| 24. | ουδεις δυναται δυσι κυριοις δουλευειν η γαρ τον ενα μισησει και τον ετερον αγαπησει η ενος ανθεξεται και του ετερου καταφρονησει ου δυνασθε θεω δουλευειν και μαμωνα | No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. | "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. | 26. | εμβλεψατε εις τα πετεινα του ουρανου οτι ου σπειρουσιν ουδε θεριζουσιν ουδε συναγουσιν εις αποθηκας και ο πατηρ υμων ο ουρανιος τρεφει αυτα ουχ υμεις μαλλον διαφερετε αυτων | Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? | See the birds of the sky, that they don't sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you of much more value than they? | See the birds of heaven; they do not put seeds in the earth, they do not get in grain, or put it in store-houses; and your Father in heaven gives them food. | 27. | τις δε εξ υμων μεριμνων δυναται προσθειναι επι την ηλικιαν αυτου πηχυν ενα | Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? | "Which of you, by being anxious, can add one moment{literally, cubit} to his lifespan? | And which of you by taking thought is able to make himself a cubit taller? | |||
| 28. | και περι ενδυματος τι μεριμνατε καταμαθετε τα κρινα του αγρου πως αυξανουσιν ου κοπιωσιν ουδε νηθουσιν | And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: | Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow.
