1.  *     A. L. R. These are the Ayats of Revelation,- of a Qur'an that makes things clear.     A.L.R. These (letters) are proofs of this scripture; a profound Quran.     سورة الحجر بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ــــ الر تلك ايات الكتاب وقران مبين     A L R, those are The Book's evidences/verses, and (an) evident/clear Koran.         Alif-lam-ratilkaayatu alkitabi waqur-anin mubeenin
 
2.  *     Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah.s will) in Islam.     Certainly, those who disbelieved will wish they were submitters.     ربما يود الذين كفروا لو كانوا مسلمين     Maybe those who disbelieved wish/love if they were Moslems/submitters/surrenderers.         Rubamayawaddu allatheena kafaroo law kanoo muslimeena
 
3.  *     Leave them alone, to enjoy (the good things of this life) and to please themselves: let (false) hope amuse them: soon will knowledge (undeceive them).     Let them eat, enjoy, and remain blinded by wishful thinking; they will find out.     ذرهم ياكلوا ويتمتعوا ويلههم الامل فسوف يعلمون     Leave them eat and they live long/enjoy, and the hope distracts/preoccupies them, so they will/shall know.         Tharhum ya\kuloo wayatamattaAAoo wayulhihimu al-amalu fasawfa yaAAlamoona
 
4.  *     Never did We destroy a population that had not a term decreed and assigned beforehand.     We never annihilated any community, except in accordance with a specific, predetermined time.     ومااهلكنا من قرية الا ولها كتاب معلوم     And We did not destroy from a village/urban city, except and for it (is) a known Book.         Wamaahlaknamin qaryatin illawalahakitabun maAAloomun
 
5.  *     Neither can a people anticipate its term, nor delay it.     The end of any community can never be advanced, nor delayed.     ماتسبق من امة اجلها ومايستأخرون     None from a nation precedes its term/time, and they do not delay (it).         Matasbiqu min ommatin ajalahawamayasta\khiroona
 
6.  *     They say: "O thou to whom the Message is being revealed! truly thou art mad (or possessed)!     They said, "O you who received this reminder, you are crazy.     وقالوا ياايها الذي نزل عليه الذكر انك لمجنون     And they said: "You, you who the reminder/remembrance was descended on him, that you are mad/insane (E)."         Waqaloo yaayyuhaallathee nuzzila AAalayhi alththikru innaka lamajnoonun
 
7.  *     "Why bringest thou not angels to us if it be that thou hast the Truth?"     "Why do you not bring down the angels, if you are truthful?"     لو ماتاتينا بالملائكة ان كنت من الصادقين     If you (could) come to us with the angels, if you were from truthful! (expression of wonderment).         Law mata\teenabialmala-ikati in kunta mina alssadiqeena
 
8.  *     We send not the angels down except for just cause: if they came (to the ungodly), behold! no respite would they have!     We do not send down the angels except for specific functions. Otherwise, no one will be respited.     ماننزل الملائكة الا بالحق وماكانوا اذا منظرين     We do not descend the angels except with the truth, and they (the disbelievers) were not then delayed/waited.         Manunazzilu almala-ikata illabialhaqqi wamakanoo ithan munthareena
 
9.  *     We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption).     Absolutely, we have revealed the reminder, and, absolutely, we will preserve it.     انا نحن نزلنا الذكر وانا له لحافظون     That We, We descended the reminder/remembrance, and that We (are) for it, protectors/guards (E).         Innanahnu nazzalnaalththikra wa-innalahu lahafithoona
 
10.  *     We did send apostles before thee amongst the religious sects of old:     We have sent (messengers) before you to the communities in the past.     ولقد ارسلنا من قبلك في شيع الاولين     And We had descended from before you in the first's/beginner's groups/parties.         Walaqad arsalnamin qablika fee shiyaAAi al-awwaleena
 
11.  *     But never came an apostle to them but they mocked him.     Every time a messenger went to them, they ridiculed him.     وماياتيهم من رسول الا كانوا به يستهزؤون     And none from a messenger comes to them, except they were with him mocking/making fun.         Wamaya\teehim min rasoolin illakanoo bihi yastahzi-oona
 
12.  *     Even so do we let it creep into the hearts of the sinners -     We thus control the minds of the guilty.     كذلك نسلكه في قلوب المجرمين     As/like that We enter/insert it in the criminals'/sinners' hearts/minds.         Kathalika naslukuhu fee quloobi almujrimeena
 
13.  *     That they should not believe in the (Message); but the ways of the ancients have passed away.     Consequently, they cannot believe in him. This has been the system since the past generations.     لايؤمنون به وقد خلت سنة الاولين     They do not believe with it, and (the) manner/nature (of) the firsts/beginners had past/expired.         Layu\minoona bihi waqad khalat sunnatu al-awwaleena
 
14.  *     Even if We opened out to them a gate from heaven, and they were to continue (all day) ascending therein,     Even if we opened for them a gate into the sky, through which they climb;     ولو فتحنا عليهم بابا من السماء فظلوا فيه يعرجون     And if We opened on them a door/entrance from the sky/space, so they continued/remained in it ascending/zigzagging.         Walaw fatahnaAAalayhim baban mina alssama-i fathalloo feehi yaAArujoona
 
15.  *     They would only say: "Our eyes have been intoxicated: Nay, we have been bewitched by sorcery."     they will say, "Our eyes have been deceived. We have been bewitched."     لقالوا انما سكرت ابصارنا بل نحن قوم مسحورون     They would have said: "But our eye/sights/understanding got closed and confused, but we are a bewitched/enchanted nation."         Laqaloo innamasukkirat absarunabal nahnu qawmun mashooroona
 
16.  *     It is We Who have set out the zodiacal signs in the heavens, and made them fair-seeming to (all) beholders;     We placed galaxies in the sky, and adorned it for the beholders.     ولقد جعلنا في السماء بروجا وزيناها للناظرين     And We had made/created in the sky/space constellations, and We decorated/beautified it to the lookers/seers.         Walaqad jaAAalnafee alssama-i buroojan wazayyannahalilnnathireena
 
17.  *     And (moreover) We have guarded them from every evil spirit accursed:     And we guarded it against every rejected devil.     وحفظناها من كل شيطان رجيم     And We protected/guarded it from every cursed/expelled devil.         Wahafithnahamin kulli shaytanin rajeemin
 
18.  *     But any that gains a hearing by stealth, is pursued by a flaming fire, bright (to see).     If any of them sneaks around to listen, a mighty projectile will chase him back.     الا من استرق السمع فاتبعه شهاب مبين     Except who eavesdropped the hearing, so a clear/evident light from a fire source/a star followed him.         Illamani istaraqa alssamAAa faatbaAAahu shihabun mubeenun
 
19.  *     And the earth We have spread out (like a carpet); set thereon mountains firm and immovable; and produced therein all kinds of things in due balance.     As for the earth, we constructed it, and placed on it stabilizers (mountains), and we grew on it a perfect balance of everything.     والارض مددناها والقينا فيها رواسي وانبتنا فيها من كل شئ موزون     And the earth/Planet Earth, We extended/spread it, and We threw in it anchors/mountains, and We sprouted/grew in it from every thing weighed/measured/balanced.         Waal-arda madadnahawaalqaynafeeharawasiya waanbatnafeehamin kulli shay-in mawzoonin
 
20.  *     And We have provided therein means of subsistence,- for you and for those for whose sustenance ye are not responsible.     We made it habitable for you, and for creatures you do not provide for.     وجعلنا لكم فيها معايش ومن لستم له برازقين     And We made/created for you in it livelihoods/sustenances, and whom you are not to him with providing for.         WajaAAalnalakum feehamaAAayisha waman lastum lahu biraziqeena
 
21.  *     And there is not a thing but its (sources and) treasures (inexhaustible) are with Us; but We only send down thereof in due and ascertainable measures.     There is nothing that we do not own infinite amounts thereof. But we send it down in precise measure.     وان من شئ الا عندنا خزائنه وماننزله الا بقدر معلوم     And that (there is not) from a thing, except at Us (is) its safes (treasures), and We do not descent it except with (a) known measure/quantity.         Wa-in min shay-in illaAAindanakhaza-inuhu wamanunazziluhu illabiqadarin maAAloomin
 
22.  *     And We send the fecundating winds, then cause the rain to descend from the sky, therewith providing you with water (in abundance), though ye are not the guardians of its stores.     And we send the winds as pollinators, and cause water to come down from the sky for you to drink. Otherwise, you could not keep it palatable.     وارسلنا الرياح لواقح فانزلنا من السماء ماء فاسقيناكموه وماانتم له بخازنين     And We sent the winds/breezes (as) pollinators, so We descended from the sky water, so We gave it to you to drink, and you are not for it with storing.         Waarsalnaalrriyaha lawaqiha faanzalnamina alssama-i maan faasqaynakumoohu wamaantum lahu bikhazineena
 
23.  *     And verily, it is We Who give life, and Who give death: it is We Who remain inheritors (after all else passes away).     It is we who control life and death, and we are the ultimate inheritors.     وانا لنحن نحيي ونميت ونحن الوارثون     And that We, We are (E), We revive/make life and We make die, and We are the heirs/inheritants.         Wa-innalanahnu nuhyee wanumeetu wanahnu alwarithoona
 
24.  *     To Us are known those of you who hasten forward, and those who lag behind.     And we fully know those among you who advance, and we fully know those who regress.     ولقد علمنا المستقدمين منكم ولقد علمنا المستاخرين     And We had known the advanced from you, and We had known the delayed/lagging behind.         Walaqad AAalimnaalmustaqdimeena minkum walaqad AAalimnaalmusta\khireena
 
25.  *     Assuredly it is thy Lord Who will gather them together: for He is perfect in Wisdom and Knowledge.     Your Lord will surely summon them. He is Most Wise, Omniscient.     وان ربك هو يحشرهم انه حكيم عليم     And that your Lord, He gathers them, that He is wise/judicious, knowledgeable.         Wa-inna rabbaka huwa yahshuruhum innahuhakeemun AAaleemun
 
26.  *     We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape;     We created the human being from aged mud, like the potter's clay.     ولقد خلقنا الانسان من صلصال من حمأ مسنون     And We had created the human/mankind from black (foul mud) dry mud/clay smoothened/rotted.         Walaqad khalaqnaal-insana minsalsalin minhama-in masnoonin
 
27.  *     And the Jinn race, We had created before, from the fire of a scorching wind.     As for the jinns, we created them, before that, from blazing fire.     والجان خلقناه من قبل من نار السموم     And the Jinn, We created him from before from (the) fire's burning wind.         Waaljanna khalaqnahu min qablu min nari alssamoomi
 
28.  *     Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud moulded into shape;     Your Lord said to the angels, "I am creating a human being from aged mud, like the potter's clay.     واذ قال ربك للملائكة اني خالق بشرا من صلصال من حمأ مسنون     When/if your Lord said to the angels : "That I am creating (a) human/humans from black (foul mud) dry mud/clay smoothened/rotted."         Wa-ithqala rabbuka lilmala-ikati innee khaliqun basharan minsalsalin minhama-in masnoonin
 
29.  *     "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him."     "Once I perfect him, and blow into him from My spirit, you shall fall prostrate before him."     فاذا سويته ونفخت فيه من روحي فقعوا له ساجدين     So when/if I straightened him, and I blew in him from My Soul/Sprit, so fall/land/come to him prostrating.         Fa-ithasawwaytuhu wanafakhtu feehi min roohee faqaAAoo lahu sajideena
 
30.  *     So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together:     The angels fell prostrate; all of them,     فسجد الملائكة كلهم اجمعون     So the angels all/all together prostrated.         Fasajada almala-ikatu kulluhum ajmaAAoona
 
31.  *     Not so Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves.     except Iblis (Satan). He refused to be with the prostrators.     الا ابليس ابى ان يكون مع الساجدين     Except Satan/Iblis, refused/hated that he be with the prostrating.         Illaibleesa abaan yakoona maAAa alssajideena
 
32.  *     ((Allah)) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?"     He said, "O Iblis (Satan), why are you not with the prostrators?"     قال ياابليس مالك الا تكون مع الساجدين     He said: "You Satan, why (is it) for you (that) you not be with the prostrating?"         Qala yaibleesu malaka allatakoona maAAa alssajideena
 
33.  *     (Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape."     He said, "I am not to prostrate before a human being, whom You created from aged mud, like the potter's clay."     قال لم اكن لاسجد لبشر خلقته من صلصال من حمأ مسنون     He said: "I was not to prostrate to (a) human You created him from black (foul mud) from dry mud/clay smoothened/rotted."         Qala lam akun li-asjuda libasharin khalaqtahu minsalsalin minhama-in masnoonin
 
34.  *     ((Allah)) said: "Then get thee out from here; for thou art rejected, accursed.     He said, "Therefore, you must get out; you are banished.     قال فاخرج منها فانك رجيم     He said: "So get out from it, so that you are cursed/expelled."         Qala faokhruj minhafa-innaka rajeemun
 
35.  *     "And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment."     "You have incurred My condemnation until the Day of Judgment."     وان عليك اللعنة الى يوم الدين     And that on you (is) the curse/torture to the Judgment's Day/Resurrection Day.         Wa-inna AAalayka allaAAnata ilayawmi alddeeni
 
36.  *     (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised."     He said, "My Lord, respite me until the day they are resurrected."     قال رب فانظرني الى يوم يبعثون     He said: "My Lord, so delay me to a day they be sent/resurrected/revived."         Qala rabbi faanthirnee ilayawmi yubAAathoona
 
37.  *     ((Allah)) said: "Respite is granted thee     He said, "You are respited.     قال فانك من المنظرين     He said: "So that (then) you are from the delayed."         Qala fa-innaka mina almunthareena
 
38.  *     "Till the Day of the Time appointed."     "Until the specified day and time."     الى يوم الوقت المعلوم     To (the) day of the time, the known.         Ilayawmi alwaqti almaAAloomi
 
39.  *     (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair-seeming to them on the earth, and I will put them all in the wrong,-     He said, "My Lord, since You have willed that I go astray, I will surely entice them on earth; I will send them all astray.     قال رب بما اغويتني لازينن لهم في الارض ولاغوينهم اجمعين     He said: "My Lord with what You misguided/enticed me, I will decorate/beautify for them in the earth/Planet Earth, and I will misguide/entice them (E) all/all together."         Qala rabbi bimaaghwaytanee laozayyinanna lahum fee al-ardi walaoghwiyannahum ajmaAAeena
 
40.  *     "Except Thy servants among them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)."     "Except those among Your worshipers who are devoted absolutely to You alone."     الا عبادك منهم المخلصين     Except Your worshippers/slaves from them, the faithful/loyal/devoted.         IllaAAibadaka minhumu almukhlaseena
 
41.  *     ((Allah)) said: "This (way of My sincere servants) is indeed a way that leads straight to Me.     He said, "This is a law that is inviolable.     قال هذا صراط علي مستقيم     He said: "That (is) a straight/direct road/way on Me."         Qala hathasiratun AAalayya mustaqeemun
 
42.  *     "For over My servants no authority shalt thou have, except such as put themselves in the wrong and follow thee."     "You have no power over My servants. You only have power over the strayers who follow you.     ان عبادي ليس لك عليهم سلطان الا من اتبعك من الغاوين     That My worshippers/slaves, power/control is not for you on them (you have no power/control over My worshippers/slaves) except who followed you from the misguided/failed.         Inna AAibadee laysa laka AAalayhim sultanun illamani ittabaAAaka mina alghaweena
 
43.  *     And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all!     "And Hell awaits them all.     وان جهنم لموعدهم اجمعين     And that Hell (is) their appointment (E) all/all together.         Wa-inna jahannama lamawAAiduhum ajmaAAeena
 
44.  *     To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned.     "It will have seven gates. Each gate will get a specific share of them."     لها سبعة ابواب لكل باب منهم جزء مقسوم     For it (are) seven doors/entrances, to each door/entrance from them (is an) apportioned/divided part/portion.         LahasabAAatu abwabin likulli babin minhum juz-on maqsoomun
 
45.  *     The righteous (will be) amid gardens and fountains (of clear-flowing water).     As for the righteous, they will enjoy gardens and springs.     ان المتقين في جنات وعيون     That the fearing and obeying (are) in treed gardens/paradises and water springs/wells.         Inna almuttaqeena fee jannatin waAAuyoonin
 
46.  *     (Their greeting will be): "Enter ye here in peace and security."     Enter therein, peaceful and secure.     ادخلوها بسلام امنين     Enter it with safety/security/peace, safe/secure.         Odkhuloohabisalaminamineena
 
47.  *     And We shall remove from their hearts any lurking sense of injury: (they will be) brothers (joyfully) facing each other on thrones (of dignity).     We remove all jealousy from their hearts. Like one family, they will be on adjacent furnishings.     ونزعنا مافي صدورهم من غل اخوانا على سرر متقابلين     And We removed/pulled away what (is) in their chests (innermosts) from hatred/animosity, brothers on beds/sofas facing each other.         WanazaAAnamafeesudoorihim min ghillin ikhwanan AAalasururin mutaqabileena
 
48.  *     There no sense of fatigue shall touch them, nor shall they (ever) be asked to leave.     Never will they suffer any fatigue therein; never will they be evicted therefrom.     لايمسهم فيها نصب وماهم منها بمخرجين     Hardship/fatigue does not touch them in it, and they are not with being brought out from it.         Layamassuhum feehanasabun wamahum minhabimukhrajeena
 
49.  *     Tell My servants that I am indeed the Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful;     Inform My servants that I am the Forgiver, Most Merciful.     نبئ عبادي اني انا الغفور الرحيم     Inform My worshippers/slaves, that I, I am the forgiving, the merciful.         Nabbi\ AAibadee annee anaalghafooru alrraheemu
 
50.  *     And that My Penalty will be indeed the most grievous Penalty.     And that My retribution is the most painful retribution.     وان عذابي هو العذاب الاليم     And that My torture, it is the torture, the painful.         Waanna AAathabee huwa alAAathabu al-aleemu
 
51.  *     Tell them about the guests of Abraham.     Inform them about Abraham's guests.     ونبئهم عن ضيف ابراهيم     And inform them about Abraham's guests.         Wanabbi\hum AAandayfi ibraheema
 
52.  *     When they entered his presence and said, "Peace!" He said, "We feel afraid of you!"     When they entered his quarters, they said, "Peace." He said, "We are apprehensive about you."     اذ دخلوا عليه فقالوا سلاما قال انامنكم وجلون     When/if they entered on (to) him, so they said: "Greeting/peace." He said: "That we are afraid/apprehensive from you."         Ithdakhaloo AAalayhi faqaloo salaman qala innaminkum wajiloona
 
53.  *     They said: "Fear not! We give thee glad tidings of a son endowed with wisdom."     They said, "Do not be apprehensive. We have good news for you: an enlightened son."     قالوا لاتوجل انا نبشرك بغلام عليم     They said: "Do not be afraid/apprehensive, that we, we announce good news to you with (of) a knowledgeable boy (new son)."         Qaloo latawjal innanubashshiruka bighulamin AAaleemin
 
54.  *     He said: "Do ye give me glad tidings that old age has seized me? Of what, then, is your good news?"     He said, "How can you give me such good news, when I am so old? Do you still give me this good news?"     قال ابشرتموني على ان مسني الكبر فبم تبشرون     He said: "Did you announce good news to me on that the old age touched me so with what (do) you announce177good news to me?"         Qala abashshartumoonee AAalaan massaniya alkibaru fabima tubashshirooni
 
55.  *     They said: "We give thee glad tidings in truth: be not then in despair!"     They said, "The good news we give you is true; do not despair."     قالوا بشرناك بالحق فلا تكن من القانطين     They said: "We announced to you with the good news, so do not be from the despaired/despairing."         Qaloo bashsharnaka bialhaqqi falatakun mina alqaniteena
 
56.  *     He said: "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord, but such as go astray?"     He said, "None despairs of his Lord's mercy, except the strayers."     قال ومن يقنط من رحمة ربه الا الضالون     He said: "And who despairs from his Lord's mercy, except the misguided?"         Qala waman yaqnatu min rahmati rabbihi illaalddalloona
 
57.  *     Abraham said: "What then is the business on which ye (have come), O ye messengers (of Allah.?"     He said, "What is your mission, O messengers?"     قال فما خطبكم ايها المرسلون     He said: "So what (is) your matter/affair/concern, you, the messengers?"         Qala famakhatbukum ayyuhaalmursaloona
 
58.  *     They said: "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin,     They said, "We are being dispatched to guilty people.     قالوا انا ارسلنا الى قوم مجرمين     They said: "We are sent to a nation (of) criminals/sinners."         Qaloo innaorsilnailaqawmin mujrimeena
 
59.  *     "Excepting the adherents of Lut: them we are certainly (charged) to save (from harm),- All -     "As for Lot's family, we will save them all.     الا ال لوط انا لمنجوهم اجمعين     Except Lot's family, We are saving/rescuing them (E) all together.         Illaala lootin innalamunajjoohum ajmaAAeena
 
60.  *     "Except his wife, who, We have ascertained, will be among those who will lag behind."     "But not his wife; she is destined to be with the doomed."     الا امراته قدرنا انها لمن الغابرين     Except his woman (wife). We predestined/evaluated that she truly is from (E) the remaining behind.         Illaimraatahu qaddarnainnahalamina alghabireena
 
61.  *     At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut,     The messengers went to Lot's town.     فلما جاء ال لوط المرسلون     So when the messengers came (to) Lot's family.         Falammajaaala lootin almursaloona
 
62.  *     He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk."     He said, "You are unknown people."     قال انكم قوم منكرون     He said: "That you are a disguised/unknown nation."         Qala innakum qawmun munkaroona
 
63.  *     They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt.     They said, "We bring to you what they have been doubting.     قالوا بل جئناك بماكانوا فيه يمترون     They said: "But we came to you, with what they were in it doubting/arguing."         Qaloo bal ji\naka bimakanoo feehi yamtaroona
 
64.  *     "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth.     "We bring to you the truth; we are truthful.     واتيناك بالحق وانا لصادقون     And we came/brought (to) you with the truth, and that we are truthful (E).         Waataynaka bialhaqqi wa-innalasadiqoona
 
65.  *     "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered."     "You shall take your family during the night. Stay behind them, and make sure that none of you looks back. Go straight as commanded."     فاسر باهلك بقطع من الليل واتبع ادبارهم ولايلتفت منكم احد وامضوا حيث تؤمرون     So move/travel/depart at night with your family/people with portions from the night and follow their backs/ends; and no one from you (should) turn around, and proceed/complete where/when you are being ordered/commanded.         Faasri bi-ahlika biqitAAin mina allayli waittabiAA adbarahum walayaltafit minkum ahadun waimdoohaythu tu\maroona
 
66.  *     And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning.     We delivered to him this command: those people are to be annihilated in the morning.     وقضينا اليه ذلك الامر ان دابر هؤلاء مقطوع مصبحين     And We ordered/passed judgment to him (of) that the matter/affair/order/command, that those (people's) root/remainder (is) cut off/severed by the morning/daybreak.         Waqadaynailayhithalika al-amra anna dabira haola-i maqtooAAun musbiheena
 
67.  *     The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men).     The people of the city came joyfully.     وجاء اهل المدينة يستبشرون     And the city's/town's people came cheerful/rejoicing."         Wajaa ahlu almadeenati yastabshiroona
 
68.  *     Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not:     He said, "These are my guests; do not embarrass me.     قال ان هؤلاء ضيفي فلا تفضحون     He said: "That those (are) my guests, so do not expose my faults (scandalize me)."         Qala inna haola-idayfee falatafdahooni
 
69.  *     "But fear Allah, and shame me not."     "Fear GOD, and do not shame me."     واتقوا الله ولاتخزون     And fear and obey God and do not shame/disgrace me.         Waittaqoo Allaha walatukhzooni
 
70.  *     They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?"     They said, "Did we not enjoin you from contacting anyone?"     قالوا اولم ننهك عن العالمين     They said: "And did we not forbid/prevent you from the creations all together/(universes)?"         Qaloo awa lam nanhaka AAani alAAalameena
 
71.  *     He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)."     He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must."     قال هؤلاء بناتي ان كنتم فاعلين     He said: "Those (are) my daughters, if you were making/doing."         Qala haola-i banatee in kuntum faAAileena
 
72.  *     Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro.     But, alas, they were totally blinded by their lust.     لعمرك انهم لفي سكرتهم يعمهون     To your life/age (an oath) that they truly are in (E) their intoxication/loss of judgment being confused/puzzled.         LaAAamruka innahum lafee sakratihim yaAAmahoona
 
73.  *     But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning,     Consequently, the disaster struck them in the morning.     فاخذتهم الصيحة مشرقين     So the loud strong cry/torture raid took/punished them at sunrise.         Faakhathat-humu alssayhatu mushriqeena
 
74.  *     And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay.     We turned it upside down, and showered them with devastating rocks.     فجعلنا عاليها سافلها وامطرنا عليهم حجارة من سجيل     So We made its highest/elevated, its lowest/bottom, and We rained on them stones of dry and hardened mud.         FajaAAalnaAAaliyahasafilahawaamtarnaAAalayhimhijaratan min sijjeelin
 
75.  *     Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand.     This is a lesson for those who possess intelligence.     ان في ذلك لايات للمتوسمين     That in that (are) evidences/signs (E), to the observing/scrutinizing.         Inna feethalika laayatin lilmutawassimeena
 
76.  *     And the (cities were) right on the high-road.     This will always be the system.     وانها لسبيل مقيم     And that it truly is with a continuing/keeping up path/means (E).         Wa-innahalabisabeelin muqeemin
 
77.  *     Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed.     This is a sign for the believers.     ان في ذلك لاية للمؤمنين     That in that (is) a sign/evidence (E) to the believers.         Inna feethalika laayatan lilmu\mineena
 
78.  *     And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers;     The people of the woods also were transgressors.     وان كان اصحاب الايكة لظالمين     And if owners/company (of) the thicket/dense tangled trees were unjust/oppressive (E).         Wa-in kana as-habu al-aykati lathalimeena
 
79.  *     So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see.     Consequently, we avenged from them, and both communities are fully documented.     فانتقمنا منهم وانهما لبامام مبين     So We revenged from them that they (B) truly (the two nations) are with a clear/evident leader/example (E).         Faintaqamnaminhum wa-innahumalabi-imamin mubeenin
 
80.  *     The Companions of the Rocky Tract also rejected the apostles:     The people of Al-Hijr disbelieved the messengers.     ولقد كذب اصحاب الحجر المرسلين     And the forbidden's/mind's owners/company denied the messengers.         Walaqad kaththaba as-habu alhijri almursaleena
 
81.  *     We sent them Our Sings, but they persisted in turning away from them.     We gave them our revelations, but they disregarded them.     واتيناهم اياتنا فكانوا عنها معرضين     And We gave/brought them Our verses/evidences, so they were objecting/opposing/turning away from it.         Waataynahumayatinafakanoo AAanhamuAArideena
 
82.  *     Out of the mountains did they hew (their) edifices, (feeling themselves) secure.     They used to carve secure homes out of the mountains.     وكانوا ينحتون من الجبال بيوتا امنين     And they were carving out/cutting from the mountains houses/homes safely/securely.         Wakanoo yanhitoona mina aljibali buyootanamineena
 
83.  *     But the (mighty) Blast seized them of a morning,     The disaster hit them in the morning.     فاخذتهم الصيحة مصبحين     So the loud strong cry/torture raid took/punished them in the morning/daybreak. 178         Faakhathat-humu alssayhatu musbiheena
 
84.  *     And of no avail to them was all that they did (with such art and care)!     What they hoarded did not help them.     فما اغنى عنهم ما كانوا يكسبون     So what they were gaining/acquiring did not enrich/suffice them from them (was of no benefit to them).         FamaaghnaAAanhum makanoo yaksiboona
 
85.  *     We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, but for just ends. And the Hour is surely coming (when this will be manifest). So overlook (any human faults) with gracious forgiveness.     We did not create the heavens and the earth, and everything between them, except for a specific purpose. The end of the world will come, so treat them with benign neglect.     وماخلقنا السماوات والارض ومابينهما الا بالحق وان الساعة لاتية فاصفح الصفح الجميل     And We did not create the skies/space and the earth/Planet Earth and what (is) between them (B) except with the truth, and that truly the Hour/Resurrection is coming (E) so forgive/pardon the forgiveness/pardon, the beautiful/graceful.         Wamakhalaqnaalssamawati waal-arda wamabaynahumaillabialhaqqi wa-inna alssaAAata laatiyatun faisfahi alssafha aljameela
 
86.  *     For verily it is thy Lord who is the Master-Creator, knowing all things.     Your Lord is the Creator, the Omniscient.     ان ربك هو الخلاق العليم     That truly your Lord (is) the creator (E), the knowledgeable.         Inna rabbaka huwa alkhallaqu alAAaleemu
 
87.  *     And We have bestowed upon thee the Seven Oft-repeated (verses) and the Grand Qur'an.     We have given you the seven pairs, and the great Quran.     ولقد اتيناك سبعا من المثاني والقران العظيم     And We had given/brought you seven from the doubles/strength/capacity and the Koran, the great.         Walaqadataynaka sabAAan mina almathanee waalqur-ana alAAatheema
 
88.  *     Strain not thine eyes. (Wistfully) at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them, nor grieve over them: but lower thy wing (in gentleness) to the believers.     Do not be jealous of what we bestowed upon the other (messengers), and do not be saddened (by the disbelievers), and lower your wing for the believers.     لاتمدن عينيك الى مامتعنا به ازواجا منهم ولاتحزن عليهم واخفض جناحك للمؤمنين     Do not extend/spread your two eyes to what We made spouses/couples from them enjoy with it, and do not be sad/grievous on (for) them, and be lenient/comforting/lower your wing/side (kindness) to the believers.         Latamuddanna AAaynayka ilamamattaAAnabihi azwajan minhum walatahzan AAalayhim waikhfidjanahaka lilmu\mineena
 
89.  *     And say: "I am indeed he that warneth openly and without ambiguity,"-     And proclaim: "I am the manifest warner."     وقل اني انا النذير المبين     And say: "That I, I am the warner/giver of notice, the clear/evident."         Waqul innee anaalnnatheeru almubeenu
 
90.  *     (Of just such wrath) as We sent down on those who divided (Scripture into arbitrary parts),-     We will deal with the dividers.     كما انزلنا على المقتسمين     As We descended on the apportioners/dividers/distributors.         KamaanzalnaAAalaalmuqtasimeena
 
91.  *     (So also on such) as have made Qur'an into shreds (as they please).     They accept the Quran only partially.     الذين جعلوا القران عضين     Those who made the Koran bits/divisions/enchantments.         Allatheena jaAAaloo alqur-ana AAideena
 
92.  *     Therefore, by the Lord, We will, of a surety, call them to account,     By your Lord, we will question them all,     فوربك لنسألنهم اجمعين     So by/with your Lord, We will ask/question them (E) all together.         Fawarabbika lanas-alannahum ajmaAAeena
 
93.  *     For all their deeds.     about everything they have done.     عما كانوا يعملون     About what they were making/doing.         AAammakanoo yaAAmaloona
 
94.  *     Therefore expound openly what thou art commanded, and turn away from those who join false gods with Allah.     Therefore, carry out the orders given to you, and disregard the idol worshipers.     فاصدع بماتؤمر واعرض عن المشركين     So uncover/declare openly with what you are being ordered/commanded, and turn away from the sharers/takers of partners (with God).         FaisdaAA bimatu\maru waaAAridAAani almushrikeena
 
95.  *     For sufficient are We unto thee against those who scoff,-     We will spare you the mockers,     انا كفيناك المستهزئين     That We truly make you sufficient (protect you) against the mocking/making fun.         Innakafaynaka almustahzi-eena
 
96.  *     Those who adopt, with Allah, another god: but soon will they come to know.     who set up another god beside GOD. They will surely find out.     الذين يجعلون مع الله الها اخر فسوف يعلمون     Those who create/put with God another god, so they will/shall know.         Allatheena yajAAaloona maAAa Allahi ilahanakhara fasawfa yaAAlamoona
 
97.  *     We do indeed know how thy heart is distressed at what they say.     We know full well that you may be annoyed by their utterances.     ولقد نعلم انك يضيق صدرك بما يقولون     And We had know (known) that you, your chest (innermost) narrows/tightens becuase (of) what they say.         Walaqad naAAlamu annaka yadeequsadruka bimayaqooloona
 
98.  *     But celebrate the praises of thy Lord, and be of those who prostrate themselves in adoration.     You shall sing the praises of your Lord, and be with the prostrators.     فسبح بحمد ربك وكن من الساجدين     So praise/glorify with your Lord's praise/gratitude/thanks, and be from the prostrating.         Fasabbihbihamdi rabbika wakun mina alssajideena
 
99.  *     And serve thy Lord until there come unto thee the Hour that is Certain.     And worship your Lord, in order to attain certainty.     واعبد ربك حتى ياتيك اليقين     And worship your Lord, until the assurance/certainty (death) comes to you. 179         WaoAAbud rabbakahattaya\tiyaka alyaqeenu
