1.    It was now two days before the feast of the Passover and the unleavened bread, and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might seize him by deception, and kill him.     After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.     ην δε το πασχα και τα αζυμα μετα δυο ημερας και εζητουν οι αρχιερεις και οι γραμματεις πως αυτον εν δολω κρατησαντες αποκτεινωσιν     And the passover and the unleavened food were after two days, and the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how, by guile, having taken hold of him, they might kill him;     erat autem pascha et azyma post biduum et quaerebant summi sacerdotes et scribae quomodo eum dolo tenerent et occiderent
 
2.    For they said, "Not during the feast, because there might be a riot of the people."     But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.     ελεγον γαρ μη εν τη εορτη μηποτε εσται θορυβοσ του λαου     and they said, `Not in the feast, lest there shall be a tumult of the people.`     dicebant enim non in die festo ne forte tumultus fieret populi
 
3.    While he was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster jar of ointment of pure nard--very costly. She broke the jar, and poured it over his head.     And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.     και οντος αυτου εν βηθανια εν τη οικια σιμωνος του λεπρου κατακειμενου αυτου ηλθεν γυνη εχουσα αλαβαστρον μυρου ναρδου πιστικης πολυτελους συντριψασα την αλαβαστρον κατεχεεν αυτου της κεφαλης     And he, being in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, at his reclining (at meat), there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment, of spikenard, very precious, and having broken the alabaster box, did pour on his head;     et cum esset Bethaniae in domo Simonis leprosi et recumberet venit mulier habens alabastrum unguenti nardi spicati pretiosi et fracto alabastro effudit super caput eius
 
4.    But there were some who were indignant among themselves, saying, "Why has this ointment been wasted?     And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?     ησαν δε τινες αγανακτουντες προς εαυτους  εις τι η απωλεια αυτη του μυρου γεγονεν     and there were certain much displeased within themselves, and saying, `For what hath this waste of the ointment been made?     erant autem quidam indigne ferentes intra semet ipsos et dicentes ut quid perditio ista unguenti facta est
 
5.    For this might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii,{300 denarii was about a years wages for an agricultural laborer.} and given to the poor." They grumbled against her.     For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.     ηδυνατο γαρ τουτο το μυρον πραθηναι επανω δηναριων τριακοσιων και δοθηναι τοις πτωχοις και ενεβριμωντο αυτη     for this could have been sold for more than three hundred denaries, and given to the poor;` and they were murmuring at her.     poterat enim unguentum istud veniri plus quam trecentis denariis et dari pauperibus et fremebant in eam
 
6.    But Jesus said, "Leave her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for me.     And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.     ο δε ιησους ειπεν αφετε αυτην τι αυτη κοπους παρεχετε καλον εργον ηργασατο εν εμοι     And Jesus said, `Let her alone; why are ye giving her trouble? a good work she wrought on me;     Iesus autem dixit sinite eam quid illi molesti estis bonum opus operata est in me
 
7.    For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want to, you can do them good; but you will not always have me.     For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.     παντοτε γαρ τους πτωχους εχετε μεθ εαυτων και οταν θελητε δυνασθε αυτοισ ευ ποιησαι εμε δε ου παντοτε εχετε     for the poor always ye have with you, and whenever ye may will ye are able to do them good, but me ye have not always;     semper enim pauperes habetis vobiscum et cum volueritis potestis illis benefacere me autem non semper habetis
 
8.    She has done what she could. She has anointed my body beforehand for the burying.     She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.     ο εσχεν  εποιησεν προελαβεν μυρισαι το σωμα μου εις τον ενταφιασμον     what she could she did, she anticipated to anoint my body for the embalming.     quod habuit haec fecit praevenit unguere corpus meum in sepulturam
 
9.    Most certainly I tell you, wherever this Good News may be preached throughout the whole world, that which this woman has done will also be spoken of for a memorial of her."     Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.     αμην δε λεγω υμιν οπου εαν κηρυχθη το ευαγγελιον εις ολον τον κοσμον και ο εποιησεν αυτη λαληθησεται εις μνημοσυνον αυτης     Verily I say to you, wherever this good news may be proclaimed in the whole world, what also this woman did shall be spoken of -- for a memorial of her.`     amen dico vobis ubicumque praedicatum fuerit evangelium istud in universum mundum et quod fecit haec narrabitur in memoriam eius
 
10.    Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went away to the chief priests, that he might deliver him to them.     And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, to betray him unto them.     και ιουδας ισκαριωθ ο εις των δωδεκα απηλθεν προς τους αρχιερεις ινα αυτον παραδοι αυτοις     And Judas the Iscariot, one of the twelve, went away unto the chief priests that he might deliver him up to them,     et Iudas Scariotis unus de duodecim abiit ad summos sacerdotes ut proderet eum illis
 
11.    They, when they heard it, were glad, and promised to give him money. He sought how he might conveniently deliver him.     And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him.     οι δε ακουσαντες εχαρησαν και επηγγειλαντο αυτω αργυριον δουναι και εζητει πως αυτον ευκαιρωσ παραδοι     and having heard, they were glad, and promised to give him money, and he was seeking how, conveniently, he might deliver him up.     qui audientes gavisi sunt et promiserunt ei pecuniam se daturos et quaerebat quomodo illum oportune traderet
 
12.    On the first day of unleavened bread, when they sacrificed the Passover, his disciples asked him, "Where do you want us to go and make ready that you may eat the Passover?"     And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?     και τη πρωτη ημερα των αζυμων οτε το πασχα εθυον λεγουσιν αυτω οι μαθηται αυτου που θελεις απελθοντες ετοιμασωμεν ινα φαγης το πασχα     And the first day of the unleavened food, when they were killing the passover, his disciples say to him, `Where wilt thou, that, having gone, we may prepare, that thou mayest eat the passover?`     et primo die azymorum quando pascha immolabant dicunt ei discipuli quo vis eamus et paremus tibi ut manduces pascha
 
13.    He sent two of his disciples, and said to them, "Go into the city, and there you will meet a man carrying a pitcher of water. Follow him,     And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.     και αποστελλει δυο των μαθητων αυτου και λεγει αυτοις υπαγετε εις την πολιν και απαντησει υμιν ανθρωπος κεραμιον υδατος βασταζων ακολουθησατε αυτω     And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith to them, `Go ye away to the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water, follow him;     et mittit duos ex discipulis suis et dicit eis ite in civitatem et occurret vobis homo laguenam aquae baiulans sequimini eum
 
14.    and wherever he enters in, tell the master of the house, 'The Teacher says, "Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?"'     And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?     και οπου εαν εισελθη ειπατε τω οικοδεσποτη οτι ο διδασκαλος λεγει που εστιν το καταλυμα μου οπου το πασχα μετα των μαθητων μου φαγω     and wherever he may go in, say ye to the master of the house -- The Teacher saith, Where is the guest-chamber, where the passover, with my disciples, I may eat?     et quocumque introierit dicite domino domus quia magister dicit ubi est refectio mea ubi pascha cum discipulis meis manducem
 
15.    He will himself show you a large upper room furnished and ready. Make ready for us there."     And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.     και αυτος υμιν δειξει αναγαιον μεγα εστρωμενον ετοιμον και εκει ετοιμασατε ημιν     and he will shew you a large upper room, furnished, prepared -- there make ready for us.`     et ipse vobis demonstrabit cenaculum grande stratum et illic parate nobis
 
16.    His disciples went out, and came into the city, and found things as he had said to them, and they prepared the Passover.     And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.     και εξηλθον οι μαθηται και ηλθον εις την πολιν και ευρον καθως ειπεν αυτοις και ητοιμασαν το πασχα     And his disciples went forth, and came to the city, and found as he said to them, and they made ready the passover.     et abierunt discipuli eius et venerunt in civitatem et invenerunt sicut dixerat illis et praeparaverunt pascha
 
17.    When it was evening he came with the twelve.     And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.     και οψιας γενομενης ερχεται μετα των δωδεκα     And evening having come, he cometh with the twelve,     vespere autem facto venit cum duodecim
 
18.    As they sat and were eating, Jesus said, "Most certainly I tell you, one of you will betray me--he who eats with me."     And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me.     και ανακειμενων αυτων και εσθιοντων ο ιησους ειπεν αμην λεγω υμιν οτι εις εξ υμων παραδωσει με ο εσθιων μετ εμου     and as they are reclining, and eating, Jesus said, `Verily I say to you -- one of you, who is eating with me -- shall deliver me up.`     et discumbentibus eis et manducantibus ait Iesus amen dico vobis quia unus ex vobis me tradet qui manducat mecum
 
19.    They began to be sorrowful, and to ask him one by one, "Surely not I?" And another said, "Surely not I?"     And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?     ηρξαντο λυπεισθαι και λεγειν αυτω εις κατα εις   μητι εγω     And they began to be sorrowful, and to say to him, one by one, `Is it I?` and another, `Is it I?`     at illi coeperunt contristari et dicere ei singillatim numquid ego
 
20.    He answered them, "It is one of the twelve, he who dips with me in the dish.     And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish.     ο δε ειπεν αυτοις εις των δωδεκα ο εμβαπτομενος μετ εμου εις το τρυβλιον     And he answering said to them, `One of the twelve who is dipping with me in the dish;     qui ait illis unus ex duodecim qui intinguit mecum in catino
 
21.    For the Son of Man goes, even as it is written about him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would be better for that man if he had not been born."     The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.     οτι ο μεν υιος του ανθρωπου υπαγει καθως γεγραπται περι αυτου ουαι δε τω ανθρωπω εκεινω δι ου ο υιος του ανθρωπου παραδιδοται καλον αυτω ει ουκ εγεννηθη ο ανθρωπος εκεινος     the Son of Man doth indeed go, as it hath been written concerning him, but wo to that man through whom the Son of Man is delivered up; good were it to him if that man had not been born.`     et Filius quidem hominis vadit sicut scriptum est de eo vae autem homini illi per quem Filius hominis traditur bonum ei si non esset natus homo ille
 
22.    As they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had blessed, he broke it, and gave to them, and said, "Take, eat. This is my body."     And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.     και εσθιοντων αυτων λαβων  αρτον ευλογησας εκλασεν και εδωκεν αυτοις και ειπεν λαβετε τουτο εστιν το σωμα μου     And as they are eating, Jesus having taken bread, having blessed, brake, and gave to them, and said, `Take, eat; this is my body.`     et manducantibus illis accepit Iesus panem et benedicens fregit et dedit eis et ait sumite hoc est corpus meum
 
23.    He took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave to them. They all drank of it.     And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.     και λαβων ποτηριον ευχαριστησας εδωκεν αυτοις και επιον εξ αυτου παντες     And having taken the cup, having given thanks, he gave to them, and they drank of it -- all;     et accepto calice gratias agens dedit eis et biberunt ex illo omnes
 
24.    He said to them, "This is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many.     And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.     και ειπεν αυτοις τουτο εστιν το αιμα μου της διαθηκης το εκχυννομενον υπερ πολλων     and he said to them, `This is my blood of the new covenant, which for many is being poured out;     et ait illis hic est sanguis meus novi testamenti qui pro multis effunditur
 
25.    Most certainly I tell you, I will no more drink of the fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it anew in the Kingdom of God."     Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.     αμην λεγω υμιν οτι ουκετι ου μη πιω εκ του γενηματοσ της αμπελου εως της ημερας εκεινης οταν αυτο πινω καινον εν τη βασιλεια του θεου     verily I say to you, that no more may I drink of the produce of the vine till that day when I may drink it new in the reign of God.`     amen dico vobis quod iam non bibam de genimine vitis usque in diem illum cum illud bibam novum in regno Dei
 
26.    When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.     And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.     και υμνησαντες εξηλθον εις το ορος των ελαιων     And having sung an hymn, they went forth to the mount of the Olives,     et hymno dicto exierunt in montem Olivarum
 
27.    Jesus said to them, "All of you will be made to stumble because of me tonight, for it is written, 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.'{Zechariah 13:7}     And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.     και λεγει αυτοις ο ιησους οτι παντες σκανδαλισθησεσθε    οτι γεγραπται παταξω τον ποιμενα και τα προβατα διασκορπισθησονται     and Jesus saith to them -- `All ye shall be stumbled at me this night, because it hath been written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered abroad,     et ait eis Iesus omnes scandalizabimini in nocte ista quia scriptum est percutiam pastorem et dispergentur oves
 
28.    However, after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee."     But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.     αλλα μετα το εγερθηναι με προαξω υμας εις την γαλιλαιαν     but after my having risen I will go before you to Galilee.`     sed posteaquam resurrexero praecedam vos in Galilaeam
 
29.    But Peter said to him, "Although all will be offended, yet I will not."     But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I.     ο δε πετρος εφη αυτω ει και παντες σκανδαλισθησονται αλλ ουκ εγω     And Peter said to him, `And if all shall be stumbled, yet not I;`     Petrus autem ait ei et si omnes scandalizati fuerint sed non ego
 
30.    Jesus said to him, "Most certainly I tell you, that you today, even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times."     And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.     και λεγει αυτω ο ιησους αμην λεγω σοι οτι συ σημερον ταυτη τη νυκτι πριν η δις αλεκτορα φωνησαι τρις με απαρνηση     And Jesus said to him, `Verily I say to thee, that to-day, this night, before a cock shall crow twice, thrice thou shalt deny me.`     et ait illi Iesus amen dico tibi quia tu hodie in nocte hac priusquam bis gallus vocem dederit ter me es negaturus
 
31.    But he spoke all the more, "If I must die with you, I will not deny you." They all said the same thing.     But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.     ο δε εκπερισσωσ ελαλει   εαν δεη με συναποθανειν σοι ου μη σε απαρνησομαι ωσαυτως δε και παντες ελεγον     And he spake the more vehemently, `If it may be necessary for me to die with thee -- I will in nowise deny thee;` and in like manner also said they all.     at ille amplius loquebatur et si oportuerit me simul conmori tibi non te negabo similiter autem et omnes dicebant
 
32.    They came to a place which was named Gethsemane. He said to his disciples, "Sit here, while I pray."     And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray.     και ερχονται εις χωριον ου το ονομα γεθσημανι και λεγει τοις μαθηταις αυτου καθισατε ωδε εως προσευξωμαι     And they come to a spot, the name of which is Gethsemane, and he saith to his disciples, `Sit ye here till I may pray;`     et veniunt in praedium cui nomen Gethsemani et ait discipulis suis sedete hic donec orem
 
33.    He took with him Peter, James, and John, and began to be greatly troubled and distressed.     And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;     και παραλαμβανει τον πετρον και [τον] ιακωβον και [τον] ιωαννην μετ αυτου και ηρξατο εκθαμβεισθαι και αδημονειν     and he taketh Peter, and James, and John with him, and began to be amazed, and to be very heavy,     et adsumit Petrum et Iacobum et Iohannem secum et coepit pavere et taedere
 
34.    He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here, and watch."     And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.     και λεγει αυτοις περιλυπος εστιν η ψυχη μου εως θανατου μεινατε ωδε και γρηγορειτε     and he saith to them, `Exceeding sorrowful is my soul -- to death; remain here, and watch.`     et ait illis tristis est anima mea usque ad mortem sustinete hic et vigilate
 
35.    He went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him.     And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.     και προελθων μικρον επιπτεν επι της γης και προσηυχετο ινα ει δυνατον εστιν παρελθη απ αυτου η ωρα     And having gone forward a little, he fell upon the earth, and was praying, that, if it be possible the hour may pass from him,     et cum processisset paululum procidit super terram et orabat ut si fieri posset transiret ab eo hora
 
36.    He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Please remove this cup from me. However, not what I desire, but what you desire."     And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.     και ελεγεν αββα ο πατηρ παντα δυνατα σοι παρενεγκε το ποτηριον τουτο απ εμου αλλ ου τι εγω θελω αλλα τι συ     and he said, `Abba, Father; all things are possible to Thee; make this cup pass from me; but, not what I will, but what Thou.`     et dixit Abba Pater omnia possibilia tibi sunt transfer calicem hunc a me sed non quod ego volo sed quod tu
 
37.    He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "Simon, are you sleeping? Couldn't you watch one hour?     And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?     και ερχεται και ευρισκει αυτους καθευδοντας και λεγει τω πετρω σιμων καθευδεις ουκ ισχυσας μιαν ωραν γρηγορησαι     And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith to Peter, `Simon, thou dost sleep! thou wast not able to watch one hour!     et venit et invenit eos dormientes et ait Petro Simon dormis non potuisti una hora vigilare
 
38.    Watch and pray, that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."     Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.     γρηγορειτε και προσευχεσθε ινα μη ελθητε εις πειρασμον το μεν πνευμα προθυμον η δε σαρξ ασθενης     Watch ye and pray, that ye may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is forward, but the flesh weak.`     vigilate et orate ut non intretis in temptationem spiritus quidem promptus caro vero infirma
 
39.    Again he went away, and prayed, saying the same words.     And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.     και παλιν απελθων προσηυξατο τον αυτον λογον ειπων     And again having gone away, he prayed, the same word saying;     et iterum abiens oravit eundem sermonem dicens
 
40.    Again he returned, and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy, and they didn't know what to answer him.     And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him.     και παλιν ελθων ευρεν αυτους καθευδοντας ησαν γαρ αυτων οι οφθαλμοι καταβαρυνομενοι  και ουκ ηδεισαν τι αποκριθωσιν αυτω     and having returned, he found them again sleeping, for their eyes were heavy, and they had not known what they might answer him.     et reversus denuo invenit eos dormientes erant enim oculi illorum ingravati et ignorabant quid responderent ei
 
41.    He came the third time, and said to them, "Sleep on now, and take your rest. It is enough. The hour has come. Behold, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.     And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.     και ερχεται το τριτον και λεγει αυτοις καθευδετε το λοιπον και αναπαυεσθε απεχει ηλθεν η ωρα ιδου παραδιδοται ο υιος του ανθρωπου εις τας χειρας των αμαρτωλων     And he cometh the third time, and saith to them, `Sleep on henceforth, and rest -- it is over; the hour did come; lo, the Son of Man is delivered up to the hands of the sinful;     et venit tertio et ait illis dormite iam et requiescite sufficit venit hora ecce traditur Filius hominis in manus peccatorum
 
42.    Arise, let us be going. Behold, he who betrays me is at hand."     Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand.     εγειρεσθε αγωμεν ιδου ο παραδιδους με ηγγικεν     rise, we may go, lo, he who is delivering me up hath come nigh.`     surgite eamus ecce qui me tradit prope est
 
43.    Immediately, while he was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, came--and with him a multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders.     And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.     και ευθυσ ετι αυτου λαλουντος παραγινεται ιουδας εις των δωδεκα και μετ αυτου οχλος μετα μαχαιρων και ξυλων παρα των αρχιερεων και των γραμματεων και των πρεσβυτερων     And immediately -- while he is yet speaking -- cometh near Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude, with swords and sticks, from the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders;     et adhuc eo loquente venit Iudas Scarioth unus ex duodecim et cum illo turba cum gladiis et lignis a summis sacerdotibus et a scribis et a senioribus
 
44.    Now he who betrayed him had given them a sign, saying, "Whoever I will kiss, that is he. Seize him, and lead him away safely."     And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.     δεδωκει δε ο παραδιδους αυτον συσσημον αυτοις λεγων ον αν φιλησω αυτος εστιν κρατησατε αυτον και απαγετε ασφαλως     and he who is delivering him up had given a token to them, saying, `Whomsoever I shall kiss, he it is, lay hold on him, and lead him away safely,`     dederat autem traditor eius signum eis dicens quemcumque osculatus fuero ipse est tenete eum et ducite
 
45.    When he had come, immediately he came to him, and said, "Rabbi! Rabbi!" and kissed him.     And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.     και ελθων ευθυσ προσελθων αυτω λεγει  ραββι και κατεφιλησεν αυτον     and having come, immediately, having gone near him, he saith, `Rabbi, Rabbi,` and kissed him.     et cum venisset statim accedens ad eum ait rabbi et osculatus est eum
 
46.    They laid their hands on him, and seized him.     And they laid their hands on him, and took him.     οι δε επεβαλον  τας χειρας αυτω και εκρατησαν αυτον     And they laid on him their hands, and kept hold on him;     at illi manus iniecerunt in eum et tenuerunt eum
 
47.    But a certain one of those who stood by drew his sword, and struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.     And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.     εις δε [τισ] των παρεστηκοτων σπασαμενος την μαχαιραν επαισεν τον δουλον του αρχιερεως και αφειλεν αυτου το ωταριον     and a certain one of those standing by, having drawn the sword, struck the servant of the chief priest, and took off his ear.     unus autem quidam de circumstantibus educens gladium percussit servum summi sacerdotis et amputavit illi auriculam
 
48.    Jesus answered them, "Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to seize me?     And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me?     και αποκριθεις ο ιησους ειπεν αυτοις ως επι ληστην εξηλθατε μετα μαχαιρων και ξυλων συλλαβειν με     And Jesus answering said to them, `As against a robber ye came out, with swords and sticks, to take me!     et respondens Iesus ait illis tamquam ad latronem existis cum gladiis et lignis conprehendere me
 
49.    I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and you didn't arrest me. But this is so that the Scriptures might be fulfilled."     I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.     καθ ημεραν ημην προς υμας εν τω ιερω διδασκων και ουκ εκρατησατε με αλλ ινα πληρωθωσιν αι γραφαι     daily I was with you in the temple teaching, and ye did not lay hold on me -- but that the Writings may be fulfilled.`     cotidie eram apud vos in templo docens et non me tenuistis sed ut adimpleantur scripturae
 
50.    They all left him, and fled.     And they all forsook him, and fled.     και αφεντες αυτον εφυγον παντεσ     And having left him they all fled;     tunc discipuli eius relinquentes eum omnes fugerunt
 
51.    A certain young man followed him, having a linen cloth thrown around himself, over his naked body. The young men grabbed him,     And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him:     και  νεανισκος τισ συνηκολουθει αυτω περιβεβλημενος σινδονα επι γυμνου και κρατουσιν αυτον     and a certain young man was following him, having put a linen cloth about his naked body, and the young men lay hold on him,     adulescens autem quidam sequebatur illum amictus sindone super nudo et tenuerunt eum
 
52.    but he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.     And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.     ο δε καταλιπων την σινδονα γυμνος εφυγεν     and he, having left the linen cloth, did flee from them naked.     at ille reiecta sindone nudus profugit ab eis
 
53.    They led Jesus away to the high priest. All the chief priests, the elders, and the scribes came together with him.     And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.     και απηγαγον τον ιησουν προς τον αρχιερεα και συνερχονται παντες οι αρχιερεις και οι πρεσβυτεροι και οι γραμματεις     And they led away Jesus unto the chief priest, and come together to him do all the chief priests, and the elders, and the scribes;     et adduxerunt Iesum ad summum sacerdotem et conveniunt omnes sacerdotes et scribae et seniores
 
54.    Peter had followed him from a distance, until he came into the court of the high priest. He was sitting with the officers, and warming himself in the light of the fire.     And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.     και ο πετρος απο μακροθεν ηκολουθησεν αυτω εως εσω εις την αυλην του αρχιερεως και ην συγκαθημενος μετα των υπηρετων και θερμαινομενος προς το φως     and Peter afar off did follow him, to the inside of the hall of the chief priest, and he was sitting with the officers, and warming himself near the fire.     Petrus autem a longe secutus est eum usque intro in atrium summi sacerdotis et sedebat cum ministris et calefaciebat se ad ignem
 
55.    Now the chief priests and the whole council sought witnesses against Jesus to put him to death, and found none.     And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.     οι δε αρχιερεις και ολον το συνεδριον εζητουν κατα του ιησου μαρτυριαν εις το θανατωσαι αυτον και ουχ ηυρισκον     And the chief priests and all the sanhedrim were seeking against Jesus testimony -- to put him to death, and they were not finding,     summi vero sacerdotes et omne concilium quaerebant adversum Iesum testimonium ut eum morti traderent nec inveniebant
 
56.    For many gave false testimony against him, and their testimony didn't agree with each other.     For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.     πολλοι γαρ εψευδομαρτυρουν κατ αυτου και ισαι αι μαρτυριαι ουκ ησαν     for many were bearing false testimony against him, and their testimonies were not alike.     multi enim testimonium falsum dicebant adversus eum et convenientia testimonia non erant
 
57.    Some stood up, and gave false testimony against him, saying,     And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,     και τινες ανασταντες εψευδομαρτυρουν κατ αυτου λεγοντες     And certain having risen up, were bearing false testimony against him, saying --     et quidam surgentes falsum testimonium ferebant adversus eum dicentes
 
58.    "We heard him say, 'I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.'"     We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.     οτι ημεις ηκουσαμεν αυτου λεγοντος οτι εγω καταλυσω τον ναον τουτον τον χειροποιητον και δια τριων ημερων αλλον αχειροποιητον οικοδομησω     `We heard him saying -- I will throw down this sanctuary made with hands, and by three days, another made without hands I will build;`     quoniam nos audivimus eum dicentem ego dissolvam templum hoc manufactum et per triduum aliud non manufactum aedificabo
 
59.    Even so, their testimony did not agree.     But neither so did their witness agree together.     και ουδε ουτως ιση ην η μαρτυρια αυτων     and neither so was their testimony alike.     et non erat conveniens testimonium illorum
 
60.    The high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, "Have you no answer? What is it which these testify against you?"     And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?     και αναστας ο αρχιερευς εις μεσον επηρωτησεν τον ιησουν λεγων ουκ αποκρινη ουδεν τι ουτοι σου καταμαρτυρουσιν     And the chief priest, having risen up in the midst, questioned Jesus, saying, `Thou dost not answer anything! what do these testify against thee?`     et exsurgens summus sacerdos in medium interrogavit Iesum dicens non respondes quicquam ad ea quae tibi obiciuntur ab his
 
61.    But he stayed quiet, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?"     But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?     ο δε εσιωπα και ουκ απεκρινατο ουδεν παλιν ο αρχιερευς επηρωτα αυτον και λεγει αυτω συ ει ο χριστος ο υιος του ευλογητου     and he was keeping silent, and did not answer anything. Again the chief priest was questioning him, and saith to him, `Art thou the Christ -- the Son of the Blessed?`     ille autem tacebat et nihil respondit rursum summus sacerdos interrogabat eum et dicit ei tu es Christus Filius Benedicti
 
62.    Jesus said, "I am. You will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of the sky."     And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.     ο δε ιησους ειπεν εγω ειμι και οψεσθε τον υιον του ανθρωπου εκ δεξιων καθημενον της δυναμεως και ερχομενον μετα των νεφελων του ουρανου     and Jesus said, `I am; and ye shall see the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of the power, and coming with the clouds, of the heaven.`     Iesus autem dixit illi ego sum et videbitis Filium hominis a dextris sedentem Virtutis et venientem cum nubibus caeli
 
63.    The high priest tore his clothes, and said, "What further need have we of witnesses?     Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?     ο δε αρχιερευς διαρρηξας τους χιτωνας αυτου λεγει τι ετι χρειαν εχομεν μαρτυρων     And the chief priest, having rent his garments, saith, `What need have we yet of witnesses?     summus autem sacerdos scindens vestimenta sua ait quid adhuc desideramus testes
 
64.    You have heard the blasphemy! What do you think?" They all condemned him to be worthy of death.     Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.     ηκουσατε της βλασφημιας τι υμιν φαινεται οι δε παντες κατεκριναν αυτον ενοχον ειναι θανατου     Ye heard the evil speaking, what appeareth to you?` and they all condemned him to be worthy of death,     audistis blasphemiam quid vobis videtur qui omnes condemnaverunt eum esse reum mortis
 
65.    Some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to beat him with fists, and to tell him, "Prophesy!" The officers struck him with the palms of their hands.     And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.     και ηρξαντο τινες εμπτυειν αυτω και περικαλυπτειν αυτου το προσωπον και κολαφιζειν αυτον και λεγειν αυτω προφητευσον και οι υπηρεται ραπισμασιν αυτον ελαβον     and certain began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say to him, `Prophesy;` and the officers were striking him with their palms.     et coeperunt quidam conspuere eum et velare faciem eius et colaphis eum caedere et dicere ei prophetiza et ministri alapis eum caedebant
 
66.    As Peter was in the courtyard below, one of the maids of the high priest came,     And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:     και οντος του πετρου κατω εν τη αυλη ερχεται μια των παιδισκων του αρχιερεως     And Peter being in the hall beneath, there doth come one of the maids of the chief priest,     et cum esset Petrus in atrio deorsum venit una ex ancillis summi sacerdotis
 
67.    and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked at him, and said, "You were also with the Nazarene, Jesus!"     And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.     και ιδουσα τον πετρον θερμαινομενον εμβλεψασα αυτω λεγει και συ μετα του ναζαρηνου ησθα του ιησου     and having seen Peter warming himself, having looked on him, she said, `And thou wast with Jesus of Nazareth!`     et cum vidisset Petrum calefacientem se aspiciens illum ait et tu cum Iesu Nazareno eras
 
68.    But he denied it, saying, "I neither know, nor understand what you are saying." He went out on the porch, and the rooster crowed.     But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.     ο δε ηρνησατο λεγων ουτε οιδα ουτε επισταμαι συ τι λεγεις και εξηλθεν εξω εις το προαυλιον [και αλεκτωρ εφωνησεν]     and he denied, saying, `I have not known him, neither do I understand what thou sayest;` and he went forth without to the porch, and a cock crew.     at ille negavit dicens neque scio neque novi quid dicas et exiit foras ante atrium et gallus cantavit
 
69.    The maid saw him, and began again to tell those who stood by, "This is one of them."     And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.     και η παιδισκη ιδουσα αυτον ηρξατο παλιν λεγειν τοις παρεστωσιν οτι ουτος εξ αυτων εστιν     And the maid having seen him again, began to say to those standing near -- `This is of them;`     rursus autem cum vidisset illum ancilla coepit dicere circumstantibus quia hic ex illis est
 
70.    But he again denied it. After a little while again those who stood by said to Peter, "You truly are one of them, for you are a Galilean, and your speech shows it."     And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.     ο δε παλιν ηρνειτο και μετα μικρον παλιν οι παρεστωτες ελεγον τω πετρω αληθως εξ αυτων ει και γαρ γαλιλαιος ει       and he was again denying. And after a little again, those standing near said to Peter, `Truly thou art of them, for thou also art a Galilean, and thy speech is alike;`     at ille iterum negavit et post pusillum rursus qui adstabant dicebant Petro vere ex illis es nam et Galilaeus es
 
71.    But he began to curse, and to swear, "I don't know this man of whom you speak!"     But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak.     ο δε ηρξατο αναθεματιζειν και ομνυναι οτι ουκ οιδα τον ανθρωπον τουτον ον λεγετε     and he began to anathematize, and to swear -- `I have not known this man of whom ye speak;`     ille autem coepit anathematizare et iurare quia nescio hominem istum quem dicitis
 
72.    The rooster crowed the second time. Peter remembered the word, how that Jesus said to him, "Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times." When he thought about that, he wept.     And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.     και ευθυσ εκ δευτερου αλεκτωρ εφωνησεν και ανεμνησθη ο πετρος το ρημα ωσ  ειπεν αυτω ο ιησους οτι πριν αλεκτορα φωνησαι δις  τρις με απαρνηση και επιβαλων εκλαιεν     and a second time a cock crew, and Peter remembered the saying that Jesus said to him -- `Before a cock crow twice, thou mayest deny me thrice;` and having thought thereon -- he was weeping.     et statim iterum gallus cantavit et recordatus est Petrus verbi quod dixerat ei Iesus priusquam gallus cantet bis ter me negabis et coepit flere
