1.    Elisha said, "Hear the word of Yahweh. Thus says Yahweh, 'Tomorrow about this time a measure of fine flour will be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.'"     Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.     ויאמר  אלישע  שמעו

2.    Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, "Behold, if Yahweh made windows in heaven, could this thing be?" He said, "Behold, you shall see it with your eyes, but shall not eat of it."     Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.     ויען  השליש 
אשר־למלך  נשען

האלהים  ויאמר  הנה
יהוה  עשה  ארבות
בשמים  היהיה  הדבר
הזה  ויאמר  הנכה
ראה  בעיניך  ומשם

    VY'yN HShLYSh 'aShUr-LMLK NSh'yN 'yL-YDV 'aTh-'aYSh H'aLHYM VY'aMUr HNH YHVH 'yShH 'aUrBVTh BShMYM HYHYH HDBUr HZH VY'aMUr HNKH Ur'aH B'yYNYK VMShM L'a Th'aKL.     And the captain whom the king hath, by whose hand he hath been supported, answereth the man of God and saith, `Lo, Jehovah is making windows in the heavens -- shall this thing be?` and he saith, `Lo, thou art seeing it with thine eyes, and thereof thou dost not eat.`     respondens unus de ducibus super cuius manum rex incumbebat homini Dei ait si Dominus fecerit etiam cataractas in caelo numquid poterit esse quod loqueris qui ait videbis oculis tuis et inde non comedes
 
3.    Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate. They said one to another, "Why do we sit here until we die?     And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?     וארבעה  אנשים  היו 
מצרעים  פתח  השער
ויאמרו  איש
אל־רעהו  מה  אנחנו
ישבים  פה  עד־מתנו׃
    V'aUrB'yH 'aNShYM HYV MTShUr'yYM PhThCh HSh'yUr VY'aMUrV 'aYSh 'aL-Ur'yHV MH 'aNChNV YShBYM PhH 'yD-MThNV.     And four men have been leprous, at the opening of the gate, and they say one unto another, `What -- we are sitting here till we have died;     quattuor ergo viri erant leprosi iuxta introitum portae qui dixerunt ad invicem quid hic esse volumus donec moriamur
 
4.    If we say, 'We will enter into the city,' then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there. If we sit still here, we also die. Now therefore come, and let us surrender to the army of the Syrians. If they save us alive, we will live; and if they kill us, we will only die."     If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also.     'aM-'aMUrNV NBV'a H'yYUr VHUr'yB B'yYUr VMThNV ShM V'aM-YShBNV PhH VMThNV V'yThH LKV VNPhLH 'aL-MChNH 'aUrM 'aM-YChYNV NChYH V'aM-YMYThNV VMThNV.     if we have said, We go in to the city, then the famine is in the city, and we have died there; and if we have sat here, then we have died; and now, come and we fall unto the camp of Aram; if they keep us alive, we live, and if they put us to death -- we have died.`     sive ingredi voluerimus civitatem fame moriemur sive manserimus hic moriendum nobis est venite igitur et transfugiamus ad castra Syriae si pepercerint nobis vivemus si autem occidere voluerint nihilominus moriemur
 
5.    They rose up in the twilight, to go to the camp of the Syrians. When they had come to the outermost part of the camp of the Syrians, behold, there was no man there.     And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there.     ויקומו  בנשף  לבוא 
אל־מחנה  ארם  ויבאו
עד־קצה  מחנה  ארם
והנה  אין־  שם  איש׃
    VYQVMV BNShPh LBV'a 'aL-MChNH 'aUrM VYB'aV 'yD-QTShH MChNH 'aUrM VHNH 'aYN- ShM 'aYSh.     And they rise in the twilight, to go in unto the camp of Aram, and they come in unto the extremity of the camp of Aram, and lo, there is not a man there,     surrexerunt igitur vesperi ut venirent ad castra Syriae cumque venissent ad principium castrorum Syriae nullum ibidem reppererunt
 
6.    For the Lord{The word translated "Lord" is "Adonai."} had made the army of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great army: and they said one to another, Behold, the king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come on us.     For the LORD had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.     ואדני  השמיע

    V'aDNY HShMY'y 'aTh-MChNH 'aUrM QVL UrKB QVL SVS QVL ChYL GDVL VY'aMUrV 'aYSh 'aL-'aChYV HNH ShKUr-'yLYNV MLK YShUr'aL 'aTh-MLKY HChThYM V'aTh-MLKY MTShUrYM LBV'a 'yLYNV.     seeing Jehovah hath caused the camp of Aram to hear a noise of chariot and a noise of horse -- a noise of great force, and they say one unto another, `Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of Egypt, to come against us.`     siquidem Dominus sonitum audiri fecerat in castris Syriae curruum et equorum et exercitus plurimi dixeruntque ad invicem ecce mercede conduxit adversum nos rex Israhel reges Hettheorum et Aegyptiorum et venerunt super nos

    VYQVMV VYNVSV BNShPh VY'yZBV 'aTh-'aHLYHM V'aTh-SVSYHM V'aTh-ChMUrYHM HMChNH K'aShUr-HY'a VYNSV 'aL-NPhShM.     And they rise and flee in the twilight, and forsake their tents, and their horses, and their asses -- the camp as it is -- and flee for their life.     surrexerunt ergo et fugerunt in tenebris et dereliquerunt tentoria sua et equos et asinos in castris fugeruntque animas tantum suas salvare cupientes
 
8.    When these lepers came to the outermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and ate and drink, and carried there silver, and gold, and clothing, and went and hid it. Then they came back, and entered into another tent, and carried there also, and went and hid it.     And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it.     ויבאו  המצרעים 
האלה  עד־קצה  המחנה
ויבאו  אל־אהל  אחד

    VYB'aV HMTShUr'yYM H'aLH 'yD-QTShH HMChNH VYB'aV 'aL-'aHL 'aChD VY'aKLV VYShThV VYSh'aV MShM KSPh VZHB VBGDYM VYLKV VYTMNV VYShBV VYB'aV 'aL-'aHL 'aChUr VYSh'aV MShM VYLKV VYTMNV.     And these lepers come in unto the extremity of the camp, and come in unto one tent, and eat, and drink, and lift up thence silver, and gold, and garments, and go and hide; and they turn back and go in unto another tent, and lift up thence, and go and hide.     igitur cum venissent leprosi illi ad principium castrorum ingressi sunt unum tabernaculum et comederunt et biberunt tuleruntque inde argentum et aurum et vestes et abierunt et absconderunt et rursum reversi sunt ad aliud tabernaculum et inde similiter auferentes absconderunt
 
9.    Then they said one to another, "We aren't doing right. This day is a day of good news, and we keep silent. If we wait until the morning light, punishment will overtake us. Now therefore come, let us go and tell the king's household."     Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king's household.     ויאמרו  איש

הבקר  ומצאנו  עוון
ועתה  לכו  ונבאה

    VY'aMUrV 'aYSh 'aL-Ur'yHV L'a-KN 'aNChNV 'yShYM HYVM HZH YVM-BShUrH HV'a V'aNChNV MChShYM VChKYNV 'yD-'aVUr HBQUr VMTSh'aNV 'yVVN V'yThH LKV VNB'aH VNGYDH BYTh HMLK.     And they say one unto another, `We are not doing right this day; a day of tidings it is, and we are keeping silent; and -- we have waited till the light of the morning, then hath punishment found us; and now, come and we go in and declare to the house of the king.`     dixeruntque ad invicem non recte facimus haec enim dies boni nuntii est si tacuerimus et noluerimus nuntiare usque mane sceleris arguemur venite eamus et nuntiemus in aula regis
 
10.    So they came and called to the porter of the city; and they told them, saying, "We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but the horses tied, and the donkeys tied, and the tents as they were."     So they came and called unto the porter of the city: and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but horses tied, and asses tied, and the tents as they were.     ויבאו  ויקראו 
אל־שער  העיר
ויגידו  להם  לאמר
באנו  אל־מחנה  ארם
והנה  אין־שם  איש
וקול  אדם  כי
אם־הסוס  אסור
והחמור  אסור
ואהלים  כאשר־המה׃
    VYB'aV VYQUr'aV 'aL-Sh'yUr H'yYUr VYGYDV LHM L'aMUr B'aNV 'aL-MChNH 'aUrM VHNH 'aYN-ShM 'aYSh VQVL 'aDM KY 'aM-HSVS 'aSVUr VHChMVUr 'aSVUr V'aHLYM K'aShUr-HMH.     And they come in, and call unto the gatekeeper of the city, and declare for themselves, saying, `We have come in unto the camp of Aram, and lo, there is not there a man, or sound of man, but the bound horse, and the bound ass, and tents as they are.`     cumque venissent ad portam civitatis narraverunt eis dicentes ivimus ad castra Syriae et nullum ibidem repperimus hominum nisi equos et asinos alligatos et fixa tentoria
 
11.    He called the porters; and they told it to the king's household within.     And he called the porters; and they told it to the king's house within.     ויקרא  השערים

12.    The king arose in the night, and said to his servants, "I will now show you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we are hungry. Therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, 'When they come out of the city, we shall take them alive, and get into the city.'"     And the king arose in the night, and said unto his servants, I will now shew you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we be hungry; therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, When they come out of the city, we shall catch them alive, and get into the city.     ויקם  המלך  לילה 
ויאמר  אל־עבדיו
אגידה־נא  לכם  את
אשר־עשו  לנו  ארם
ידעו  כי־רעבים

מן־המחנה  להחבה
בהשדה  לאמר
כי־יצאו  מן־העיר
ונתפשם  חיים
ואל־העיר  נבא׃
    VYQM HMLK LYLH VY'aMUr 'aL-'yBDYV 'aGYDH-N'a LKM 'aTh 'aShUr-'yShV LNV 'aUrM YD'yV KY-Ur'yBYM 'aNChNV VYTSh'aV MN-HMChNH LHChBH BHShDH L'aMUr KY-YTSh'aV MN-H'yYUr VNThPhShM ChYYM V'aL-H'yYUr NB'a.     And the king riseth by night, and saith unto his servants, `Let me declare, I pray you, to you that which the Aramaeans have done to us; they have known that we are famished, and they are gone out from the camp to be hidden in the field, saying, When they come out from the city, then we catch them alive, and unto the city we enter.`     qui surrexit nocte et ait ad servos suos dico vobis quid fecerint nobis Syri sciunt quia fame laboramus et idcirco egressi sunt de castris et latitant in agris dicentes cum egressi fuerint de civitate capiemus eos viventes et tunc civitatem ingredi poterimus
 
13.    One of his servants answered, "Please let some take five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city. Behold, they are like all the multitude of Israel who are left in it. Behold, they are like all the multitude of Israel who are consumed. Let us send and see."     And one of his servants answered and said, Let some take, I pray thee, five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city, (behold, they are as all the multitude of Israel that are left in it: behold, I say, they are even as all the multitude of the Israelites that are consumed:) and let us send and see.     ויען  אחד  מעבדיו

חמשה  מן־הסוסים
הנשארים  אשר

14.    They took therefore two chariots with horses; and the king sent after the army of the Syrians, saying, "Go and see."     They took therefore two chariot horses; and the king sent after the host of the Syrians, saying, Go and see.     ויקחו  שני  רכב

15.    They went after them to the Jordan; and behold, all the way was full of garments and vessels, which the Syrians had cast away in their haste. The messengers returned, and told the king.     And they went after them unto Jordan: and, lo, all the way was full of garments and vessels, which the Syrians had cast away in their haste. עד־הירדן  והנה
כל־הדרך  מלאה
בגדים  וכלים  אשר־
השליכו  ארם  בהחפזם
וישבו  המלאכים

16.    The people went out, and plundered the camp of the Syrians. So a measure of fine flour was [sold] for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of Yahweh.     And the people went out, and spoiled the tents of the Syrians. So a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the LORD.     ויצא  העם  ויבזו  את

17.    The king appointed the captain on whose hand he leaned to be in charge of the gate: and the people trod on him in the gate, and he died as the man of God had said, who spoke when the king came down to him.     And the king appointed the lord on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate: and the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, who spake when the king came down to him.     והמלך  הפקיד

18.    It happened, as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, "Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be tomorrow about this time in the gate of Samaria;"     And it came to pass as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be to morrow about this time in the gate of Samaria:     ויהי  כדבר  איש

    VYHY KDBUr 'aYSh H'aLHYM 'aL-HMLK L'aMUr S'aThYM Sh'yUrYM BShQL VS'aH-SLTh BShQL YHYH K'yTh MChUr BSh'yUr ShMUrVN.     yea, it cometh to pass, according to the speaking of the man of God unto the king, saying, `Two measures of barley at a shekel, and a measure of fine flour at a shekel are, at this time to-morrow, in the gate of Samaria;`     factumque est secundum sermonem viri Dei quem dixerat regi quando ait duo modii hordei statere uno erunt et modius similae statere uno hoc eodem tempore cras in porta Samariae
 
19.    and that captain answered the man of God, and said, "Now, behold, if Yahweh should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be?" and he said, "Behold, you shall see it with your eyes, but shall not eat of it."     And that lord answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if the LORD should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.     ויען  השליש  את־איש
