אלה דברי הברית אשר־צוה יהוה את־משה לכרת את־בני ישראל בארץ מואב מלבד הברית אשר־כרת אתם בחרב׃ |

ויקרא משה אל־כל־ישראל ויאמר אלהם אתם ראיתם את כל־אשר עשה יהוה לעיניכם בארץ מצרים לפרעה ולכל־עבדיו ולכל־ארצו׃ |

ולא־נתן יהוה לכם לב לדעת ועינים לראות ואזנים לשמע עד היום הזה׃ |
Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day. | but Yahweh has not given you a heart to know, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, to this day. | But even to this day the Lord has not given you a mind open to knowledge, or seeing eyes or hearing ears. | |||

ואולך אתכם ארבעים שנה במדבר לא־בלו שלמתיכם מעליכם ונעלך לא־ בלתה מעל רגלך׃ |
And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot. | I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes have not grown old on you, and your shoes have not grown old on your feet. | For forty years I have been your guide through the waste land: your clothing has not become old on your backs, or your shoes on your feet. | |||

ותבאו אל־המקום הזה ויצא סיחן מלך־חשבון ועוג מלך־הבשן לקראתנו למלחמה ונכם׃ |

ושמרתם את־דברי הברית הזאת ועשיתם אתם למען תשכילו את כל־אשר תעשון׃ |

Ye stand this day all of you before the LORD your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel, | You stand this day all of you before Yahweh your God; your heads, your tribes, your elders, and your officers, even all the men of Israel, | You have come here today, all of you, before the Lord your God; the heads of your tribes, the overseers, and those who are in authority over you, with all the men of Israel, | |||

טפכם נשיכם וגרך אשר בקרב מחניך מחטב עציך עד שאב מימיך׃ |
Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water: | your little ones, your wives, and your foreigner who is in the midst of your camps, from the one who cuts your wood to the one who draws your water; | And your little ones, your wives, and the men of other lands who are with you in your tents, down to the wood-cutter and the servant who gets water for you: | |||

לעברך בברית יהוה אלהיך ובאלתו אשר יהוה אלהיך כרת עמך היום׃ |
That thou shouldest enter into covenant with the LORD thy God, and into his oath, which the LORD thy God maketh with thee this day: | that you may enter into the covenant of Yahweh your God, and into his oath, which Yahweh your God makes with you this day; | With the purpose of taking part in the agreement of the Lord your God, and his oath which he makes with you today: | |||

למען הקים־אתך היום לו לעם והוא יהיה־לך לאלהים כאשר דבר־לך וכאשר נשבע לאבתיך לאברהם ליצחק וליעקב׃ |
That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. | that he may establish you this day to himself for a people, and that he may be to you a God, as he spoke to you, and as he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. | And so that he may make you his people today, and be your God, as he has said to you, and as he made an oath to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. | |||

כי את־אשר ישנו פה עמנו עמד היום לפני יהוה אלהינו ואת אשר איננו פה עמנו היום׃ |
But with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day: | but with him who stands here with us this day before Yahweh our God, and also with him who is not here with us this day | But with everyone who is here with us today before the Lord our God, as well as with those who are not here: | |||

כי־אתם ידעתם את אשר־ישבנו בארץ מצרים ואת אשר־עברנו בקרב הגוים אשר עברתם׃ |
(For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which ye passed by; | (for you know how we lived in the land of Egypt, and how we came through the midst of the nations through which you passed; | (For you have in mind how we were living in the land of Egypt; and how we came through all the nations which were on your way; | |||

ותראו את־שקוציהם ואת גלליהם עץ ואבן כסף וזהב אשר עמהם׃ |
And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them:) | and you have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them); | And you have seen their disgusting doings, and the images of wood and stone and silver and gold which were among them:) | |||

פן־יש בכם איש או־אשה או משפחה או־שבט אשר לבבו פנה היום מעם יהוה אלהינו ללכת לעבד את־אלהי הגוים ההם פן־יש בכם שרש פרה ראש ולענה׃ |
Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood; | lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turns away this day from Yahweh our God, to go to serve the gods of those nations; lest there should be among you a root that bears gall and wormwood; | So that there may not be among you any man or woman or family or tribe whose heart is turned away from the Lord our God today, to go after other gods and give them worship; or any root among you whose fruit is poison and bitter sorrow; | |||

והיה בשמעו את־דברי האלה הזאת והתברך בלבבו לאמר שלום יהיה־לי כי בשררות לבי אלך למען ספות הרוה את־הצמאה׃ |
And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst: | and it happen, when he hears the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, "I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart, to destroy the moist with the dry." | If such a man, hearing the words of this oath, takes comfort in the thought that he will have peace even if he goes on in the pride of his heart, taking whatever chance may give him: | |||

לא־יאבה יהוה סלח לו כי אז יעשן אף־יהוה וקנאתו באיש ההוא ורבצה בו כל־האלה הכתובה בספר הזה ומחה יהוה את־שמו מתחת השמים׃ |
The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven. | Yahweh will not pardon him, but then the anger of Yahweh and his jealousy will smoke against that man, and all the curse that is written in this book shall lie on him, and Yahweh will blot out his name from under the sky. | The Lord will have no mercy on him, but the wrath of the Lord will be burning against that man, and all the curses recorded in this book will be waiting for him, and the Lord will take away his name completely from the earth. | |||

והבדילו יהוה לרעה מכל שבטי ישראל ככל אלות הברית הכתובה בספר התורה הזה׃ |
And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law: | Yahweh will set him apart to evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that is written in this book of the law. | He will be marked out by the Lord, from all the tribes of Israel, for an evil fate, in keeping with all the curses of the agreement recorded in this book of the law. | |||

ואמר הדור האחרון בניכם אשר יקומו מאחריכם והנכרי אשר יבא מארץ רחוקה וראו את־מכות הארץ ההוא ואת־תחלאיה אשר־חלה יהוה בה׃ |
So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD hath laid upon it; | The generation to come, your children who shall rise up after you, and the foreigner who shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses with which Yahweh has made it sick; | And future generations, your children coming after you, and travellers from far countries, will say, when they see the punishments of that land and the diseases which the Lord has sent on it; | |||

גפרית ומלח שרפה כל־ארצה לא תזרע ולא תצמח ולא־יעלה בה כל־עשב כמהפכת סדם ועמרה אדמה וצביים אשר הפך יהוה באפו ובחמתו׃ |
And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath: | [and that] the whole land of it is sulfur, and salt, [and] a burning, [that] it is not sown, nor bears, nor any grass grows therein, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which Yahweh overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath: | And that all the land is a salt and smoking waste, not planted or giving fruit or clothed with grass, but wasted like Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, on which the Lord sent destruction in the heat of his wrath: | |||

ואמרו כל־הגוים על־מה עשה יהוה ככה לארץ הזאת מה חרי האף הגדול הזה׃ |
Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger? | even all the nations shall say, "Why has Yahweh done thus to this land? What does the heat of this great anger mean?" | Truly all the nations will say, Why has the Lord done so to this land? what is the reason for this great and burning wrath? | |||

ואמרו על אשר עזבו את־ברית יהוה אלהי אבתם אשר כרת עמם בהוציאו אתם מארץ מצרים׃ |
Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt: | Then men shall say, "Because they forsook the covenant of Yahweh, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, | Then men will say, Because they gave up the agreement of the Lord, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he took them out of the land of Egypt: | |||

וילכו ויעבדו אלהים אחרים וישתחוו להם אלהים אשר לא־ידעום ולא חלק להם׃ |
For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them: | and went and served other gods, and worshiped them, gods that they didn't know, and that he had not given to them: | And they went after other gods and gave them worship, gods who were strange to them, and whom he had not given them: | |||

ויחר־אף יהוה בארץ ההוא להביא עליה את־כל־הקללה הכתובה בספר הזה׃ |
And the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book: | therefore the anger of Yahweh was kindled against this land, to bring on it all the curse that is written in this book; | And so the wrath of the Lord was moved against this land, to send on it all the curse recorded in this book: | |||

ויתשם יהוה מעל אדמתם באף ובחמה ובקצף גדול וישלכם אל־ארץ אחרת כיום הזה׃ |
And the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day. | and Yahweh rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as at this day." | Rooting them out of their land, in the heat of his wrath and passion, and driving them out into another land, as at this day. | |||

הנסתרת ליהוה אלהינו והנגלת לנו ולבנינו עד־עולם לעשות את־כל־ דברי התורה הזאת׃ |
The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law. | The secret things belong to Yahweh our God; but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law. | The secret things are the Lord our God's: but the things which have been made clear are ours and our children's for ever, so that we may do all the words of this law. | |||
