1.    Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place, and strengthened himself against Israel.     And Jehoshaphat his son became king in his place, and made himself strong against Israel.     And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.
 
2.    He placed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.     He put forces in all the walled towns of Judah, and responsible chiefs in the land of Judah and in the towns of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.     And he placed forces in all the fenced cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.
 
3.    Yahweh was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and didn't seek the Baals,     And the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he went in the early ways of his father, not turning to the Baals,     And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;
 
4.    but sought to the God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.     But turning to the God of his father and keeping his laws, and not doing as Israel did.     But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
 
5.    Therefore Yahweh established the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat tribute; and he had riches and honor in abundance.     So the Lord made his kingdom strong; and all Judah gave offerings to Jehoshaphat, and he had great wealth and honour.     Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.
 
6.    His heart was lifted up in the ways of Yahweh: and furthermore he took away the high places and the Asherim out of Judah.     His heart was lifted up in the ways of the Lord; and he went so far as to take away the high places and the wood pillars out of Judah.     And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.
 
7.    Also in the third year of his reign he sent his princes, even Ben Hail, and Obadiah, and Zechariah, and Nethanel, and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah;     In the third year of his rule he sent Benhail and Obadiah and Zechariah and Nethanel and Micaiah, his captains, as teachers into the towns of Judah;     Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Benhail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.
 
8.    and with them the Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.     And with them, Shemaiah and Nethaniah and Zebadiah and Asahel and Shemiramoth and Jehonathan and Adonijah and Tobijah and Tob-adonijah, the Levites; and Elishama and Jehoram the priests.     And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.
 
9.    They taught in Judah, having the book of the law of Yahweh with them; and they went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught among the people.     And they gave teaching in Judah and had the book of the law of the Lord with them; they went through all the towns of Judah teaching the people.     And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.

11.    Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and silver for tribute; the Arabians also brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred male goats.     And some of the Philistines took offerings to Jehoshaphat, and made him payments of silver; and the Arabians gave him flocks, seven thousand, seven hundred sheep, and seven thousand, seven hundred he-goats.     Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.
 
12.    Jehoshaphat grew great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles and cities of store.     Jehoshaphat became greater and greater, and made strong towers and store-towns in Judah.     And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.
 
13.    He had many works in the cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty men of valor, in Jerusalem.     He had much property in the towns of Judah; he had forces of armed men, great and strong, in Jerusalem.     And he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men of war, mighty men of valour, were in Jerusalem.
 
14.    This was the numbering of them according to their fathers' houses: Of Judah, the captains of thousands: Adnah the captain, and with him mighty men of valor three hundred thousand;     This is the number of them, listed by their families, the captains of thousands of Judah: Adnah, the captain, and with him three hundred thousand men of war;     And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valour three hundred thousand.
 
15.    and next to him Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred eighty thousand;     Second to him Jehohanan, the captain, and with him two hundred and eighty thousand;     And next to him was Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and fourscore thousand.
 
16.    and next to him Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself to Yahweh; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.     After him Amasiah, the son of Zichri, who freely gave himself to the Lord, and with him two hundred thousand men of war;     And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.
 
17.    Of Benjamin: Eliada a mighty man of valor, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield;     And the captains of Benjamin: Eliada, a great man of war, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bows and body-covers;     And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valour, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.
 
18.    and next to him Jehozabad and with him one hundred eighty thousand ready prepared for war.     And after him Jehozabad, and with him a hundred and eighty thousand trained for war.     And next him was Jehozabad, and with him an hundred and fourscore thousand ready prepared for the war.
 
19.    These were those who waited on the king, besides those whom the king put in the fortified cities throughout all Judah.     These were the men who were waiting on the king, in addition to those placed by the king in the walled towns through all Judah.     These waited on the king, beside those whom the king put in the fenced cities throughout all Judah.
