1.    I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and who will also share in the glory that will be revealed.     The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:     πρεσβυτερους ουν εν υμιν παρακαλω ο συμπρεσβυτερος και μαρτυς των του χριστου παθηματων ο και της μελλουσης αποκαλυπτεσθαι δοξης κοινωνος     Elders who are among you, I exhort, who am a fellow-elder, and a witness of the sufferings of the Christ, and of the glory about to be revealed a partaker,     seniores ergo qui in vobis sunt obsecro consenior et testis Christi passionum qui et eius quae in futuro revelanda est gloriae communicator

2.    Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not under compulsion, but voluntarily, not for dishonest gain, but willingly;     Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;     ποιμανατε το εν υμιν ποιμνιον του θεου [επισκοπουντεσ] μη αναγκαστως αλλα εκουσιως κατα θεον μηδε αισχροκερδως αλλα προθυμως     feed the flock of God that is among you, overseeing not constrainedly, but willingly, neither for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind,     pascite qui est in vobis gregem Dei providentes non coacto sed spontanee secundum Deum neque turpis lucri gratia sed voluntarie

3.    neither as lording it over those entrusted to you, but making yourselves examples to the flock.     Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.     μηδ ως κατακυριευοντες των κληρων αλλα τυποι γινομενοι του ποιμνιου     neither as exercising lordship over the heritages, but patterns becoming of the flock,     neque ut dominantes in cleris sed formae facti gregi et ex animo

4.    When the chief Shepherd is revealed, you will receive the crown of glory that doesn't fade away.     And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.     και φανερωθεντος του αρχιποιμενος κομιεισθε τον αμαραντινον της δοξης στεφανον     and at the manifestation of the chief Shepherd, ye shall receive the unfading crown of glory.     et cum apparuerit princeps pastorum percipietis inmarcescibilem gloriae coronam

5.    Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to subject yourselves to one another; for "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."{Proverbs 3:34}     Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.     ομοιως νεωτεροι υποταγητε πρεσβυτεροις παντες δε αλληλοις την ταπεινοφροσυνην εγκομβωσασθε οτι [ο] θεος υπερηφανοις αντιτασσεται ταπεινοις δε διδωσιν χαριν     In like manner, ye younger, be subject to elders, and all to one another subjecting yourselves; with humble-mindedness clothe yourselves, because God the proud doth resist, but to the humble He doth give grace;     similiter adulescentes subditi estote senioribus omnes autem invicem humilitatem insinuate quia Deus superbis resistit humilibus autem dat gratiam

6.    Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time;     Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:     ταπεινωθητε ουν υπο την κραταιαν χειρα του θεου ινα υμας υψωση εν καιρω     be humbled, then, under the powerful hand of God, that you He may exalt in good time,     humiliamini igitur sub potenti manu Dei ut vos exaltet in tempore visitationis

7.    casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.     Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.     πασαν την μεριμναν υμων επιριψαντεσ επ αυτον οτι αυτω μελει περι υμων     all your care having cast upon Him, because He careth for you.     omnem sollicitudinem vestram proicientes in eum quoniam ipsi cura est de vobis

8.    Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.     Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:     νηψατε γρηγορησατε ο αντιδικος υμων διαβολος ως λεων ωρυομενος περιπατει ζητων [τινα] καταπιειν     Be sober, vigilant, because your opponent the devil, as a roaring lion, doth walk about, seeking whom he may swallow up,     sobrii estote vigilate quia adversarius vester diabolus tamquam leo rugiens circuit quaerens quem devoret

9.    Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that your brothers who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings.     Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.     ω αντιστητε στερεοι τη πιστει ειδοτες τα αυτα των παθηματων τη εν [τω] κοσμω υμων αδελφοτητι επιτελεισθαι     whom resist, stedfast in the faith, having known the same sufferings to your brotherhood in the world to be accomplished.     cui resistite fortes fide scientes eadem passionum ei quae in mundo est vestrae fraternitati fieri

10.    But may the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.     But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.     ο δε θεος πασης χαριτος ο καλεσας υμασ εις την αιωνιον αυτου δοξαν εν χριστω [ιησου] ολιγον παθοντας αυτος καταρτισει  στηριξει σθενωσει θεμελιωσει     And the God of all grace, who did call you to His age-during glory in Christ Jesus, having suffered a little, Himself make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you;     Deus autem omnis gratiae qui vocavit nos in aeternam suam gloriam in Christo Iesu modicum passos ipse perficiet confirmabit solidabit

11.    To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.     To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.     αυτω  το κρατος εις τους αιωνας  αμην     to Him is the glory, and the power -- to the ages and the ages! Amen.     ipsi imperium in saecula saeculorum amen

12.    Through Silvanus, our faithful brother, as I consider him, I have written to you briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand.     By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.     δια σιλουανου υμιν του πιστου αδελφου ως λογιζομαι δι ολιγων εγραψα παρακαλων και επιμαρτυρων ταυτην ειναι αληθη χαριν του θεου εις ην στητε     Through Silvanus, to you the faithful brother, as I reckon, through few words I did write, exhorting and testifying this to be the true grace of God in which ye have stood.     per Silvanum vobis fidelem fratrem ut arbitror breviter scripsi obsecrans et contestans hanc esse veram gratiam Dei in qua state
