1.    My son, pay attention to my wisdom. Turn your ear to my understanding:     My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:     בני  לחכמתי  הקשיבה 
לתבונתי  הט־אזנך׃
    BNY LChKMThY HQShYBH LThBVNThY HT-'aZNK.     My son! to my wisdom give attention, To mine understanding incline thine ear,     fili mi adtende sapientiam meam et prudentiae meae inclina aurem tuam
 
2.    that you may maintain discretion, that your lips may preserve knowledge.     That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.     לשמר  מזמות  ודעת 
שפתיך  ינצרו׃
    LShMUr MZMVTh VD'yTh ShPhThYK YNTShUrV.     To observe thoughtfulness, And knowledge do thy lips keep.     ut custodias cogitationes et disciplinam labia tua conservent
 
3.    For the lips of an adulteress drip honey. Her mouth is smoother than oil,     For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:     כי  נפת  תטפנה  שפתי 
זרה  וחלק  משמן
חכה׃
    KY NPhTh ThTPhNH ShPhThY ZUrH VChLQ MShMN ChKH.     For the lips of a strange woman drop honey, And smoother than oil is her mouth,     favus enim stillans labia meretricis et nitidius oleo guttur eius
 
4.    But in the end she is as bitter as wormwood, and as sharp as a two-edged sword.     But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.     ואחריתה  מרה  כלענה 
חדה  כחרב  פיות׃
    V'aChUrYThH MUrH KL'yNH ChDH KChUrB PhYVTh.     And her latter end is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a sword with mouths.     novissima autem illius amara quasi absinthium et acuta quasi gladius biceps
 
5.    Her feet go down to death. Her steps lead straight to Sheol{Sheol is the place of the dead.}.     Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.     רגליה  ירדות  מות 
שאול  צעדיה  יתמכו׃
    UrGLYH YUrDVTh MVTh Sh'aVL TSh'yDYH YThMKV.     Her feet are going down to death, Sheol do her steps take hold of.     pedes eius descendunt in mortem et ad inferos gressus illius penetrant
 
6.    She gives no thought to the way of life. Her ways are crooked, and she doesn't know it.     Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.     ארח  חיים  פן־תפלס 
נעו  מעגלתיה  לא
תדע׃
    'aUrCh ChYYM PhN-ThPhLS N'yV M'yGLThYH L'a ThD'y.     The path of life -- lest thou ponder, Moved have her paths -- thou knowest not.     per semitam vitae non ambulat vagi sunt gressus eius et investigabiles
 
7.    Now therefore, my sons, listen to me. Don't depart from the words of my mouth.     Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.     ועתה  בנים  שמעו־לי 
ואל־תסורו
מאמרי־פי׃
    V'yThH BNYM ShM'yV-LY V'aL-ThSVUrV M'aMUrY-PhY.     And now, ye sons, hearken to me, And turn not from sayings of my mouth.     nunc ergo fili audi me et ne recedas a verbis oris mei
 
8.    Remove your way far from her. Don't come near the door of her house,     Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:     הרחק  מעליה  דרכך 
ואל־תקרב  אל־פתח
ביתה׃
    HUrChQ M'yLYH DUrKK V'aL-ThQUrB 'aL-PhThCh BYThH.     Keep far from off her thy way, And come not near unto the opening of her house,     longe fac ab ea viam tuam et ne adpropinques foribus domus eius
 
9.    lest you give your honor to others, and your years to the cruel one;     Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:     פן־תתן  לאחרים 
הודך  ושנתיך
לאכזרי׃
    PhN-ThThN L'aChUrYM HVDK VShNThYK L'aKZUrY.     Lest thou give to others thy honour, And thy years to the fierce,     ne des alienis honorem tuum et annos tuos crudeli
 
10.    lest strangers feast on your wealth, and your labors enrich another man's house.     Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;     פן־ישבעו  זרים  כחך 
ועצביך  בבית  נכרי׃
    PhN-YShB'yV ZUrYM KChK V'yTShBYK BBYTh NKUrY.     Lest strangers be filled with thy power, And thy labours in the house of a stranger,     ne forte impleantur extranei viribus tuis et labores tui sint in domo aliena
 
11.    You will groan at your latter end, when your flesh and your body are consumed,     And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,     ונהמת  באחריתך 
בכלות  בשרך  ושארך׃
    VNHMTh B'aChUrYThK BKLVTh BShUrK VSh'aUrK.     And thou hast howled in thy latter end, In the consumption of thy flesh and thy food,     et gemas in novissimis quando consumpseris carnes et corpus tuum et dicas
 
12.    and say, "How I have hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;     And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;     ואמרת  איך  שנאתי 
מוסר  ותוכחת  נאץ
לבי׃
    V'aMUrTh 'aYK ShN'aThY MVSUr VThVKChTh N'aTSh LBY.     And hast said, `How have I hated instruction, And reproof hath my heart despised,     cur detestatus sum disciplinam et increpationibus non adquievit cor meum
 
13.    neither have I obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor turned my ear to those who instructed me!     And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!     ולא־שמעתי  בקול 
מורי  ולמלמדי
לא־הטיתי  אזני׃
    VL'a-ShM'yThY BQVL MVUrY VLMLMDY L'a-HTYThY 'aZNY.     And I have not hearkened to the voice of my directors, And to my teachers have not inclined mine ear.     nec audivi vocem docentium me et magistris non inclinavi aurem meam
 
14.    I have come to the brink of utter ruin, in the midst of the gathered assembly."     I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.     כמעט  הייתי  בכל־רע 
בתוך  קהל  ועדה׃
    KM'yT HYYThY BKL-Ur'y BThVK QHL V'yDH.     As a little thing I have been all evil, In the midst of an assembly and a company.     paene fui in omni malo in medio ecclesiae et synagogae
 
15.    Drink water out of your own cistern, running water out of your own well.     Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.     שתה־מים  מבורך 
ונזלים  מתוך  בארך׃
    ShThH-MYM MBVUrK VNZLYM MThVK B'aUrK.     Drink waters out of thine own cistern, Even flowing ones out of thine own well.     bibe aquam de cisterna tua et fluenta putei tui
 
16.    Should your springs overflow in the streets, streams of water in the public squares?     Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.     יפוצו  מעינתיך 
חוצה  ברחבות
פלגי־מים׃
    YPhVTShV M'yYNThYK ChVTShH BUrChBVTh PhLGY-MYM.     Let thy fountains be scattered abroad, In broad places rivulets of waters.     deriventur fontes tui foras et in plateis aquas tuas divide
 
17.    Let them be for yourself alone, not for strangers with you.     Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.     יהיו־לך  לבדך  ואין 
לזרים  אתך׃
    YHYV-LK LBDK V'aYN LZUrYM 'aThK.     Let them be to thee for thyself, And not to strangers with thee.     habeto eas solus nec sint alieni participes tui
 
18.    Let your spring be blessed. Rejoice in the wife of your youth.     Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.     יהי־מקורך  ברוך 
ושמח  מאשת  נעורך׃
    YHY-MQVUrK BUrVK VShMCh M'aShTh N'yVUrK.     Let thy fountain be blessed, And rejoice because of the wife of thy youth,     sit vena tua benedicta et laetare cum muliere adulescentiae tuae
 
19.    A loving doe and a graceful deer-- let her breasts satisfy you at all times. Be captivated always with her love.     Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.     אילת  אהבים 
ויעלת־חן  דדיה
ירוך  בכל־עת
באהבתה  תשגה  תמיד׃
    'aYLTh 'aHBYM VY'yLTh-ChN DDYH YUrVK BKL-'yTh B'aHBThH ThShGH ThMYD.     A hind of loves, and a roe of grace! Let her loves satisfy thee at all times, In her love magnify thyself continually.     cerva carissima et gratissimus hinulus ubera eius inebrient te omni tempore in amore illius delectare iugiter
 
20.    For why should you, my son, be captivated with an adulteress? Why embrace the bosom of another?     And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?     ולמה  תשגה  בני 
בזרה  ותחבק  חק
נכריה׃
    VLMH ThShGH BNY BZUrH VThChBQ ChQ NKUrYH.     And why dost thou magnify thyself, My son, with a stranger? And embrace the bosom of a strange woman?     quare seduceris fili mi ab aliena et foveris sinu alterius
 
21.    For the ways of man are before the eyes of Yahweh. He examines all his paths.     For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.     כי  נכח  עיני  יהוה 
דרכי־איש
וכל־מעגלתיו  מפלס׃
    KY NKCh 'yYNY YHVH DUrKY-'aYSh VKL-M'yGLThYV MPhLS.     For over-against the eyes of Jehovah are the ways of each, And all his paths He is pondering.     respicit Dominus vias hominis et omnes gressus illius considerat
 
22.    The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare him. The cords of his sin hold him firmly.     His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.     עוונותיו  ילכדנו 
את־הרשע  ובחבלי
חטאתו  יתמך׃
    'yVVNVThYV YLKDNV 'aTh-HUrSh'y VBChBLY ChT'aThV YThMK.     His own iniquities do capture the wicked, And with the ropes of his sin he is holden.     iniquitates suae capiunt impium et funibus peccatorum suorum constringitur
 
23.    He will die for lack of instruction. In the greatness of his folly, he will go astray.     He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.     הוא  ימות  באין 
מוסר  וברב  אולתו
ישגה׃
    HV'a YMVTh B'aYN MVSUr VBUrB 'aVLThV YShGH.     He dieth without instruction, And in the abundance of his folly magnifieth himself!     ipse morietur quia non habuit disciplinam et multitudine stultitiae suae decipietur
