1.  *     By the break of Day     CONSIDER the daybreak     And/by the dawn     swr+ alfjr bsm allh alrHmn alrHym ?_ walfjr
 
2.  *     By the Nights twice five;     and the ten nights!*     And/by ten nights.     wlyal `$r
 
3.  *     By the even and odd (contrasted);     Consider the multiple and the One!*     And/by the double/even number, and the odd/singular/uneven.     wal$f` walwtr
 
4.  *     And by the Night when it passeth away;-     Consider the night as it runs its course!*     And/by the night when (it) goes/departs.     wallyl aXa ysr
 
5.  *     Is there (not) in these an adjuration (or evidence) for those who understand?     Considering all this - could there be, to anyone endowed with reason, a [more] solemn evidence of the truth?*     Is in that an oath to (those) of (E) a mind?     hl fy Xlk qsm lXy Hjr
 
6.  *     Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),-     ART THOU NOT aware of how thy Sustainer has dealt with [the tribe of] `Ad,*     Did you not see/understand how your Lord made/did with Aad?     alm tr kyf f`l rbk b`ad
 
7.  *     Of the (city of) Iram, with lofty pillars,     [the people of] Iram the many-pillared,     Iram that of the pillars/posts ?     arm Xat al`mad
 
8.  *     The like of which were not produced in (all) the land?     the like of whom has never been reared in all the land? -     Which was not created similar/equal to it in the countries/cities ?     alty lm yKlq mxlha fy alblad
 
9.  *     And with the Thamud (people), who cut out (huge) rocks in the valley?-     and with [the tribe of] Thamud,* who hollowed out rocks in the valley? -     And Thamud who pierced/penetrated the rock/rock terrain at the valley?     wxmwd alXyn jabwa alSKr balwad
 
10.  *     And with Pharaoh, lord of stakes?     and with Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles?*     And Pharaoh that of the stakes/pegs/nails ?     wfr`wn Xy alawtad
 
11.  *     (All) these transgressed beyond bounds in the lands,     [It was they] who transgressed all bounds of equity all over their lands,     Those who tyrannized/exceeded the limit in the countries/cities.     alXyn TGwa fy alblad
 
12.  *     And heaped therein mischief (on mischief).     and brought about great corruption therein:     So they increased (made too much) in it the corruption.     fakxrwa fyha alfsad
 
13.  *     Therefore did thy Lord pour on them a scourge of diverse chastisements:     and therefore thy Sustainer let loose upon them a scourge of suffering:     So your Lord poured on them (the) torture's intensity/severity.     fSb `lyhm rbk swT `Xab
 
14.  *     For thy Lord is (as a Guardian) on a watch-tower.     for, verily, thy Sustainer is ever on the watch!     That truly your Lord (is) at the watch/observation/ambuscade (E).     an rbk lbalmrSad
 
15.  *     Now, as for man, when his Lord trieth him, giving him honour and gifts, then saith he, (puffed up), "My Lord hath honoured me."     BUT AS FOR man, whenever his Sustainer tries him by His generosity and by letting him enjoy a life of ease, he says, "My Sustainer has been [justly] generous towards me";*     So but the human/mankind when as long as his Lord tested him, so he honoured him and He blessed/comforted and eased him, so he says: "My Lord honored me."     fama alansan aXa maabtlah rbh fakrmh wn`mh fyqwl rby akrmn
 
16.  *     But when He trieth him, restricting his subsistence for him, then saith he (in despair), "My Lord hath humiliated me!"     whereas, whenever He tries him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Sustainer has disgraced me!"*     And but when as long as He tested him, so He tightened/strained on him His/his provision, so he says: "My Lord humiliated/disgraced/degraded me."     wama aXa maabtlah fqdr `lyh rzqh fyqwl rby ahann
 
17.  *     Nay, nay! but ye honour not the orphans!     But nay, nay, [O men, consider all that you do and fail to do:] you are not generous towards the orphan,     No but, you do not honour/be kind/generous (to) the orphan.     kla bl latkrmwn alytym
 
18.  *     Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!-     and you do not urge one another to feed the needy,*     And nor you urge/insight/influence on feeding the poorest of poor/poor oppressed.     wlatHaDwn `li T`am almskyn
 
19.  *     And ye devour inheritance - all with greed,     and you devour the inheritance [of others] with devouring greed,     And you eat the inheritance accumulatively/collectively gluttony.     wtaklwn altrax akla lma
 
20.  *     And ye love wealth with inordinate love!     and you love wealth with boundless love!     And you love/like the property/possession/wealth lovingly excessively.     wtHbwn almal Hba jma
 
21.  *     Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder,     Nay, but [how will you fare on Judgment Day,] when the earth is crushed with crushing upon crushing,     No but, when/if the earth/Planet Earth was hammered down/crushed, crushingly/destroyingly,crushingly/destroyingly.     kla aXa dkt alarD dka dka
 
22.  *     And thy Lord cometh, and His angels, rank upon rank,     and [the majesty of] thy Sustainer stands revealed,* as well as [the true nature of] the angels; rank upon rank?     And your Lord came and the angels (in) a row/arranged (after) a row/arranged.     wja' rbk walmlk Sfa Sfa
 
23.  *     And Hell, that Day, is brought (face to face),- on that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance profit him?     And on that Day hell will be brought [within sight]; on that Day man will remember [all that he did and failed to do]: but what will that remembrance avail him?     And came (on) that day with Hell ; that day the human/mankind remembers/mentions, and from where (is) for him the remembrance/reminder?     wjyY ywmYX bjhnm ywmYX ytXkr alansan wani lh alXkri
 
24.  *     He will say: "Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life!"     He will say, "Oh, would that I had. provided beforehand for my life [to come]!"     He says: "Oh if only I advanced/presented/preceded for my life."     yqwl yalytny qdmt lHyaty
 
25.  *     For, that Day, His Chastisement will be such as none (else) can inflict,     For, none can make suffer as He will make suffer [the sinners] on that Day,     So (on) that day no one tortures His torture.     fywmYX lay`Xb `Xabh aHd
 
26.  *     And His bonds will be such as none (other) can bind.     and none can bind with bonds like His.*     And no one ties/chains/affirms His tying/chaining (restraining).     wlaywxq wxaqh aHd
 
27.  *     (To the righteous soul will be said:) "O (thou) soul, in (complete) rest and satisfaction!     [But unto the righteous God will say,] "O thou human being that hast attained to inner peace!     You, you the self, the assured/tranquil.     yaaytha alnfs almTmYn+
 
28.  *     "Come back thou to thy Lord,- well pleased (thyself), and well-pleasing unto Him!     Return thou unto thy Sustainer, well-pleased [and] pleasing [Him]:     Return to your Lord accepting/approving, accepted/approved.     arj`y ali rbk raDy+ mrDy+
 
29.  *     "Enter thou, then, among My devotees!     enter, then, together with My [other true] servants -     So enter in (among) My worshippers/servants.     fadKly fy `bady
 
30.  *     "Yea, enter thou My Heaven!     yea, enter thou My paradise!"     And enter My treed garden/paradise.469     wadKly jnty
