1.  *     I do call to witness this City;-     I solemnly swear by this town.     سورة البلد  بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ٛــــ لااقسم بهذا البلد     I do not swear/make oath with that, the country/land.         Laoqsimu bihathaalbaladi
 
2.  *     And thou art a freeman of this City;-     The town where you live.     وانت حل بهذا البلد     And you are placed in/occupying (residing) at this, the country/land.         Waantahillun bihathaalbaladi
 
3.  *     And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;-     The begetting and the begotten.     ووالد وماولد     And a father and what he gave birth (to)/procreated.         Wawalidin wamawalada
 
4.  *     Verily We have created man into toil and struggle.     We created the human being to work hard (to redeem himself).     لقد خلقنا الانسان في كبد     We had created the human/mankind in hardship.         Laqad khalaqnaal-insana fee kabadin
 
5.  *     Thinketh he, that none hath power over him?     Does he think that no one will ever call him to account?     ايحسب ان لن يقدر عليه احد     Does he think/suppose that no one is capable/over powering on (over) him?         Ayahsabu an lan yaqdira AAalayhi ahadun
 
6.  *     He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance!     He boasts, "I spent so much money!"     يقول اهلكت مالا لبدا     He says: "I destroyed/wasted plenty property/possession/wealth."         Yaqoolu ahlaktu malan lubadan
 
7.  *     Thinketh he that none beholdeth him?     Does he think that no one sees him?     ايحسب ان لم يره احد     Does he think/suppose that (E) no one sees him?         Ayahsabu an lam yarahu ahadun
 
8.  *     Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?-     Did we not give him two eyes?     الم نجعل له عينين     Did We not make/create for him two eyes?         Alam najAAal lahu AAaynayni
 
9.  *     And a tongue, and a pair of lips?-     A tongue and two lips?     ولسانا وشفتين     And a tongue, and two lips?         Walisanan washafatayni
 
10.  *     And shown him the two highways?     Did we not show him the two paths?     وهديناه النجدين     And We guided him (to) the two paths/good or bad ?         Wahadaynahu alnnajdayni
 
11.  *     But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep.     He should choose the difficult path.     فلا اقتحم العقبة     So he did not rush/force (himself) into the high mountain path/road ?         Falaiqtahama alAAaqabata
 
12.  *     And what will explain to thee the path that is steep?-     Which one is the difficult path?     وماادراك ماالعقبة     And what made you know/informed you what the high mountain path/road (is) ?         Wamaadraka maalAAaqabatu
 
13.  *     (It is:) freeing the bondman;     The freeing of slaves.     فك رقبة     Releasing/freeing a neck/person/slave.         Fakku raqabatin
 
14.  *     Or the giving of food in a day of privation     Feeding, during the time of hardship.     او اطعام في يوم ذي مسغبة     Or feeding in a day/time of hunger/starvation/famine.         Aw itAAamun fee yawminthee masghabatin
 
15.  *     To the orphan with claims of relationship,     Orphans who are related.     يتيما ذا مقربة     An orphan of a relation/near/close.         Yateemanthamaqrabatin
 
16.  *     Or to the indigent (down) in the dust.     Or the poor who is in need.     او مسكينا ذا متربة     Or a poorest of poor/poor oppressed of poverty.         Aw miskeenanthamatrabatin
 
17.  *     Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion.     And being one of those who believe, and exhorting one another to be steadfast, and exhorting one another to be kind.     ثم كان من الذين امنوا وتواصوا بالصبر وتواصوا بالمرحمة     Then he was from those who believed and directed/commanded each other with the patience, and directed/commanded each other with the mercy/compassion.         Thumma kana mina allatheenaamanoo watawasaw bialssabri watawasaw bialmarhamati
 
18.  *     Such are the Companions of the Right Hand.     These have deserved happiness.     اولئك اصحاب الميمنة     Those are the blessings'/right's (side's/hand's) owners/friends/company.         Ola-ika as-habu almaymanati
 
19.  *     But those who reject Our Signs, they are the (unhappy) Companions of the Left Hand.     As for those who disbelieved in our revelations, they have incurred misery.     والذين كفروا باياتنا هم اصحاب المشئمة     And those who disbelieved with Our verses/evidences, they are the bad omen's/left side's owners/friends/company.         Waallatheena kafaroo bi-ayatinahum as-habu almash-amati
 
20.  *     On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round).     They will be confined in the Hellfire.     عليهم نار مؤصدة     Stationary/residing fire (is) on them.         AAalayhim narun mu\sadatun
