1. * |
By the Night as it conceals (the light);
|
|
By the night as it covers.
|
|
سورة الليل بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ٛــــ والليل اذا يغشى
|
|
And/by the night when/if it covers/darkens.
|
|
|
|
Waallayli ithayaghsha
|
|
2. * |
By the Day as it appears in glory;
|
|
The day as it reveals.
|
|
والنهار اذا تجلى
|
|
And/by the daytime when/if it uncovered/shined.
|
|
|
|
Waalnnahari ithatajalla
|
|
3. * |
By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;-
|
|
And Him who created the male and the female.
|
|
وماخلق الذكر والانثى
|
|
And/by what (who) created the male and the female.
|
|
|
|
Wamakhalaqa alththakara waal-ontha
|
|
4. * |
Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse.
|
|
Your works are of various kinds.
|
|
ان سعيكم لشتى
|
|
That truly your striving/endeavor (is) separate/different (E).
|
|
|
|
Inna saAAyakum lashatta
|
|
5. * |
So he who gives (in charity) and fears ((Allah)),
|
|
As for him who gives to charity and maintains righteousness.
|
|
فاما من اعطى واتقى
|
|
So but who gave/granted and feared and obeyed.
|
|
|
|
Faammaman aAAtawaittaqa
|
|
6. * |
And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,-
|
|
And upholds the scripture.
|
|
وصدق بالحسنى
|
|
And gave charity/confirmed with the best/most beautiful.
|
|
|
|
Wasaddaqa bialhusna
|
|
7. * |
We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss.
|
|
We will direct him towards happiness.
|
|
فسنيسره لليسرى
|
|
So We will ease him to the ease/prosperity.
|
|
|
|
Fasanuyassiruhu lilyusra
|
|
8. * |
But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient,
|
|
But he who is stingy, though he is rich.
|
|
واما من بخل واستغنى
|
|
And but who was stingy/miser and sufficed/availed.
|
|
|
|
Waammaman bakhila waistaghna
|
|
9. * |
And gives the lie to the best,-
|
|
And disbelieves in the scripture.
|
|
وكذب بالحسنى
|
|
And lied/denied/falsified with the best/most beautiful.
|
|
|
|
Wakaththaba bialhusna
|
|
10. * |
We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery;
|
|
We will direct him towards misery.
|
|
فسنيسره للعسرى
|
|
So We will ease him to the difficulty/hardship.
|
|
|
|
Fasanuyassiruhu lilAAusra
|
|
11. * |
Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit).
|
|
His money cannot help him when he falls.
|
|
ومايغني عنه ماله اذا تردى
|
|
And his property/possession/wealth does not enrich/suffice (replace) from him if he fell/was destroyed.
|
|
|
|
Wamayughnee AAanhu maluhu ithataradda
|
|
12. * |
Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide,
|
|
We provide the guidance.
|
|
ان علينا للهدى
|
|
That truly on Us (is) the guidance (E).
|
|
|
|
Inna AAalaynalalhuda
|
|
13. * |
And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning.
|
|
We control the Hereafter, as well as this life.
|
|
وان لنا للاخرة والاولى
|
|
And that truly for Us (is) the end (other life) (E), and the first/beginning.
|
|
|
|
Wa-inna lanalal-akhirata waal-oola
|
|
14. * |
Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely;
|
|
I have warned you about the blazing Hellfire.
|
|
فانذرتكم نارا تلظى
|
|
And so I warned you/gave you notice (of) a fire blazing/burning/inflaming.
|
|
|
|
Faanthartukum naran talaththa
|
|
15. * |
None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones
|
|
None burns therein except the wicked.
|
|
لايصلاها الا الاشقى
|
|
None roasts/suffers it except the most miserable/unhappy.
|
|
|
|
Layaslahaillaal-ashqa
|
|
16. * |
Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs.
|
|
Who disbelieves and turns away.
|
|
الذي كذب وتولى
|
|
Who lied/denied/falsified and turned away.
|
|
|
|
Allathee kaththaba watawalla
|
|
17. * |
But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,-
|
|
Avoiding it will be the righteous.
|
|
وسيجنبها الاتقى
|
|
And the most fearing and obeying will be made to avoid it/be distanced from it.
|
|
|
|
Wasayujannabuhaal-atqa
|
|
18. * |
Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification,
|
|
Who gives from his money to charity.
|
|
الذي يؤتى ماله يتزكى
|
|
Who gives/brings his property/possession/wealth (and) purifies/corrects (himself).
|
|
|
|
Allathee yu\tee malahu yatazakka
|
|
19. * |
And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return,
|
|
Seeking nothing in return.
|
|
ومالاحد عنده من نعمة تجزى
|
|
And (there) is not to anyone at Him from a blessing/goodness to be rewarded/reimbursed.
|
|
|
|
Wamali-ahadin AAindahu min niAAmatin tujza
|
|
20. * |
But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High;
|
|
Seeking only his Lord, the Most High.
|
|
الا ابتغاء وجه ربه الاعلى
|
|
Except wishing/desiring his Lord's the highest's/mightiest's/most dignified's face/front (path).
|
|
|
|
Illaibtighaa wajhi rabbihi al-aAAla
|
|
21. * |
And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction.
|
|
He will certainly attain salvation.
|
|
ولسوف يرضى
|
|
And he/He will/shall (E) accept/approve.
|
|
|
|
Walasawfa yarda
|
|
