ויהי מימים רבים אחרי אשר־הניח יהוה לישראל מכל־איביהם מסביב ויהושע זקן בא בימים׃ |

ויקרא יהושע לכל־ישראל לזקניו ולראשיו ולשפטיו ולשטריו ויאמר אלהם אני זקנתי באתי בימים׃ |

ואתם ראיתם את כל־אשר עשה יהוה אלהיכם לכל־הגוים האלה מפניכם כי יהוה אלהיכם הוא הנלחם לכם׃ |
And ye have seen all that the LORD your God hath done unto all these nations because of you; for the LORD your God is he that hath fought for you. | You have seen all that Yahweh your God has done to all these nations because of you; for it is Yahweh your God who has fought for you. | You have seen everything the Lord your God has done to all these nations because of you; for it is the Lord your God who has been fighting for you. | |||

ראו הפלתי לכם את־הגוים הנשארים האלה בנחלה לשבטיכם מן־הירדן וכל־הגוים אשר הכרתי והים הגדול מבוא השמש׃ |
Behold, I have divided unto you by lot these nations that remain, to be an inheritance for your tribes, from Jordan, with all the nations that I have cut off, even unto the great sea westward. | Behold, I have allotted to you these nations that remain, to be an inheritance for your tribes, from the Jordan, with all the nations that I have cut off, even to the great sea toward the going down of the sun. | Now I have given to you, as the heritage of your tribes, all these nations which are still in the land, together with those cut off by me, from Jordan as far as the Great Sea on the west. | |||

ויהוה אלהיכם הוא יהדפם מפניכם והוריש אתם מלפניכם וירשתם את־ ארצם כאשר דבר יהוה אלהיכם לכם׃ |
And the LORD your God, he shall expel them from before you, and drive them from out of your sight; and ye shall possess their land, as the LORD your God hath promised unto you. | Yahweh your God will thrust them out from before you, and drive them from out of your sight. וחזקתם מאד לשמר ולעשות את כל־הכתוב בספר תורת משה לבלתי סור־ ממנו ימין ושמאול׃ |
Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside therefrom to the right hand or to the left; | "Therefore be very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that you not turn aside from it to the right hand or to the left; | So be very strong to keep and do whatever is recorded in the book of the law of Moses, not turning away from it to the right or to the left; | |||

לבלתי־בוא בגוים האלה הנשארים האלה אתכם ובשם אלהיהם לא־תזכירו ולא תשביעו ולא תעבדום ולא תשתחוו להם׃ |
That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them: | that you not come among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow down yourselves to them; | Have nothing to do with these nations who still are living among you; let not their gods be named by you or used in your oaths; do not be their servants or give them worship: | |||

כי אם־ביהוה אלהיכם תדבקו כאשר עשיתם עד היום הזה׃ |
But cleave unto the LORD your God, as ye have done unto this day. | but hold fast to Yahweh your God, as you have done to this day. | But be true to the Lord your God as you have been till this day. | |||

ויורש יהוה מפניכם גוים גדלים ועצומים ואתם לא־עמד איש בפניכם עד היום הזה׃ |
For the LORD hath driven out from before you great nations and strong: but as for you, no man hath been able to stand before you unto this day. | "For Yahweh has driven great and strong nations out from before you. But as for you, no man has stood before you to this day. | For the Lord has sent out from before you nations great and strong: and they have all given way before you till this day. | |||

איש־אחד מכם ירדף־אלף כי יהוה אלהיכם הוא הנלחם לכם כאשר דבר לכם׃ |
One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, he it is that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you. | One man of you shall chase a thousand; for it is Yahweh your God who fights for you, as he spoke to you. | One man of you is able to put to flight a thousand; for it is the Lord your God who is fighting for you, as he has said to you. | |||

ונשמרתם מאד לנפשתיכם לאהבה את־יהוה אלהיכם׃ |
Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love the LORD your God. | Take good heed therefore to yourselves, that you love Yahweh your God. | So keep watch on yourselves, and see that you have love for the Lord your God. | |||

כי אם־שוב תשובו ודבקתם ביתר הגוים האלה הנשארים האלה אתכם והתחתנתם בהם ובאתם בהם והם בכם׃ |
Else if ye do in any wise go back, and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, even these that remain among you, and shall make marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you: | "But if you do at all go back, and hold fast to the remnant of these nations, even these who remain among you, and make marriages with them, and go in to them, and they to you; | For if you go back, joining yourselves to the rest of these nations who are still among you, getting married to them and living with them and they with you: | |||

ידוע תדעו כי לא יוסיף יהוה אלהיכם להוריש את־הגוים האלה מלפניכם והיו לכם לפח ולמוקש ולשטט בצדיכם ולצננים בעיניכם עד־ אבדכם מעל האדמה הטובה הזאת אשר נתן לכם יהוה אלהיכם׃ |
Know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no more drive out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you. | know for a certainty that Yahweh your God will no longer drive these nations from out of your sight; but they shall be a snare and a trap to you, a scourge in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from off this good land which Yahweh your God has given you. | Then you may be certain that the Lord your God will not go on driving these nations out from before you; but they will become a danger and a cause of sin to you, a whip for your sides and thorns in your eyes, till you are cut off from this good land which the Lord your God has given you. | |||

והנה אנכי הולך היום בדרך כל־הארץ וידעתם בכל־לבבכם ובכל־נפשכם כי לא־נפל דבר אחד מכל הדברים הטובים אשר דבר יהוה אלהיכם עליכם הכל באו לכם לא־נפל ממנו דבר אחד׃ |
And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof. | "Behold, today I am going the way of all the earth. You know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which Yahweh your God spoke concerning you. All have happened to you. Not one thing has failed of it. | Now I am about to go the way of all the earth: and you have seen and are certain, all of you, in your hearts and souls, that in all the good things which the Lord said about you, he has kept faith with you; everything has come true for you. | |||

והיה כאשר־בא עליכם כל־הדבר הטוב אשר דבר יהוה אלהיכם אליכם כן יביא יהוה עליכם את כל־הדבר הרע עד־השמידו אותכם מעל האדמה הטובה הזאת אשר נתן לכם יהוה אלהיכם׃ |
Therefore it shall come to pass, that as all good things are come upon you, which the LORD your God promised you; so shall the LORD bring upon you all evil things, until he have destroyed you from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you. | It shall happen that as all the good things have come on you of which Yahweh your God spoke to you, so Yahweh will bring on you all the evil things, until he has destroyed you from off this good land which Yahweh your God has given you, | And you will see that, as all the good things which the Lord your God undertook to do for you, have come to you, so the Lord will send down on you all the evil things till he has made your destruction complete, and you are cut off from the good land which the Lord your God has given you. | |||

בעברכם את־ברית יהוה אלהיכם אשר צוה אתכם והלכתם ועבדתם אלהים אחרים והשתחויתם להם וחרה אף־יהוה בכם ואבדתם מהרה מעל הארץ הטובה אשר נתן לכם׃ |
When ye have transgressed the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them; then shall the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land which he hath given unto you. | when you disobey the covenant of Yahweh your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods, and bow down yourselves to them. Then the anger of Yahweh will be kindled against you, and you will perish quickly from off the good land which he has given to you." | If the agreement of the Lord your God, which was given to you by his orders, is broken, and you become the servants of other gods and give them worship, then the wrath of the Lord will be burning against you, and you will quickly be cut off from the good land which he has given you. | |||
