1.    Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in justice.     Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment.     הן  לצדק  ימלך־מלך 
ולשרים  למשפט
ישרו׃
    HN LTShDQ YMLK-MLK VLShUrYM LMShPhT YShUrV.     Lo, for righteousness doth a king reign, As to princes, for judgment they rule.     ecce in iustitia regnabit rex et principes in iudicio praeerunt
 
2.    A man shall be as a hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the storm, as streams of water in a dry place, as the shade of a large rock in a weary land.     And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.     והיה־איש 
כמחבא־רוח  וסתר
זרם  כפלגי־מים
בציון  כצל  סלע־כבד
בארץ  עיפה׃
    VHYH-'aYSh KMChB'a-UrVCh VSThUr ZUrM KPhLGY-MYM BTShYVN KTShL SL'y-KBD B'aUrTSh 'yYPhH.     And each hath been as a hiding-place from wind, And as a secret hiding-place from inundation, As rivulets of waters in a dry place, As a shadow of a heavy rock in a weary land.     et erit vir sicut qui absconditur a vento et celat se a tempestate sicut rivi aquarum in siti et umbra petrae prominentis in terra deserta
 
3.    The eyes of those who see will not be dim, and the ears of those who hear will listen.     And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken.     ולא  תשעינה  עיני 
ראים  ואזני  שמעים
תקשבנה׃
    VL'a ThSh'yYNH 'yYNY Ur'aYM V'aZNY ShM'yYM ThQShBNH.     And not dazzled are the eyes of beholders, And the ears of hearers do attend.     non caligabunt oculi videntium et aures audientium diligenter auscultabunt
 
4.    The heart of the rash will understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly.     The heart also of the rash shall understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers shall be ready to speak plainly.     ולבב  נמהרים  יבין 
לדעת  ולשון  עלגים
תמהר  לדבר  צחות׃
    VLBB NMHUrYM YBYN LD'yTh VLShVN 'yLGYM ThMHUr LDBUr TShChVTh.     And the heart of those hastened Understandeth to know, And the tongue of stammerers hasteth to speak clearly.     et cor stultorum intelleget scientiam et lingua balborum velociter loquetur et plane
 
5.    The fool will no longer be called noble, nor the scoundrel be highly respected.     The vile person shall be no more called liberal, nor the churl said to be bountiful.     לא־יקרא  עוד  לנבל 
נדיב  ולכילי  לא
יאמר  שוע׃
    L'a-YQUr'a 'yVD LNBL NDYB VLKYLY L'a Y'aMUr ShV'y.     A fool is no more called `noble,` And to a miser it is not said, `rich;`     non vocabitur ultra is qui insipiens est princeps neque fraudulentus appellabitur maior
 
6.    For the fool will speak folly, and his heart will work iniquity, to practice profanity, and to utter error against Yahweh, To make empty the soul of the hungry, and to cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.     For the vile person will speak villany, and his heart will work iniquity, to practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against the LORD, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.     כי  נבל  נבלה  ידבר 
ולבו  יעשה־און
לעשות  חנף  ולדבר
אל־יהוה  תועה
להריק  נפש  רעב
ומשקה  צמא  יחסיר׃
    KY NBL NBLH YDBUr VLBV Y'yShH-'aVN L'yShVTh ChNPh VLDBUr 'aL-YHVH ThV'yH LHUrYQ NPhSh Ur'yB VMShQH TShM'a YChSYUr.     For a fool speaketh folly, And his heart doth iniquity, to do profanity, And to speak concerning Jehovah error, To empty the soul of the hungry, Yea, drink of the thirsty he causeth to lack.     stultus enim fatua loquetur et cor eius faciet iniquitatem ut perficiat simulationem et loquatur ad Dominum fraudulenter et vacuefaciat animam esurientis et potum sitienti auferat
 
7.    The ways of the scoundrel are evil. He devises wicked devices to destroy the humble with lying words, even when the needy speaks right.     The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.     וכלי  כליו  רעים 
הוא  זמות  יעץ  לחבל
ענוים  באמרי־שקר
ובדבר  אביון  משפט׃
    VKLY KLYV Ur'yYM HV'a ZMVTh Y'yTSh LChBL 'yNVYM B'aMUrY-ShQUr VBDBUr 'aBYVN MShPhT.     And the miser -- his instruments are evil, He hath counselled wicked devices, To corrupt the poor with lying sayings, Even when the needy speaketh justly.     fraudulenti vasa pessima sunt ipse enim cogitationes concinnavit ad perdendos mites in sermone mendacii cum loqueretur pauper iudicium
 
8.    But the noble devises noble things; and he will continue in noble things.     But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand.     ונדיב  נדיבות  יעץ 
והוא  על־נדיבות
יקום׃
    VNDYB NDYBVTh Y'yTSh VHV'a 'yL-NDYBVTh YQVM.     And the noble counselled noble things, And he for noble things riseth up.     princeps vero ea quae digna sunt principe cogitavit et ipse super duces stabit
 
9.    Rise up, you women who are at ease! Hear my voice! You careless daughters, give ear to my speech!     Rise up, ye women that are at ease; hear my voice, ye careless daughters; give ear unto my speech.     נשים  שאננות  קמנה 
שמענה  קולי  בנות
בטחות  האזנה
אמרתי׃
    NShYM Sh'aNNVTh QMNH ShM'yNH QVLY BNVTh BTChVTh H'aZNH 'aMUrThY.     Women, easy ones, rise, hear my voice, Daughters, confident ones, give ear to my saying,     mulieres opulentae surgite et audite vocem meam filiae confidentes percipite auribus eloquium meum
 
10.    For days beyond a year you will be troubled, you careless women; for the vintage shall fail. The harvest won't come.     Many days and years shall ye be troubled, ye careless women: for the vintage shall fail, the gathering shall not come.     ימים  על־שנה 
תרגזנה  בטחות  כי
כלה  בציר  אסף  בלי
יבוא׃
    YMYM 'yL-ShNH ThUrGZNH BTChVTh KY KLH BTShYUr 'aSPh BLY YBV'a.     Days and a year ye are troubled, O confident ones, For consumed hath been harvest, The gathering cometh not.     post dies et annum et vos conturbabimini confidentes consummata est enim vindemia collectio ultra non veniet
 
11.    Tremble, you women who are at ease! Be troubled, you careless ones! Strip yourselves, make yourselves naked, and put sackcloth on your waist.     Tremble, ye women that are at ease; be troubled, ye careless ones: strip you, and make you bare, and gird sackcloth upon your loins.     חרדו  שאננות  רגזה 
בטחות  פשטה  וערה
וחגורה  על־חלצים׃
    ChUrDV Sh'aNNVTh UrGZH BTChVTh PhShTH V'yUrH VChGVUrH 'yL-ChLTShYM.     Tremble ye women, ye easy ones, Be troubled, ye confident ones, Strip and make bare, with a girdle on the loins,     obstupescite opulentae conturbamini confidentes exuite vos et confundimini accingite lumbos vestros
 
12.    Beat your breasts for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine.     They shall lament for the teats, for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine.     על־שדים  ספדים 
על־שדי־חמד  על־גפן
פריה׃
    'yL-ShDYM SPhDYM 'yL-ShDY-ChMD 'yL-GPhN PhUrYH.     For breasts they are lamenting, For fields of desire, for the fruitful vine.     super ubera plangite super regione desiderabili super vinea fertili
 
13.    Thorns and briars will come up on my people's land; yes, on all the houses of joy in the joyous city.     Upon the land of my people shall come up thorns and briers; yea, upon all the houses of joy in the joyous city:     על  אדמת  עמי  קוץ 
שמיר  תעלה  כי
על־כל־בתי  משוש
קריה  עליזה׃
    'yL 'aDMTh 'yMY QVTSh ShMYUr Th'yLH KY 'yL-KL-BThY MShVSh QUrYH 'yLYZH.     Over the ground of my people thorn -- brier goeth up, Surely over all houses of joy of the exulting city,     super humum populi mei spina et vepres ascendent quanto magis super omnes domos gaudii civitatis exultantis
 
14.    For the palace will be forsaken. The populous city will be deserted. The hill and the watchtower will be for dens forever, a delight for wild donkeys, a pasture of flocks;     Because the palaces shall be forsaken; the multitude of the city shall be left; the forts and towers shall be for dens for ever, a joy of wild asses, a pasture of flocks;     כי־ארמון  נטש  המון 
עיר  עזב  עפל  ובחן
היה  בעד  מערות
עד־עולם  משוש
פראים  מרעה  עדרים׃
    KY-'aUrMVN NTSh HMVN 'yYUr 'yZB 'yPhL VBChN HYH B'yD M'yUrVTh 'yD-'yVLM MShVSh PhUr'aYM MUr'yH 'yDUrYM.     Surely the palace hath been left, The multitude of the city forsaken, Fort and watch-tower hath been for dens unto the age, A joy of wild asses -- a pasture of herds;     domus enim dimissa est multitudo urbis relicta est tenebrae et palpatio factae sunt super speluncas usque in aeternum gaudium onagrorum pascua gregum
 
15.    Until the Spirit is poured on us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is considered a forest.     Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest.     עד־יערה  עלינו  רוח 
ממרום  והיה  מדבר
לכרמל  וכרמל  ליער
יחשב׃
    'yD-Y'yUrH 'yLYNV UrVCh MMUrVM VHYH MDBUr LKUrML VKUrML LY'yUr YChShB.     Till emptied out on us is the Spirit from on high, And a wilderness hath become a fruitful field, And the fruitful field for a forest is reckoned.     donec effundatur super nos spiritus de excelso et erit desertum in Chermel et Chermel in saltum reputabitur
 
16.    Then justice will dwell in the wilderness; and righteousness will remain in the fruitful field.     Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field.     ושכן  במדבר  משפט 
וצדקה  בכרמל  תשב׃
    VShKN BMDBUr MShPhT VTShDQH BKUrML ThShB.     And dwelt in the wilderness hath judgment, And righteousness in the fruitful field remaineth.     et habitabit in solitudine iudicium et iustitia in Chermel sedebit
 
17.    The work of righteousness will be peace; and the effect of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever.     And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.     והיה  מעשה  הצדקה 
שלום  ועבדת  הצדקה
השקט  ובטח
עד־עולם׃
    VHYH M'yShH HTShDQH ShLVM V'yBDTh HTShDQH HShQT VBTCh 'yD-'yVLM.     And a work of the righteousness hath been peace, And a service of the righteousness -- Keeping quiet and confidence unto the age.     et erit opus iustitiae pax et cultus iustitiae silentium et securitas usque in sempiternum
 
18.    My people will abide in a peaceful habitation, in safe dwellings, and in quiet resting places.     And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;     וישב  עמי  בנוה 
שלום  ובמשכנות
מבטחים  ובמנוחת
שאננות׃
    VYShB 'yMY BNVH ShLVM VBMShKNVTh MBTChYM VBMNVChTh Sh'aNNVTh.     And dwelt hath My people in a peaceful habitation, And in stedfast tabernacles, And in quiet resting-places.     et sedebit populus meus in pulchritudine pacis et in tabernaculis fiduciae et in requie opulenta
 
19.    Though hail flattens the forest, and the city is leveled completely.     When it shall hail, coming down on the forest; and the city shall be low in a low place.     וברד  ברדת  היער 
ובשפלה  תשפל  העיר׃
    VBUrD BUrDTh HY'yUr VBShPhLH ThShPhL H'yYUr.     And it hath hailed in the going down of the forest, And in the valley is the city low.     grando autem in descensione saltus et humilitate humiliabitur civitas
 
20.    Blessed are you who sow beside all waters, who send out the feet of the ox and the donkey.     Blessed are ye that sow beside all waters, that send forth thither the feet of the ox and the ass.     אשריכם  זרעי 
על־כל־מים  משלחי
רגל־השור  והחמור׃
