| 1. | {A Psalm. A song for the Sabbath day.} It is a good thing to give thanks to Yahweh, to sing praises to your name, Most High; | A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath. | IT IS A GOOD THING TO GIVE THANKS UNTO THE LORD, AND TO SING PRAISES UNTO THY NAME, O MOST HIGH: | ||
| 2. | to proclaim your loving kindness in the morning, and your faithfulness every night, | It is a good thing to give praise to the Lord, and to make melody to your name, O Most High; | To shew forth thy loving-kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, | ||
| 3. | with the ten-stringed lute, with the harp, and with the melody of the lyre. | To make clear your mercy in the morning, and your unchanging faith every night; | Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. | ||
| 4. | For you, Yahweh, have made me glad through your work. I will triumph in the works of your hands. | On a ten-corded instrument, and on an instrument of music with a quiet sound. | For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. | ||
| 5. | How great are your works, Yahweh! Your thoughts are very deep. | For you, O Lord, have made me glad through your work; I will have joy in the works of your hands. | O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep. | ||
| 6. | A senseless man doesn't know, neither does a fool understand this: | O Lord, how great are your works! and your thoughts are very deep. | A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this. | ||
| 7. | though the wicked spring up as the grass, and all the evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever. | A man without sense has no knowledge of this; and a foolish man may not take it in. | When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever: | ||
| 8. | But you, Yahweh, are on high forevermore. | When the sinners come up like the grass, and all the workers of evil do well for themselves, it is so that their end may be eternal destruction. | But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore. | ||
| 9. | For, behold, your enemies, Yahweh, for, behold, your enemies shall perish. All the evildoers will be scattered. | But you, O Lord, are on high for ever. | For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. | ||
| 10. | But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox. I am anointed with fresh oil. | For see! your haters, O Lord, will be put to death; all the workers of evil will be put to flight; | But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil. | ||
| 11. | My eye has also seen my enemies. My ears have heard of the wicked enemies who rise up against me. | But my horn is lifted up like the horn of the ox: the best oil is flowing on my head. | Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me. | ||
| 12. | The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree. He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon. | My eyes have seen trouble come on my haters; my ears have news of the fate of the evil-doers who have come up against me. | The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. | ||
| 13. | They are planted in Yahweh's house. They will flourish in our God's courts. | The good man will be like a tall tree in his strength; his growth will be as the wide-stretching trees of Lebanon. | Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. | ||
| 14. | They will still bring forth fruit in old age. They will be full of sap and green, | Those who are planted in the house of the Lord will come up tall and strong in his gardens. | They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; | ||
| 15. | to show that Yahweh is upright. He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him. | They will give fruit even when they are old; they will be fertile and full of growth; | To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him. | ||
