1.    Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.     Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.     περι δε των ειδωλοθυτων οιδαμεν οτι παντες γνωσιν εχομεν η γνωσις φυσιοι η δε αγαπη οικοδομει     And concerning the things sacrificed to idols, we have known that we all have knowledge: knowledge puffeth up, but love buildeth up;     de his autem quae idolis sacrificantur scimus quia omnes scientiam habemus scientia inflat caritas vero aedificat
 
2.    But if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he doesn't yet know as he ought to know.     And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.     ει τις δοκει εγνωκεναι τι ουπω εγνω  καθως δει γνωναι     and if any one doth think to know anything, he hath not yet known anything according as it behoveth him to know;     si quis se existimat scire aliquid nondum cognovit quemadmodum oporteat eum scire
 
3.    But if anyone loves God, the same is known by him.     But if any man love God, the same is known of him.     ει δε τις αγαπα τον θεον ουτος εγνωσται υπ αυτου     and if any one doth love God, this one hath been known by Him.     si quis autem diligit Deum hic cognitus est ab eo
 
4.    Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that no idol is anything in the world, and that there is no other God but one.     As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.     περι της βρωσεως ουν των ειδωλοθυτων οιδαμεν οτι ουδεν ειδωλον εν κοσμω και οτι ουδεις θεος ει μη εις     Concerning the eating then of the things sacrificed to idols, we have known that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God except one;     de escis autem quae idolis immolantur scimus quia nihil est idolum in mundo et quod nullus Deus nisi unus
 
5.    For though there are things that are called "gods," whether in the heavens or on earth; as there are many "gods" and many "lords;"     For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)     και γαρ ειπερ εισιν λεγομενοι θεοι ειτε εν ουρανω ειτε επι  γης ωσπερ εισιν θεοι πολλοι και κυριοι πολλοι     for even if there are those called gods, whether in heaven, whether upon earth -- as there are gods many and lords many --     nam et si sunt qui dicantur dii sive in caelo sive in terra siquidem sunt dii multi et domini multi
 
6.    yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we live through him.     But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.     αλλ ημιν εις θεος ο πατηρ εξ ου τα παντα και ημεις εις αυτον και εις κυριος ιησους χριστος δι ου τα παντα και ημεις δι αυτου     yet to us is one God, the Father, of whom are the all things, and we to Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are the all things, and we through Him;     nobis tamen unus Deus Pater ex quo omnia et nos in illum et unus Dominus Iesus Christus per quem omnia et nos per ipsum
 
7.    However, that knowledge isn't in all men. But some, with consciousness of the idol until now, eat as of a thing sacrificed to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.     Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.     αλλ ουκ εν πασιν η γνωσις τινες δε τη συνηθεια  εως αρτι του ειδωλου ως ειδωλοθυτον εσθιουσιν και η συνειδησις αυτων ασθενης ουσα μολυνεται     but not in all men is the knowledge, and certain with conscience of the idol, till now, as a thing sacrificed to an idol do eat it, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.     sed non in omnibus est scientia quidam autem conscientia usque nunc idoli quasi idolothytum manducant et conscientia ipsorum cum sit infirma polluitur
 
8.    But food will not commend us to God. For neither, if we don't eat, are we the worse; nor, if we eat, are we the better.     But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.     βρωμα δε ημας ου παραστησει τω θεω   ουτε εαν μη φαγωμεν υστερουμεθα ουτε εαν φαγωμεν περισσευομεν     But victuals do not commend us to God, for neither if we may eat are we in advance; nor if we may not eat, are we behind;     esca autem nos non commendat Deo neque si non manducaverimus deficiemus neque si manducaverimus abundabimus
 
9.    But be careful that by no means does this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to the weak.     But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.     βλεπετε δε μη πωσ η εξουσια υμων αυτη προσκομμα γενηται τοις ασθενεσιν     but see, lest this privilege of yours may become a stumbling-block to the infirm,     videte autem ne forte haec licentia vestra offendiculum fiat infirmibus
 
10.    For if a man sees you who have knowledge sitting in an idol's temple, won't his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols?     For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;     εαν γαρ τις ιδη σε τον εχοντα γνωσιν εν ειδωλειω κατακειμενον ουχι η συνειδησις αυτου ασθενους οντος οικοδομηθησεται εις το τα ειδωλοθυτα εσθιειν     for if any one may see thee that hast knowledge in an idol`s temple reclining at meat -- shall not his conscience -- he being infirm -- be emboldened to eat the things sacrificed to idols,     si enim quis viderit eum qui habet scientiam in idolio recumbentem nonne conscientia eius cum sit infirma aedificabitur ad manducandum idolothyta
 
11.    And through your knowledge, he who is weak perishes, the brother for whose sake Christ died.     And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?     απολλυται γαρ ο ασθενων εν  τη ση γνωσει ο αδελφοσ δι ον χριστος απεθανεν     and the brother who is infirm shall perish by thy knowledge, because of whom Christ died?     et peribit infirmus in tua scientia frater propter quem Christus mortuus est
 
12.    Thus, sinning against the brothers, and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.     But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.     ουτως δε αμαρτανοντες εις τους αδελφους και τυπτοντες αυτων την συνειδησιν ασθενουσαν εις χριστον αμαρτανετε     and thus sinning in regard to the brethren, and smiting their weak conscience -- in regard to Christ ye sin;     sic autem peccantes in fratres et percutientes conscientiam eorum infirmam in Christo peccatis
 
13.    Therefore, if food causes my brother to stumble, I will eat no meat forevermore, that I don't cause my brother to stumble.     Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.     διοπερ ει βρωμα σκανδαλιζει τον αδελφον μου ου μη φαγω κρεα εις τον αιωνα ινα μη τον αδελφον μου σκανδαλισω     wherefore, if victuals cause my brother to stumble, I may eat no flesh -- to the age -- that my brother I may not cause to stumble.     quapropter si esca scandalizat fratrem meum non manducabo carnem in aeternum ne fratrem meum scandalizem
