1.    When Jesus had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples over the brook Kidron, where there was a garden, into which he and his disciples entered.     When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.     ταυτα ειπων ιησους εξηλθεν συν τοις μαθηταις αυτου περαν του χειμαρρου του κεδρων οπου ην κηπος εις ον εισηλθεν αυτος και οι μαθηται αυτου     These things having said, Jesus went forth with his disciples beyond the brook of Kedron, where was a garden, into which he entered, himself and his disciples,     haec cum dixisset Iesus egressus est cum discipulis suis trans torrentem Cedron ubi erat hortus in quem introivit ipse et discipuli eius

2.    Now Judas, who betrayed him, also knew the place, for Jesus often met there with his disciples.     And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus ofttimes resorted thither with his disciples.     ηδει δε και ιουδας ο παραδιδους αυτον τον τοπον οτι πολλακις συνηχθη  ιησους εκει μετα των μαθητων αυτου     and Judas also, who delivered him up, had known the place, because many times did Jesus assemble there with his disciples.     sciebat autem et Iudas qui tradebat eum ipsum locum quia frequenter Iesus convenerat illuc cum discipulis suis

3.    Judas then, having taken a detachment of soldiers and officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons.     Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.     ο ουν ιουδας λαβων την σπειραν και εκ των αρχιερεων και εκ των φαρισαιων υπηρετας ερχεται εκει μετα φανων και λαμπαδων και οπλων     Judas, therefore, having taken the band and officers out of the chief priests and Pharisees, doth come thither with torches and lamps, and weapons;     Iudas ergo cum accepisset cohortem et a pontificibus et Pharisaeis ministros venit illuc cum lanternis et facibus et armis

4.    Jesus therefore, knowing all the things that were happening to him, went forth, and said to them, "Who are you looking for?"     Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?     ιησους ουν ειδως παντα τα ερχομενα επ αυτον εξηλθεν και λεγει  αυτοις τινα ζητειτε     Jesus, therefore, knowing all things that are coming upon him, having gone forth, said to them, `Whom do ye seek?`     Iesus itaque sciens omnia quae ventura erant super eum processit et dicit eis quem quaeritis

5.    They answered him, "Jesus of Nazareth." Jesus said to them, "I am he." Judas also, who betrayed him, was standing with them.     They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.     απεκριθησαν αυτω ιησουν τον ναζωραιον λεγει αυτοις  εγω ειμι ειστηκει δε και ιουδας ο παραδιδους αυτον μετ αυτων     they answered him, `Jesus the Nazarene;` Jesus saith to them, `I am he;` -- and Judas who delivered him up was standing with them; --     responderunt ei Iesum Nazarenum dicit eis Iesus ego sum stabat autem et Iudas qui tradebat eum cum ipsis

6.    When therefore he said to them, "I am he," they went backward, and fell to the ground.     As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.     ως ουν ειπεν αυτοις εγω ειμι απηλθον εις τα οπισω και επεσαν χαμαι     when, therefore, he said to them -- `I am he,` they went away backward, and fell to the ground.     ut ergo dixit eis ego sum abierunt retrorsum et ceciderunt in terram

7.    Again therefore he asked them, "Who are you looking for?" They said, "Jesus of Nazareth."     Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.     παλιν ουν επηρωτησεν αυτουσ τινα ζητειτε οι δε ειπαν ιησουν τον ναζωραιον     Again, therefore, he questioned them, `Whom do ye seek?` and they said, `Jesus the Nazarene;`     iterum ergo eos interrogavit quem quaeritis illi autem dixerunt Iesum Nazarenum

8.    Jesus answered, "I told you that I am he. If therefore you seek me, let these go their way,"     Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:     απεκριθη ιησους ειπον υμιν οτι εγω ειμι ει ουν εμε ζητειτε αφετε τουτους υπαγειν     Jesus answered, `I said to you that I am he; if, then, me ye seek, suffer these to go away;`     respondit Iesus dixi vobis quia ego sum si ergo me quaeritis sinite hos abire

9.    that the word might be fulfilled which he spoke, "Of those whom you have given me, I have lost none."{John 6:39}     That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.     ινα πληρωθη ο λογος ον ειπεν οτι ους δεδωκας μοι ουκ απωλεσα εξ αυτων ουδενα     that the word might be fulfilled that he said -- `Those whom Thou hast given to me, I did not lose of them even one.`     ut impleretur sermo quem dixit quia quos dedisti mihi non perdidi ex ipsis quemquam

10.    Simon Peter therefore, having a sword, drew it, and struck the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.     Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.     σιμων ουν πετρος εχων μαχαιραν ειλκυσεν αυτην και επαισεν τον του αρχιερεως δουλον και απεκοψεν αυτου το ωταριον το δεξιον ην δε ονομα τω δουλω μαλχος     Simon Peter, therefore, having a sword, drew it, and struck the chief priest`s servant, and cut off his right ear -- and the name of the servant was Malchus --     Simon ergo Petrus habens gladium eduxit eum et percussit pontificis servum et abscidit eius auriculam dextram erat autem nomen servo Malchus

11.    Jesus therefore said to Peter, "Put the sword into its sheath. The cup which the Father has given me, shall I not surely drink it?"     Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?     ειπεν ουν ο ιησους τω πετρω βαλε την μαχαιραν εις την θηκην το ποτηριον ο δεδωκεν μοι ο πατηρ ου μη πιω αυτο     Jesus, therefore, said to Peter, `Put the sword into the sheath; the cup that the Father hath given to me, may I not drink it?`     dixit ergo Iesus Petro mitte gladium in vaginam calicem quem dedit mihi Pater non bibam illum

12.    So the detachment, the commanding officer, and the officers of the Jews, seized Jesus and bound him,     Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him,     η ουν σπειρα και ο χιλιαρχος και οι υπηρεται των ιουδαιων συνελαβον τον ιησουν και εδησαν αυτον     The band, therefore, and the captain, and the officers of the Jews, took hold on Jesus, and bound him,     cohors ergo et tribunus et ministri Iudaeorum conprehenderunt Iesum et ligaverunt eum

13.    and led him to Annas first, for he was father-in-law to Caiaphas, who was high priest that year.     And led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year.     και ηγαγον  προς ανναν πρωτον ην γαρ πενθερος του καιαφα ος ην αρχιερευς του ενιαυτου εκεινου     and they led him away to Annas first, for he was father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was chief priest of that year,     et adduxerunt eum ad Annam primum erat enim socer Caiaphae qui erat pontifex anni illius

14.    Now it was Caiaphas who advised the Jews that it was expedient that one man should perish for the people.     Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.     ην δε καιαφας ο συμβουλευσας τοις ιουδαιοις οτι συμφερει ενα ανθρωπον αποθανειν υπερ του λαου     and Caiaphas was he who gave counsel to the Jews, that it is good for one man to perish for the people.     erat autem Caiaphas qui consilium dederat Iudaeis quia expedit unum hominem mori pro populo

15.    Simon Peter followed Jesus, as did another disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and entered in with Jesus into the court of the high priest;     And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple: that disciple was known unto the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest.     ηκολουθει δε τω ιησου σιμων πετρος και αλλος μαθητης ο δε μαθητης εκεινος ην γνωστος τω αρχιερει και συνεισηλθεν τω ιησου εις την αυλην του αρχιερεως     And following Jesus was Simon Peter, and the other disciple, and that disciple was known to the chief priest, and he entered with Jesus to the hall of the chief priest,     sequebatur autem Iesum Simon Petrus et alius discipulus discipulus autem ille erat notus pontifici et introivit cum Iesu in atrium pontificis

16.    but Peter was standing at the door outside. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to her who kept the door, and brought in Peter.     But Peter stood at the door without. Then went out that other disciple, which was known unto the high priest, and spake unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter.     ο δε πετρος ειστηκει προς τη θυρα εξω εξηλθεν ουν ο μαθητης ο αλλος ο  γνωστος του αρχιερεωσ και ειπεν τη θυρωρω και εισηγαγεν τον πετρον     and Peter was standing at the door without, therefore went forth the other disciple who was known to the chief priest, and he spake to the female keeping the door, and he brought in Peter.     Petrus autem stabat ad ostium foris exivit ergo discipulus alius qui erat notus pontifici et dixit ostiariae et introduxit Petrum

17.    Then the maid who kept the door said to Peter, "Are you also one of this man's disciples?" He said, "I am not."     Then saith the damsel that kept the door unto Peter, Art not thou also one of this man's disciples? He saith, I am not.     λεγει ουν τω πετρω η παιδισκη η θυρωρος  μη και συ εκ των μαθητων ει του ανθρωπου τουτου λεγει εκεινος ουκ ειμι     Then said the maid keeping the door to Peter, `Art thou also of the disciples of this man?` he saith, `I am not;`     dicit ergo Petro ancilla ostiaria numquid et tu ex discipulis es hominis istius dicit ille non sum

18.    Now the servants and the officers were standing there, having made a fire of coals, for it was cold. They were warming themselves. Peter was with them, standing and warming himself.     And the servants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals; for it was cold: and they warmed themselves: and Peter stood with them, and warmed himself.     ειστηκεισαν δε οι δουλοι και οι υπηρεται ανθρακιαν πεποιηκοτες οτι ψυχος ην και εθερμαινοντο ην δε και  ο πετρος μετ αυτων εστως και θερμαινομενος     and the servants and the officers were standing, having made a fire of coals, because it was cold, and they were warming themselves, and Peter was standing with them, and warming himself.     stabant autem servi et ministri ad prunas quia frigus erat et calefiebant erat autem cum eis et Petrus stans et calefaciens se

19.    The high priest therefore asked Jesus about his disciples, and about his teaching.     The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine.     ο ουν αρχιερευς ηρωτησεν τον ιησουν περι των μαθητων αυτου και περι της διδαχης αυτου     The chief priests, therefore, questioned Jesus concerning his disciples, and concerning his teaching;     pontifex ergo interrogavit Iesum de discipulis suis et de doctrina eius

20.    Jesus answered him, "I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues, and in the temple, where the Jews always meet. I said nothing in secret.     Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.     απεκριθη αυτω ιησους εγω παρρησια λελαληκα τω κοσμω εγω παντοτε εδιδαξα εν συναγωγη και εν τω ιερω οπου παντεσ οι ιουδαιοι συνερχονται και εν κρυπτω ελαλησα ουδεν     Jesus answered him, `I spake freely to the world, I did always teach in a synagogue, and in the temple, where the Jews do always come together; and in secret I spake nothing;     respondit ei Iesus ego palam locutus sum mundo ego semper docui in synagoga et in templo quo omnes Iudaei conveniunt et in occulto locutus sum nihil

21.    Why do you ask me? Ask those who have heard me what I said to them. Behold, these know the things which I said."     Why askest thou me? ask them which heard me, what I have said unto them: behold, they know what I said.     τι με ερωτασ ερωτησον τους ακηκοοτας τι ελαλησα αυτοις ιδε ουτοι οιδασιν α ειπον εγω     why me dost thou question? question those having heard what I spake to them; lo, these have known what I said.`     quid me interrogas interroga eos qui audierunt quid locutus sum ipsis ecce hii sciunt quae dixerim ego

22.    When he had said this, one of the officers standing by slapped Jesus with his hand, saying, "Do you answer the high priest like that?"     And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?     ταυτα δε αυτου ειποντος εις παρεστηκωσ των υπηρετων εδωκεν ραπισμα τω ιησου ειπων ουτως αποκρινη τω αρχιερει     And he having said these things, one of the officers standing by did give Jesus a slap, saying, `Thus dost thou answer the chief priest?`     haec autem cum dixisset unus adsistens ministrorum dedit alapam Iesu dicens sic respondes pontifici

23.    Jesus answered him, "If I have spoken evil, testify of the evil; but if well, why do you beat me?"     Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me?     απεκριθη αυτω ιησους ει κακως ελαλησα μαρτυρησον περι του κακου ει δε καλως τι με δερεις     Jesus answered him, `If I spake ill, testify concerning the ill; and if well, why me dost thou smite?`     respondit ei Iesus si male locutus sum testimonium perhibe de malo si autem bene quid me caedis

24.    Annas sent him bound to Caiaphas, the high priest.     Now Annas had sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest.     απεστειλεν ουν αυτον ο αννας δεδεμενον προς καιαφαν τον αρχιερεα     Annas then sent him bound to Caiaphas the chief priest.     et misit eum Annas ligatum ad Caiaphan pontificem

25.    Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. They said therefore to him, "You aren't also one of his disciples, are you?" He denied it, and said, "I am not."     And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore unto him, Art not thou also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not.     ην δε σιμων πετρος εστως και θερμαινομενος ειπον ουν αυτω μη και συ εκ των μαθητων αυτου ει ηρνησατο εκεινος και ειπεν ουκ ειμι     And Simon Peter was standing and warming himself, they said then to him, `Art thou also of his disciples?` he denied, and said, `I am not.`     erat autem Simon Petrus stans et calefaciens se dixerunt ergo ei numquid et tu ex discipulis eius es negavit ille et dixit non sum

26.    One of the servants of the high priest, being a relative of him whose ear Peter had cut off, said, "Didn't I see you in the garden with him?"     One of the servants of the high priest, being his kinsman whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him?     λεγει εις εκ των δουλων του αρχιερεως συγγενης ων ου απεκοψεν πετρος το ωτιον ουκ εγω σε ειδον εν τω κηπω μετ αυτου     One of the servants of the chief priest, being kinsman of him whose ear Peter cut off, saith, `Did not I see thee in the garden with him?`     dicit unus ex servis pontificis cognatus eius cuius abscidit Petrus auriculam nonne ego te vidi in horto cum illo

27.    Peter therefore denied it again, and immediately the rooster crowed.     Peter then denied again: and immediately the cock crew.     παλιν ουν ηρνησατο πετρος και ευθεως αλεκτωρ εφωνησεν     again, therefore, Peter denied, and immediately a cock crew.     iterum ergo negavit Petrus et statim gallus cantavit

28.    They led Jesus therefore from Caiaphas into the Praetorium. It was early, and they themselves didn't enter into the Praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the Passover.     Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.     αγουσιν ουν τον ιησουν απο του καιαφα εις το πραιτωριον ην δε πρωι και αυτοι ουκ εισηλθον εις το πραιτωριον ινα μη μιανθωσιν αλλα  φαγωσιν το πασχα     They led, therefore, Jesus from Caiaphas to the praetorium, and it was early, and they themselves did not enter into the praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but that they might eat the passover;     adducunt ergo Iesum a Caiapha in praetorium erat autem mane et ipsi non introierunt in praetorium ut non contaminarentur sed manducarent pascha

29.    Pilate therefore went out to them, and said, "What accusation do you bring against this man?"     Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring ye against this man?     εξηλθεν ουν ο πιλατος εξω προς αυτους και φησιν τινα κατηγοριαν φερετε [κατα] του ανθρωπου τουτου     Pilate, therefore, went forth unto them, and said, `What accusation do ye bring against this man?`     exivit ergo Pilatus ad eos foras et dixit quam accusationem adfertis adversus hominem hunc

30.    They answered him, "If this man weren't an evildoer, we wouldn't have delivered him up to you."     They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee.     απεκριθησαν και ειπαν αυτω ει μη ην ουτος κακον ποιων ουκ αν σοι παρεδωκαμεν αυτον     they answered and said to him, `If he were not an evil doer, we had not delivered him to thee.`     responderunt et dixerunt ei si non esset hic malefactor non tibi tradidissemus eum

31.    Pilate therefore said to them, "Take him yourselves, and judge him according to your law." Therefore the Jews said to him, "It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death,"     Then said Pilate unto them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death:     ειπεν ουν αυτοις ο πιλατος λαβετε αυτον υμεις και κατα τον νομον υμων κρινατε αυτον ειπον αυτω οι ιουδαιοι ημιν ουκ εξεστιν αποκτειναι ουδενα     Pilate, therefore, said to them, `Take ye him -- ye -- and according to your law judge him;` the Jews, therefore, said to him, `It is not lawful to us to put any one to death;`     dixit ergo eis Pilatus accipite eum vos et secundum legem vestram iudicate eum dixerunt ergo ei Iudaei nobis non licet interficere quemquam

32.    that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spoke, signifying by what kind of death he should die.     That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying what death he should die.     ινα ο λογος του ιησου πληρωθη ον ειπεν σημαινων ποιω θανατω ημελλεν αποθνησκειν     that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled which he said, signifying by what death he was about to die.     ut sermo Iesu impleretur quem dixit significans qua esset morte moriturus

33.    Pilate therefore entered again into the Praetorium, called Jesus, and said to him, "Are you the King of the Jews?"     Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?     εισηλθεν ουν παλιν εις το πραιτωριον ο πιλατος και εφωνησεν τον ιησουν και ειπεν αυτω συ ει ο βασιλευς των ιουδαιων     Pilate, therefore, entered into the praetorium again, and called Jesus, and said to him, `Thou art the King of the Jews?`     introivit ergo iterum in praetorium Pilatus et vocavit Iesum et dixit ei tu es rex Iudaeorum

34.    Jesus answered him, "Do you say this by yourself, or did others tell you about me?"     Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?     απεκριθη  ιησους απο σεαυτου συ τουτο λεγεις η αλλοι ειπον σοι περι εμου     Jesus answered him, `From thyself dost thou say this? or did others say it to thee about me?`     et respondit Iesus a temet ipso hoc dicis an alii tibi dixerunt de me

35.    Pilate answered, "I'm not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests delivered you to me. What have you done?"     Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?     απεκριθη ο πιλατος μητι εγω ιουδαιος ειμι το εθνος το σον και οι αρχιερεις παρεδωκαν σε εμοι τι εποιησας     Pilate answered, `Am I a Jew? thy nation, and the chief priests did deliver thee up to me; what didst thou?`     respondit Pilatus numquid ego Iudaeus sum gens tua et pontifices tradiderunt te mihi quid fecisti

36.    Jesus answered, "My Kingdom is not of this world. If my Kingdom were of this world, then my servants would fight, that I wouldn't be delivered to the Jews. But now my Kingdom is not from here."     Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.     απεκριθη ιησους η βασιλεια η εμη ουκ εστιν εκ του κοσμου τουτου ει εκ του κοσμου τουτου ην η βασιλεια η εμη οι υπηρεται οι εμοι ηγωνιζοντο [αν] ινα μη παραδοθω τοις ιουδαιοις νυν δε η βασιλεια η εμη ουκ εστιν εντευθεν     Jesus answered, `My kingdom is not of this world; if my kingdom were of this world, my officers had struggled that I might not be delivered up to Jews; but now my kingdom is not from hence.`     respondit Iesus regnum meum non est de mundo hoc si ex hoc mundo esset regnum meum ministri mei decertarent ut non traderer Iudaeis nunc autem meum regnum non est hinc

37.    Pilate therefore said to him, "Are you a king then?" Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. For this reason I have been born, and for this reason I have come into the world, that I should testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice."     Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.     ειπεν ουν αυτω ο πιλατος ουκουν βασιλευς ει συ απεκριθη ο ιησους συ λεγεις οτι βασιλευς ειμι εγω εις τουτο γεγεννημαι και εις τουτο εληλυθα εις τον κοσμον ινα μαρτυρησω τη αληθεια πας ο ων εκ της αληθειας ακουει μου της φωνης     Pilate, therefore, said to him, `Art thou then a king?` Jesus answered, `Thou dost say it; because a king I am, I for this have been born, and for this I have come to the world, that I may testify to the truth; every one who is of the truth, doth hear my voice.`     dixit itaque ei Pilatus ergo rex es tu respondit Iesus tu dicis quia rex sum ego ego in hoc natus sum et ad hoc veni in mundum ut testimonium perhibeam veritati omnis qui est ex veritate audit meam vocem

38.    Pilate said to him, "What is truth?" When he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, "I find no basis for a charge against him.     Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.     λεγει αυτω ο πιλατος τι εστιν αληθεια και τουτο ειπων παλιν εξηλθεν προς τους ιουδαιους και λεγει αυτοις εγω ουδεμιαν ευρισκω εν αυτω αιτιαν     Pilate saith to him, `What is truth?` and this having said, again he went forth unto the Jews, and saith to them, `I do find no fault in him;     dicit ei Pilatus quid est veritas et cum hoc dixisset iterum exivit ad Iudaeos et dicit eis ego nullam invenio in eo causam

39.    But you have a custom, that I should release someone to you at the Passover. Therefore do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?"     But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?     εστιν δε συνηθεια υμιν ινα ενα απολυσω υμιν εν τω πασχα βουλεσθε ουν απολυσω υμιν τον βασιλεα των ιουδαιων     and ye have a custom that I shall release to you one in the passover; will ye, therefore, that I shall release to you the king of the Jews?`     est autem consuetudo vobis ut unum dimittam vobis in pascha vultis ergo dimittam vobis regem Iudaeorum

40.    Then they all shouted again, saying, "Not this man, but Barabbas!" Now Barabbas was a robber.     Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.     εκραυγασαν ουν παλιν λεγοντες μη τουτον αλλα τον βαραββαν ην δε ο βαραββας ληστης     therefore they all cried out again, saying, `Not this one -- but Barabbas;` and Barabbas was a robber.     clamaverunt rursum omnes dicentes non hunc sed Barabban erat autem Barabbas latro
