| 6. | και αυτη εστιν η αγαπη ινα περιπατωμεν κατα τας εντολας αυτου αυτη η εντολη εστιν καθως ηκουσατε απ αρχης ινα εν αυτη περιπατητε | And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. | This is love, that we should walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, even as you heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it. | And love is the keeping of his laws. | 7. | οτι πολλοι πλανοι εξηλθον εις τον κοσμον οι μη ομολογουντες ιησουν χριστον ερχομενον εν σαρκι ουτος εστιν ο πλανος και ο αντιχριστος | For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. | For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who don't confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the Antichrist. | Because a number of false teachers have gone out into the world, who do not give witness that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. | 8. | βλεπετε εαυτους ινα μη απολεσητε α ειργασαμεθα αλλα μισθον πληρη απολαβητε | Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. | Watch yourselves, that we don't lose the things which we have accomplished, but that we receive a full reward. | Keep watch over yourselves, so that you do not make our work of no effect, but may get your full reward. | |||
| 9. | πας ο προαγων και μη μενων εν τη διδαχη του χριστου θεον ουκ εχει ο μενων εν τη διδαχη ουτος και τον πατερα και τον υιον εχει | Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. | Whoever transgresses and doesn't remain in the teaching of Christ, doesn't have God. He who remains in the teaching, the same has both the Father and the Son. | Anyone who goes on and does not keep to the teaching of Christ, has not God: he who keeps to the teaching has the Father and the Son. | |||
| 10. | ει τις ερχεται προς υμας και ταυτην την διδαχην ου φερει μη λαμβανετε αυτον εις οικιαν και χαιρειν αυτω μη λεγετε | If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: | If anyone comes to you, and doesn't bring this teaching, don't receive him into your house, and don't welcome him, | If anyone comes to you not having this teaching, do not take him into your house or give him words of love: | |||
| 11. | ο λεγων γαρ αυτω χαιρειν κοινωνει τοις εργοις αυτου τοις πονηροις | For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds. | for he who welcomes him participates in his evil works. | For he who gives him words of love has a part in his evil works. | |||
| 12. | πολλα εχων υμιν γραφειν ουκ εβουληθην δια χαρτου και μελανος αλλα ελπιζω γενεσθαι προς υμας και στομα προς στομα λαλησαι ινα η χαρα ημων πεπληρωμενη η | Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full. | Having many things to write to you, I don't want to do so with paper and ink, but I hope to come to you, and to speak face to face, that our joy may be made full. | Having much to say to you, it is not my purpose to put it all down with paper and ink: but I am hoping to come to you, and to have talk with you face to face, so that your joy may be full. | |||
