1.    Job again took up his parable, and said,     Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,     ויסף  איוב  שאת 
משלו  ויאמר׃
    VYSPh 'aYVB Sh'aTh MShLV VY'aMUr.     And Job addeth to lift up his simile, and saith: --     addidit quoque Iob adsumens parabolam suam et dixit
 
2.    "Oh that I were as in the months of old, as in the days when God watched over me;     Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;     מי־יתנני 
כירחי־קדם  כימי
אלוה  ישמרני׃
    MY-YThNNY KYUrChY-QDM KYMY 'aLVH YShMUrNY.     Who doth make me as in months past, As in the days of God`s preserving me?     quis mihi tribuat ut sim iuxta menses pristinos secundum dies quibus Deus custodiebat me
 
3.    when his lamp shone on my head, and by his light I walked through darkness,     When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;     בהלו  נרו  עלי  ראשי 
לאורו  אלך  חשך׃
    BHLV NUrV 'yLY Ur'aShY L'aVUrV 'aLK ChShK.     In His causing His lamp to shine on my head, By His light I walk through darkness.     quando splendebat lucerna eius super caput meum et ad lumen eius ambulabam in tenebris
 
4.    as I was in the ripeness of my days, when the friendship of God was in my tent,     As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;     כאשר  הייתי  בימי 
חרפי  בסוד  אלוה
עלי  אהלי׃
    K'aShUr HYYThY BYMY ChUrPhY BSVD 'aLVH 'yLY 'aHLY.     As I have been in days of my maturity, And the counsel of God upon my tent.     sicut fui in diebus adulescentiae meae quando secreto Deus erat in tabernaculo meo
 
5.    when the Almighty was yet with me, and my children were around me,     When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me;     בעוד  שדי  עמדי 
סביבותי  נערי׃
    B'yVD ShDY 'yMDY SBYBVThY N'yUrY.     When yet the Mighty One is with me. Round about me -- my young ones,     quando erat Omnipotens mecum et in circuitu meo pueri mei
 
6.    when my steps were washed with butter, and the rock poured out streams of oil for me,     When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;     ברחץ  הליכי  בחמה 
וצור  יצוק  עמדי
פלגי־שמן׃
    BUrChTSh HLYKY BChMH VTShVUr YTShVQ 'yMDY PhLGY-ShMN.     When washing my goings with butter, And the firm rock is with me rivulets of oil.     quando lavabam pedes meos butyro et petra fundebat mihi rivos olei
 
7.    when I went forth to the city gate, when I prepared my seat in the street.     When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street!     בצאתי  שער  עלי־קרת 
ברחוב  אכין  מושבי׃
    BTSh'aThY Sh'yUr 'yLY-QUrTh BUrChVB 'aKYN MVShBY.     When I go out to the gate by the city, In a broad place I prepare my seat.     quando procedebam ad portam civitatis et in platea parabant cathedram mihi
 
8.    The young men saw me and hid themselves. The aged rose up and stood.     The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the aged arose, and stood up.     ראוני  נערים 
ונחבאו  וישישים
קמו  עמדו׃
    Ur'aVNY N'yUrYM VNChB'aV VYShYShYM QMV 'yMDV.     Seen me have youths, and they, been hidden, And the aged have risen -- they stood up.     videbant me iuvenes et abscondebantur et senes adsurgentes stabant
 
9.    The princes refrained from talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.     The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.     שרים  עצרו  במלים 
וכף  ישימו  לפיהם׃
    ShUrYM 'yTShUrV BMLYM VKPh YShYMV LPhYHM.     Princes have kept in words, And a hand they place on their mouth.     principes cessabant loqui et digitum superponebant ori suo
 
10.    The voice of the nobles was hushed, and their tongue stuck to the roof of their mouth.     The nobles held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth.     קול־נגידים  נחבאו 
ולשונם  לחכם  דבקה׃
    QVL-NGYDYM NChB'aV VLShVNM LChKM DBQH.     The voice of leaders hath been hidden, And their tongue to the palate hath cleaved.     vocem suam cohibebant duces et lingua eorum gutturi suo adherebat
 
11.    For when the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it commended me:     When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me:     כי  אזן  שמעה 
ותאשרני  ועין  ראתה
ותעידני׃
    KY 'aZN ShM'yH VTh'aShUrNY V'yYN Ur'aThH VTh'yYDNY.     For the ear heard, and declareth me happy, And the eye hath seen, and testifieth to me.     auris audiens beatificabat me et oculus videns testimonium reddebat mihi
 
12.    Because I delivered the poor who cried, and the fatherless also, who had none to help him,     Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him.     כי־אמלט  עני  משוע 
ויתום  ולא־עזר  לו׃
    KY-'aMLT 'yNY MShV'y VYThVM VL'a-'yZUr LV.     For I deliver the afflicted who is crying, And the fatherless who hath no helper.     quod liberassem pauperem vociferantem et pupillum cui non esset adiutor
 
13.    the blessing of him who was ready to perish came on me, and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.     The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.     ברכת  אבד  עלי  תבא 
ולב  אלמנה  ארנן׃
    BUrKTh 'aBD 'yLY ThB'a VLB 'aLMNH 'aUrNN.     The blessing of the perishing cometh on me, And the heart of the widow I cause to sing.     benedictio perituri super me veniebat et cor viduae consolatus sum
 
14.    I put on righteousness, and it clothed me. My justice was as a robe and a diadem.     I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.     צדק  לבשתי  וילבשני

    TShDQ LBShThY VYLBShNY KM'yYL VTShNYPh MShPhTY.     Righteousness I have put on, and it clotheth me, As a robe and a diadem my justice.     iustitia indutus sum et vestivit me sicut vestimento et diademate iudicio meo
 
15.    I was eyes to the blind, and feet to the lame.     I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame.     עינים  הייתי  לעור 
ורגלים  לפסח  אני׃
    'yYNYM HYYThY L'yVUr VUrGLYM LPhSCh 'aNY.     Eyes I have been to the blind, And feet to the lame am I.     oculus fui caeco et pes claudo
 
16.    I was a father to the needy. The cause of him who I didn't know, I searched out.     I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.     אב  אנכי  לאביונים 
ורב  לא־ידעתי
אחקרהו׃
    'aB 'aNKY L'aBYVNYM VUrB L'a-YD'yThY 'aChQUrHV.     A father I am to the needy, And the cause I have not known I search out.     pater eram pauperum et causam quam nesciebam diligentissime investigabam
 
17.    I broke the jaws of the unrighteous, and plucked the prey out of his teeth.     And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.     ואשברה  מתלעות  עול 
ומשניו  אשליך  טרף׃
    V'aShBUrH MThL'yVTh 'yVL VMShNYV 'aShLYK TUrPh.     And I break the jaw-teeth of the perverse, And from his teeth I cast away prey.     conterebam molas iniqui et de dentibus illius auferebam praedam
 
18.    Then I said, 'I shall die in my own house, I shall number my days as the sand.     Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand.     ואמר  עם־קני  אגוע 
וכחול  ארבה  ימים׃
    V'aMUr 'yM-QNY 'aGV'y VKChVL 'aUrBH YMYM.     And I say, `With my nest I expire, And as the sand I multiply days.`     dicebamque in nidulo meo moriar et sicut palma multiplicabo dies
 
19.    My root is spread out to the waters. The dew lies all night on my branch.     My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch.     שרשי  פתוח  אלי־מים 
וטל  ילין  בקצירי׃
    ShUrShY PhThVCh 'aLY-MYM VTL YLYN BQTShYUrY.     My root is open unto the waters, And dew doth lodge on my branch.     radix mea aperta est secus aquas et ros morabitur in messione mea
 
20.    My glory is fresh in me. My bow is renewed in my hand.'     My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand.     כבודי  חדש  עמדי 
וקשתי  בידי  תחליף׃
    KBVDY ChDSh 'yMDY VQShThY BYDY ThChLYPh.     My honour is fresh with me, And my bow in my hand is renewed.     gloria mea semper innovabitur et arcus meus in manu mea instaurabitur
 
21.    "Men listened to me, waited, and kept silence for my counsel.     Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.     לי־שמעו  ויחלו 
וידמו  למו  עצתי׃
    LY-ShM'yV VYChLV VYDMV LMV 'yTShThY.     To me they have hearkened, Yea, they wait, and are silent for my counsel.     qui me audiebant expectabant sententiam et intenti tacebant ad consilium meum
 
22.    After my words they didn't speak again. My speech fell on them.     After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.     אחרי  דברי  לא  ישנו 
ועלימו  תטף  מלתי׃
    'aChUrY DBUrY L'a YShNV V'yLYMV ThTPh MLThY.     After my word they change not, And on them doth my speech drop,     verbis meis addere nihil audebant et super illos stillabat eloquium meum
 
23.    They waited for me as for the rain. Their mouths drank as with the spring rain.     And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.     ויחלו  כמטר  לי 
ופיהם  פערו
למלקוש׃
    VYChLV KMTUr LY VPhYHM Ph'yUrV LMLQVSh.     And they wait as for rain for me, And their mouth they have opened wide As for the latter rain.     expectabant me sicut pluviam et os suum aperiebant quasi ad imbrem serotinum
 
24.    I smiled on them when they had no confidence. They didn't reject the light of my face.     If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down.     אשחק  אלהם  לא 
יאמינו  ואור  פני
לא  יפילון׃
    'aShChQ 'aLHM L'a Y'aMYNV V'aVUr PhNY L'a YPhYLVN.     I laugh unto them -- they give no credence, And the light of my face cause not to fall.     si quando ridebam ad eos non credebant et lux vultus mei non cadebat in terram
