1.    Forasmuch then as Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind; for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;     Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;     χριστου ουν παθοντος  σαρκι και υμεις την αυτην εννοιαν οπλισασθε οτι ο παθων σαρκι πεπαυται αμαρτιας     Christ, then, having suffered for us in the flesh, ye also with the same mind arm yourselves, because he who did suffer in the flesh hath done with sin,     Christo igitur passo in carne et vos eadem cogitatione armamini quia qui passus est carne desiit a peccatis

2.    that you no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.     That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.     εις το μηκετι ανθρωπων επιθυμιαις αλλα θεληματι θεου τον επιλοιπον εν σαρκι βιωσαι χρονον     no more in the desires of men, but in the will of God, to live the rest of the time in the flesh;     ut iam non hominum desideriis sed voluntate Dei quod reliquum est in carne vivat temporis

3.    For we have spent enough of our past time doing the desire of the Gentiles, and having walked in lewdness, lusts, drunken binges, orgies, carousings, and abominable idolatries.     For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:     αρκετος γαρ  ο παρεληλυθως χρονος  το βουλημα των εθνων κατειργασθαι πεπορευμενους εν ασελγειαις επιθυμιαις οινοφλυγιαις κωμοις ποτοις και αθεμιτοις ειδωλολατριαισ     for sufficient to us is the past time of life the will of the nations to have wrought, having walked in lasciviousnesses, desires, excesses of wines, revelings, drinking-bouts, and unlawful idolatries,     sufficit enim praeteritum tempus ad voluntatem gentium consummandam qui ambulaverunt in luxuriis desideriis vinolentiis comesationibus potationibus et inlicitis idolorum cultibus

4.    They think it is strange that you don't run with them into the same excess of riot, blaspheming:     Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:     εν ω ξενιζονται μη συντρεχοντων υμων εις την αυτην της ασωτιας αναχυσιν βλασφημουντες     in which they think it strange -- your not running with them to the same excess of dissoluteness, speaking evil,     in quo peregrinantur non concurrentibus vobis in eandem luxuriae confusionem blasphemantes

5.    who will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.     Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.     οι αποδωσουσιν λογον τω ετοιμως εχοντι κριναι ζωντας και νεκρους     who shall give an account to Him who is ready to judge living and dead,     qui reddent rationem ei qui paratus est iudicare vivos et mortuos

6.    For to this end the Good News was preached even to the dead, that they might be judged indeed as men in the flesh, but live as to God in the spirit.     For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.     εις τουτο γαρ και νεκροις ευηγγελισθη ινα κριθωσι μεν κατα ανθρωπους σαρκι ζωσι δε κατα θεον πνευματι     for for this also to dead men was good news proclaimed, that they may be judged, indeed, according to men in the flesh, and may live according to God in the spirit.     propter hoc enim et mortuis evangelizatum est ut iudicentur quidem secundum homines in carne vivant autem secundum Deum spiritu

7.    But the end of all things is near. Therefore be of sound mind, self-controlled, and sober in prayer.     But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.     παντων δε το τελος ηγγικεν σωφρονησατε ουν και νηψατε εις προσευχας     And of all things the end hath come nigh; be sober-minded, then, and watch unto the prayers,     omnium autem finis adpropinquavit estote itaque prudentes et vigilate in orationibus

8.    And above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins.     And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.     προ παντων την εις εαυτους αγαπην εκτενη εχοντες οτι αγαπη καλυπτει πληθος αμαρτιων     and, before all things, to one another having the earnest love, because the love shall cover a multitude of sins;     ante omnia mutuam in vosmet ipsos caritatem continuam habentes quia caritas operit multitudinem peccatorum

9.    Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.     Use hospitality one to another without grudging.     φιλοξενοι εις αλληλους ανευ γογγυσμου     hospitable to one another, without murmuring;     hospitales invicem sine murmuratione

10.    As each has received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as good managers of the grace of God in its various forms.     As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.     εκαστος καθως ελαβεν χαρισμα εις εαυτους αυτο διακονουντες ως καλοι οικονομοι ποικιλης χαριτος θεου     each, according as he received a gift, to one another ministering it, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God;     unusquisque sicut accepit gratiam in alterutrum illam administrantes sicut boni dispensatores multiformis gratiae Dei

11.    If anyone speaks, let it be as it were the very words of God. If anyone serves, let it be as of the strength which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.     If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.     ει τις λαλει ως λογια θεου ει τις διακονει ως εξ ισχυος ησ χορηγει ο θεος ινα εν πασιν δοξαζηται ο θεος δια ιησου χριστου ω εστιν η δοξα και το κρατος εις τους αιωνας των αιωνων αμην     if any one doth speak -- `as oracles of God;` if any one doth minister -- `as of the ability which God doth supply;` that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom is the glory and the power -- to the ages of the ages. Amen.     si quis loquitur quasi sermones Dei si quis ministrat tamquam ex virtute quam administrat Deus ut in omnibus honorificetur Deus per Iesum Christum cui est gloria et imperium in saecula saeculorum amen

12.    Beloved, don't be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you, to test you, as though a strange thing happened to you.     Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:     αγαπητοι μη ξενιζεσθε τη εν υμιν πυρωσει προς πειρασμον υμιν γινομενη ως ξενου υμιν συμβαινοντος     Beloved, think it not strange at the fiery suffering among you that is coming to try you, as if a strange thing were happening to you,     carissimi nolite peregrinari in fervore qui ad temptationem vobis fit quasi novi aliquid vobis contingat

13.    But because you are partakers of Christ's sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory you also may rejoice with exceeding joy.     But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.     αλλα καθο κοινωνειτε τοις του χριστου παθημασιν χαιρετε ινα και εν τη αποκαλυψει της δοξης αυτου χαρητε αγαλλιωμενοι     but, according as ye have fellowship with the sufferings of the Christ, rejoice ye, that also in the revelation of his glory ye may rejoice -- exulting;     sed communicantes Christi passionibus gaudete ut et in revelatione gloriae eius gaudeatis exultantes

14.    If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed; because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. On their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.     If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.     ει ονειδιζεσθε εν ονοματι χριστου μακαριοι οτι το της δοξης και το του θεου πνευμα εφ υμας αναπαυεται        if ye be reproached in the name of Christ -- happy are ye, because the Spirit of glory and of God upon you doth rest; in regard, indeed, to them, he is evil-spoken of, and in regard to you, he is glorified;     si exprobramini in nomine Christi beati quoniam gloriae Dei Spiritus in vobis requiescit

15.    For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil doer, or a meddler in other men's matters.     But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.     μη γαρ τις υμων πασχετω ως φονευς η κλεπτης η κακοποιος η ως αλλοτριεπισκοποσ     for let none of you suffer as a murderer, or thief, or evil-doer, or as an inspector into other men`s matters;     nemo enim vestrum patiatur quasi homicida aut fur aut maledicus aut alienorum appetitor

16.    But if one of you suffers for being a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this matter.     Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.     ει δε ως χριστιανος μη αισχυνεσθω δοξαζετω δε τον θεον εν τω ονοματι τουτω     and if as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; and let him glorify God in this respect;     si autem ut Christianus non erubescat glorificet autem Deum in isto nomine

17.    For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God. If it begins first with us, what will happen to those who don't obey the Good News of God?     For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?     οτι [ο] καιρος του αρξασθαι το κριμα απο του οικου του θεου ει δε πρωτον αφ ημων τι το τελος των απειθουντων τω του θεου ευαγγελιω     because it is the time of the beginning of the judgment from the house of God, and if first from us, what the end of those disobedient to the good news of God?     quoniam tempus ut incipiat iudicium de domo Dei si autem primum a nobis qui finis eorum qui non credunt Dei evangelio

18.    "If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will happen to the ungodly and the sinner?"{Proverbs 11:31}     And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?     και ει ο δικαιος μολις σωζεται ο ασεβης και αμαρτωλος που φανειται     And if the righteous man is scarcely saved, the ungodly and sinner -- where shall he appear?     et si iustus vix salvatur impius et peccator ubi parebit

19.    Therefore let them also who suffer according to the will of God in doing good entrust their souls to him, as to a faithful Creator.     Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.     ωστε και οι πασχοντες κατα το θελημα του θεου πιστω κτιστη παρατιθεσθωσαν τας ψυχας αυτων εν αγαθοποιια     so that also those suffering according to the will of god, as to a stedfast Creator, let them commit their own souls in good doing.     itaque et hii qui patiuntur secundum voluntatem Dei fideli creatori commendant animas suas in benefactis
