| 2. * | An apostle from Allah, rehearsing scriptures kept pure and holy: | an apostle from God, conveying [unto them] revelations blest with purity, | A messenger from God, he reads/recites/follows purified/cleaned written pages (scriptures). | rswl mn allh ytlw SHfa mThr+ | |||
| 3. * | Wherein are laws (or decrees) right and straight. | wherein there are ordinances of ever-true soundness and clarity. 2 | In it (are) straight/valuable Books. | fyha ktb qym+ | |||
| 4. * | Nor did the People of the Book make schisms, until after there came to them Clear Evidence. | Now those who have been vouchsafed revelation aforetime 3 did break up their unity [of faith] after such an evidence of the truth had come to them. 4 | And those who were given/brought the Book did not separate except from after what came to them (from) the evidence. | wmatfrq alXyn awtwa alktab ala mn b`d maja'thm albyn+ | |||
| 5. * | And they have been commanded no more than this: To worship Allah, offering Him sincere devotion, being true (in faith); to establish regular prayer; and to practise regular charity; and that is the Religion Right and Straight. | And withal, they were not enjoined aught but that they should worship God, sincere in their faith in Him alone, turning away from all that is false; 5 and that they should be constant in prayer; and that they should spend in charity: 6 for this is a moral law endowed with ever-true soundness and clarity. 7 | And they were not ordered/commanded except to worship God faithful/loyal/devoted to Him (in) the religion (as) submitters/Unifiers of God, and they keep up the prayers, and they give/bring the charity/purification, and that (is) the straight/valuable religion. | wmaamrwa ala ly`bdwa allh mKlSyn lh aldyn Hnfa' wyqymwa alSla+ wyWtwa alzka+ wXlk dyn alqym+ | |||
| 6. * | Those who reject (Truth), among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, will be in Hell-Fire, to dwell therein (for aye). They are the worst of creatures. | Verily, those who [despite all evidence] are bent on denying the truth 8 - [be they] from among the followers of earlier revelation or from among those who ascribe divinity to aught beside God - will find themselves in the fire of hell, therein to abide: they are the worst of all creatures. | That truly those who disbelieved from the Book's people and the sharers/takers of partners (with God are) in Hell's fire immortally/eternally in it, those, they are the creation's worst. | an alXyn kfrwa mn ahl alktab walm$rkyn fy nar jhnm Kaldyn fyha awlYk hm $r albry+ | |||
| 7. * | Those who have faith and do righteous deeds,- they are the best of creatures. | [And,] verily, those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds - it is they, they who are the best of all creatures. | That truly those who believed and made/did the correct/righteous deeds, those, they are the creation's best. | an alXyn amnwa w`mlwa alSalHat awlYk hm Kyr albry+ | |||
| 8. * | Their reward is with Allah.
