1.    But concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that anything be written to you.     But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.     περι δε των χρονων και των καιρων αδελφοι ου χρειαν εχετε υμιν γραφεσθαι     And concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need of my writing to you,     de temporibus autem et momentis fratres non indigetis ut scribamus vobis

2.    For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night.     For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.     αυτοι γαρ ακριβως οιδατε οτι ημερα κυριου ως κλεπτης εν νυκτι ουτως ερχεται     for yourselves have known thoroughly that the day of the Lord as a thief in the night doth so come,     ipsi enim diligenter scitis quia dies Domini sicut fur in nocte ita veniet

3.    For when they are saying, "Peace and safety," then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman; and they will in no way escape.     For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.     οταν λεγωσιν ειρηνη και ασφαλεια τοτε αιφνιδιος αυτοις εφισταται ολεθρος ωσπερ η ωδιν τη εν γαστρι εχουση και ου μη εκφυγωσιν     for when they may say, Peace and surety, then sudden destruction doth stand by them, as the travail doth her who is with child, and they shall not escape;     cum enim dixerint pax et securitas tunc repentinus eis superveniet interitus sicut dolor in utero habenti et non effugient

4.    But you, brothers, aren't in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief.     But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.     υμεις δε αδελφοι ουκ εστε εν σκοτει ινα η ημερα υμας ως κλεπτης καταλαβη     and ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day may catch you as a thief;     vos autem fratres non estis in tenebris ut vos dies ille tamquam fur conprehendat

5.    You are all children of light, and children of the day. We don't belong to the night, nor to darkness,     Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.     παντες γαρ υμεις υιοι φωτος εστε και υιοι ημερας ουκ εσμεν νυκτος ουδε σκοτους     all ye are sons of light, and sons of day; we are not of night, nor of darkness,     omnes enim vos filii lucis estis et filii diei non sumus noctis neque tenebrarum

6.    so then let's not sleep, as the rest do, but let's watch and be sober.     Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.     αρα ουν μη καθευδωμεν ως οι λοιποι αλλα γρηγορωμεν και νηφωμεν     so, then, we may not sleep as also the others, but watch and be sober,     igitur non dormiamus sicut ceteri sed vigilemus et sobrii simus

7.    For those who sleep, sleep in the night, and those who are drunk are drunk in the night.     For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.     οι γαρ καθευδοντες νυκτος καθευδουσιν και οι μεθυσκομενοι νυκτος μεθυουσιν     for those sleeping, by night do sleep, and those making themselves drunk, by night are drunken,     qui enim dormiunt nocte dormiunt et qui ebrii sunt nocte ebrii sunt

8.    But let us, since we belong to the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and, for a helmet, the hope of salvation.     But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.     ημεις δε ημερας οντες νηφωμεν ενδυσαμενοι θωρακα πιστεως και αγαπης και περικεφαλαιαν ελπιδα σωτηριας     and we, being of the day -- let us be sober, putting on a breastplate of faith and love, and an helmet -- a hope of salvation,     nos autem qui diei sumus sobrii simus induti loricam fidei et caritatis et galeam spem salutis

9.    For God didn't appoint us to wrath, but to the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,     For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,     οτι ουκ εθετο ημας ο θεος εις οργην αλλα εις περιποιησιν σωτηριας δια του κυριου ημων ιησου χριστου     because God did not appoint us to anger, but to the acquiring of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,     quoniam non posuit nos Deus in iram sed in adquisitionem salutis per Dominum nostrum Iesum Christum

10.    who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.     Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.     του αποθανοντος υπερ ημων ινα ειτε γρηγορωμεν ειτε καθευδωμεν αμα συν αυτω ζησωμεν     who did die for us, that whether we wake -- whether we sleep -- together with him we may live;     qui mortuus est pro nobis ut sive vigilemus sive dormiamus simul cum illo vivamus

11.    Therefore exhort one another, and build each other up, even as you also do.     Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.     διο παρακαλειτε αλληλους και οικοδομειτε εις τον ενα καθως και ποιειτε     wherefore, comfort ye one another, and build ye up, one the one, as also ye do.     propter quod consolamini invicem et aedificate alterutrum sicut et facitis

12.    But we beg you, brothers, to know those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you,     And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;     ερωτωμεν δε υμας αδελφοι ειδεναι τους κοπιωντας εν υμιν και προισταμενους υμων εν κυριω και νουθετουντας υμας     And we ask you, brethren, to know those labouring among you, and leading you in the Lord, and admonishing you,     rogamus autem vos fratres ut noveritis eos qui laborant inter vos et praesunt vobis in Domino et monent vos

13.    and to respect and honor them in love for their work's sake. Be at peace among yourselves.     And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.     και ηγεισθαι αυτους υπερεκπερισσου  εν αγαπη δια το εργον αυτων ειρηνευετε εν εαυτοις     and to esteem them very abundantly in love, because of their work; be at peace among yourselves;     ut habeatis illos abundantius in caritate propter opus illorum pacem habete cum eis

14.    We exhort you, brothers, admonish the disorderly, encourage the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient toward all.     Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.     παρακαλουμεν δε υμας αδελφοι νουθετειτε τους ατακτους παραμυθεισθε τους ολιγοψυχους αντεχεσθε των ασθενων μακροθυμειτε προς παντας     and we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, comfort the feeble-minded, support the infirm, be patient unto all;     rogamus autem vos fratres corripite inquietos consolamini pusillianimes suscipite infirmos patientes estote ad omnes

15.    See that no one returns evil for evil to anyone, but always follow after that which is good, for one another, and for all.     See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.     ορατε μη τις κακον αντι κακου τινι αποδω αλλα παντοτε το αγαθον διωκετε [και] εις αλληλους και εις παντας     see no one evil for evil may render to any one, but always that which is good pursue ye, both to one another and to all;     videte ne quis malum pro malo alicui reddat sed semper quod bonum est sectamini et in invicem et in omnes

21.    Test all things, and hold firmly that which is good.     Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.     παντα δε δοκιμαζετε το καλον κατεχετε     all things prove; that which is good hold fast;     omnia autem probate quod bonum est tenete

22.    Abstain from every form of evil.     Abstain from all appearance of evil.     απο παντος ειδους πονηρου απεχεσθε     from all appearance of evil abstain ye;     ab omni specie mala abstinete vos

23.    May the God of peace himself sanctify you completely. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.     And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.     αυτος δε ο θεος της ειρηνης αγιασαι υμας ολοτελεις και ολοκληρον υμων το πνευμα και η ψυχη και το σωμα αμεμπτως εν τη παρουσια του κυριου ημων ιησου χριστου τηρηθειη     and the God of the peace Himself sanctify you wholly, and may your whole spirit, and soul, and body, be preserved unblameably in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ;     ipse autem Deus pacis sanctificet vos per omnia et integer spiritus vester et anima et corpus sine querella in adventu Domini nostri Iesu Christi servetur
