1.    ויהי  אחרי־כן  ויך 
דויד  את־פלשתים
ויכניעם  ויקח
את־גת  ובנתיה  מיד
פלשתים׃
    Now after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines.     After this it happened, that David struck the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and its towns out of the hand of the Philistines.     And it came about after this that David made an attack on the Philistines and overcame them, and took Gath with its daughter-towns out of the hands of the Philistines.
 
2.    ויך  את־מואב  ויהיו 
מואב  עבדים  לדויד
נשאי  מנחה׃
    And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts.     He struck Moab; and the Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.     And he overcame Moab, and the Moabites became his servants and gave him offerings.
 
3.    ויך  דויד 
את־הדדעזר
מלך־צובה  חמתה
בלכתו  להציב  ידו
בנהר־פרת׃
    And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Euphrates.     David struck Hadadezer king of Zobah to Hamath, as he went to establish his dominion by the river Euphrates.     Then David overcame Hadadezer, king of Zobah, near Hamath, when he was going to make his power seen by the river Euphrates.
 
4.    וילכד  דויד  ממנו 
אלף  רכב  ושבעת
אלפים  פרשים
ועשרים  אלף  איש
רגלי  ויעקר  דויד
את־כל־הרכב  ויותר
ממנו  מאה  רכב׃
    And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them an hundred chariots.     David took from him one thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen; and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for one hundred chariots.     And David took from him a thousand war-carriages and seven thousand horsemen and twenty thousand footmen: and he had the leg-muscles of all the horses cut, keeping only enough of them for a hundred war-carriages.
 
5.    ויבא  ארם  דרמשק 
לעזור  להדדעזר  מלך
צובה  ויך  דויד
בארם  עשרים־  ושנים
אלף  איש׃
    And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.     When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck of the Syrians twenty-two thousand men.     And when the Aramaeans of Damascus came to the help of Hadadezer, king of Zobah, David put to the sword twenty-two thousand Aramaeans.
 
6.    וישם  דויד  בארם 
דרמשק  ויהי  ארם
לדויד  עבדים  נשאי
מנחה  ויושע  יהוה
לדויד  בכל  אשר
הלך׃
    Then David put garrisons in Syriadamascus; and the Syrians became David's servants, and brought gifts. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.     Then David put [garrisons] in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.     Then David put armed forces in Damascus, and the Aramaeans became his servants and gave him offerings. And the Lord made David overcome wherever he went.
 
7.    ויקח  דויד  את  שלטי 
הזהב  אשר  היו  על
עבדי  הדדעזר
ויביאם  ירושלם׃
    And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.     David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.     And the gold body-covers of the servants of Hadadezer, David took to Jerusalem.
 
8.    ומטבחת  ומכון  ערי 
הדדעזר  לקח  דויד
נחשת  רבה  מאד  בה
עשה  שלמה  את־  ים
הנחשת  ואת־העמודים
ואת  כלי  הנחשת׃
    Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.     From Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took very much brass, with which Solomon made the bronze sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.     And from Tibhath and from Cun, towns of Hadadezer, David took a great store of brass, of which Solomon made the great brass water-vessel and the brass pillars and vessels.
 
9.    וישמע  תעו  מלך  חמת 
כי  הכה  דויד
את־כל־חיל  הדדעזר
מלך־צובה׃
    Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah;     When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,     Now when Tou, king of Hamath, had news that David had overcome all the army of Hadadezer, king of Zobah,
 
10.    וישלח 
את־הדורם־בנו
אל־המלך־דויד
לשאול־לו  לשלום
ולברכו  על  אשר
נלחם  בהדדעזר
ויכהו  כי־איש
מלחמות  תעו  היה
הדדעזר  וכל  כלי
זהב  וכסף  ונחשת׃
    He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to enquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.     he sent Hadoram his son to king David, to Greet him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him; (for Hadadezer had wars with Tou;) and [he had with him] all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.     He sent his son Hadoram to King David, to give him words of peace and blessing, because he had overcome Hadadezer in the fight, for Hadadezer had been at war with Tou; and he gave him all sorts of vessels of gold and silver and brass.
 
11.    גם־אתם  הקדיש  המלך 
דויד  ליהוה
עם־הכסף  והזהב  אשר
נשא  מכל־הגוים
מאדום  וממואב
ומבני  עמון
ומפלשתים  ומעמלק׃
    Them also king David dedicated unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.     These also did king David dedicate to Yahweh, with the silver and the gold that he carried away from all the nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.     These King David made holy to the Lord, together with the silver and gold he had taken from all nations; from Edom and Moab and from the children of Ammon and from the Philistines and from Amalek.
 
12.    ואבשי  בן־צרויה 
הכה  את־אדום  בגיא
המלח  שמונה  עשר
אלף׃
    Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand.     Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah struck of the Edomites in the Valley of Salt eighteen thousand.     And when he came back from putting to the sword eighteen thousand of the Edomites in the Valley of Salt,
 
13.    וישם  באדום  נציבים 
ויהיו  כל־אדום
עבדים  לדויד  ויושע
יהוה  את־  דויד  בכל
אשר  הלך׃
    And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David's servants. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.     He put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became servants to David. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.     David put armed forces in all the towns of Edom; and all the Edomites became servants to David. The Lord made David overcome wherever he went.
 
14.    וימלך  דויד 
על־כל־ישראל  ויהי
עשה  משפט  וצדקה
לכל־עמו׃
    So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.     David reigned over all Israel; and he executed justice and righteousness to all his people.     So David was king over all Israel, judging and giving right decisions for all his people.
 
15.    ויואב  בן־צרויה 
על־הצבא  ויהושפט
בן־אחילוד  מזכיר׃
    And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, recorder.     Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;     And Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief of the army; and Jehoshaphat, son of Ahilud, was keeper of the records.
 
16.    וצדוק  בן־אחיטוב 
ואבימלך  בן־אביתר
כהנים  ושושא  סופר׃
    And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Shavsha was scribe;     and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Shavsha was scribe;     And Zadok, the son of Ahitub; and Ahimelech, the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Shavsha was the scribe;
 
17.    ובניהו  בן־יהוידע 
על־הכרתי  והפלתי
ובני־דויד  הראשנים
ליד  המלך׃
    And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.     and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.     And Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief of those whose places were at the king's side.
