1.    The elder, to the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in truth; and not I only, but also all those who know the truth;     The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;     ο πρεσβυτερος εκλεκτη κυρια και τοις τεκνοις αυτης ους εγω αγαπω εν αληθεια και ουκ εγω μονος αλλα και παντες οι εγνωκοτες την αληθειαν     The Elder to the choice Kyria, and to her children, whom I love in truth, and not I only, but also all those having known the truth,     senior electae dominae et natis eius quos ego diligo in veritate et non ego solus sed et omnes qui cognoverunt veritatem

2.    for the truth's sake, which remains in us, and it will be with us forever:     For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.     δια την αληθειαν την μενουσαν εν ημιν και μεθ ημων εσται εις τον αιωνα     because of the truth that is remaining in us, and with us shall be to the age,     propter veritatem quae permanet in nobis et nobiscum erit in aeternum

3.    Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.     Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.     εσται μεθ ημων χαρις ελεος ειρηνη παρα θεου πατρος και παρα ιησου χριστου του υιου του πατρος εν αληθεια και αγαπη     there shall be with you grace, kindness, peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.     sit nobiscum gratia misericordia pax a Deo Patre et a Christo Iesu Filio Patris in veritate et caritate

4.    I rejoice greatly that I have found some of your children walking in truth, even as we have been commanded by the Father.     I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.     εχαρην λιαν οτι ευρηκα εκ των τεκνων σου περιπατουντας εν αληθεια καθως εντολην ελαβομεν παρα του πατρος     I rejoiced exceedingly that I have found of thy children walking in truth, even as a command we did receive from the Father;     gavisus sum valde quoniam inveni de filiis tuis ambulantes in veritate sicut mandatum accepimus a Patre

5.    Now I beg you, dear lady, not as though I wrote to you a new commandment, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.     And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.     και νυν ερωτω σε κυρια ουχ ως εντολην  καινην γραφων σοι αλλα ην ειχομεν απ αρχης ινα αγαπωμεν αλληλους     and now I beseech thee, Kyria, not as writing to thee a new command, but which we had from the beginning, that we may love one another,     et nunc rogo te domina non tamquam mandatum novum scribens tibi sed quod habuimus ab initio ut diligamus alterutrum

6.    This is love, that we should walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, even as you heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.     And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.     και αυτη εστιν η αγαπη ινα περιπατωμεν κατα τας εντολας αυτου αυτη η εντολη εστιν καθως ηκουσατε απ αρχης ινα εν αυτη περιπατητε     and this is the love, that we may walk according to His commands; this is the command, even as ye did hear from the beginning, that in it ye may walk,     et haec est caritas ut ambulemus secundum mandata eius hoc mandatum est ut quemadmodum audistis ab initio in eo ambuletis

7.    For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who don't confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the Antichrist.     For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.     οτι πολλοι πλανοι εξηλθον εις τον κοσμον οι μη ομολογουντες ιησουν χριστον ερχομενον εν σαρκι ουτος εστιν ο πλανος και ο αντιχριστος     because many leading astray did enter into the world, who are not confessing Jesus Christ coming in flesh; this one is he who is leading astray, and the antichrist.     quoniam multi seductores exierunt in mundum qui non confitentur Iesum Christum venientem in carne hic est seductor et antichristus

8.    Watch yourselves, that we don't lose the things which we have accomplished, but that we receive a full reward.     Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.     βλεπετε εαυτους ινα μη απολεσητε α ειργασαμεθα αλλα μισθον πληρη απολαβητε     See to yourselves that ye may not lose the things that we wrought, but a full reward may receive;     videte vosmet ipsos ne perdatis quae operati estis sed ut mercedem plenam accipiatis

9.    Whoever transgresses and doesn't remain in the teaching of Christ, doesn't have God. He who remains in the teaching, the same has both the Father and the Son.     Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.     πας ο προαγων και μη μενων εν τη διδαχη του χριστου θεον ουκ εχει ο μενων εν τη διδαχη  ουτος και τον πατερα και τον υιον εχει     every one who is transgressing, and is not remaining in the teaching of the Christ, hath not God; he who is remaining in the teaching of the Christ, this one hath both the Father and the Son;     omnis qui praecedit et non manet in doctrina Christi Deum non habet qui permanet in doctrina hic et Filium et Patrem habet

10.    If anyone comes to you, and doesn't bring this teaching, don't receive him into your house, and don't welcome him,     If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:     ει τις ερχεται προς υμας και ταυτην την διδαχην ου φερει μη λαμβανετε αυτον εις οικιαν και χαιρειν αυτω μη λεγετε     if any one doth come unto you, and this teaching doth not bear, receive him not into the house, and say not to him, `Hail!`     si quis venit ad vos et hanc doctrinam non adfert nolite recipere eum in domum nec have ei dixeritis

11.    for he who welcomes him participates in his evil works.     For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.     ο λεγων γαρ αυτω χαιρειν κοινωνει τοις εργοις αυτου τοις πονηροις     for he who is saying to him, `Hail,` hath fellowship with his evil works.     qui enim dicit illi have communicat operibus illius malignis

12.    Having many things to write to you, I don't want to do so with paper and ink, but I hope to come to you, and to speak face to face, that our joy may be made full.     Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.     πολλα εχων υμιν γραφειν ουκ εβουληθην δια χαρτου και μελανος αλλα ελπιζω γενεσθαι προς υμας και στομα προς στομα λαλησαι ινα η χαρα ημων πεπληρωμενη η     Many things having to write to you, I did not intend through paper and ink, but I hope to come unto you, and speak mouth to mouth, that our joy may be full;     plura habens vobis scribere nolui per cartam et atramentum spero enim me futurum apud vos et os ad os loqui ut gaudium vestrum plenum sit

13.    The children of your chosen sister greet you. Amen.     The children of thy elect sister greet thee.
