ובשנה השבעית התחזק יהוידע ויקח את־שרי המאות לעזריהו בן־ירחם ולישמעאל בן־יהוחנן ולעזריהו בן־עובד ואת־מעשיהו בן־עדיהו ואת־ אלישפט בן־זכרי עמו בברית׃ |

והשלשית בבית המלך והשלשית בשער היסוד וכל־העם בחצרות בית יהוה׃ |
And a third part shall be at the king's house; and a third part at the gate of the foundation: and all the people shall be in the courts of the house of the LORD. | A third part shall be at the king's house; and a third part at the gate of the foundation. והקיפו הלוים את־המלך סביב איש וכליו בידו והבא אל־הבית יומת והיו את־המלך בבאו ובצאתו׃ |
And the Levites shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand; and whosoever else cometh into the house, he shall be put to death: but be ye with the king when he cometh in, and when he goeth out. | The Levites shall surround the king, every man with his weapons in his hand. Whoever comes into the house, let him be slain. ויעשו הלוים וכל־יהודה ככל אשר־צוה יהוידע הכהן ויקחו איש את־ אנשיו באי השבת עם יוצאי השבת כי לא פטר יהוידע הכהן את־המחלקות׃ |

And she looked, and, behold, the king stood at his pillar at the entering in, and the princes and the trumpets by the king: and all the people of the land rejoiced, and sounded with trumpets, also the singers with instruments of musick, and such as taught to sing praise. Then Athaliah rent her clothes, and said, Treason, Treason. | and she looked, and, behold, the king stood by his pillar at the entrance, and the captains and the trumpets by the king; and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew trumpets; the singers also played musical instruments, and led the singing of praise. ויוצא יהוידע הכהן את־שרי המאות פקודי החיל ויאמר אלהם הוציאוה אל־מבית השדרות והבא אחריה יומת בחרב כי אמר הכהן לא תמיתוה בית יהוה׃ |
Then Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains of hundreds that were set over the host, and said unto them, Have her forth of the ranges: and whoso followeth her, let him be slain with the sword. For the priest said, Slay her not in the house of the LORD. | Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains of hundreds who were set over the army, and said to them, "Bring her out between the ranks; and whoever follows her, let him be slain with the sword." וישימו לה ידים ותבוא אל־מבוא שער־הסוסים בית המלך וימיתוה שם׃ |
So they laid hands on her; and when she was come to the entering of the horse gate by the king's house, they slew her there. | So they made way for her.
