וידבר יהוה אל־משה לאמר׃ |

דבר אל־בני ישראל ואמרת אלהם כי תבאו אל־ארץ מושבתיכם אשר אני נתן לכם׃ |
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land of your habitations, which I give unto you, | "Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them, 'When you have come into the land of your habitations, which I give to you, | Say to the children of Israel, When you have come into the land which I am giving to you for your resting-place, | |||

ועשיתם אשה ליהוה עלה או־זבח לפלא־נדר או בנדבה או במעדיכם לעשות ריח ניחח ליהוה מן־הבקר או מן־הצאן׃ |
And will make an offering by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, or a sacrifice in performing a vow, or in a freewill offering, or in your solemn feasts, to make a sweet savour unto the LORD, of the herd, or of the flock: | and will make an offering by fire to Yahweh, a burnt offering, or a sacrifice, to accomplish a vow, or as a freewill offering, or in your set feasts, to make a pleasant aroma to Yahweh, of the herd, or of the flock; | And are going to make an offering by fire to the Lord, a burned offering or an offering in connection with an oath, or an offering freely given, or at your regular feasts, an offering for a sweet smell to the Lord, from the herd or the flock: | |||

והקריב המקריב קרבנו ליהוה מנחה סלת עשרון בלול ברבעית ההין שמן׃ |
Then shall he that offereth his offering unto the LORD bring a meat offering of a tenth deal of flour mingled with the fourth part of an hin of oil. | then he who offers his offering shall offer to Yahweh a meal offering of a tenth part [of an ephah] of fine flour mixed with the fourth part of a hin of oil: | Then let him who is making his offering, give to the Lord a meal offering of a tenth part of a measure of the best meal mixed with a fourth part of a hin of oil: | |||

ויין לנסך רביעית ההין תעשה על־העלה או לזבח לכבש האחד׃ |
And the fourth part of an hin of wine for a drink offering shalt thou prepare with the burnt offering or sacrifice, for one lamb. | and wine for the drink offering, the fourth part of a hin, you shall prepare with the burnt offering, or for the sacrifice, for each lamb. | And for the drink offering, you are to give with the burned offering or other offering, the fourth part of a hin of wine for every lamb. | |||

או לאיל תעשה מנחה סלת שני עשרנים בלולה בשמן שלשית ההין׃ |
Or for a ram, thou shalt prepare for a meat offering two tenth deals of flour mingled with the third part of an hin of oil. | "'Or for a ram, you shall prepare for a meal offering two tenth parts [of an ephah] of fine flour mixed with the third part of a hin of oil: | Or for a male sheep, give as a meal offering two tenth parts of a measure of the best meal mixed with a third part of a hin of oil: | |||

ויין לנסך שלשית ההין תקריב ריח־ניחח ליהוה׃ |
And for a drink offering thou shalt offer the third part of an hin of wine, for a sweet savour unto the LORD. | and for the drink offering you shall offer the third part of a hin of wine, of a pleasant aroma to Yahweh. | And for the drink offering give a third part of a hin of wine, for a sweet smell to the Lord. | |||

וכי־תעשה בן־בקר עלה או־זבח לפלא־נדר או־שלמים ליהוה׃ |
And when thou preparest a bullock for a burnt offering, or for a sacrifice in performing a vow, or peace offerings unto the LORD: | When you prepare a bull for a burnt offering, or for a sacrifice, to accomplish a vow, or for peace offerings to Yahweh; | And when you make ready a young ox for a burned or other offering, or for the effecting of an oath, or for peace-offerings to the Lord: | |||

והקריב על־בן־הבקר מנחה סלת שלשה עשרנים בלול בשמן חצי ההין׃ |
Then shall he bring with a bullock a meat offering of three tenth deals of flour mingled with half an hin of oil. | then shall he offer with the bull a meal offering of three tenth parts [of an ephah] of fine flour mixed with half a hin of oil: | Then with the ox give a meal offering of three tenth parts of a measure of the best meal mixed with half a hin of oil. | |||

ויין תקריב לנסך חצי ההין אשה ריח־ניחח ליהוה׃ |
And thou shalt bring for a drink offering half an hin of wine, for an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD. | and you shall offer for the drink offering half a hin of wine, for an offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to Yahweh. | And for the drink offering: give half a hin of wine, for an offering made by fire for a sweet smell to the Lord. | |||

ככה יעשה לשור האחד או לאיל האחד או־לשה בכבשים או בעזים׃ |
Thus shall it be done for one bullock, or for one ram, or for a lamb, or a kid. | Thus shall it be done for each bull, or for each ram, or for each of the male lambs, or of the young goats. | This is to be done for every young ox and for every male sheep or he-lamb or young goat. | |||

כמספר אשר תעשו ככה תעשו לאחד כמספרם׃ |
According to the number that ye shall prepare, so shall ye do to every one according to their number. | According to the number that you shall prepare, so you shall do to everyone according to their number. | Whatever number you make ready, so you are to do for every one. | |||

כל־האזרח יעשה־ככה את־אלה להקריב אשה ריח־ניחח ליהוה׃ |
All that are born of the country shall do these things after this manner, in offering an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD. | "'All who are native-born shall do these things after this manner, in offering an offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to Yahweh. | All those who are Israelites by birth are to do these things in this way, when giving an offering made by fire of a sweet smell to the Lord. | |||

וכי־יגור אתכם גר או אשר־בתוככם לדרתיכם ועשה אשה ריח־ניחח ליהוה כאשר תעשו כן יעשה׃ |
And if a stranger sojourn with you, or whosoever be among you in your generations, and will offer an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD; as ye do, so he shall do. | If a stranger lives as a foreigner with you, or whoever may be among you throughout your generations, and will offer an offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to Yahweh; as you do, so he shall do. | And if a man from another country or any other person living among you, through all your generations, has the desire to give an offering made by fire of a sweet smell to the Lord, let him do as you do. | |||

הקהל חקה אחת לכם ולגר הגר חקת עולם לדרתיכם ככם כגר יהיה לפני יהוה׃ |
One ordinance shall be both for you of the congregation, and also for the stranger that sojourneth with you, an ordinance for ever in your generations: as ye are, so shall the stranger be before the LORD. | For the assembly, there shall be one statute for you, and for the stranger who lives as a foreigner [with you], a statute forever throughout your generations: as you are, so shall the foreigner be before Yahweh. | There is to be one law for you and for the man of another country living with you, one law for ever from generation to generation; as you are, so is he to be before the Lord. | |||

תורה אחת ומשפט אחד יהיה לכם ולגר הגר אתכם׃ |
One law and one manner shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you. | One law and one ordinance shall be for you, and for the stranger who lives as a foreigner with you.'" | The law and the rule are to be the same for you and for those from other lands living with you. | |||

וידבר יהוה אל־משה לאמר׃ |
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, | Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, | And the Lord said to Moses, | |||

דבר אל־בני ישראל ואמרת אלהם בבאכם אל־הארץ אשר אני מביא אתכם שמה׃ |
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land whither I bring you, | "Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them, 'When you come into the land where I bring you, | Say to the children of Israel, When you come into the land where I am guiding you, | |||

והיה באכלכם מלחם הארץ תרימו תרומה ליהוה׃ |
Then it shall be, that, when ye eat of the bread of the land, ye shall offer up an heave offering unto the LORD. | then it shall be that when you eat of the bread of the land, you shall offer up a wave offering to Yahweh. | Then, when you take for your food the produce of the land, you are to give an offering lifted up before the Lord. | |||

ראשית ערסתכם חלה תרימו תרומה כתרומת גרן כן תרימו אתה׃ |
Ye shall offer up a cake of the first of your dough for an heave offering: as ye do the heave offering of the threshingfloor, so shall ye heave it. | Of the first of your dough you shall offer up a cake for a wave offering: as the wave offering of the threshing floor, so you shall heave it. | Of the first of your rough meal you are to give a cake for a lifted offering, lifting it up before the Lord as the offering of the grain-floor is lifted up. | |||

מראשית ערסתיכם תתנו ליהוה תרומה לדרתיכם׃ |
Of the first of your dough ye shall give unto the LORD an heave offering in your generations. | Of the first of your dough you shall give to Yahweh a wave offering throughout your generations. | From generation to generation you are to give to the Lord a lifted offering from the first of your rough meal. | |||

וכי תשגו ולא תעשו את כל־המצות האלה אשר־דבר יהוה אל־משה׃ |
And if ye have erred, and not observed all these commandments, which the LORD hath spoken unto Moses, | "'When you shall err, and not observe all these commandments, which Yahweh has spoken to Moses, | And if in error you go against any of these laws which the Lord has given to Moses, | |||

את כל־אשר צוה יהוה אליכם ביד־משה מן־היום אשר צוה יהוה והלאה לדרתיכם׃ |
Even all that the LORD hath commanded you by the hand of Moses, from the day that the LORD commanded Moses, and henceforward among your generations; | even all that Yahweh has commanded you by Moses, from the day that Yahweh gave commandment, and onward throughout your generations; | All the laws which the Lord has given you by the hand of Moses, from the day when the Lord gave them, and ever after from generation to generation; | |||

והיה אם מעיני העדה נעשתה לשגגה ועשו כל־העדה פר בן־בקר אחד לעלה לריח ניחח ליהוה ומנחתו ונסכו כמשפט ושעיר־עזים אחד לחטת׃ |
Then it shall be, if ought be committed by ignorance without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one young bullock for a burnt offering, for a sweet savour unto the LORD, with his meat offering, and his drink offering, according to the manner, and one kid of the goats for a sin offering. | then it shall be, if it be done unwittingly, without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one young bull for a burnt offering, for a pleasant aroma to Yahweh, with the meal offering of it, and the drink offering of it, according to the ordinance, and one male goat for a sin offering. | Then, if the wrong is done in error, without the knowledge of the meeting of the people, let all the meeting give a young ox as a burned offering, a sweet smell to the Lord, with its meal offering and its drink offering, as is ordered in the law, together with a he-goat for a sin-offering. | |||

וכפר הכהן על־כל־עדת בני ישראל ונסלח להם כי־שגגה הוא והם הביאו את־קרבנם אשה ליהוה וחטאתם לפני יהוה על־שגגתם׃ |
And the priest shall make an atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and it shall be forgiven them; for it is ignorance: and they shall bring their offering, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD, and their sin offering before the LORD, for their ignorance: | The priest shall make atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and they shall be forgiven; for it was an error, and they have brought their offering, an offering made by fire to Yahweh, and their sin offering before Yahweh, for their error: | So the priest will make the people free from sin, and they will have forgiveness; for it was an error, and they have given their offering made by fire to the Lord, and their sin-offering before the Lord, on account of their error: | |||

ונסלח לכל־עדת בני ישראל ולגר הגר בתוכם כי לכל־העם בשגגה׃ |
And it shall be forgiven all the congregation of the children of Israel, and the stranger that sojourneth among them; seeing all the people were in ignorance. | and all the congregation of the children of Israel shall be forgiven, and the stranger who lives as a foreigner among them; for in respect of all the people it was done unwittingly. | And all the meeting of the children of Israel, as well as those from other lands living among them, will have forgiveness; for it was an error on the part of the people. | |||

ואם־נפש אחת תחטא בשגגה והקריבה עז בת־שנתה לחטאת׃ |
And if any soul sin through ignorance, then he shall bring a she goat of the first year for a sin offering. | "'If one person sins unwittingly, then he shall offer a female goat a year old for a sin offering. | And if one person does wrong, without being conscious of it, then let him give a she-goat of the first year for a sin-offering. | |||

וכפר הכהן על־הנפש השגגת בחטאה בשגגה לפני יהוה לכפר עליו ונסלח לו׃ |
And the priest shall make an atonement for the soul that sinneth ignorantly, when he sinneth by ignorance before the LORD, to make an atonement for him; and it shall be forgiven him. | The priest shall make atonement for the soul who errs, when he sins unwittingly, before Yahweh, to make atonement for him; and he shall be forgiven. | And the priest will take away the sin of the person who has done wrong, if the wrong was done unconsciously, and he will have forgiveness. | |||

האזרח בבני ישראל ולגר הגר בתוכם תורה אחת יהיה לכם לעשה בשגגה׃ |
Ye shall have one law for him that sinneth through ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them. | You shall have one law for him who does anything unwittingly, for him who is native-born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger who lives as a foreigner among them. | The law in connection with wrong done unconsciously is to be the same for him who is an Israelite by birth and for the man from another country who is living among them. | |||

והנפש אשר־תעשה ביד רמה מן־האזרח ומן־הגר את־יהוה הוא מגדף ונכרתה הנפש ההוא מקרב עמה׃ |
But the soul that doeth ought presumptuously, whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproacheth the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people. | "'But the soul who does anything with a high hand, whether he is native-born or a foreigner, the same blasphemes Yahweh; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people. | But the person who does wrong in the pride of his heart, if he is one of you or of another nation by birth, is acting without respect for the Lord, and will be cut off from his people. | |||

כי דבר־יהוה בזה ואת־מצותו הפר הכרת תכרת הנפש ההוא עונה בה׃ |
Because he hath despised the word of the LORD, and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him. | Because he has despised the word of Yahweh, and has broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be on him.'" | Because he had no respect for the word of the Lord, and did not keep his law, that man will be cut off without mercy and his sin will be on him. | |||

ויהיו בני־ישראל במדבר וימצאו איש מקשש עצים ביום השבת׃ |
And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day. | While the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks on the Sabbath day. | Now while the children of Israel were in the waste land, they saw a man who was getting sticks on the Sabbath day. | |||

ויקריבו אתו המצאים אתו מקשש עצים אל־משה ואל־אהרן ואל כל־ העדה׃ |
And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation. | Those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron, and to all the congregation. | And those who saw him getting sticks took him before Moses and Aaron and all the people. | |||

ויניחו אתו במשמר כי לא פרש מה־יעשה לו׃ |
And they put him in ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him. | They put him in custody, because it had not been declared what should be done to him. | And they had him shut up, because they had no directions about what was to be done with him. | |||

ויאמר יהוה אל־משה מות יומת האיש רגום אתו באבנים כל־העדה מחוץ למחנה׃ |
And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp. | Yahweh said to Moses, "The man shall surely be put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside of the camp." | Then the Lord said to Moses, Certainly the man is to be put to death: let him be stoned by all the people outside the tent-circle. | |||

ויציאו אתו כל־העדה אל־מחוץ למחנה וירגמו אתו באבנים וימת כאשר צוה יהוה את־משה׃ |
And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses. | All the congregation brought him outside of the camp, and stoned him to death with stones; as Yahweh commanded Moses. | So all the people took him outside the tent-circle and he was stoned to death there, as the Lord gave orders to Moses. | |||

ויאמר יהוה אל־משה לאמר׃ |
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, | Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, | And the Lord said to Moses, | |||
| 38. |
דבר אל־בני ישראל ואמרת אלהם ועשו להם ציצת על־כנפי בגדיהם לדרתם ונתנו על־ציצת הכנף פתיל תכלת׃ |
Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue: | "Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them that they should make themselves fringes{or, tassels (Hebrew tzitzit)} in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put on the fringe{or, tassel} of each border a cord of blue: | Say to the children of Israel that through all their generations they are to put on the edges of their robes an ornament of twisted threads, and in every ornament a blue cord; | |||

והיה לכם לציצת וראיתם אתו וזכרתם את־כל־מצות יהוה ועשיתם אתם ולא־תתורו אחרי לבבכם ואחרי עיניכם אשר־אתם זנים אחריהם׃ |
And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring: | and it shall be to you for a fringe{or, tassel}, that you may look on it, and remember all the commandments of Yahweh, and do them; and that you not follow after your own heart and your own eyes, after which you use to play the prostitute; | So that, looking on these ornaments, you may keep in mind the orders of the Lord and do them; and not be guided by the desires of your hearts and eyes, through which you have been untrue to me: | |||

למען תזכרו ועשיתם את־כל־מצותי והייתם קדשים לאלהיכם׃ |
That ye may remember, and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God. | that you may remember and do all my commandments, and be holy to your God. | And that you may keep in mind all my orders and do them and be holy to your God. | |||

אני יהוה אלהיכם אשר הוצאתי אתכם מארץ מצרים להיות לכם לאלהים אני יהוה אלהיכם׃ |
I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD your God. | I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am Yahweh your God." | I am the Lord your God, who took you out of the land of Egypt, so that I might be your God: I am the Lord your God. | |||
