1.  *     Ha-Mim.     H. M.     سورة الدخان  بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ٛــــ حم     H M.         Ha-meem
 
2.  *     By the Book that makes things clear;-     And this enlightening scripture.     والكتاب المبين     And The Book, the clear/evident.         Waalkitabi almubeeni
 
3.  *     We sent it down during a Blessed Night: for We (ever) wish to warn (against Evil).     We have sent it down in a blessed night, for we are to warn.     انا انزلناه في ليلة مباركة انا كنا منذرين     That We, We descended it in a blessed night, that We, We were warners/givers of notice.         Innaanzalnahu fee laylatin mubarakatin innakunnamunthireena
 
4.  *     In the (Night) is made distinct every affair of wisdom,     In it (the scripture), every matter of wisdom is clarified.     فيها يفرق كل امر حكيم     In it every/each wise/judicious matter/affair is separated.         Feehayufraqu kullu amrinhakeemin
 
5.  *     By command, from Our Presence. For We (ever) send (revelations),     It is a predetermined command from us that we send messengers.     امرا من عندنا انا كنا مرسلين     A matter/affair/order/command from at Us, that We were senders/sending.         Amran min AAindinainnakunnamursileena
 
6.  *     As Mercy from thy Lord: for He hears and knows (all things);     This is a mercy from your Lord. He is the Hearer, the Omniscient.     رحمة من ربك انه هو السميع العليم     Mercy from your Lord that He truly is the hearing/listening, the knowledgeable.         Rahmatan min rabbika innahu huwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu
 
7.  *     The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them, if ye (but) have an assured faith.     Lord of the heavens and the earth, and everything between them. If only you could be certain!     رب السماوات والارض ومابينهما ان كنتم موقنين     The skies'/space's and the earth's/Planet Earth's Lord and what (is) between them (B), if you were sure/certain.         Rabbi alssamawati waal-ardi wamabaynahumain kuntum mooqineena
 
8.  *     There is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and gives death,- The Lord and Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors.     There is no other god beside Him. He controls life and death; your Lord and the Lord of your ancestors.     لااله الا هو يحيي ويميت ربكم ورب ابائكم الاولين     (There is) no God except Him, He revives/makes alive, and He makes die, your Lord and your fathers'/forefathers', the first's/beginners' Lord.         Lailaha illahuwa yuhyee wayumeetu rabbukum warabbuaba-ikumu al-awwaleena
 
9.  *     Yet they play about in doubt.     Indeed, they are doubtful, heedless.     بل هم في شك يلعبون     But they are in doubt/suspicion playing/amusing.         Bal hum fee shakkin yalAAaboona
 
10.  *     Then watch thou for the Day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke (or mist) plainly visible,     Therefore, watch for the day when the sky brings a profound smoke.     فارتقب يوم تاتي السماء بدخان مبين     So observe/lie in wait, a day/time the sky/space comes with clear/evident smoke/fumes.         Fairtaqib yawma ta\tee alssamao bidukhanin mubeenin
 
11.  *     Enveloping the people: this will be a Penalty Grievous.     It will envelope the people; this is a painful retribution.     يغشى الناس هذا عذاب اليم     It covers/afflicts the people, that is a painful torture.         Yaghshaalnnasa hathaAAathabun aleemun
 
12.  *     (They will say:) "Our Lord! remove the Penalty from us, for we do really believe!"     "Our Lord, relieve this retribution for us; we are believers."     ربنا اكشف عنا العذاب انا مؤمنون     (They say): "Our Lord remove/uncover (relieve) from us the torture, that we are believing."         Rabbanaikshif AAannaalAAathaba innamu\minoona
 
13.  *     How shall the message be (effectual) for them, seeing that an Messenger explaining things clearly has (already) come to them,-     Now that it is too late, they remember! An enlightening messenger had come to them.     انى لهم الذكرى وقد جاءهم رسول مبين     From where/how the remembrance/reminder be for them, and a clear/evident messenger had come to them?         Annalahumu alththikrawaqad jaahum rasoolun mubeenun
 
14.  *     Yet they turn away from him and say: "Tutored (by others), a man possessed!"     But they turned away from him, saying, "Well educated, but crazy!"     ثم تولوا عنه وقالوا معلم مجنون     Then they turned away from Him and they said: "Taught/instructed/informed, mad/insane."         Thumma tawallaw AAanhu waqaloo muAAallamun majnoonun
 
15.  *     We shall indeed remove the Penalty for a while, (but) truly ye will revert (to your ways).     We will relieve the retribution for awhile; you will soon revert.     انا كاشفوا العذاب قليلا انكم عائدون     That We (are) removing/uncovering (relieving) the torture little, that you truly are returning.         Innakashifoo alAAathabi qaleelan innakum AAa-idoona
 
16.  *     One day We shall seize you with a mighty onslaught: We will indeed (then) exact Retribution!     The day we strike the big stroke, we will avenge.     يوم نبطش البطشة الكبرى انا منتقمون     A day/time We violently destroy the violent attack, the greatest/biggest, that We truly are revenging/punishing.         Yawma nabtishu albatshata alkubrainnamuntaqimoona
 
17.  *     We did, before them, try the people of Pharaoh: there came to them an apostle most honourable,     We have tested before them the people of Pharaoh; an honorable messenger went to them.     ولقد فتنا قبلهم قوم فرعون وجاءهم رسول كريم     And We had tested/allured Pharaoh's nation before them, and an honoured/generous messenger came to them.         Walaqad fatannaqablahum qawma firAAawna wajaahum rasoolun kareemun
 
18.  *     Saying: "Restore to me the Servants of Allah. I am to you an apostle worthy of all trust;     Proclaiming: "Listen to me, servants of GOD. I am an honest messenger to you."     ان ادوا الى عباد الله اني لكم رسول امين     That (E) discharge/fulfill (give/pay) to me God's worshippers/slaves, that I am for you a faithful/loyal messenger.         An addoo ilayya AAibada Allahi innee lakum rasoolun ameenun
 
19.  *     "And be not arrogant as against Allah. for I come to you with authority manifest.     And, "Do not transgress against GOD. I bring to you powerful proofs.     وان لاتعلوا على الله اني اتيكم بسلطان مبين     And that (E) do not become high, mighty and dignified on God, that I am coming to you with a clear/evident proof/evidence.         Waan lataAAloo AAalaAllahi inneeateekum bisultanin mubeenin
 
20.  *     "For me, I have sought safety with my Lord and your Lord, against your injuring me.     "I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord, if you oppose me.     واني عذت بربي وربكم ان ترجمون     And that I, I seeked protection with my Lord and your Lord, that (E) you stone me.         Wa-innee AAuthtu birabbee warabbikum an tarjumooni
 
21.  *     "If ye believe me not, at least keep yourselves away from me."     "If you do not wish to believe, then simply leave me alone."     وان لم تؤمنوا لي فاعتزلون     And if you do not believe to me, so separate/isolate yourselves from me.         Wa-in lam tu\minoo lee faiAAtazilooni
 
22.  *     (But they were aggressive:) then he cried to his Lord: "These are indeed a people given to sin."     Subsequently, he implored his Lord: "These are wicked people."     فدعا ربه ان هؤلاء قوم مجرمون     So he called his Lord: "That (E) those (are) a nation (of) criminals/sinners."         FadaAAarabbahu anna haola-i qawmun mujrimoona
 
23.  *     (The reply came:) "March forth with My Servants by night: for ye are sure to be pursued.     (God said,) "Travel with My servants during the night; you will be pursued.     فاسر بعبادي ليلا انكم متبعون     So you go/move with My worshippers/slaves at night, that you are being followed.         Faasri biAAibadee laylan innakum muttabaAAoona
 
24.  *     "And leave the sea as a furrow (divided): for they are a host (destined) to be drowned."     "Cross the sea quickly; their troops will be drowned."     واترك البحر رهوا انهم جند مغرقون     And leave the sea/ocean strolling/walking slowly, that they truly are drowning/sinking soldiers/warriors.         Waotruki albahra rahwan innahum jundun mughraqoona
 
25.  *     How many were the gardens and springs they left behind,     Thus, they left behind many gardens and springs.     كم تركوا من جنات وعيون     How many/much they left (behind) from treed gardens and water springs/wells?         Kam tarakoo min jannatin waAAuyoonin
 
26.  *     And corn-fields and noble buildings,     Crops and a luxurious life.     وزروع ومقام كريم     And plants/crops and an honoured/generous position/status ?         WazurooAAin wamaqamin kareemin
 
27.  *     And wealth (and conveniences of life), wherein they had taken such delight!     Blessings that they enjoyed.     ونعمة كانوا فيها فاكهين     And blessing/goodness they were in it joyful (eating fruit) ?         WanaAAmatin kanoo feehafakiheena
 
28.  *     Thus (was their end)! And We made other people inherit (those things)!     All these we caused to be inherited by other people.     كذلك واورثناها قوما اخرين     Like that, and We made it be inherited (by) a nation (of) others.         Kathalika waawrathnahaqawmanakhareena
 
29.  *     And neither heaven nor earth shed a tear over them: nor were they given a respite (again).     Neither the heaven, nor the earth wept over them, and they were not respited.     فما بكت عليهم السماء والارض وماكانوا منظرين     So the sky/space and the earth/Planet Earth did not weep (sadden) on them, and they were not given time/delayed.         Famabakat AAalayhimu alssamao waal-ardu wamakanoo munthareena
 
30.  *     We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment,     Meanwhile, we saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating persecution.     ولقد نجينا بني اسرائيل من العذاب المهين     And We had saved/rescued Israel's sons and daughters from the torture the humiliating/disgracing.         Walaqad najjaynabanee isra-eela mina alAAathabi almuheeni
 
31.  *     Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors.     From Pharaoh; he was a tyrant.     من فرعون انه كان عاليا من المسرفين     From Pharaoh, that he truly was high and mighty from the wasters/extravagators.         Min firAAawna innahu kana AAaliyan mina almusrifeena
 
32.  *     And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly,     We have chosen them from among all the people, knowingly.     ولقد اخترناهم على علم على العالمين     And We had chosen them on knowledge over the creations all together/(universes).         Walaqadi ikhtarnahum AAalaAAilmin AAalaalAAalameena
 
33.  *     And granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial     We showed them so many proofs, which constituted a great test.     واتيناهم من الايات مافيه بلاء مبين     And We gave/brought them from the verses/evidences what is in it a clear/evident test.         Waataynahum mina al-ayati mafeehi balaon mubeenun
 
34.  *     As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth:     The present generations say,     ان هؤلاء ليقولون     That truly those say (E):         Inna haola-i layaqooloona
 
35.  *     "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again.     "We only die the first death; we will never be resurrected!     ان هي الا موتتنا الاولى ومانحن بمنشرين     That truly it is except our death/lifelessness the first/beginning, and we are not with being revived/resurrected.         In hiya illamawtatunaal-oolawamanahnu bimunshareena
 
36.  *     "Then bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!"     "Bring back our forefathers, if you are truthful."     فاتوا بابائنا ان كنتم صادقين     So come with our fathers/forefathers if you were truthful.         Fa\too bi-aba-inain kuntumsadiqeena
 
37.  *     What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin.     Are they better than the people of Tubba` and others before them? We annihilated them for their crimes.     اهم خير ام قوم تبع والذين من قبلهم اهلكناهم انهم كانوا مجرمين     Are they better or a nation of Tuba (could be from Yemen)/shade and those from before them? We made them die/destroyed them, that they truly were criminals/sinners.         Ahum khayrun am qawmu tubbaAAin waallatheena min qablihim ahlaknahum innahum kanoo mujrimeena
 
38.  *     We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport:     We did not create the heavens and the earth, and everything between them, just to play.     وماخلقنا السماوات والارض ومابينهما لاعبين     And We did not create the skies/space and the earth/Planet Earth and what (is) between them (B) playing/amusing.         Wamakhalaqnaalssamawati waal-arda wamabaynahumalaAAibeena
 
39.  *     We created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand.     We created them for a specific purpose, but most of them do not know.     ماخلقناهما الا بالحق ولكن اكثرهم لايعلمون     We did not create them (B) except with the truth, and but most of them do not know.         Makhalaqnahumaillabialhaqqi walakinna aktharahum layaAAlamoona
 
40.  *     Verily the Day of sorting out is the time appointed for all of them,-     The Day of Decision awaits them all.     ان يوم الفصل ميقاتهم اجمعين     That truly the Judgment Day/Resurrection Day (is) their appointed time all/all together.         Inna yawma alfasli meeqatuhum ajmaAAeena
 
41.  *     The Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they receive,     That is the day when no friend can help his friend in any way; no one can be helped.     يوم لايغني مولى عن مولى شيئا ولاهم ينصرون     A day/time (a) master/ally does not enrich/suffice (replace) from (a) master/ally a thing, and nor they be given victory/aid.         Yawma layughnee mawlan AAan mawlan shay-an walahum yunsaroona
 
42.  *     Except such as receive Allah.s Mercy: for He is Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.     Only those who attain mercy from GOD. He is the Almighty, Most Merciful.     الا من رحم الله انه هو العزيز الرحيم     Except whom God had mercy upon (him), that He truly, He is the glorious/mighty, the merciful.         Illaman rahima Allahu innahu huwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu
 
43.  *     Verily the tree of Zaqqum     Surely, the tree of bitterness -     ان شجرة الزقوم     That truly the deadly food's tree.         Inna shajarata alzzaqqoomi
 
44.  *     Will be the food of the Sinful,-     will provide the food for the sinful.     طعام الاثيم     (Is) the sinner's/criminal's food/feeding.         TaAAamu al-atheemi
 
45.  *     Like molten brass; it will boil in their insides.     Like lye, it will boil in the stomachs.     كالمهل يغلي في البطون     As/like the dead's pus/melted metals, (it) boils in the bellies/insides.         Kaalmuhli yaghlee fee albutooni
 
46.  *     Like the boiling of scalding water.     Like the boiling of hellish drinks.     كغلي الحميم     As the hot water's/red hot coal's boiling.         Kaghalyi alhameemi
 
47.  *     (A voice will cry: "Seize ye him and drag him into the midst of the Blazing Fire!     Take him and throw him into the center of Hell.     خذوه فاعتلوه الى سواء الجحيم     Take/punish him so pull or drag him violently to the Hell's middle.         Khuthoohu faiAAtiloohu ilasawa-i aljaheemi
 
48.  *     "Then pour over his head the Penalty of Boiling Water,     Then pour upon his head the retribution of the Inferno.     ثم صبوا فوق راسه من عذاب الحميم     Then pour from above his head the hot water's/red hot coal's torture.         Thummasubboo fawqa ra\sihi min AAathabi alhameemi
 
49.  *     "Taste thou (this)! Truly wast thou mighty, full of honour!     "Taste this; you were so powerful, so honorable."     ذق انك انت العزيز الكريم     Taste/experience, that you are, you are the glorious/mighty, the honored/generous.         Thuq innaka anta alAAazeezu alkareemu
 
50.  *     "Truly this is what ye used to doubt!"     This is what you used to doubt.     ان هذا ماكنتم به تمترون     That truly that (is) what you were with it doubting/arguing.         Inna hathamakuntum bihi tamtaroona
 
51.  *     As to the Righteous (they will be) in a position of Security,     The righteous will be in a secure position.     ان المتقين في مقام امين     That truly the fearing and obeying (are) in a secure/safe position/status.         Inna almuttaqeena fee maqamin ameenin
 
52.  *     Among Gardens and Springs;     Enjoying gardens and springs.     في جنات وعيون     In treed gardens/paradises and water springs/wells.         Fee jannatin waAAuyoonin
 
53.  *     Dressed in fine silk and in rich brocade, they will face each other;     Wearing velvet and satin; close to each other.     يلبسون من سندس واستبرق متقابلين     They dress from sarcenet (a certain type of silk or brocade), and brocade (silk and gold fabric), facing each other.         Yalbasoona min sundusin wa-istabraqin mutaqabileena
 
54.  *     So; and We shall join them to Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes.     We grant them wonderful spouses.     كذلك وزوجناهم بحور عين     As/like that, and We got them married with (spouses of) eyes with intense blackness of pupils and whiteness (beautifully contrasted).         Kathalika wazawwajnahum bihoorin AAeenin
 
55.  *     There can they call for every kind of fruit in peace and security;     They enjoy in it all kinds of fruits, in perfect peace.     يدعون فيها بكل فاكهة امنين     They call in it with all fruits safe/secure.         YadAAoona feehabikulli fakihatinamineena
 
56.  *     Nor will they there taste Death, except the first death; and He will preserve them from the Penalty of the Blazing Fire,-     They do not taste death therein - beyond the first death - and He has spared them the retribution of Hell.     لايذقون فيها الموت الا الموتة الاولى ووقاهم عذاب الجحيم     They do not taste/experience in it the death/lifelessness except the first death, and He protected them (from) the Hell's torture.         Layathooqoona feehaalmawta illaalmawtata al-oolawawaqahum AAathaba aljaheemi
 
57.  *     As a Bounty from thy Lord! that will be the supreme achievement!     Such is the blessing from your Lord. Such is the great triumph.     فضلا من ربك ذلك هو الفوز العظيم     Grace/favour from you Lord, that (is) the success/triumph, the great.364         Fadlan min rabbikathalika huwa alfawzu alAAatheemu
 
58.  *     Verily, We have made this (Qur'an) easy, in thy tongue, in order that they may give heed.     We have thus clarified it in your language, that they may take heed.     فانما يسرناه بلسانك لعلهم يتذكرون     So We eased it/We made it flexible with your tongue/language, maybe/perhaps they mention/remember.         Fa-innamayassarnahu bilisanika laAAallahum yatathakkaroona
 
59.  *     So wait thou and watch; for they (too) are waiting.     Therefore, wait; they too will have to wait.     فارتقب انهم مرتقبون     So observe/lie in wait, that they truly are observing/being made to observe 365         Fairtaqib innahum murtaqiboona
