threw in it anchors/mountains, and We sprouted/grew in it from every thing weighed/measured/balanced.
|
|

|
|
20. * |
And We have provided therein means of subsistence,- for you and for those for whose sustenance ye are not responsible.
|
|
and provided thereon means of livelihood for you [O men] as well as for all [living beings] whose sustenance does not depend on you.'8
|
|
And We made/created for you in it livelihoods/sustenances, and whom you are not to him with providing for.
|
|

|
|
21. * |
And there is not a thing but its (sources and) treasures (inexhaustible) are with Us; but We only send down thereof in due and ascertainable measures.
|
|
For, no single thing exists that does not have its source with Us;` and nought do We bestow from on high unless it be in accordance with a measure well-defined."
|
|
And that (there is not) from a thing, except at Us (is) its safes (treasures), and We do not descent it except with (a) known measure/quantity.
|
|
wan mn $Y ala `ndna KzaYnh wmannzlh ala bqdr m`lwm
|
|
22. * |
And We send the fecundating winds, then cause the rain to descend from the sky, therewith providing you with water (in abundance), though ye are not the guardians of its stores.
|
|
And We let loose the winds to fertilize [plants] 2' and We send down water from the skies and let you drink thereof: and it is not you who dispose of its source-
|
|
And We sent the winds/breezes (as) pollinators, so We descended from the sky water, so We gave it to you to drink, and you are not for it with storing.
|
|

|
|
23. * |
And verily, it is We Who give life, and Who give death: it is We Who remain inheritors (after all else passes away).
|
|
for, behold, it is We-We alone -who grant life and deal death, and it is We alone who shall remain after all else will have passed away !22
|
|
And that We, We are (E), We revive/make life and We make die, and We are the heirs/inheritants.
|
|
wana lnHn nHyy wnmyt wnHn alwarxwn
|
|
24. * |
To Us are known those of you who hasten forward, and those who lag behind.
|
|
And well do We know [the hearts and deeds,of all human beings - both] those who lived before you and those who will come after you;2'
|
|
And We had known the advanced from you, and We had known the delayed/lagging behind.
|
|
wlqd `lmna almstqdmyn mnkm wlqd `lmna almstaKryn
|
|
25. * |
Assuredly it is thy Lord Who will gather them together: for He is perfect in Wisdom and Knowledge.
|
|
and, behold, it is thy Sustainer who will gather them all together [on Judgment Day]: verily, He is wise, all-knowing!
|
|
And that your Lord, He gathers them, that He is wise/judicious, knowledgeable.
|
|

|
|
26. * |
We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape;
|
|
AND, INDEED, We have created man out of sounding clay, out of dark - slime transmuted 24 -
|
|
And We had created the human/mankind from black (foul mud) dry mud/clay smoothened/rotted.
|
|
wlqd Klqna alansan mn SlSal mn HmA msnwn
|
|
27. * |
And the Jinn race, We had created before, from the fire of a scorching wind.
|
|
whereas the invisible beings We had created, [long] before that, out of the fire of scorching winds."
|
|
And the Jinn, We created him from before from (the) fire's burning wind.
|
|
waljan Klqnah mn qbl mn nar alsmwm
|
|
28. * |
Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud moulded into shape;
|
|
And lo! Thy Sustainer said unto the angels: "Behold, I am about to create mortal man out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted;
|
|
When/if your Lord said to the angels : "That I am creating (a) human/humans from black (foul mud) dry mud/clay smoothened/rotted."
|
|
waX qal rbk llmlaYk+ any Kalq b$ra mn SlSal mn HmA msnwn
|
|
29. * |
"When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him."
|
|
and when I have formed him fully and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down before him in prostration!"
|
|
So when/if I straightened him, and I blew in him from My Soul/Sprit, so fall/land/come to him prostrating.
|
|

|
|
30. * |
So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together:
|
|
Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together,
|
|
So the angels all/all together prostrated.
|
|

|
|
31. * |
Not so Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves.
|
|
save Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves.`'
|
|
Except Satan/Iblis, refused/hated that he be with the prostrating.
|
|
ala ablys abi an ykwn m` alsajdyn
|
|
32. * |
((Allah)) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?"
|
|
Said He: "O Iblis! What is thy reason for not being among those who have prostrated themselves?"
|
|
He said: "You Satan, why (is it) for you (that) you not be with the prostrating?"
|
|
qal yaablys malk ala tkwn m` alsajdyn
|
|
33. * |
(Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape."
|
|
[Ib1Ts] replied: "It is not for me to prostrate myself before mortal man whom Thou hast created out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted!"
|
|
He said: "I was not to prostrate to (a) human You created him from black (foul mud) from dry mud/clay smoothened/rotted."
|
|

|
|
34. * |
((Allah)) said: "Then get thee out from here; for thou art rejected, accursed.
|
|
Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed,
|
|
He said: "So get out from it, so that you are cursed/expelled."
|
|

|
35. * |
"And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment."
|
|
and [My] rejection shall be thy due until the Day of Judgment!"
|
|
And that on you (is) the curse/torture to the Judgment's Day/Resurrection Day.
|
|

|
|
36. * |
(Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised."
|
|
Said [Ib1Ts]: "Then, O my Sustainer, grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead!"
|
|
He said: "My Lord, so delay me to a day they be sent/resurrected/revived."
|
|

|
|
37. * |
((Allah)) said: "Respite is granted thee
|
|
Answered He: "Verily, so be it: thou shalt be among those who are granted respite
|
|
He said: "So that (then) you are from the delayed."
|
|
qal fank mn almnZryn
|
|
38. * |
"Till the Day of the Time appointed."
|
|
till the Day the time whereof is known [to Me alone]."
|
|
To (the) day of the time, the known.
|
|
ali ywm alwqt alm`lwm
|
|
39. * |
(Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair-seeming to them on the earth, and I will put them all in the wrong,-
|
|
[Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, '9 I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them-into grievous error -
|
|
He said: "My Lord with what You misguided/enticed me, I will decorate/beautify for them in the earth/Planet Earth, and I will misguide/entice them (E) all/all together."
|
|

|
|
40. * |
"Except Thy servants among them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)."
|
|
(alll save such of them as are truly Thy servants!"3')
|
|
Except Your worshippers/slaves from them, the faithful/loyal/devoted.
|
|
ala `badk mnhm almKlSyn
|
|
41. * |
((Allah)) said: "This (way of My sincere servants) is indeed a way that leads straight to Me.
|
|
Said He: "This is, with Me. a straight way:"
|
|
He said: "That (is) a straight/direct road/way on Me."
|
|
qal hXa SraT `ly mstqym
|
|
42. * |
"For over My servants no authority shalt thou have, except such as put themselves in the wrong and follow thee."
|
|
verily, thou shalt have no power over My creatures- unless it be such as are [already] lost in grievous error and follow thee [of their own will]:`'
|
|
That My worshippers/slaves, power/control is not for you on them (you have no power/control over My worshippers/slaves) except who followed you from the misguided/failed.
|
|

|
|
43. * |
And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all!
|
|
and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal.
|
|
And that Hell (is) their appointment (E) all/all together.
|
|
wan jhnm lmw`dhm ajm`yn
|
|
44. * |
To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned.
|
|
with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners.-33
|
|
For it (are) seven doors/entrances, to each door/entrance from them (is an) apportioned/divided part/portion.
|
|

|
|
45. * |
The righteous (will be) amid gardens and fountains (of clear-flowing water).
|
|
VERILY, those who are conscious of God [shall find themselves in the hereafter] amidst gardens and springs,
|
|
That the fearing and obeying (are) in treed gardens/paradises and water springs/wells.
|
|

|
|
46. * |
(Their greeting will be): "Enter ye here in peace and security."
|
|
[having been received with the greeting,] "Enter here in peace, secure!"
|
|
Enter it with safety/security/peace, safe/secure.
|
|

|
|
47. * |
And We shall remove from their hearts any lurking sense of injury: (they will be) brothers (joyfully) facing each other on thrones (of dignity).
|
|
And [by then] We shall have removed whatever unworthy thoughts or feelings may have been [lingering] in their breasts, [and they shall rest] as brethren, facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness.'°
|
|
And We removed/pulled away what (is) in their chests (innermosts) from hatred/animosity, brothers on beds/sofas facing each other.
|
|
wnz`na mafy Sdwrhm mn Gl aKwana `li srr mtqablyn
|
|
48. * |
There no sense of fatigue shall touch them, nor shall they (ever) be asked to leave.
|
|
No weariness shall ever touch them in this [state of bliss], and never shall they have to forgo it."
|
|
Hardship/fatigue does not touch them in it, and they are not with being brought out from it.
|
|

|
|
49. * |
Tell My servants that I am indeed the Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful;
|
|
Tell My servants that I - I alone - am truly forgiving, a true dispenser of grace;
|
|
Inform My worshippers/slaves, that I, I am the forgiving, the merciful.
|
|

|
|
50. * |
And that My Penalty will be indeed the most grievous Penalty.
|
|
and [also,] that the suffering which I shall impose [on sinners] will indeed be a suffering most grievous."
|
|
And that My torture, it is the torture, the painful.
|

|
|
51. * |
Tell them about the guests of Abraham.
|
|
AND TELL THEM [once again] about Abraham's guests"-
|
|
And inform them about Abraham's guests.
|
|

|
|
52. * |
When they entered his presence and said, "Peace!" He said, "We feel afraid of you!"
|
|
[how,] when they presented themselves before him and bade him peace, he answered: "Behold, we are afraid of you!"
|
|
When/if they entered on (to) him, so they said: "Greeting/peace." He said: "That we are afraid/apprehensive from you."
|
|

|
|
53. * |
They said: "Fear not! We give thee glad tidings of a son endowed with wisdom."
|
|
Said they: "Fear not! Behold, we bring thee the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who will be endowed with deep knowledge."
|
|
They said: "Do not be afraid/apprehensive, that we, we announce good news to you with (of) a knowledgeable boy (new son)."
|
|

|
|
54. * |
He said: "Do ye give me glad tidings that old age has seized me? Of what, then, is your good news?"
|
|
Said he: "Do you give me this glad tiding despite the fact that old age has overtaken me? Of what [strange thing], then, are you giving me a tiding!"
|
|
He said: "Did you announce good news to me on that the old age touched me so with what (do) you announce177good news to me?"
|
|
qal ab$rtmwny `li an msny alkbr fbm tb$rwn
|
|
55. * |
They said: "We give thee glad tidings in truth: be not then in despair!"
|
|
They answered: "We have given thee the glad tiding of something that is bound to come true.-' so be not of those who abandon hope!"
|
|
They said: "We announced to you with the good news, so do not be from the despaired/despairing."
|
|

|
|
56. * |
He said: "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord, but such as go astray?"
|
|
[Abraham] exclaimed: "And who-other than those who have utterly lost their way-could ever abandon the hope of his Sustainer's grace?"
|
|
He said: "And who despairs from his Lord's mercy, except the misguided?"
|
|
qal wmn yqnT mn rHm+ rbh ala alDalwn
|
|
57. * |
Abraham said: "What then is the business on which ye (have come), O ye messengers (of Allah.?"
|
|
He added: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?"
|
|
He said: "So what (is) your matter/affair/concern, you, the messengers?"
|
|

|
|
58. * |
They said: "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin,
|
|
They answered: "We are sent to people lost in sin" [who are to be destroyed],
|
|
They said: "We are sent to a nation (of) criminals/sinners."
|
|
qalwa ana arslna ali qwm mjrmyn
|
|
59. * |
"Excepting the adherents of Lut: them we are certainly (charged) to save (from harm),- All -
|
|
barring Lot's household, all of whom, behold, we shall save -
|
|
Except Lot's family, We are saving/rescuing them (E) all together.
|
|
ala al lwT ana lmnjwhm ajm`yn
|
|
60. * |
"Except his wife, who, We have ascertained, will be among those who will lag behind."
|
|
excepting only his wife, [of whom God says,] `We have ordained [that], behold, she should be among those who stay behind!' '4z
|
|
Except his woman (wife). We predestined/evaluated that she truly is from (E) the remaining behind.
|
|

|
|
61. * |
At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut,
|
|
AND WHEN the messengers [of God] came to the house of Lot,
|
|
So when the messengers came (to) Lot's family.
|
|

|
|
62. * |
He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk."
|
|
he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here] !"
|
|
He said: "That you are a disguised/unknown nation."
|
|
qal ankm qwm mnkrwn
|
|
63. * |
They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt.
|
|
They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question,"
|
|
They said: "But we came to you, with what they were in it doubting/arguing."
|
|
qalwa bl jYnak bmakanwa fyh ymtrwn
|
|
64. * |
"We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth.
|
|
and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment] :4s for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed.
|
|
And we came/brought (to) you with the truth, and that we are truthful (E).
|
|

|
65. * |
"Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered."
|
|
Go, then., with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back,' but proceed whither you are bidden."
|
|
So move/travel/depart at night with your family/people with portions from the night and follow their backs/ends; and no one from you (should) turn around, and proceed/complete where/when you are being ordered/commanded.
|
|
fasr bahlk bqT` mn allyl watb` adbarhm wlayltft mnkm aHd wamDwa Hyx tWmrwn
|
|
66. * |
And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning.
|
|
And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn."
|
|
And We ordered/passed judgment to him (of) that the matter/affair/order/command, that those (people's) root/remainder (is) cut off/severed by the morning/daybreak.
|
|
wqDyna alyh Xlk alamr an dabr hWla' mqTw` mSbHyn
|
|
67. * |
The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men).
|
|
And the people of the city came [unto Lot], rejoicing at the glad tiding."8
|
|
And the city's/town's people came cheerful/rejoicing."
|
|

|
|
68. * |
Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not:
|
|
Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame,
|
|
He said: "That those (are) my guests, so do not expose my faults (scandalize me)."
|
|

|
|
69. * |
"But fear Allah, and shame me not."
|
|
but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!"

And fear and obey God and do not shame/disgrace me.

They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?"
|
|
They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?"9 relevant notes. AL-HlJR SCRAH
|
|
They said: "And did we not forbid/prevent you from the creations all together/(universes)?"
|
|
qalwa awlm nnhk `n al`almyn
|
|
71. * |
He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)."
|
|
[Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine," if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!"
|
|
He said: "Those (are) my daughters, if you were making/doing."
|
|
qal hWla' bnaty an kntm fa`lyn
|
|
72. * |
Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro.
|
|
[But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:]5' behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blit*ly stumbling to and fro!"
|
|
To your life/age (an oath) that they truly are in (E) their intoxication/loss of judgment being confused/puzzled.
|
|

|
|
73. * |
But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning,
|
|
And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them32 at the time of sunrise,
|
|
So the loud strong cry/torture raid took/punished them at sunrise.
|
|
faKXthm alSyH+ m$rqyn
|
|
74. * |
And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay.
|
|
and We turned those [sinful towns} upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained.s'
|
|
So We made its highest/elevated, its lowest/bottom, and We rained on them stones of dry and hardened mud.
|
|

|
|
75. * |
Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand.
|
|
Verily, in all this there are messages indeed for those who can read the signs:"
|
|
That in that (are) evidences/signs (E), to the observing/scrutinizing.
|
|
an fy Xlk layat llmtwsmyn
|
|
76. * |
And the (cities were) right on the high-road.
|
|
for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists."
|
|
And that it truly is with a continuing/keeping up path/means (E).
|
|
wanha lsbyl mqym
|
|
77. * |
Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed.
|
|
Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God].
|
|
That in that (is) a sign/evidence (E) to the believers.
|
|
an fy Xlk lay+ llmWmnyn
|
|
78. * |
And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers;
|
|
AND THE DWELLERS of the wooded dales [of Madyan, too,] were inveterate evildoers,
|
|
And if owners/company (of) the thicket/dense tangled trees were unjust/oppressive (E).
|
|
wan kan aSHab alayk+ lZalmyn
|
|
79. * |
So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see.
|
|
and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And, behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to seed'
|
|
So We revenged from them that they (B) truly (the two nations) are with a clear/evident leader/example (E).
|
|

|
|
80. * |
The Companions of the Rocky Tract also rejected the apostles:
|
|
AND, [likewise,] indeed, the people of AI-Hijr51 gave the lie to [Our] message-bearers:
|
|
And the forbidden's/mind's owners/company denied the messengers.
|
|
wlqd kXb aSHab alHjr almrslyn
|
|
81. * |
We sent them Our Sings, but they persisted in turning away from them.
|
|
for We did vouchsafe them Our messages, but they obstinately turned their backs upon them-
|
|
And We gave/brought them Our verses/evidences, so they were objecting/opposing/turning away from it.
|
|
watynahm ayatna fkanwa `nha m`rDyn
|
|
82. * |
Out of the mountains did they hew (their) edifices, (feeling themselves) secure.
|
|
notwithstanding commentary on this verse. The of [God's] punish that they had been wont [to enjoy Our blessings and] to hew out dwellings from the mountains, [wherein they could live] in security" -:
|
|
And they were carving out/cutting from the mountains houses/homes safely/securely.
|
|
wkanwa ynHtwn mn aljbal bywta amnyn
|
|
83. * |
But the (mighty) Blast seized them of a morning,
|
|
and so the blast [of Our punishmennt] overtook them at early morn,
|
|
So the loud strong cry/torture raid took/punished them in the morning/daybreak. 178
|
|
faKXthm alSyH+ mSbHyn
|
|
84. * |
And of no avail to them was all that they did (with such art and care)!
|
|
and of no avail to them was all [the power] that they had acquired.
|
|
So what they were gaining/acquiring did not enrich/suffice them from them (was of no benefit to them).
|
|
fma aGni `nhm ma kanwa yksbwn
|
|
85. * |
We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, but for just ends. And the Hour is surely coming (when this will be manifest). So overlook (any human faults) with gracious forgiveness.
|
|
AND [remember:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without [an inner] truth;' but, behold, the Hour [when this will become clear to all] is indeed yet to come. Hence, forgive [men's failings] with fair forbearance:
|
|
And We did not create the skies/space and the earth/Planet Earth and what (is) between them (B) except with the truth, and that truly the Hour/Resurrection is coming (E) so forgive/pardon the forgiveness/pardon, the beautiful/graceful.
|
|
wmaKlqna alsmawat walarD wmabynhma ala balHq wan alsa`+ laty+ faSfH alSfH aljmyl
|
|
86. * |
For verily it is thy Lord who is the Master-Creator, knowing all things.
|
|
verily, thy Sustainer is the all-knowing Creator of all things !61
|
|
That truly your Lord (is) the creator (E), the knowledgeable.
|
|
an rbk hw alKlaq al`lym
|
|
87. * |
And We have bestowed upon thee the Seven Oft-repeated (verses) and the Grand Qur'an.
|
|
AND, INDEED, We have bestowed upon thee seven of the oft-repeated [verses], and [have, thus, laid open before thee] this sublime Qur'an:62
|
|
And We had given/brought you seven from the doubles/strength/capacity and the Koran, the great.
|
|
wlqd atynak sb`a mn almxany walqran al`Zym
|
|
88. * |
Strain not thine eyes. (Wistfully) at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them, nor grieve over them: but lower thy wing (in gentleness) to the believers.
|
|
[so] turn, not thine eyes [longingly] towards the worldly benefits which We have granted unto some 63 of those [that deny the truth]. And neither grieve over those [who refuse to heed thee], but spread the wings of thy tenderness over the believers,"
|
|
Do not extend/spread your two eyes to what We made spouses/couples from them enjoy with it, and do not be sad/grievous on (for) them, and be lenient/comforting/lower your wing/side (kindness) to the believers.
|
|
latmdn `ynyk ali mamt`na bh azwaja mnhm wlatHzn `lyhm waKfD jnaHk llmWmnyn
|
|
89. * |
And say: "I am indeed he that warneth openly and without ambiguity,"-
|
|
and say: "Behold, I am indeed the plain warner [promised by God] !-61
|
|
And say: "That I, I am the warner/giver of notice, the clear/evident."
|
|
wql any ana alnXyr almbyn
|
|
90. * |
(Of just such wrath) as We sent down on those who divided (Scripture into arbitrary parts),-
|
|
[For, thou art the bearer of a divine writ66] such AL-HIJR SCRAH 15 as We have bestowed from on high upon those who [afterwards] broke it up into parts ,e'
|
|
As We descended on the apportioners/dividers/distributors.
|
|
kma anzlna `li almqtsmyn
|
|
91. * |
(So also on such) as have made Qur'an into shreds (as they please).
|
|
[and] who [now] declare this Qur'an to be [a tissue of] falsehoods!
|
|
Those who made the Koran bits/divisions/enchantments.
|
|
alXyn j`lwa alqran `Dyn
|
|
92. * |
Therefore, by the Lord, We will, of a surety, call them to account,
|
|
But, by thy Sustainer! [On the Day of Judgment] We shall indeed call them to account, one and all,
|
|
So by/with your Lord, We will ask/question them (E) all together.
|
|
fwrbk lnsAlnhm ajm`yn
|
|
93. * |
For all their deeds.
|
|
for whatever they have done!
|
|
About what they were making/doing.
|
|
`ma kanwa y`mlwn
|
|
94. * |
Therefore expound openly what thou art commanded, and turn away from those who join false gods with Allah.
|
|
Hence, proclaim openly all that thou hast been bidden [to say], and leave alone all those who ascribe divinity to aught beside God:
|
|
So uncover/declare openly with what you are being ordered/commanded, and turn away from the sharers/takers of partners (with God).
|
|
faSd` bmatWmr wa`rD `n alm$rkyn
|
|
95. * |
For sufficient are We unto thee against those who scoff,-
|
|
verily, We shall suffice thee against all who [now] deride [this message - all]
|
|
That We truly make you sufficient (protect you) against the mocking/making fun.
|
|
ana kfynak almsthzYyn
|
|
96. * |
Those who adopt, with Allah, another god: but soon will they come to know.
|
|
who assert that there are, side by side with God, other divine powers as well:b9 for in time they will come to know [the truth].
|
|
Those who create/put with God another god, so they will/shall know.
|
|
alXyn yj`lwn m` allh alha aKr fswf y`lmwn
|
|
97. * |
We do indeed know how thy heart is distressed at what they say.
|
|
And well do We know that thy bosom is constricted by the [blasphemous] things that they say:
|
|
And We had know (known) that you, your chest (innermost) narrows/tightens becuase (of) what they say.
|
|
wlqd n`lm ank yDyq Sdrk bma yqwlwn
|
|
98. * |
But celebrate the praises of thy Lord, and be of those who prostrate themselves in adoration.
|
|
but extol thou thy Sustainer's limitless glory and praise Him, and be of those who prostrate themselves [before Him] in adoration,
|
|
So praise/glorify with your Lord's praise/gratitude/thanks, and be from the prostrating.
|
|

|
|
99. * |
And serve thy Lord until there come unto thee the Hour that is Certain.
|
|
and worship thy Sustainer till death comes to thee.'°
|
|
And worship your Lord, until the assurance/certainty (death) comes to you. 179

|
|
