1.    The sons of the prophets said to Elisha, "See now, the place where we dwell before you is too small for us.     And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.     ויאמרו 
בני־הנביאים
אל־אלישע  הנה־נא
המקום  אשר  אנחנו
ישבים  שם  לפניך  צר
ממנו׃
    VY'aMUrV BNY-HNBY'aYM 'aL-'aLYSh'y HNH-N'a HMQVM 'aShUr 'aNChNV YShBYM ShM LPhNYK TShUr MMNV.     And sons of the prophet say unto Elisha, `Lo, we pray thee, the place where we are dwelling before thee is too strait for us;     dixerunt autem filii prophetarum ad Heliseum ecce locus in quo habitamus coram te angustus est nobis
 
2.    Let us go, please, to the Jordan, and every man a beam from there, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell." He answered, "Go!"     Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.     נלכה־נא  עד־הירדן 
ונקחה  משם  איש

ונעשה־לנו  שם  מקום
לשבת  שם  ויאמר
לכו׃
    NLKH-N'a 'yD-HYUrDN VNQChH MShM 'aYSh QVUrH 'aChTh VN'yShH-LNV ShM MQVM LShBTh ShM VY'aMUr LKV.     let us go, we pray thee, unto the Jordan, and we take thence each one beam, and we make for ourselves there a place to dwell there;` and he saith, `Go.`     eamus usque ad Iordanem et tollant singuli de silva materias singulas ut aedificemus nobis ibi locum ad habitandum qui dixit ite
 
3.    One said, "Please be pleased to go with your servants." He answered, "I will go."     And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.     ויאמר  האחד  הואל 
נא  ולך  את־עבדיך
ויאמר  אני  אלך׃
    VY'aMUr H'aChD HV'aL N'a VLK 'aTh-'yBDYK VY'aMUr 'aNY 'aLK.     And the one saith, `Be pleased, I pray thee, and go with thy servants;` and he saith, `I -- I go.`     et ait unus ex illis veni ergo et tu cum servis tuis respondit ego veniam
 
4.    So he went with them. When they came to the Jordan, they cut down wood.     So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.     וילך  אתם  ויבאו 
הירדנה  ויגזרו
העצים׃
    VYLK 'aThM VYB'aV HYUrDNH VYGZUrV H'yTShYM.     And he goeth with them, and they come in to the Jordan, and cut down the trees,     et abiit cum eis cumque venissent ad Iordanem caedebant ligna
 
5.    But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water. Then he cried, and said, "Alas, my master! For it was borrowed."     But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.     ויהי  האחד  מפיל 
הקורה  ואת־הברזל
נפל  אל־המים  ויצעק
ויאמר  אהה  אדני
והוא  שאול׃
    VYHY H'aChD MPhYL HQVUrH V'aTh-HBUrZL NPhL 'aL-HMYM VYTSh'yQ VY'aMUr 'aHH 'aDNY VHV'a Sh'aVL.     and it cometh to pass, the one is felling the beam, and the iron hath fallen into the water, and he crieth and saith, `Alas! my lord, and it asked!`     accidit autem ut cum unus materiem succidisset caderet ferrum securis in aquam exclamavitque ille et ait eheu eheu eheu domine mi et hoc ipsum mutuo acceperam
 
6.    The man of God asked, "Where did it fall?" He showed him the place. He cut down a stick, threw it in there, and made the iron float.     And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.     ויאמר  איש־האלהים 
אנה  נפל  ויראהו
את־המקום  ויקצב־עץ
וישלך־שמה  ויצף
הברזל׃
    VY'aMUr 'aYSh-H'aLHYM 'aNH NPhL VYUr'aHV 'aTh-HMQVM VYQTShB-'yTSh VYShLK-ShMH VYTShPh HBUrZL.     And the man of God saith, `Whither hath it fallen?` and he sheweth him the place, and he cutteth a stick, and casteth thither, and causeth the iron to swim,     dixit autem homo Dei ubi cecidit at ille monstravit ei locum praecidit ergo lignum et misit illuc natavitque ferrum
 
7.    He said, "Take it." So he put out his hand and took it.     Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.     ויאמר  הרם  לך 
וישלח  ידו  ויקחהו׃
    VY'aMUr HUrM LK VYShLCh YDV VYQChHV.     and saith, `Raise to thee;` and he putteth forth his hand and taketh it.     et ait tolle qui extendit manum et tulit illud
 
8.    Now the king of Syria was warring against Israel; and he took counsel with his servants, saying, "My camp will be in such and such a place."     Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp.     ומלך  ארם  היה  נלחם 
בישראל  ויועץ
אל־עבדיו  לאמר
אל־מקום  פלני
אלמני  תחנתי׃
    VMLK 'aUrM HYH NLChM BYShUr'aL VYV'yTSh 'aL-'yBDYV L'aMUr 'aL-MQVM PhLNY 'aLMNY ThChNThY.     And the king of Aram hath been fighting against Israel, and taketh counsel with his servants, saying, `At such and such a place is my encamping.`     rex autem Syriae pugnabat contra Israhel consiliumque iniit cum servis suis dicens in loco illo et illo ponamus insidias
 
9.    The man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, "Beware that you not pass such a place; for the Syrians are coming down there."     And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down.     וישלח  איש  האלהים 
אל־מלך  ישראל  לאמר
השמר  מעבר  המקום
הזה  כי־שם  ארם
נחתים׃
    VYShLCh 'aYSh H'aLHYM 'aL-MLK YShUr'aL L'aMUr HShMUr M'yBUr HMQVM HZH KY-ShM 'aUrM NChThYM.     And the man of God sendeth unto the king of Israel, saying, `Take heed of passing by this place, for thither are the Aramaeans coming down;     misit itaque vir Dei ad regem Israhel dicens cave ne transeas in loco illo quia ibi Syri in insidiis sunt
 
10.    The king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of; and he saved himself there, not once nor twice.     And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice.     וישלח  מלך  ישראל 
אל־המקום  אשר
אמר־לו  איש־האלהים

    VYShLCh MLK YShUr'aL 'aL-HMQVM 'aShUr 'aMUr-LV 'aYSh-H'aLHYM VHZHYUrH VNShMUr ShM L'a 'aChTh VL'a ShThYM.     and the king of Israel sendeth unto the place of which the man of God spake to him, and warned him, and he is preserved there not once nor twice.     misit rex Israhel ad locum quem dixerat ei vir Dei et praeoccupavit eum et observavit se ibi non semel neque bis
 
11.    The heart of the king of Syria was very troubled about this. He called his servants, and said to them, "Won't you show me which of us is for the king of Israel?"     Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel?     ויסער  לב  מלך־ארם 
על־הדבר  הזה  ויקרא
אל־עבדיו  ויאמר
אליהם  הלוא  תגידו
לי  מי  משלנו
אל־מלך  ישראל׃
    VYS'yUr LB MLK-'aUrM 'yL-HDBUr HZH VYQUr'a 'aL-'yBDYV VY'aMUr 'aLYHM HLV'a ThGYDV LY MY MShLNV 'aL-MLK YShUr'aL.     And the heart of the king of Aram is tossed about concerning this thing, and he calleth unto his servants, and saith unto them, `Do ye not declare to me who of us is for the king of Israel?`     conturbatumque est cor regis Syriae pro hac re et convocatis servis suis ait quare non indicastis mihi quis proditor mei sit apud regem Israhel
 
12.    One of his servants said, "No, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom."     And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.     ויאמר  אחד  מעבדיו 
לוא  אדני  המלך
כי־אלישע  הנביא
אשר  בישראל  יגיד
למלך  ישראל
את־הדברים  אשר
תדבר  בחדר  משכבך׃
    VY'aMUr 'aChD M'yBDYV LV'a 'aDNY HMLK KY-'aLYSh'y HNBY'a 'aShUr BYShUr'aL YGYD LMLK YShUr'aL 'aTh-HDBUrYM 'aShUr ThDBUr BChDUr MShKBK.     And one of his servants saith, `Nay, my lord, O king, for Elisha the prophet, who is in Israel, declareth to the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in the inner part of thy bed-chamber.`     dixitque unus servorum eius nequaquam domine mi rex sed Heliseus propheta qui est in Israhel indicat regi Israhel omnia verba quaecumque locutus fueris in conclavi tuo
 
13.    He said, "Go and see where he is, that I may send and get him." It was told him, saying, "Behold, he is in Dothan."     And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.     ויאמר  לכו  וראו 
איכה  הוא  ואשלח
ואקחהו  ויגד־לו
לאמר  הנה  בדתן׃
    VY'aMUr LKV VUr'aV 'aYKH HV'a V'aShLCh V'aQChHV VYGD-LV L'aMUr HNH BDThN.     And he saith, `Go ye and see where he is, and I send and take him;` and it is declared to him, saying, `Lo -- in Dothan.`     dixit eis ite et videte ubi sit ut mittam et capiam eum adnuntiaveruntque ei dicentes ecce in Dothan
 
14.    Therefore he sent horses, chariots, and a great army there. They came by night, and surrounded the city.     Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about.     וישלח־שמה  סוסים 
ורכב  וחיל  כבד
ויבאו  לילה  ויקפו
על־העיר׃
    VYShLCh-ShMH SVSYM VUrKB VChYL KBD VYB'aV LYLH VYQPhV 'yL-H'yYUr.     And he sendeth thither horses and chariot, and a heavy force, and they come in by night, and go round against the city.     misit ergo illuc equos et currus et robur exercitus qui cum venissent nocte circumdederunt civitatem
 
15.    When the servant of the man of God had risen early, and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was around the city. His servant said to him, "Alas, my master! What shall we do?"     And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?     וישכם  משרת  איש 
האלהים  לקום  ויצא
והנה־חיל  סובב
את־העיר  וסוס  ורכב
ויאמר  נערו  אליו
אהה  אדני  איכה
נעשה׃
    VYShKM MShUrTh 'aYSh H'aLHYM LQVM VYTSh'a VHNH-ChYL SVBB 'aTh-H'yYUr VSVS VUrKB VY'aMUr N'yUrV 'aLYV 'aHH 'aDNY 'aYKH N'yShH.     And the servant of the man of God riseth early, and goeth out, and lo, a force is surrounding the city, and horse and chariot, and his young man saith unto him, `Alas! my lord, how do we do?`     consurgens autem diluculo minister viri Dei egressus est viditque exercitum in circuitu civitatis et equos et currus nuntiavitque ei dicens eheu eheu domine mi quid faciemus
 
16.    He answered, "Don't be afraid; for those who are with us are more than those who are with them."     And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.     ויאמר  אל־תירא  כי 
רבים  אשר  אתנו
מאשר  אותם׃
    VY'aMUr 'aL-ThYUr'a KY UrBYM 'aShUr 'aThNV M'aShUr 'aVThM.     And he saith, `Fear not, for more are they who are with us than they who are with them.`     at ille respondit noli timere plures enim nobiscum sunt quam cum illis
 
17.    Elisha prayed, and said, "Yahweh, please open his eyes, that he may see." Yahweh opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire around Elisha.     And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.     ויתפלל  אלישע 
ויאמר  יהוה  פקח־נא
את־עיניו  ויראה
ויפקח  יהוה  את־
עיני  הנער  וירא
והנה  ההר  מלא
סוסים  ורכב  אש
סביבת  אלישע׃
    VYThPhLL 'aLYSh'y VY'aMUr YHVH PhQCh-N'a 'aTh-'yYNYV VYUr'aH VYPhQCh YHVH 'aTh- 'yYNY HN'yUr VYUr'a VHNH HHUr ML'a SVSYM VUrKB 'aSh SBYBTh 'aLYSh'y.     And Elisha prayeth, and saith, `Jehovah, open, I pray Thee, his eyes, and he doth see;` and Jehovah openeth the eyes of the young man, and he seeth, and lo, the hill is full of horses and chariots of fire, round about Elisha.     cumque orasset Heliseus ait Domine aperi oculos huius ut videat et aperuit Dominus oculos pueri et vidit et ecce mons plenus equorum et curruum igneorum in circuitu Helisei
 
18.    When they came down to him, Elisha prayed to Yahweh, and said, "Please strike this people with blindness." He struck them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.     And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.     וירדו  אליו  ויתפלל 
אלישע  אל־יהוה
ויאמר  הך־נא
את־הגוי־הזה
בסנורים  ויכם
בסנורים  כדבר
אלישע׃
    VYUrDV 'aLYV VYThPhLL 'aLYSh'y 'aL-YHVH VY'aMUr HK-N'a 'aTh-HGVY-HZH BSNVUrYM VYKM BSNVUrYM KDBUr 'aLYSh'y.     And they come down unto it, and Elisha prayeth unto Jehovah, and saith, `Smite, I pray Thee, this nation with blindness;` and He smiteth them with blindness, according to the word of Elisha.     hostes vero descenderunt ad eum porro Heliseus oravit Dominum dicens percute obsecro gentem hanc caecitate percussitque eos Dominus ne viderent iuxta verbum Helisei
 
19.    Elisha said to them, "This is not the way, neither is this the city. Follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom you seek." He led them to Samaria.     And Elisha said unto them, This is not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria.     ויאמר  אלהם  אלישע 
לא  זה  הדרך  ולא  זה
העיר  לכו  אחרי
ואוליכה  אתכם
אל־האיש  אשר
תבקשון  וילך  אותם
שמרונה׃
    VY'aMUr 'aLHM 'aLYSh'y L'a ZH HDUrK VL'a ZH H'yYUr LKV 'aChUrY V'aVLYKH 'aThKM 'aL-H'aYSh 'aShUr ThBQShVN VYLK 'aVThM ShMUrVNH.     And Elisha saith unto them, `This is not the way, nor is this the city; come after me, and I lead you unto the man whom ye seek;` and he leadeth them to Samaria.     dixit autem ad eos Heliseus non est haec via nec ista est civitas sequimini me et ostendam vobis virum quem quaeritis duxit ergo eos in Samariam
 
20.    It happened, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, "Yahweh, open the eyes of these men, that they may see." Yahweh opened their eyes, and they saw; and behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.     And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, LORD, open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.     ויהי  כבאם  שמרון 
ויאמר  אלישע  יהוה
פקח  את־עיני־אלה
ויראו  ויפקח  יהוה
את־עיניהם  ויראו
והנה  בתוך  שמרון׃
    VYHY KB'aM ShMUrVN VY'aMUr 'aLYSh'y YHVH PhQCh 'aTh-'yYNY-'aLH VYUr'aV VYPhQCh YHVH 'aTh-'yYNYHM VYUr'aV VHNH BThVK ShMUrVN.     And it cometh to pass, at their coming in to Samaria, that Elisha saith, `Jehovah, open the eyes of these, and they see;` and Jehovah openeth their eyes, and they see, and lo, in the midst of Samaria!     cumque ingressi fuissent in Samaria dixit Heliseus Domine aperi oculos istorum ut videant aperuitque Dominus oculos eorum et viderunt esse se in medio Samariae
 
21.    The king of Israel said to Elisha, when he saw them, "My father, shall I strike them? Shall I strike them?"     And the king of Israel said unto Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smite them? shall I smite them?     ויאמר  מלך־ישראל 
אל־אלישע  כראתו
אותם  האכה  אכה
אבי׃
    VY'aMUr MLK-YShUr'aL 'aL-'aLYSh'y KUr'aThV 'aVThM H'aKH 'aKH 'aBY.     And the king of Israel saith unto Elisha, at his seeing them, `Do I smite -- do I smite -- my father?`     dixitque rex Israhel ad Heliseum cum vidisset eos numquid percutiam eos pater mi
 
22.    He answered, "You shall not strike them. Would you strike those whom you have taken captive with your sword and with your bow? Set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master."     And he answered, Thou shalt not smite them: wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.     ויאמר  לא  תכה  האשר 
שבית  בחרבך  ובקשתך
אתה  מכה  שים  לחם
ומים  לפניהם
ויאכלו  וישתו
וילכו  אל־אדניהם׃
    VY'aMUr L'a ThKH H'aShUr ShBYTh BChUrBK VBQShThK 'aThH MKH ShYM LChM VMYM LPhNYHM VY'aKLV VYShThV VYLKV 'aL-'aDNYHM.     And he saith, `Thou dost not smite; those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow art thou smiting? set bread and water before them, and they eat, and drink, and go unto their lord.`     at ille ait non percuties neque enim cepisti eos gladio et arcu tuo ut percutias pone panem et aquam coram eis ut comedant et bibant et vadant ad dominum suum
 
23.    He prepared great feast for them. When they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. The bands of Syria stopped raiding the land of Israel.     And he prepared great provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel.     ויכרה  להם  כרה 
גדולה  ויאכלו
וישתו  וישלחם
וילכו  אל־אדניהם
ולא־  יספו  עוד
גדודי  ארם  לבוא
בארץ  ישראל׃
    VYKUrH LHM KUrH GDVLH VY'aKLV VYShThV VYShLChM VYLKV 'aL-'aDNYHM VL'a- YSPhV 'yVD GDVDY 'aUrM LBV'a B'aUrTSh YShUr'aL.     And he prepareth for them great provision, and they eat and drink, and he sendeth them away, and they go unto their lord: and troops of Aram have not added any more to come in to the land of Israel.     adpositaque est eis ciborum magna praeparatio et comederunt et biberunt et dimisit eos abieruntque ad dominum suum et ultra non venerunt latrones Syriae in terram Israhel
 
24.    It happened after this, that Benhadad king of Syria gathered all his army, and went up and besieged Samaria.     And it came to pass after this, that Benhadad king of Syria gathered all his host, and went up, and besieged Samaria.     ויהי  אחרי־כן 
ויקבץ  בן־הדד
מלך־ארם
את־כל־מחנהו  ויעל
ויצר  על־  שמרון׃
    VYHY 'aChUrY-KN VYQBTSh BN-HDD MLK-'aUrM 'aTh-KL-MChNHV VY'yL VYTShUr 'yL- ShMUrVN.     And it cometh to pass afterwards, that Ben-Hadad king of Aram gathereth all his camp, and goeth up, and layeth siege to Samaria,     factum est autem post haec congregavit Benadad rex Syriae universum exercitum suum et ascendit et obsidebat Samariam
 
25.    There was a great famine in Samaria. Behold, they besieged it, until a donkey's head was sold for eighty pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a kab of dove's dung for five pieces of silver.     And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an ass's head was sold for fourscore pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove's dung for five pieces of silver.     ויהי  רעב  גדול 
בשמרון  והנה  צרים
עליה  עד  היות
ראש־חמור  בשמנים
כסף  ורבע  הקב
חרייונים
בחמשה־כסף׃
    VYHY Ur'yB GDVL BShMUrVN VHNH TShUrYM 'yLYH 'yD HYVTh Ur'aSh-ChMVUr BShMNYM KSPh VUrB'y HQB ChUrYYVNYM BChMShH-KSPh.     and there is a great famine in Samaria, and lo, they are laying siege to it, till the head of an ass is at eighty silverlings, and a forth of the cab of dovesdung at five silverlings.     factaque est fames magna in Samaria et tamdiu obsessa est donec venundaretur caput asini octoginta argenteis et quarta pars cabi stercoris columbarum quinque argenteis
 
26.    As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried to him, saying, "Help, my lord, O king!"     And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman unto him, saying, Help, my lord, O king.     ויהי  מלך  ישראל 
עבר  על־החמה  ואשה
צעקה  אליו  לאמר
הושיעה  אדני  המלך׃
    VYHY MLK YShUr'aL 'yBUr 'yL-HChMH V'aShH TSh'yQH 'aLYV L'aMUr HVShY'yH 'aDNY HMLK.     And it cometh to pass, the king of Israel is passing by on the wall, and a woman hath cried unto him, saying, `Save, my lord, O king.`     cumque rex Israhel transiret per murum mulier exclamavit ad eum dicens salva me domine mi rex
 
27.    He said, "If Yahweh doesn't help you, from where could I help you? From of the threshing floor, or from the winepress?"     And he said, If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the barnfloor, or out of the winepress?     ויאמר  אל־יושעך 
יהוה  מאין  אושיעך
המן־הגרן  או
מן־היקב׃
    VY'aMUr 'aL-YVSh'yK YHVH M'aYN 'aVShY'yK HMN-HGUrN 'aV MN-HYQB.     And he saith, `Jehovah doth not save thee -- whence do I save thee? out of the threshing-floor, or out of the wine-vat?`     qui ait non te salvet Dominus unde salvare te possum de area an de torculari dixitque ad eam rex quid tibi vis quae respondit
 
28.    The king said to her, "What ails you?" She answered, "This woman said to me, 'Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.'     And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow.     ויאמר־לה  המלך 
מה־לך  ותאמר  האשה
הזאת  אמרה  אלי  תני
את־בנך  ונאכלנו
היום  ואת־בני  נאכל
מחר׃
    VY'aMUr-LH HMLK MH-LK VTh'aMUr H'aShH HZ'aTh 'aMUrH 'aLY ThNY 'aTh-BNK VN'aKLNV HYVM V'aTh-BNY N'aKL MChUr.     And the king saith to her, `What -- to thee?` and she saith, `This woman said unto me, Give thy son, and we eat him to-day, and my son we eat to-morrow;     mulier ista dixit mihi da filium tuum ut comedamus eum hodie et filium meum comedemus cras
 
29.    So we boiled my son, and ate him: and I said to her on the next day, 'Give your son, that we may eat him;' and she has hidden her son."     So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son.     ונבשל  את־בני 
ונאכלהו  ואמר  אליה
ביום  האחר  תני
את־בנך  ונאכלנו
ותחבא  את־בנה׃
    VNBShL 'aTh-BNY VN'aKLHV V'aMUr 'aLYH BYVM H'aChUr ThNY 'aTh-BNK VN'aKLNV VThChB'a 'aTh-BNH.     and we boil my son and eat him, and I say unto her on the next day, Give thy son, and we eat him; and she hideth her son.`     coximus ergo filium meum et comedimus dixique ei die altera da filium tuum ut comedamus eum quae abscondit filium suum
 
30.    It happened, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he tore his clothes (now he was passing by on the wall); and the people looked, and behold, he had sackcloth underneath on his flesh.     And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes; and he passed by upon the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, he had sackcloth within upon his flesh.     ויהי  כשמע  המלך 
את־דברי  האשה
ויקרע  את־בגדיו
והוא  עבר  על־החמה
וירא  העם  והנה  השק
על־בשרו  מבית׃
    VYHY KShM'y HMLK 'aTh-DBUrY H'aShH VYQUr'y 'aTh-BGDYV VHV'a 'yBUr 'yL-HChMH VYUr'a H'yM VHNH HShQ 'yL-BShUrV MBYTh.     And it cometh to pass, at the king`s hearing the words of the woman, that he rendeth his garments, and he is passing by on the wall, and the people see, and lo, the sackcloth is on his flesh within.     quod cum audisset rex scidit vestimenta sua et transiebat super murum viditque omnis populus cilicium quo vestitus erat ad carnem intrinsecus
 
31.    Then he said, "God do so to me, and more also, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stay on him this day."     Then he said, God do so and more also to me, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stand on him this day.     ויאמר  כה־יעשה־לי 
אלהים  וכה  יוסף
אם־יעמד  ראש  אלישע
בן־שפט  עליו  היום׃
    VY'aMUr KH-Y'yShH-LY 'aLHYM VKH YVSPh 'aM-Y'yMD Ur'aSh 'aLYSh'y BN-ShPhT 'yLYV HYVM.     And he saith, `Thus doth God do to me, and thus He doth add -- if it remain -- the head of Elisha son of Shaphat -- upon him this day.`     et ait haec mihi faciat Deus et haec addat si steterit caput Helisei filii Saphat super eum hodie
 
32.    But Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. Then the king sent a man from before him; but before the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, "Do you see how this son of a murderer has sent to take away my head? Behold, when the messenger comes, shut the door, and hold the door shut against him. Isn't the sound of his master's feet behind him?"     But Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and the king sent a man from before him: but ere the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: is not the sound of his master's feet behind him?     ואלישע  ישב  בביתו 
והזקנים  ישבים  אתו
וישלח  איש  מלפניו
בטרם  יבא  המלאך
אליו  והוא  אמר
אל־הזקנים  הראיתם
כי־שלח  בן־המרצח
הזה  להסיר  את־ראשי
ראו  כבא  המלאך
סגרו  הדלת  ולחצתם
אתו  בדלת  הלוא  קול
רגלי  אדניו  אחריו׃
    V'aLYSh'y YShB BBYThV VHZQNYM YShBYM 'aThV VYShLCh 'aYSh MLPhNYV BTUrM YB'a HML'aK 'aLYV VHV'a 'aMUr 'aL-HZQNYM HUr'aYThM KY-ShLCh BN-HMUrTShCh HZH LHSYUr 'aTh-Ur'aShY Ur'aV KB'a HML'aK SGUrV HDLTh VLChTShThM 'aThV BDLTh HLV'a QVL UrGLY 'aDNYV 'aChUrYV.     And Elisha is sitting in his house, and the elders are sitting with him, and the king sendeth a man from before him; before the messenger doth come unto him, even he himself said unto the elders, `Have ye seen that this son of the murderer hath sent to turn aside my head? see, at the coming in of the messenger, shut the door, and ye have held him fast at the door, is not the sound of the feet of his lord behind him?`     Heliseus autem sedebat in domo sua et senes sedebant cum eo praemisit itaque virum et antequam veniret nuntius ille dixit ad senes numquid scitis quod miserit filius homicidae hic ut praecidatur caput meum videte ergo cum venerit nuntius cludite ostium et non sinatis eum introire ecce enim sonitus pedum domini eius post eum est
 
33.    While he was still talking with them, behold, the messenger came down to him. Then he said, "Behold, this evil is from Yahweh. Why should I wait for Yahweh any longer?"     And while he yet talked with them, behold, the messenger came down unto him: and he said, Behold, this evil is of the LORD; what should I wait for the LORD any longer?     עודנו  מדבר  עמם 
והנה  המלאך  ירד
אליו  ויאמר
הנה־זאת  הרעה  מאת
יהוה  מה־אוחיל
ליהוה  עוד׃
