ויאמר דויד המלך לכל־הקהל שלמה בני אחד בחר־בו אלהים נער ורך והמלאכה גדולה כי לא לאדם הבירה כי ליהוה אלהים׃ |
Furthermore David the king said unto all the congregation, Solomon my son, whom alone God hath chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great: for the palace is not for man, but for the LORD God. | David the king said to all the assembly, "Solomon my son, whom alone God has chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great; for the palace is not for man, but for Yahweh God. | And David the king said to all the people, Solomon my son, the only one who has been marked out by God, is still young and untested, and the work is great, for this great house is not for man, but for the Lord God. | |||

וככל־כחי הכינותי לבית־אלהי הזהב לזהב והכסף לכסף והנחשת לנחשת הברזל לברזל והעצים לעצים אבני־שהם ומלואים אבני־פוך ורקמה וכל אבן יקרה ואבני־שיש לרב׃ |
Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for things to be made of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the brass for things of brass, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood; onyx stones, and stones to be set, glistering stones, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance. | Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for the [things of] gold, and the silver for the [things of] silver, and the brass for the [things of] brass, the iron for the [things of] iron, and wood for the [things of] wood; onyx stones, and [stones] to be set, stones for inlaid work, and of various colors, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance. | Now as far as I am able, I have made ready what is needed for the house of my God; the gold for the things of gold, and the silver for the silver things, and the brass for the brass things, iron for the things of iron, and wood for the things of wood; beryls and jewels to be framed, and stones of different colours for ornament; all sorts of stones of great price, and polished building-stone, as much as is needed and more. | |||

ועוד ברצותי בבית אלהי יש־לי סגלה זהב וכסף נתתי לבית־אלהי למעלה מכל־הכינותי לבית הקדש׃ |
Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house, | In addition, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, seeing that I have a treasure of my own of gold and silver, I give it to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house, | And because this house of God is dear to me, I give my private store of gold and silver to the house of my God, in addition to all I have got ready for the holy house; | |||

לזהב לזהב ולכסף לכסף ולכל־מלאכה ביד חרשים ומי מתנדב למלאות ידו היום ליהוה׃ |
The gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all manner of work to be made by the hands of artificers. And who then is willing to consecrate his service this day unto the LORD? | of gold for the [things of] gold, and of silver for the [things of] silver, and for all manner of work [to be made] by the hands of artificers. ויתנו לעבודת בית־האלהים זהב ככרים חמשת־אלפים ואדרכנים רבו וכסף ככרים עשרת אלפים ונחשת רבו ושמונת אלפים ככרים וברזל מאה־ אלף ככרים׃ |

והנמצא אתו אבנים נתנו לאוצר בית־יהוה על יד־יחיאל הגרשני׃ |

וישמחו העם על־התנדבם כי בלב שלם התנדבו ליהוה וגם דויד המלך שמח שמחה גדולה׃ |
Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy. | Then the people rejoiced, because they offered willingly, because with a perfect heart they offered willingly to Yahweh: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy. | Then the people were glad because their offerings were freely given, for with a true heart they freely gave what they had to the Lord; and David the king was full of joy. | |||

Wherefore David blessed the LORD before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be thou, LORD God of Israel our father, for ever and ever. | Therefore David blessed Yahweh before all the assembly; and David said, "You are blessed, Yahweh, the God of Israel our father, forever and ever. | So David gave praise to the Lord before all the people; and David said, Praise be to you, O Lord the God of Israel, our father for ever and ever. | |||

לך יהוה הגדלה והגבורה והתפארת והנצח וההוד כי־כל בשמים ובארץ לך יהוה הממלכה והמתנשא לכל לראש׃ |
Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all. | Yours, Yahweh, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty! For all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. והעשר והכבוד מלפניך ואתה מושל בכל ובידך כח וגבורה ובידך לגדל ולחזק לכל׃ |

ועתה אלהינו מודים אנחנו לך ומהללים לשם תפארתך׃ |

וכי מי אני ומי עמי כי־נעצר כח להתנדב כזאת כי־ממך הכל ומידך נתנו לך׃ |
But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee. | But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you. | But who am I and what is my people, that we have power to give so freely in this way? for all things come from you, and what we have given you is yours. | |||

כי־גרים אנחנו לפניך ותושבים ככל־אבתינו כצל ימינו על־הארץ ואין מקוה׃ |
For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding. | For we are strangers before you, and foreigners, as all our fathers were. Our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no remaining. | For we, as all our fathers were, are like men from a strange country before you, who have got a place for a time in the land; our days on the earth are like a shade, and there is no hope of going on. | |||

יהוה אלהינו כל ההמון הזה אשר הכיננו לבנות־לך בית לשם קדשך מידך היא ולך הכל׃ |
O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own. | Yahweh our God, all this store that we have prepared to build you a house for your holy name comes from your hand, and is all your own. | O Lord our God, all this store, which we have made ready for the building of a house for your holy name, comes from your hand and is yours. | |||

וידעתי אלהי כי אתה בחן לבב ומישרים תרצה אני בישר לבבי התנדבתי כל־אלה ועתה עמך הנמצאו־פה ראיתי בשמחה להתנדב־לך׃ |
I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee. | I know also, my God, that you try the heart, and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things. Now have I seen with joy your people, that are present here, offer willingly to you. | And I am conscious, my God, that you are the searcher of hearts, taking pleasure in righteousness. ולשלמה בני תן לבב שלם לשמור מצותיך עדותיך וחקיך ולעשות הכל ולבנות הבירה אשר־הכינותי׃ |
And give unto Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the palace, for the which I have made provision. | and give to Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the palace, for which I have made provision." | And give to Solomon my son a true heart, to keep your orders, your rules, and your laws, and to do all these things, and to put up this great house for which I have made ready. | |||

ויאמר דויד לכל־הקהל ברכו־נא את־יהוה אלהיכם ויברכו כל־הקהל ליהוה אלהי אבתיהם ויקדו וישתחוו ליהוה ולמלך׃ |
And David said to all the congregation, Now bless the LORD your God. And all the congregation blessed the LORD God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and worshipped the LORD, and the king. | David said to all the assembly, "Now bless Yahweh your God!" All the assembly blessed Yahweh, the God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads and prostrated themselves before Yahweh and the king. | And David said to all the people, Now give praise to the Lord your God. ויזבחו ליהוה זבחים ויעלו עלות ליהוה למחרת היום ההוא פרים אלף אילים אלף כבשים אלף ונסכיהם וזבחים לרב לכל־ישראל׃ |
And they sacrificed sacrifices unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings unto the LORD, on the morrow after that day, even a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel: | They sacrificed sacrifices to Yahweh, and offered burnt offerings to Yahweh, on the next day after that day, even one thousand bulls, one thousand rams, and one thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel, | And they made offerings to the Lord, and gave burned offerings to the Lord, on the day after, a thousand oxen, a thousand sheep, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and a great wealth of offerings for all Israel. | |||

ויאכלו וישתו לפני יהוה ביום ההוא בשמחה גדולה וימליכו שנית לשלמה בן־דויד וימשחו ליהוה לנגיד ולצדוק לכהן׃ |
And did eat and drink before the LORD on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him unto the LORD to be the chief governor, and Zadok to be priest. | and ate and drink before Yahweh on that day with great gladness. ויגדל יהוה את־שלמה למעלה לעיני כל־ישראל ויתן עליו הוד מלכות אשר לא־היה על־כל־מלך לפניו על־ישראל׃ |
