1.  *     By the Glorious Morning Light,     By the forenoon.     سورة الضحى  بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ٛــــ والضحى     And/by the sunrise/daybreak.         Waaldduha
 
2.  *     And by the Night when it is still,-     By the night as it falls.     والليل اذا سجى     And/by the night when/if it quietened/became covered.         Waallayli ithasaja
 
3.  *     Thy Guardian-Lord hath not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased.     Your Lord never abandoned you, nor did He forget.     ماودعك ربك وماقلى     Your Lord did not leave/desert you, and nor hate/hit (you) on the head.         MawaddaAAaka rabbuka wamaqala
 
4.  *     And verily the Hereafter will be better for thee than the present.     The Hereafter is far better for you than this first (life).     وللاخرة خير لك من الاولى     And the end (other life) (E) (is) better for you than the first/beginning.         Walal-akhiratu khayrun laka mina al-oola
 
5.  *     And soon will thy Guardian-Lord give thee (that wherewith) thou shalt be well-pleased.     And your Lord will give you enough; you will be pleased.     ولسوف يعطيك ربك فترضى     And your Lord will/shall (E) give/grant you, so you accept/approve.         Walasawfa yuAAteeka rabbuka fatarda
 
6.  *     Did He not find thee an orphan and give thee shelter (and care)?     Did He not find you orphaned and He gave you a home?     الم يجدك يتيما فاوى     Did He not find you an orphan, so he sheltered (you)?         Alam yajidka yateeman faawa
 
7.  *     And He found thee wandering, and He gave thee guidance.     He found you astray, and guided you.     ووجدك ضالا فهدى     And He found you misguided so He guided (you)?         Wawajadakadallan fahada
 
8.  *     And He found thee in need, and made thee independent.     He found you poor, and made you rich.     ووجدك عائلا فاغنى     And He found you having dependents/poor, so He enriched/satisfied (you)?         Wawajadaka AAa-ilan faaghna
 
9.  *     Therefore, treat not the orphan with harshness,     Therefore, you shall not forsake the orphan.     فاما اليتيم فلا تقهر     So as for the orphan, so do not humiliate/compel.         Faammaalyateema falataqhar
 
10.  *     Nor repulse the petitioner (unheard);     Nor shall you reprimand the beggar.     واما السائل فلا تنهر     And as for the asker/questioner/beggar, so do not yell at/drive away.         Waammaalssa-ila falatanhar
 
11.  *     But the bounty of the Lord - rehearse and proclaim!     You shall proclaim the blessing your Lord has bestowed upon you.     واما بنعمة ربك فحدث     And as for with your Lord's blessing/goodness, so tell/inform.         WaammabiniAAmati rabbika fahaddith
