| 2. | αυτοι γαρ ακριβως οιδατε οτι ημερα κυριου ως κλεπτης εν νυκτι ουτως ερχεται | For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. | For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night. | For you yourselves have the knowledge that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. | |||
| 3. | οταν λεγωσιν ειρηνη και ασφαλεια τοτε αιφνιδιος αυτοις εφισταται ολεθρος ωσπερ η ωδιν τη εν γαστρι εχουση και ου μη εκφυγωσιν | For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. | For when they are saying, "Peace and safety," then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman; and they will in no way escape. | When they say, There is peace and no danger, then sudden destruction will come on them, as birth-pains on a woman with child; and they will not be able to get away from it. | |||

| 13. | και ηγεισθαι αυτους υπερεκπερισσου εν αγαπη δια το εργον αυτων ειρηνευετε εν εαυτοις | And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. | 14. | παρακαλουμεν δε υμας αδελφοι νουθετειτε τους ατακτους παραμυθεισθε τους ολιγοψυχους αντεχεσθε των ασθενων μακροθυμειτε προς παντας | Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. | We exhort you, brothers, admonish the disorderly, encourage the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient toward all. | And our desire is that you will keep control over those whose lives are not well ordered, giving comfort to the feeble-hearted, supporting those with little strength, and putting up with much from all. | |||
