Woe to those that deal in fraud,-
|
|
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure:
|
|
Calamity/scandal to the ones giving insufficient or deficient measures.
|
|

|
2. * |
Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure,
|
|
those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full -
|
|
Those who if they took by measure or weight for themselves on (from) the people, they fulfill/complete (the measure or weight).
|
|
alXyn aXa aktalwa `li alnas ystwfwn
|
|
3. * |
But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due.
|
|
but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due!*
|
|
And if they measured/weighed for them or they weighed/measured for them, they reduce/decrease (cheat).

|
waXa kalwhm aw wznwhm yKsrwn
|
|
4. * |
Do they not think that they will be called to account?-
|
|
Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead
|
|
Do those not think/assume that they are being resurrected/revived?
|
|
alayZn awlYk anhm mb`wxwn
|
|
5. * |
On a Mighty Day,
|
|
[and called to account] on an awesome Day -
|
|
To a great day/time?
|
|

|
|
6. * |
A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds?
|
|
the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds?
|
|
A day/time the people stand to the creations all together's/(universes') Lord.
|
|
ywm yqwm alnas lrb al`almyn
|
|
7. * |
Day! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin.
|
|
NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable!*
|
|
No but that truly the debauchers'/corrupters' Book/judgment (is) in (E) Sijjin.
|
|

|
8. * |
And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is?
|
|
And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be?
|
|
And what made you know/informed you what (is) Sijjin ?
|
|

|
|
9. * |
(There is) a Register (fully) inscribed.
|
|
A record [indelibly] inscribed!
|
|
A written/branded/inscribed Book.
|
|

|
|
10. * |
Woe, that Day, to those that deny-
|
|
Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth -
|
|
Calamity/scandal (on) that day to the liars/deniers/falsifiers.
|
|

|
|
11. * |
Those that deny the Day of Judgment.
|
|
those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day:
|
|
Those who lie/deny/falsify with the Judgment Day/Resurrection Day.
|
|
alXyn ykXbwn bywm aldyn
|
|
12. * |
And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner!
|
|
for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin:*
|
|
And none lies/denies/falsifiers with it except every/each transgressor/violator, sinner/criminal.
|
|

|
|
13. * |
When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!"
|
|
[and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say, "Fables of ancient times!"
|
|
When/if Our verses/evidences are read/recited on him he said: "The first's/beginner's myths/baseless stories."
|
|
aXa ttli `lyh ayatna qal asaTyr alawlyn
|
|
14. * |
By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do!
|
|
Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do!*
|
|
No but, rather (it) dominated/overwhelmed on their hearts/minds, what they were gaining/acquiring.
|
|

|
|
15. * |
Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled.
|
|
Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred;
|
|
No but, that they truly are from their Lord (on) that day being prevented (E).
|
|

|
|
16. * |
Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell.
|
|
and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire
|
|
Then that they truly are entering into the fire/roasting (E) the Hell.
|
|
xm anhm lSalwa aljHym
|
|
17. * |
Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false!
|
|
and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!"
|
|
Then (it) will be said: "That (is) what you were with it lying/denying/falsifying."
|
|
xm yqal hXa alXy kntm bh tkXbwn
|
|
18. * |
Day, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin.
|
|
NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty!*
|
|
No but, that truly the righteous'/charitable' Book/judgment (is) in (E) Eley'yeen/height/elevation.
|
|

|
|
19. * |
And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is?
|
|
And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be?
|
|
And what made you know/informed you what (is) Eley'yoon/highest places ?
|
|

|
|
20. * |
(There is) a Register (fully) inscribed,
|
|
A record [indelibly] inscribed,
|
|
A written/branded/inscribed Book.
|
|

|
|
21. * |
To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah..
|
|
witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God.*
|
|
The neared/closer witness it.
|
|
y$hdh almqrbwn
|
|
22. * |
Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss:
|
|
Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss:
|
|
That truly the righteous/charitable (are) in (E) blessing/goodness.
|
|

|
|
23. * |
On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things):
|
|
[restingJ on couches, they will look up [to God]:*
|
|
On the luxurious beds/couches they look/watch.
|
|
`li alaraYk ynZrwn
|
|
24. * |
Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss.
|
|
upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss.
|
|
You know in their faces/fronts the blessing's/goodness' beauty and goodness (brightness).
|
|
t`rf fy wjwhhm nDr+ aln`ym
|
|
25. * |
Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed:
|
|
They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set,
|
|
They are being given water/drink from sealed/completed pure nectar.
|
|
ysqwn mn rHyq mKtwm
|
|
26. * |
The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations:
|
|
pouring forth with a fragrance of musk.* To that [wine of paradise], then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account:
|
|
Its end/conclusion (is) musk/fragrance, and in (for) that so the competitors/rivals should compete/rival.
|
|
Ktamh msk wfy Xlk flytnafs almtnafswn
|
|
27. * |
With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim:
|
|
for it is composed of all that is most exalting*
|
|
And its mixture/blend (is) from paradises' valuable water.
|
|
wmzajh mn tsnym
|
|
28. * |
A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah.
|
|
a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink.*
|
|
A water spring/well, the neared/closer drink by (near) it.
|
|
`yna y$rb bha almqrbwn
|
|
29. * |
Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed,
|
|
BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith*
|
|
That truly those who committed crimes/sins were laughing/wondering from (about) those who believed.
|
|
an alXyn ajrmwa kanwa mn alXyn amnwa yDHkwn
|
|
30. * |
And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery);
|
|
and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively];
|
|
And when/if they passed by them, they signal/wink to each other.
|
|
waXa mrwa bhm ytGamzwn
|
|
31. * |
And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting;
|
|
and whenever they return to people of their own kind,* they return full of jests;
|
|
And when/if they returned to their people/family, they returned enjoying/humorous.
|
|
waXa anqlbwa ali ahlhm anqlbwa fkhyn
|
|
32. * |
And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!"
|
|
and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say, "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!"
|
|
And when/if they saw them they said: "That truly, those are misguided (E)."
|
|
waXa rawhm qalwa an hWla' lDalwn
|
|
33. * |
But they had not been sent as keepers over them!
|
|
And, withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others. . .*
|
|
And they were not sent on them protecting/observing.
|
|
wmaarslwa `lyhm HafZyn
|
|
34. * |
But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers:
|
|
But on the Day [of Judgment], they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth:*
|
|
So the day/today those who believed are laughing/wondering from (about) the disbelievers.
|
|
falywm alXyn amnwa mn alkfar yDHkwn
|
|
35. * |
On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things).
|
|
[for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]:
|
|
On the luxurious beds/couches they (are) looking/watching.
|
|
`li alaraYk ynZrwn
|
|
36. * |
Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did?
|
|
"Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?"
|
|
Did the disbelievers become rewarded/replaced what they were making/doing ?462
|
|
hl xwb alkfar makanwa yf`lwn
|
|
