| 1. | I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and who will also share in the glory that will be revealed. | The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: | πρεσβυτερους ουν εν υμιν παρακαλω ο συμπρεσβυτερος και μαρτυς των του χριστου παθηματων ο και της μελλουσης αποκαλυπτεσθαι δοξης κοινωνος | Elders who are among you, I exhort, who am a fellow-elder, and a witness of the sufferings of the Christ, and of the glory about to be revealed a partaker, | seniores ergo qui in vobis sunt obsecro consenior et testis Christi passionum qui et eius quae in futuro revelanda est gloriae communicator | ||||
| 2. | Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not under compulsion, but voluntarily, not for dishonest gain, but willingly; | Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; | ποιμανατε το εν υμιν ποιμνιον του θεου [επισκοπουντεσ] μη αναγκαστως αλλα εκουσιως κατα θεον μηδε αισχροκερδως αλλα προθυμως | feed the flock of God that is among you, overseeing not constrainedly, but willingly, neither for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind, | pascite qui est in vobis gregem Dei providentes non coacto sed spontanee secundum Deum neque turpis lucri gratia sed voluntarie | ||||

| 9. | Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that your brothers who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings. | Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. | ω αντιστητε στερεοι τη πιστει ειδοτες τα αυτα των παθηματων τη εν [τω] κοσμω υμων αδελφοτητι επιτελεισθαι | whom resist, stedfast in the faith, having known the same sufferings to your brotherhood in the world to be accomplished. | cui resistite fortes fide scientes eadem passionum ei quae in mundo est vestrae fraternitati fieri | ||||
