A Song of the going up. Lord, give thought to David, and to all his troubles; |
Lord, remember David, and all his afflictions: | ||
| 2. | how he swore to Yahweh, and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob: | How he made an oath to the Lord, and gave his word to the great God of Jacob, saying, | How he sware unto the LORD, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob; | ||
| 3. | "Surely I will not come into the structure of my house, nor go up into my bed; | Truly, I will not come into my house, or go to my bed, | Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed; | ||
| 4. | I will not give sleep to my eyes, or slumber to my eyelids; | I will not give sleep to my eyes, or rest to my eyeballs, | I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids, | ||
| 5. | until I find out a place for Yahweh, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob." | Till I have got a place for the Lord, a resting-place for the great God of Jacob. | Until I find out a place for the LORD, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob. | ||

He will not turn from it: "I will set the fruit of your body on your throne. | The Lord gave a true oath to David, which he will not take back, saying, I will give your kingdom to the fruit of your body. | The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne. | ||
| 12. | If your children will keep my covenant, my testimony that I will teach them, their children also will sit on your throne forevermore." | If your children keep my word, and the teachings which I will give them, their children will be rulers of your kingdom for ever. | If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore. | ||
