2.    Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.     Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.     χαρις υμιν και ειρηνη απο θεου πατρος [ημων] και κυριου ιησου χριστου     Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ!     gratia vobis et pax a Deo Patre nostro et Domino Iesu Christo

3.    We are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers,{The word for "brothers" here and where context allows may also be correctly translated "brothers and sisters" or "siblings."} even as it is appropriate, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of each and every one of you towards one another abounds;     We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;     ευχαριστειν οφειλομεν τω θεω παντοτε περι υμων αδελφοι καθως αξιον εστιν οτι υπεραυξανει η πιστις υμων και πλεοναζει η αγαπη ενος εκαστου παντων υμων εις αλληλους     We ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because increase greatly doth your faith, and abound doth the love of each one of you all, to one another;     gratias agere debemus Deo semper pro vobis fratres ita ut dignum est quoniam supercrescit fides vestra et abundat caritas uniuscuiusque omnium vestrum in invicem

4.    so that we ourselves boast about you in the assemblies of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions which you endure.     So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:     ωστε αυτους ημασ εν υμιν εγκαυχασθαι εν ταις εκκλησιαις του θεου υπερ της υπομονης υμων και πιστεως εν πασιν τοις διωγμοις υμων και ταις θλιψεσιν αις ανεχεσθε     so that we ourselves do glory in you in the assemblies of God, for your endurance and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye bear;     ita ut et nos ipsi in vobis gloriemur in ecclesiis Dei pro patientia vestra et fide in omnibus persecutionibus vestris et tribulationibus quas sustinetis

5.    This is an obvious sign of the righteous judgment of God, to the end that you may be counted worthy of the Kingdom of God, for which you also suffer.     Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:     ενδειγμα της δικαιας κρισεως του θεου εις το καταξιωθηναι υμας της βασιλειας του θεου υπερ ης και πασχετε     a token of the righteous judgment of God, for your being counted worthy of the reign of God, for which also ye suffer,     in exemplum iusti iudicii Dei ut digni habeamini regno Dei pro quo et patimini

6.    Since it is a righteous thing with God to repay affliction to those who afflict you,     Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;     ειπερ δικαιον παρα θεω ανταποδουναι τοις θλιβουσιν υμας θλιψιν     since it is a righteous thing with God to give back to those troubling you -- trouble,     si tamen iustum est apud Deum retribuere tribulationem his qui vos tribulant

7.    and to give relief to you who are afflicted with us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire,     And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,     και υμιν τοις θλιβομενοις ανεσιν μεθ ημων εν τη αποκαλυψει του κυριου ιησου απ ουρανου μετ αγγελων δυναμεως αυτου     and to you who are troubled -- rest with us in the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven, with messengers of his power,     et vobis qui tribulamini requiem nobiscum in revelatione Domini Iesu de caelo cum angelis virtutis eius

8.    giving vengeance to those who don't know God, and to those who don't obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus,     In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:     εν πυρι φλογος διδοντος εκδικησιν τοις μη ειδοσιν θεον και τοις μη υπακουουσιν τω ευαγγελιω του κυριου ημων ιησου     in flaming fire, giving vengeance to those not knowing God, and to those not obeying the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ;     in flamma ignis dantis vindictam his qui non noverunt Deum et qui non oboediunt evangelio Domini nostri Iesu

9.    who will pay the penalty: eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might,     Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;     οιτινες δικην τισουσιν ολεθρον αιωνιον απο προσωπου του κυριου και απο της δοξης της ισχυος αυτου     who shall suffer justice -- destruction age-during -- from the face of the Lord, and from the glory of his strength,     qui poenas dabunt in interitu aeternas a facie Domini et a gloria virtutis eius

10.    when he comes to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired among all those who have believed (because our testimony to you was believed) in that day.     When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.     οταν ελθη ενδοξασθηναι εν τοις αγιοις αυτου και θαυμασθηναι εν πασιν τοις πιστευσασιν οτι επιστευθη το μαρτυριον ημων εφ υμας εν τη ημερα εκεινη     when He may come to be glorified in his saints, and to be wondered at in all those believing -- because our testimony was believed among you -- in that day;     cum venerit glorificari in sanctis suis et admirabilis fieri in omnibus qui crediderunt quia creditum est testimonium nostrum super vos in die illo

11.    To this end we also pray always for you, that our God may count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire of goodness and work of faith, with power;     Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:     εις ο και προσευχομεθα παντοτε περι υμων ινα υμας αξιωση της κλησεως ο θεος ημων και πληρωση πασαν ευδοκιαν αγαθωσυνης και εργον πιστεως εν δυναμει     for which also we do pray always for you, that our God may count you worthy of the calling, and may fulfil all the good pleasure of goodness, and the work of the faith in power,     in quo etiam oramus semper pro vobis ut dignetur vos vocatione sua Deus et impleat omnem voluntatem bonitatis et opus fidei in virtute

12.    that the name of our Lord Jesus{TR adds "Christ"} may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.     That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.     οπως ενδοξασθη το ονομα του κυριου ημων ιησου  εν υμιν και υμεις εν αυτω κατα την χαριν του θεου ημων και κυριου ιησου χριστου     that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and Lord Jesus Christ.     ut clarificetur nomen Domini nostri Iesu Christi in vobis et vos in illo secundum gratiam Dei nostri et Domini Iesu Christi
