    VYThChThN ShLMH 'aTh-PhUr'yH MLK MTShUrYM VYQCh 'aTh-BTh-PhUr'yH VYBY'aH 'aL-'yYUr DVD 'yD KLThV LBNVTh 'aTh-BYThV V'aTh-BYTh YHVH V'aTh-ChVMTh YUrVShLM SBYB.     And Solomon joineth in marriage with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and taketh the daughter of Pharaoh, and bringeth her in unto the city of David, till he completeth to build his own house, and the house of Jehovah, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.     confirmatum est igitur regnum in manu Salomonis et adfinitate coniunctus est Pharaoni regi Aegypti accepit namque filiam eius et adduxit in civitatem David donec conpleret aedificans domum suam et domum Domini et murum Hierusalem per circuitum

6.    Solomon said, "You have shown to your servant David my father great loving kindness, according as he walked before you in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with you. You have kept for him this great loving kindness, that you have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.     And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.     ויאמר  שלמה  אתה 
עשית  עם־עבדך  דוד
אבי  חסד  גדול  כאשר
הלך  לפניך  באמת
ובצדקה  ובישרת  לבב
עמך  ותשמר־לו
את־החסד  הגדול  הזה
ותתן־לו  בן  ישב
על־כסאו  כיום  הזה׃
    VY'aMUr ShLMH 'aThH 'yShYTh 'yM-'yBDK DVD 'aBY ChSD GDVL K'aShUr HLK LPhNYK B'aMTh VBTShDQH VBYShUrTh LBB 'yMK VThShMUr-LV 'aTh-HChSD HGDVL HZH VThThN-LV BN YShB 'yL-KS'aV KYVM HZH.     And Solomon saith, `Thou hast done with Thy servant David my father great kindness, as he walked before Thee in truth and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with Thee, and Thou dost keep for him this great kindness, and dost give to him a son sitting on his throne, as at this day.     et ait Salomon tu fecisti cum servo tuo David patre meo misericordiam magnam sicut ambulavit in conspectu tuo in veritate et iustitia et recto corde tecum custodisti ei misericordiam tuam grandem et dedisti ei filium sedentem super thronum eius sicut et hodie
 
7.    Now, Yahweh my God, you have made your servant king instead of David my father. I am but a little child. I don't know how to go out or come in.     And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.     ועתה  יהוה  אלהי

8.    Your servant is in the midst of your people which you have chosen, a great people, that can't be numbered nor counted for multitude.     And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.     ועבדך  בתוך  עמך 
אשר  בחרת  עם־רב
אשר  לא־ימנה  ולא
יספר  מרב׃
    V'yBDK BThVK 'yMK 'aShUr BChUrTh 'yM-UrB 'aShUr L'a-YMNH VL'a YSPhUr MUrB.     and Thy servant is in the midst of thy people, whom Thou hast chosen, a people numerous, that is not numbered nor counted for multitude,     et servus tuus in medio est populi quem elegisti populi infiniti qui numerari et supputari non potest prae multitudine
 
9.    Give your servant therefore an understanding heart to judge your people, that I may discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this your great people?"     Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?     ונתת  לעבדך  לב  שמע 
לשפט  את־עמך  להבין
בין־טוב  לרע  כי  מי
יוכל  לשפט  את־עמך
הכבד  הזה׃
    VNThTh L'yBDK LB ShM'y LShPhT 'aTh-'yMK LHBYN BYN-TVB LUr'y KY MY YVKL LShPhT 'aTh-'yMK HKBD HZH.     and Thou hast given to Thy servant an understanding heart, to judge Thy people, to discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this Thy great people?`     dabis ergo servo tuo cor docile ut iudicare possit populum tuum et discernere inter malum et bonum quis enim potest iudicare populum istum populum tuum hunc multum
 
10.    The speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.     And the speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing.     וייטב  הדבר  בעיני 
אדני  כי  שאל  שלמה
את־הדבר  הזה׃
    VYYTB HDBUr B'yYNY 'aDNY KY Sh'aL ShLMH 'aTh-HDBUr HZH.     And the thing is good in the eyes of the Lord, that Solomon hath asked this thing,     placuit ergo sermo coram Domino quod Salomon rem huiuscemodi postulasset
 
11.    God said to him, "Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life, neither have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice;     And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;     ויאמר  אלהים  אליו 
יען  אשר  שאלת
את־הדבר  הזה
ולא־שאלת  לך  ימים
רבים  ולא־שאלת  לך
עשר  ולא  שאלת  נפש
איביך  ושאלת  לך
הבין  לשמע  משפט׃
    VY'aMUr 'aLHYM 'aLYV Y'yN 'aShUr Sh'aLTh 'aTh-HDBUr HZH VL'a-Sh'aLTh LK YMYM UrBYM VL'a-Sh'aLTh LK 'yShUr VL'a Sh'aLTh NPhSh 'aYBYK VSh'aLTh LK HBYN LShM'y MShPhT.     and God saith unto him, `Because that thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thee many days, nor asked for thee riches, nor asked the life of thine enemies, and hast asked for thee discernment to understand judgment,     et dixit Deus Salomoni quia postulasti verbum hoc et non petisti tibi dies multos nec divitias aut animam inimicorum tuorum sed postulasti tibi sapientiam ad discernendum iudicium
 
12.    behold, I have done according to your word. Behold, I have given you a wise and an understanding heart; so that there has been none like you before you, neither after you shall any arise like you.     Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.     הנה  עשיתי  כדבריך 
הנה  נתתי  לך  לב
חכם  ונבון  אשר
כמוך  לא־היה  לפניך
ואחריך  לא־יקום
כמוך׃
    HNH 'yShYThY KDBUrYK HNH NThThY LK LB ChKM VNBVN 'aShUr KMVK L'a-HYH LPhNYK V'aChUrYK L'a-YQVM KMVK.     lo, I have done according to thy words; lo, I have given to thee a heart, wise and understanding, that like thee there hath not been before thee, and after thee there doth not arise like thee;     ecce feci tibi secundum sermones tuos et dedi tibi cor sapiens et intellegens in tantum ut nullus ante te similis tui fuerit nec post te surrecturus sit
 
13.    I have also given you that which you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there shall not be any among the kings like you, all your days.     And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.     וגם  אשר  לא־שאלת 
נתתי  לך  גם־עשר
גם־כבוד  אשר
לא־היה  כמוך  איש
במלכים  כל־ימיך׃
    VGM 'aShUr L'a-Sh'aLTh NThThY LK GM-'yShUr GM-KBVD 'aShUr L'a-HYH KMVK 'aYSh BMLKYM KL-YMYK.     and also, that which thou hast not asked I have given to thee, both riches and honour, that there hath not been like thee a man among the kings all thy days;     sed et haec quae non postulasti dedi tibi divitias scilicet et gloriam ut nemo fuerit similis tui in regibus cunctis retro diebus
 
14.    If you will walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days."     And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.     ואם  תלך  בדרכי 
לשמר  חקי  ומצותי
כאשר  הלך  דויד
אביך  והארכתי  את־
ימיך׃
    V'aM ThLK BDUrKY LShMUr ChQY VMTShVThY K'aShUr HLK DVYD 'aBYK VH'aUrKThY 'aTh- YMYK.     and if thou dost walk in My ways to keep My statutes, and My commands, as David thy father walked, then I have prolonged thy days.`     si autem ambulaveris in viis meis et custodieris praecepta mea et mandata mea sicut ambulavit pater tuus longos faciam dies tuos
 
15.    Solomon awoke; and behold, it was a dream. Then he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, and offered up burnt offerings, offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.     And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream.     VYQTSh ShLMH VHNH ChLVM VYBV'a YUrVShLM VY'yMD LPhNY 'aUrVN BUrYTh-'aDNY VY'yL 'yLVTh VY'ySh ShLMYM VY'ySh MShThH LKL-'yBDYV.     And Solomon awaketh, and lo, a dream; and he cometh in to Jerusalem, and standeth before the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and causeth to ascend burnt-offerings, and maketh peace-offerings. And he maketh a banquet for all his servants,     igitur evigilavit Salomon et intellexit quod esset somnium cumque venisset Hierusalem stetit coram arca foederis Domini et obtulit holocausta et fecit victimas pacificas et grande convivium universis famulis suis
 
16.    Then two women who were prostitutes came to the king, and stood before him.     Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.     אז  תבאנה  שתים 
נשים  זנות  אל־המלך
ותעמדנה  לפניו׃
    'aZ ThB'aNH ShThYM NShYM ZNVTh 'aL-HMLK VTh'yMDNH LPhNYV.     then come in do two women, harlots, unto the king, and stand before him,     tunc venerunt duae mulieres meretrices ad regem steteruntque coram eo
 
17.    The one woman said, "Oh, my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house. I delivered a child with her in the house.     And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.     ותאמר  האשה  האחת 
בי  אדני  אני  והאשה
הזאת  ישבת  בבית
אחד  ואלד  עמה
בבית׃
    VTh'aMUr H'aShH H'aChTh BY 'aDNY 'aNY VH'aShH HZ'aTh YShBTh BBYTh 'aChD V'aLD 'yMH BBYTh.     and the one woman saith, `O, my lord, I and this woman are dwelling in one house, and I bring forth with her, in the house;     quarum una ait obsecro mi domine ego et mulier haec habitabamus in domo una et peperi apud eam in cubiculo
 
18.    It happened the third day after I delivered, that this woman delivered also. We were together. There was no stranger with us in the house, just us two in the house.     And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.     ויהי  ביום  השלישי 
ללדתי  ותלד

זולתי  שתים־אנחנו

    VYHY BYVM HShLYShY LLDThY VThLD GM-H'aShH HZ'aTh V'aNChNV YChDV 'aYN-ZUr 'aThNV BBYTh ZVLThY ShThYM-'aNChNV BBYTh.     and it cometh to pass on the third day of my bringing forth, that this woman also bringeth forth, and we are together, there is no stranger with us in the house, save we two, in the house.     tertia vero die postquam ego peperi peperit et haec et eramus simul nullusque alius in domo nobiscum exceptis nobis duabus
 
19.    This woman's child died in the night, because she lay on it.     And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it.     וימת  בן־האשה  הזאת 
לילה  אשר  שכבה
עליו׃
    VYMTh BN-H'aShH HZ'aTh LYLH 'aShUr ShKBH 'yLYV.     And the son of this woman dieth at night, because she hath lain upon it,     mortuus est autem filius mulieris huius nocte dormiens quippe oppressit eum
 
20.    She arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while your handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.     And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.     ותקם  בתוך  הלילה

    VThQM BThVK HLYLH VThQCh 'aTh-BNY M'aTShLY V'aMThK YShNH VThShKYBHV BChYQH V'aTh-BNH HMTh HShKYBH BChYQY.     and she riseth in the middle of the night, and taketh my son from beside me -- and thy handmaid is asleep -- and layeth it in her bosom, and her dead son she hath laid in my bosom;     et consurgens intempesta nocte silentio tulit filium meum de latere meo ancillae tuae dormientis et conlocavit in sinu suo suum autem filium qui erat mortuus posuit in sinu meo
 
21.    When I rose in the morning to nurse my child, behold, it was dead; but when I had looked at it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, whom I bore."     And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.     ואקם  בבקר  להיניק 
את־בני  והנה־מת
ואתבונן  אליו  בבקר
והנה  לא־  היה  בני
אשר  ילדתי׃
    V'aQM BBQUr LHYNYQ 'aTh-BNY VHNH-MTh V'aThBVNN 'aLYV BBQUr VHNH L'a- HYH BNY 'aShUr YLDThY.     and I rise in the morning to suckle my son, and lo, dead; and I consider concerning it in the morning, and lo, it was not my son whom I did bear.`     cumque surrexissem mane ut darem lac filio meo apparuit mortuus quem diligentius intuens clara luce deprehendi non esse meum quem genueram
 
22.    The other woman said, "No; but the living is my son, and the dead is your son." This said, "No; but the dead is your son, and the living is my son." Thus they spoke before the king.     And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king.     ותאמר  האשה  האחרת 
לא  כי  בני  החי
ובנך  המת  וזאת
אמרת  לא  כי  בנך
המת  ובני  החי
ותדברנה  לפני
המלך׃
    VTh'aMUr H'aShH H'aChUrTh L'a KY BNY HChY VBNK HMTh VZ'aTh 'aMUrTh L'a KY BNK HMTh VBNY HChY VThDBUrNH LPhNY HMLK.     And the other woman saith, `Nay, but my son is the living, and thy son the dead;` and this one saith, `Nay, but thy son is the dead, and my son the living.` And they speak before the king.     responditque altera mulier non est ita sed filius tuus mortuus est meus autem vivit e contrario illa dicebat mentiris filius quippe meus vivit et filius tuus mortuus est atque in hunc modum contendebant coram rege
 
23.    Then the king said, "The one says, 'This is my son who lives, and your son is the dead;' and the other says, 'No; but your son is the dead one, and my son is the living one.'"     Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.     ויאמר  המלך  זאת 
אמרת  זה־בני  החי
ובנך  המת  וזאת
אמרת  לא  כי  בנך
המת  ובני  החי׃
    VY'aMUr HMLK Z'aTh 'aMUrTh ZH-BNY HChY VBNK HMTh VZ'aTh 'aMUrTh L'a KY BNK HMTh VBNY HChY.     And the king saith, `This one saith, This is my son, the living, and thy son is the dead; and that one saith, Nay, but thy son is the dead, and my son the living.`     tunc rex ait haec dicit filius meus vivit et filius tuus mortuus est et ista respondit non sed filius tuus mortuus est et filius meus vivit
 
24.    The king said, "Get me a sword." They brought a sword before the king.     And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.     ויאמר  המלך  קחו 
לי־חרב  ויבאו  החרב
לפני  המלך׃
    VY'aMUr HMLK QChV LY-ChUrB VYB'aV HChUrB LPhNY HMLK.     And the king saith, `Take for me a sword;` and they bring the sword before the king,     dixit ergo rex adferte mihi gladium cumque adtulissent gladium coram rege
 
25.    The king said, "Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other."     And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.     ויאמר  המלך  גזרו 
את־הילד  החי  לשנים
ותנו  את־החצי  לאחת
ואת־החצי  לאחת׃
    VY'aMUr HMLK GZUrV 'aTh-HYLD HChY LShNYM VThNV 'aTh-HChTShY L'aChTh V'aTh-HChTShY L'aChTh.     and the king saith, `Cut the living child into two, and give the half to the one, and the half to the other.`     dividite inquit infantem vivum in duas partes et date dimidiam partem uni et dimidiam partem alteri
 
26.    Then the woman whose the living child was spoke to the king, for her heart yearned over her son, and she said, "Oh, my lord, give her the living child, and in no way kill it!" But the other said, "It shall be neither mine nor yours. Divide it."     Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.     ותאמר  האשה 
אשר־בנה  החי
אל־המלך  כי־נכמרו
רחמיה  על־בנה
ותאמר  בי  אדני
תנו־לה  את־הילוד
החי  והמת
אל־תמיתהו  וזאת
אמרת  גם־לי  גם־  לך

    VTh'aMUr H'aShH 'aShUr-BNH HChY 'aL-HMLK KY-NKMUrV UrChMYH 'yL-BNH VTh'aMUr BY 'aDNY ThNV-LH 'aTh-HYLVD HChY VHMTh 'aL-ThMYThHV VZ'aTh 'aMUrTh GM-LY GM- LK L'a YHYH GZUrV.     And the woman whose son is the living one saith unto the king (for her bowels yearned over her son), yea, she saith, `O, my lord, give to her the living child, and put it not at all to death;` and this one saith, `Let it be neither mine or thine -- cut it.`     dixit autem mulier cuius filius erat vivus ad regem commota sunt quippe viscera eius super filio suo obsecro domine date illi infantem vivum et nolite interficere eum contra illa dicebat nec mihi nec tibi sit dividatur
 
27.    Then the king answered, "Give her the living child, and in no way kill it. She is its mother."     Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.     ויען  המלך  ויאמר

תמיתהו  היא  אמו׃
    VY'yN HMLK VY'aMUr ThNV-LH 'aTh-HYLVD HChY VHMTh L'a ThMYThHV HY'a 'aMV.     And the king answereth and saith, `Give ye to her the living child, and put it not at all to death; she is its mother.`     respondens rex ait date huic infantem vivum et non occidatur haec est mater eius

כי־חכמת  אלהים
בקרבו  לעשות  משפט׃
    VYShM'yV KL-YShUr'aL 'aTh-HMShPhT 'aShUr ShPhT HMLK VYUr'aV MPhNY HMLK KY Ur'aV KY-ChKMTh 'aLHYM BQUrBV L'yShVTh MShPhT.     And all Israel hear of the judgment that the king hath judged, and fear because of the king, for they have seen that the wisdom of God is in his heart, to do judgment.     audivit itaque omnis Israhel iudicium quod iudicasset rex et timuerunt regem videntes sapientiam Dei esse in eo ad faciendum iudicium
