3.    Brandish the spear and block those who pursue me. Tell my soul, "I am your salvation."     Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.     והרק  חנית  וסגר

לנפשי  ישעתך  אני׃
    VHUrQ ChNYTh VSGUr LQUr'aTh UrDPhY 'aMUr LNPhShY YSh'yThK 'aNY.     And draw out spear and lance, To meet my pursuers. Say to my soul, `Thy salvation I am.`     evagina gladium et praeoccupa ex adverso persequentem me dic animae meae salus tua ego sum
 
4.    Let those who seek after my soul be disappointed and brought to dishonor. Let those who plot my ruin be turned back and confounded.     Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.     יבשו  ויכלמו  מבקשי 
נפשי  יסגו  אחור
ויחפרו  חשבי  רעתי׃
    YBShV VYKLMV MBQShY NPhShY YSGV 'aChVUr VYChPhUrV ChShBY Ur'yThY.     They are ashamed and blush, those seeking my soul, Turned backward and confounded, Those devising my evil.     confundantur et revereantur qui quaerunt animam meam convertantur retrorsum et confundantur qui cogitant malum mihi
 
5.    Let them be as chaff before the wind, Yahweh's angel driving them on.     Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them.     יהיו  כמץ  לפני־רוח 
ומלאך  יהוה  דוחה׃
    YHYV KMTSh LPhNY-UrVCh VML'aK YHVH DVChH.     They are as chaff before wind, And a messenger of Jehovah driving away.     fiant sicut pulvis ante faciem venti et angelus Domini inpellat
 
6.    Let their way be dark and slippery, Yahweh's angel pursuing them.     Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them.     יהי־דרכם  חשך 
וחלקלקות  ומלאך
יהוה  רדפם׃
    YHY-DUrKM ChShK VChLQLQVTh VML'aK YHVH UrDPhM.     Their way is darkness and slipperiness, And a messenger of Jehovah their pursuer.     sit via eorum tenebrae et lubricum et angelus Domini persequatur eos
 
7.    For without cause they have hidden their net in a pit for me. Without cause they have dug a pit for my soul.     For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul.     כי־חנם  טמנו־לי 
שחת  רשתם  חנם  חפרו
לנפשי׃
    KY-ChNM TMNV-LY ShChTh UrShThM ChNM ChPhUrV LNPhShY.     For without cause they hid for me their netpit, Without cause they digged for my soul.     quia frustra absconderunt mihi insidias retis sui sine causa foderunt animae meae
 
8.    Let destruction come on him unawares. Let his net that he has hidden catch himself. Let him fall into that destruction.     Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.     תבואהו  שואה 
לא־ידע  ורשתו
אשר־טמן  תלכדו
בשואה  יפל־בה׃
    ThBV'aHV ShV'aH L'a-YD'y VUrShThV 'aShUr-TMN ThLKDV BShV'aH YPhL-BH.     Meet him doth desolation -- he knoweth not, And his net that he hid catcheth him, For desolation he falleth into it.     veniat ei calamitas quam ignorat et rete suum quod abscondit conprehendat eum et cadat in laqueum
 
9.    My soul shall be joyful in Yahweh. It shall rejoice in his salvation.     And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation.     ונפשי  תגיל  ביהוה 
תשיש  בישועתו׃
    VNPhShY ThGYL BYHVH ThShYSh BYShV'yThV.     And my soul is joyful in Jehovah, It rejoiceth in His salvation.     anima autem mea exultabit in Domino et laetabitur in salute sua
 
10.    All my bones shall say, "Yahweh, who is like you, who delivers the poor from him who is too strong for him; yes, the poor and the needy from him who robs him?"     All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?     כל  עצמותי  תאמרנה 
יהוה  מי  כמוך  מציל
עני  מחזק  ממנו
ועני  ואביון
מגזלו׃
    KL 'yTShMVThY Th'aMUrNH YHVH MY KMVK MTShYL 'yNY MChZQ MMNV V'yNY V'aBYVN MGZLV.     All my bones say, `Jehovah, who is like Thee, Delivering the poor from the stronger than he, And the poor and needy from his plunderer.`     omnia ossa mea dicent Domine quis similis tui eruens inopem a validiore et pauperem et mendicum a violento
 
11.    Unrighteous witnesses rise up. They ask me about things that I don't know about.     False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.     יקומון  עדי  חמס

ישאלוני׃
    YQVMVN 'yDY ChMS 'aShUr L'a-YD'yThY YSh'aLVNY.     Violent witnesses rise up, That which I have not known they ask me.     surgentes testes iniqui quae nesciebam interrogabant me
 
12.    They reward me evil for good, to the bereaving of my soul.     They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul.     ישלמוני  רעה  תחת 
טובה  שכול  לנפשי׃
    YShLMVNY Ur'yH ThChTh TVBH ShKVL LNPhShY.     They pay me evil for good, bereaving my soul,     reddebant mihi mala pro bono sterilitatem animae meae
 
13.    But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth. I afflicted my soul with fasting. My prayer returned into my own bosom.     But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.     ואני  בחלותם  לבושי 
שק  עניתי  בצום
נפשי  ותפלתי
על־חיקי  תשוב׃
    V'aNY BChLVThM LBVShY ShQ 'yNYThY BTShVM NPhShY VThPhLThY 'yL-ChYQY ThShVB.     And I -- in their sickness my clothing is sackcloth, I have humbled with fastings my soul, And my prayer unto my bosom returneth.     ego autem cum infirmarer ab eis induebar cilicio humiliabam in ieiunio animam meam et oratio mea ad sinum meum revertetur
 
14.    I behaved myself as though it had been my friend or my brother. I bowed down mourning, as one who mourns his mother.     I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.     כרע־כאח  לי 
התהלכתי  כאבל־אם
קדר  שחותי׃
    KUr'y-K'aCh LY HThHLKThY K'aBL-'aM QDUr ShChVThY.     As if a friend, as if my brother, I walked habitually, As a mourner for a mother, Mourning I have bowed down.     quasi ad amicum quasi ad fratrem meum sic ambulabam quasi lugens mater tristis incurvabar
 
15.    But in my adversity, they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together. The attackers gathered themselves together against me, and I didn't know it. They tore at me, and didn't cease.     But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:     ובצלעי  שמחו 
ונאספו  נאספו  עלי
נכים  ולא  ידעתי
קרעו  ולא־דמו׃
    VBTShL'yY ShMChV VN'aSPhV N'aSPhV 'yLY NKYM VL'a YD'yThY QUr'yV VL'a-DMV.     And -- in my halting they have rejoiced, And have been gathered together, Gathered against me were the smiters, And I have not known, They have rent, and they have not ceased;     et in infirmitate mea laetabantur et congregabantur collecti sunt adversum me percutientes et nesciebam
 
16.    Like the profane mockers in feasts, they gnashed their teeth at me.     With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.     בחנפי  לעגי  מעוג 
חרק  עלי  שנימו׃
    BChNPhY L'yGY M'yVG ChUrQ 'yLY ShNYMV.     With profane ones, mockers in feasts, Gnashing against me their teeth.     scindentes et non tacentes in simulatione verborum fictorum frendebant contra me dentibus suis
 
17.    Lord, how long will you look on? Rescue my soul from their destruction, my precious life from the lions.     Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions.     אדני  כמה  תראה 
השיבה  נפשי  משאיהם
מכפירים  יחידתי׃

18.    I will give you thanks in the great assembly. I will praise you among many people.     I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people.     אודך  בקהל  רב  בעם 
עצום  אהללך׃
    'aVDK BQHL UrB B'yM 'yTShVM 'aHLLK.     I thank Thee in a great assembly, Among a mighty people I praise Thee.     confitebor tibi in ecclesia grandi in populo forti laudabo te
 
19.    Don't let those who are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me; neither let those who hate me without a cause wink their eyes.     Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.     אל־ישמחו־לי  איבי 
שקר  שנאי  חנם
יקרצו־עין׃
    'aL-YShMChV-LY 'aYBY ShQUr ShN'aY ChNM YQUrTShV-'yYN.     Mine enemies rejoice not over me with falsehood, Those hating me without cause wink the eye.     non laetentur super me inimici mei mendaces odientes me frustra coniventes oculo
 
20.    For they don't speak peace, but they devise deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land.     For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.     כי  לא  שלום  ידברו 
ועל  רגעי־ארץ  דברי
מרמות  יחשבון׃
    KY L'a ShLVM YDBUrV V'yL UrG'yY-'aUrTSh DBUrY MUrMVTh YChShBVN.     For they speak not peace, And against the quiet of the land, Deceitful words they devise,     non enim pacem loquuntur sed in rapina terrae verba fraudulenta concinnant
 
21.    Yes, they opened their mouth wide against me. They said, "Aha! Aha! Our eye has seen it!"     Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.     וירחיבו  עלי  פיהם 
אמרו  האח  האח  ראתה
עינינו׃
    VYUrChYBV 'yLY PhYHM 'aMUrV H'aCh H'aCh Ur'aThH 'yYNYNV.     And they enlarge against me their mouth, They said, `Aha, aha, our eye hath seen.`     et dilataverunt super me os suum dixerunt va va vidit oculus noster
 
22.    You have seen it, Yahweh. Don't keep silent. Lord, don't be far from me.     This thou hast seen, O LORD: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me.     ראיתה  יהוה 
אל־תחרש  אדני
אל־תרחק  ממני׃
    Ur'aYThH YHVH 'aL-ThChUrSh 'aDNY 'aL-ThUrChQ MMNY.     Thou hast seen, O Jehovah, Be not silent, O Lord -- be not far from me,     vidisti Domine ne taceas Domine ne elongeris a me
 
23.    Wake up! Rise up to defend me, my God! My Lord, contend for me!     Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord.     העירה  והקיצה 
למשפטי  אלהי  ואדני
לריבי׃
    H'yYUrH VHQYTShH LMShPhTY 'aLHY V'aDNY LUrYBY.     Stir up, and wake to my judgment, My God, and my Lord, to my plea.     consurge et evigila in iudicium meum Deus meus et Domine in causam meam
 
24.    Vindicate me, Yahweh my God, according to your righteousness. Don't let them gloat over me.     Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me.     שפטני  כצדקך  יהוה 
אלהי
ואל־ישמחו־לי׃
    ShPhTNY KTShDQK YHVH 'aLHY V'aL-YShMChV-LY.     Judge me according to Thy righteousness, O Jehovah my God, And they do not rejoice over me.     iudica me secundum iustitiam meam Domine Deus meus et ne insultent mihi
 
25.    Don't let them say in their heart, "Aha! That's the way we want it!" Don't let them say, "We have swallowed him up!"     Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up.     אל־יאמרו  בלבם  האח 
נפשנו  אל־יאמרו
בלענוהו׃
    'aL-Y'aMUrV BLBM H'aCh NPhShNV 'aL-Y'aMUrV BL'yNVHV.     They do not say in their heart, `Aha, our desire.` They do not say, `We swallowed him up.`     ne dicant in corde suo va va va animae nostrae ne dicant absorbuimus eum
 
26.    Let them be disappointed and confounded together who rejoice at my calamity. Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify themselves against me.     Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.     יבשו  ויחפרו  יחדו 
שמחי  רעתי
ילבשו־בשת  וכלמה
המגדילים  עלי׃
    YBShV VYChPhUrV YChDV ShMChY Ur'yThY YLBShV-BShTh VKLMH HMGDYLYM 'yLY.     They are ashamed and confounded together, Who are rejoicing at my evil. They put on shame and confusion, Who are magnifying themselves against me.     confundantur et revereantur pariter qui laetantur in adflictione mea induantur confusione et verecundia qui magnificantur super me
 
27.    Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause. Yes, let them say continually, "Yahweh be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of his servant!"     Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.     ירנו  וישמחו  חפצי 
צדקי  ויאמרו  תמיד
יגדל  יהוה  החפץ
שלום  עבדו׃
    YUrNV VYShMChV ChPhTShY TShDQY VY'aMUrV ThMYD YGDL YHVH HChPhTSh ShLVM 'yBDV.     They sing and rejoice, who are desiring my righteousness, And they say continually, `Jehovah is magnified, Who is desiring the peace of His servant.`     laudent et laetentur qui volunt iustitiam meam et dicant semper magnificetur Dominus qui vult pacem servi sui
 
28.    My tongue shall talk about your righteousness and about your praise all day long.     And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.     ולשוני  תהגה  צדקך 
כל־היום  תהלתך׃
    VLShVNY ThHGH TShDQK KL-HYVM ThHLThK.     And my tongue uttereth Thy righteousness, All the day Thy praise!     et lingua mea meditabitur iustitiam tuam tota die laudem tuam
