By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);-

CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night!*

And/by the sky/space, and/by the Night Comer/star (Morning Star).

And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?-
|
|
And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night?
|
|
And what made you know/informed you what the Night Comer/star (Morning Star is)?

3. * |
(It is) the Star of piercing brightness;-
|
|
It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness:
|
|
The star/planet, the lit/penetrating.
|
|

|
4. * |
There is no soul but has a protector over it.
|
|
[for] no human being has ever been left unguarded.*
|
|
That truly every/each self (is) except on it a protector/safe keeper.
|

Now let man but think from what he is created!
|
|
LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created:
|
|
So the human/mankind should look/see from what he was created.
|

He is created from a drop emitted-
|
|
he has been created out of a seminal fluid
|
|
He was created from water pouring/flowing forcefully.
|
|

Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs:
|
|
issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman].*
|
|
It emerges/appears from between the spine and the rib bones.

Surely ((Allah)) is able to bring him back (to life)!
|
|
Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life]
|
|
That He truly (is) on returning him capable/able (E).

9. * |
The Day that (all) things secret will be tested,
|
|
on the Day when all I secrets will be laid bare,
|
|
A day/time the secrets/intentions be tested.
|
|

10. * |
(Man) will have no power, and no helper.
|
|
and [man] will have neither strength nor helper!
|
|
So (there is) no strength/power, and nor victorior/savior for him.

By the Firmament which returns (in its round),
|
|
Consider* the heavens, ever-revolving,
|
|
And the sky/space that of the rain after rain/benefit.

|

And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),-
|
|
and the earth, bursting forth with plants!
|
|
And the earth/Planet Earth that of the split/separation/geological rift-fault line.

13. * |
Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil):
|
|
BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that between truth and falsehood,*
|
|
That it truly is a word/statement (of) judgment/partition (decisive).

It is not a thing for amusement.
|
|
and is no idle tale.
|
|
And it is not with (of) the joke/fun.
|

As for them, they are but plotting a scheme,
|
|
Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument* [to disprove its truth];
|
|
That they truly plot/conspire a plot/conspiracy.

And I am planning a scheme.
|
|
but I shall bring all their scheming to nought.*
|
|
And I plot/conspire a plot/conspiracy.

Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile).
|
|
Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while!
|
|
So delay/give time (to) the disbelievers, delay them/give them time slowly/gently.
