ויהי ככלות שלמה לבנות את־בית־יהוה ואת־בית המלך ואת כל־חשק שלמה אשר חפץ לעשות׃ |
And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the LORD, and the king's house, and all Solomon's desire which he was pleased to do, | It happened, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of Yahweh, and the king's house, and all Solomon's desire which he was pleased to do, | Now when Solomon came to the end of building the house of the Lord and the king's house, and all Solomon's desires, which he had in mind were effected; | |||

וירא יהוה אל־שלמה שנית כאשר נראה אליו בגבעון׃ |
That the LORD appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared unto him at Gibeon. | that Yahweh appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon. | The Lord came to him again in a vision, as he had done at Gibeon; | |||

ויאמר יהוה אליו שמעתי את־תפלתך ואת־תחנתך אשר התחננתה לפני הקדשתי את־הבית הזה אשר בנתה לשום־שמי שם עד־עולם והיו עיני ולבי שם כל־הימים׃ |
And the LORD said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually. | Yahweh said to him, "I have heard your prayer and your supplication, that you have made before me. I have made this house holy, which you have built, to put my name there forever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually. | And the Lord said to him, Your prayers and your requests for grace have come to my ears: I have made holy this house which you have made, and I have put my name there for ever; my eyes and my heart will be there at all times. | |||

ואתה אם־תלך לפני כאשר הלך דוד אביך בתם־לבב ובישר לעשות ככל אשר צויתיך חקי ומשפטי תשמר׃ |
And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments: | As for you, if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, and will keep my statutes and my ordinances; | As for you, if you will go on your way before me, as David your father did, uprightly and with a true heart, doing what I have given you orders to do, keeping my laws and my decisions; | |||

והקמתי את־כסא ממלכתך על־ישראל לעלם כאשר דברתי על־דוד אביך לאמר לא־יכרת לך איש מעל כסא ישראל׃ |
Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel. | then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever, according as I promised to David your father, saying, 'There shall not fail you a man on the throne of Israel.' | Then I will make the seat of your rule over Israel certain for ever, as I gave my word to David your father, saying, You will never be without a man to be king in Israel. | |||

אם־שוב תשבון אתם ובניכם מאחרי ולא תשמרו מצותי חקתי אשר נתתי לפניכם והלכתם ועבדתם אלהים אחרים והשתחויתם להם׃ |
But if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them: | But if you turn away from following me, you or your children, and not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but shall go and serve other gods, and worship them; | But if you are turned from my ways, you or your children, and do not keep my orders and my laws which I have put before you, but go and make yourselves servants to other gods and give them worship: | |||

והכרתי את־ישראל מעל פני האדמה אשר נתתי להם ואת־הבית אשר הקדשתי לשמי אשלח מעל פני והיה ישראל למשל ולשנינה בכל־העמים׃ |
Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people: | then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have made holy for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all peoples. | Then I will have Israel cut off from the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have made holy for myself, I will put away from before my eyes; and Israel will be a public example, and a word of shame among all peoples. | |||

והבית הזה יהיה עליון כל־עבר עליו ישם ושרק ואמרו על־מה עשה יהוה ככה לארץ הזאת ולבית הזה׃ |
And at this house, which is high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and to this house? | Though this house is so high, yet shall everyone who passes by it be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, 'Why has Yahweh done thus to this land, and to this house?' | And this house will become a mass of broken walls, and everyone who goes by will be overcome with wonder at it and make whistling sounds; and they will say, Why has the Lord done so to this land and to this house? | |||

ואמרו על אשר עזבו את־יהוה אלהיהם אשר הוציא את־אבתם מארץ מצרים ויחזקו באלהים אחרים וישתחו להם ויעבדם על־כן הביא יהוה עליהם את כל־הרעה הזאת׃ |
And they shall answer, Because they forsook the LORD their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have taken hold upon other gods, and have worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath the LORD brought upon them all this evil. | and they shall answer, 'Because they forsook Yahweh their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold of other gods, and worshiped them, and served them. Therefore Yahweh has brought all this evil on them.'" | And their answer will be, Because they were turned away from the Lord their God, who took their fathers out of the land of Egypt; they took for themselves other gods and gave them worship and became their servants: that is why the Lord has sent all this evil on them. | |||

ויהי מקצה עשרים שנה אשר־בנה שלמה את־שני הבתים את־בית יהוה ואת־בית המלך׃ |
And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the LORD, and the king's house, | It happened at the end of twenty years, in which Solomon had built the two houses, the house of Yahweh and the king's house | Now at the end of twenty years, in which time Solomon had put up the two houses, the house of the Lord and the king's house, | |||

חירם מלך־צר נשא את־שלמה בעצי ארזים ובעצי ברושים ובזהב לכל־ חפצו אז יתן המלך שלמה לחירם עשרים עיר בארץ הגליל׃ |

And he said, What cities are these which thou hast given me, my brother? And he called them the land of Cabul unto this day. | He said, "What cities are these which you have given me, my brother?" He called them the land of Cabul to this day. | And he said, What sort of towns are these which you have given me, my brother? So they were named the land of Cabul, to this day. | |||

וישלח חירם למלך מאה ועשרים ככר זהב׃ |

וזה דבר־המס אשר־העלה המלך שלמה לבנות את־בית יהוה ואת־ביתו ואת־המלוא ואת חומת ירושלם ואת־חצר ואת־מגדו ואת־גזר׃ |

ואת כל־ערי המסכנות אשר היו לשלמה ואת ערי הרכב ואת ערי הפרשים ואת חשק שלמה אשר חשק לבנות בירושלם ובלבנון ובכל ארץ ממשלתו׃ |
And all the cities of store that Solomon had, and cities for his chariots, and cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion. | and all the storage cities that Solomon had, and the cities for his chariots, and the cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build for his pleasure in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion. | And all the store-towns and the towns which Solomon had for his war-carriages and for his horsemen, and everything which it was his pleasure to put up in Jerusalem and in Lebanon and in all the land under his rule. | |||

בניהם אשר נתרו אחריהם בארץ אשר לא־יכלו בני ישראל להחרימם ויעלם שלמה למס־עבד עד היום הזה׃ |
Their children that were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel also were not able utterly to destroy, upon those did Solomon levy a tribute of bondservice unto this day. | their children who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel were not able utterly to destroy, of them did Solomon raise a levy of bondservants to this day. | Their children who were still in the land, and whom the children of Israel had not been able to put to complete destruction, them did Solomon put to forced work, to this day. | |||

ומבני ישראל לא־נתן שלמה עבד כי־הם אנשי המלחמה ועבדיו ושריו ושלשיו ושרי רכבו ופרשיו׃ |

And three times in a year did Solomon offer burnt offerings and peace offerings upon the altar which he built unto the LORD, and he burnt incense upon the altar that was before the LORD. וישלח חירם באני את־עבדיו אנשי אניות ידעי הים עם עבדי שלמה׃ |
