1.    "To the angel of the assembly in Ephesus write: "He who holds the seven stars in his right hand, he who walks among the seven golden lampstands says these things:     Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;     τω αγγελω της εν εφεσω εκκλησιας γραψον ταδε λεγει ο κρατων τους επτα αστερας εν τη δεξια αυτου ο περιπατων εν μεσω των επτα λυχνιων των χρυσων     `To the messenger of the Ephesian assembly write: These things saith he who is holding the seven stars in his right hand, who is walking in the midst of the seven lamp-stands -- the golden:     angelo Ephesi ecclesiae scribe haec dicit qui tenet septem stellas in dextera sua qui ambulat in medio septem candelabrorum aureorum

2.    "I know your works, and your toil and perseverance, and that you can't tolerate evil men, and have tested those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and found them false.     I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:     οιδα τα εργα σου και τον κοπον και την υπομονην σου και οτι ου δυνη βαστασαι κακους και επειρασασ τους λεγοντασ εαυτουσ αποστολους και ουκ εισιν και ευρες αυτους ψευδεις     I have known thy works, and thy labour, and thy endurance, and that thou art not able to bear evil ones, and that thou hast tried those saying themselves to be apostles and are not, and hast found them liars,     scio opera tua et laborem et patientiam tuam et quia non potes sustinere malos et temptasti eos qui se dicunt apostolos et non sunt et invenisti eos mendaces

3.    You have perseverance and have endured for my name's sake, and have{TR adds "have labored and"} not grown weary.     And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.     και  υπομονην εχεις και εβαστασασ δια το ονομα μου και ου  κεκοπιακεσ     and thou didst bear, and hast endurance, and because of my name hast toiled, and hast not been weary.     et patientiam habes et sustinuisti propter nomen meum et non defecisti

4.    But I have this against you, that you left your first love.     Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.     αλλα εχω κατα σου οτι την αγαπην σου την πρωτην αφηκεσ     `But I have against thee: That thy first love thou didst leave!     sed habeo adversus te quod caritatem tuam primam reliquisti

5.    Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent and do the first works; or else I am coming to you swiftly, and will move your lampstand out of its place, unless you repent.     Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.     μνημονευε ουν ποθεν πεπτωκασ και μετανοησον και τα πρωτα εργα ποιησον ει δε μη ερχομαι σοι  και κινησω την λυχνιαν σου εκ του τοπου αυτης εαν μη μετανοησης     remember, then, whence thou hast fallen, and reform, and the first works do; and if not, I come to thee quickly, and will remove thy lamp-stand from its place -- if thou mayest not reform;     memor esto itaque unde excideris et age paenitentiam et prima opera fac sin autem venio tibi et movebo candelabrum tuum de loco suo nisi paenitentiam egeris

6.    But this you have, that you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.     But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate.     αλλα τουτο εχεις οτι μισεις τα εργα των νικολαιτων α καγω μισω     but this thou hast, that thou dost hate the works of the Nicolaitans, that I also hate.     sed hoc habes quia odisti facta Nicolaitarum quae et ego odi

7.    He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. To him who overcomes I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of my God.     He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.     ο εχων ους ακουσατω τι το πνευμα λεγει ταις εκκλησιαις τω νικωντι δωσω αυτω φαγειν εκ του ξυλου της ζωης ο εστιν εν τω παραδεισω  του θεου     He who is having an ear -- let him hear what the Spirit saith to the assemblies: To him who is overcoming -- I will give to him to eat of the tree of life that is in the midst of the paradise of God.     qui habet aurem audiat quid Spiritus dicat ecclesiis vincenti dabo ei edere de ligno vitae quod est in paradiso Dei mei

8.    "To the angel of the assembly in Smyrna write: "The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life says these things:     And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;     και τω αγγελω της εν σμυρνη εκκλησιας γραψον ταδε λεγει ο πρωτος και ο εσχατος ος εγενετο νεκρος και εζησεν     `And to the messenger of the assembly of the Smyrneans write: These things saith the First and the Last, who did become dead and did live;     et angelo Zmyrnae ecclesiae scribe haec dicit primus et novissimus qui fuit mortuus et vivit

9.    "I know your works, oppression, and your poverty (but you are rich), and the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews, and they are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.     I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.     οιδα σου  την θλιψιν και την πτωχειαν αλλα πλουσιος ει και την βλασφημιαν εκ των λεγοντων ιουδαιους ειναι εαυτους και ουκ εισιν αλλα συναγωγη του σατανα     I have known thy works, and tribulation, and poverty -- yet thou art rich -- and the evil-speaking of those saying themselves to be Jews, and are not, but are a synagogue of the Adversary.     scio tribulationem tuam et paupertatem tuam sed dives es et blasphemaris ab his qui se dicunt Iudaeos esse et non sunt sed sunt synagoga Satanae

10.    Don't be afraid of the things which you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested; and you will have oppression for ten days. Be faithful to death, and I will give you the crown of life.     Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.     μηδεν φοβου α μελλεις πασχειν ιδου μελλει βαλλειν  ο διαβολος εξ υμων εις φυλακην ινα πειρασθητε και εξετε θλιψιν ημερων δεκα γινου πιστος αχρι θανατου και δωσω σοι τον στεφανον της ζωης     `Be not afraid of the things that thou art about to suffer; lo, the devil is about to cast of you to prison, that ye may be tried, and ye shall have tribulation ten days; become thou faithful unto death, and I will give to thee the crown of the life.     nihil horum timeas quae passurus es ecce missurus est diabolus ex vobis in carcerem ut temptemini et habebitis tribulationem diebus decem esto fidelis usque ad mortem et dabo tibi coronam vitae

11.    He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. He who overcomes won't be harmed by the second death.     He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.     ο εχων ους ακουσατω τι το πνευμα λεγει ταις εκκλησιαις ο νικων ου μη αδικηθη εκ του θανατου του δευτερου     He who is having an ear -- let him hear what the Spirit saith to the assemblies: He who is overcoming may not be injured of the second death.     qui habet aurem audiat quid Spiritus dicat ecclesiis qui vicerit non laedetur a morte secunda

12.    "To the angel of the assembly in Pergamum write: "He who has the sharp two-edged sword says these things:     And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;     και τω αγγελω της εν περγαμω εκκλησιας γραψον ταδε λεγει ο εχων την ρομφαιαν την διστομον την οξειαν     `And to the messenger of the assembly in Pergamos write: These things saith he who is having the sharp two-edged sword:     et angelo Pergami ecclesiae scribe haec dicit qui habet rompheam utraque parte acutam

13.    "I know your works and where you dwell, where Satan's throne is. You hold firmly to my name, and didn't deny my faith in the days of Antipas my witness, my faithful one, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.     I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.     οιδα   που κατοικεις οπου ο θρονος του σατανα και κρατεις το ονομα μου και ουκ ηρνησω την πιστιν μου και εν ταις ημεραις  αντιπας ο μαρτυς μου ο πιστος μου ος απεκτανθη παρ υμιν οπου ο σατανας κατοικει     I have known thy works, and where thou dost dwell -- where the throne of the Adversary is -- and thou dost hold fast my name, and thou didst not deny my faith, even in the days in which Antipas was my faithful witness, who was put to death beside you, where the Adversary doth dwell.     scio ubi habitas ubi sedes est Satanae et tenes nomen meum et non negasti fidem meam et in diebus Antipas testis meus fidelis qui occisus est apud vos ubi Satanas habitat

14.    But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to throw a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality.     But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.     αλλ εχω κατα σου ολιγα οτι εχεις εκει κρατουντας την διδαχην βαλααμ ος εδιδασκεν  τω βαλακ βαλειν σκανδαλον ενωπιον των υιων ισραηλ φαγειν ειδωλοθυτα και πορνευσαι     `But I have against thee a few things: That thou hast there those holding the teaching of Balaam, who did teach Balak to cast a stumbling-block before the sons of Israel, to eat idol-sacrifices, and to commit whoredom;     sed habeo adversus te pauca quia habes illic tenentes doctrinam Balaam qui docebat Balac mittere scandalum coram filiis Israhel edere et fornicari

15.    So you also have some who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans likewise{TR reads "which I hate" instead of "likewise"}.     So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate.     ουτως εχεις και συ κρατουντας την διδαχην [των] νικολαιτων ομοιωσ     so hast thou, even thou, those holding the teaching of the Nicolaitans -- which thing I hate.     ita habes et tu tenentes doctrinam Nicolaitarum

16.    Repent therefore, or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of my mouth.     Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.     μετανοησον ουν ει δε μη ερχομαι σοι ταχυ και πολεμησω μετ αυτων εν τη ρομφαια του στοματος μου     `Reform! and if not, I come to thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.     similiter paenitentiam age si quo minus venio tibi cito et pugnabo cum illis in gladio oris mei

17.    He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. To him who overcomes, to him I will give of the hidden manna,{Manna is supernatural food, named after the Hebrew for "What is it?". See Exodus 11:7-9.} and I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written, which no one knows but he who receives it.     He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.     ο εχων ους ακουσατω τι το πνευμα λεγει ταις εκκλησιαις τω νικωντι δωσω αυτω  του μαννα του κεκρυμμενου και δωσω αυτω ψηφον λευκην και επι την ψηφον ονομα καινον γεγραμμενον ο ουδεις οιδεν ει μη ο λαμβανων     He who is having an ear -- let him hear what the Spirit saith to the assemblies: To him who is overcoming, I will give to him to eat from the hidden manna, and will give to him a white stone, and upon the stone a new name written, that no one knew except him who is receiving it.     qui habet aurem audiat quid Spiritus dicat ecclesiis vincenti dabo ei manna absconditum et dabo illi calculum candidum et in calculo nomen novum scriptum quod nemo scit nisi qui accipit

18.    "To the angel of the assembly in Thyatira write: "The Son of God, who has his eyes like a flame of fire, and his feet are like burnished brass, says these things:     And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;     και τω αγγελω της εν θυατειροις εκκλησιας γραψον ταδε λεγει ο υιος του θεου ο εχων τους οφθαλμους αυτου ως φλογα πυρος και οι ποδες αυτου ομοιοι χαλκολιβανω     `And to the messenger of the assembly of Thyatira write: These things saith the Son of God, who is having his eyes as a flame of fire, and his feet like to fine brass;     et angelo Thyatirae ecclesiae scribe haec dicit Filius Dei qui habet oculos ut flammam ignis et pedes eius similes orichalco

19.    "I know your works, your love, faith, service, patient endurance, and that your last works are more than the first.     I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.     οιδα σου τα εργα και την αγαπην και την πιστιν και την διακονιαν και την υπομονην σου και τα εργα σου τα εσχατα πλειονα των πρωτων     I have known thy works, and love, and ministration, and faith, and thy endurance, and thy works -- and the last are more than the first.     novi opera tua et caritatem et fidem et ministerium et patientiam tuam et opera tua novissima plura prioribus

20.    But I have this against you, that you tolerate your{TR, NU read "that" instead of "your"} woman, Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. She teaches and seduces my servants to commit sexual immorality, and to eat things sacrificed to idols.     Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.     αλλα εχω κατα σου οτι αφεισ την γυναικα ιεζαβελ η   λεγουσα εαυτην προφητιν και διδασκει και πλανα τουσ εμους δουλους πορνευσαι και φαγειν ειδωλοθυτα     `But I have against thee a few things: That thou dost suffer the woman Jezebel, who is calling herself a prophetess, to teach, and to lead astray, my servants to commit whoredom, and idol-sacrifices to eat;     sed habeo adversus te quia permittis mulierem Hiezabel quae se dicit propheten docere et seducere servos meos fornicari et manducare de idolothytis

21.    I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality.     And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.     και εδωκα αυτη χρονον ινα μετανοηση και ου θελει μετανοησαι εκ της πορνειας αυτης      and I did give to her a time that she might reform from her whoredom, and she did not reform;     et dedi illi tempus ut paenitentiam ageret et non vult paeniteri a fornicatione sua

22.    Behold, I will throw her into a bed, and those who commit adultery with her into great oppression, unless they repent of her works.     Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.     ιδου βαλλω αυτην εις κλινην και τους μοιχευοντας μετ αυτης εις θλιψιν μεγαλην εαν μη μετανοησωσιν εκ των εργων αυτησ     lo, I will cast her into a couch, and those committing adultery with her into great tribulation -- if they may not repent of their works,     ecce mitto eam in lectum et qui moechantur cum ea in tribulationem maximam nisi paenitentiam egerint ab operibus eius

23.    I will kill her children with Death, and all the assemblies will know that I am he who searches the minds and hearts. I will give to each one of you according to your deeds.     And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.     και τα τεκνα αυτης αποκτενω εν θανατω και γνωσονται πασαι αι εκκλησιαι οτι εγω ειμι ο εραυνων νεφρους και καρδιας και δωσω υμιν εκαστω κατα τα εργα υμων     and her children I will kill in death, and know shall all the assemblies that I am he who is searching reins and hearts; and I will give to you -- to each -- according to your works.     et filios eius interficiam in morte et scient omnes ecclesiae quia ego sum scrutans renes et corda et dabo unicuique vestrum secundum opera vestra

24.    But to you I say, to the rest who are in Thyatira, as many as don't have this teaching, who don't know what some call 'the deep things of Satan,' to you I say, I am not putting any other burden on you.     But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.     υμιν δε λεγω τοισ λοιποις τοις εν θυατειροις οσοι ουκ εχουσιν την διδαχην ταυτην οιτινες ουκ εγνωσαν τα βαθεα του σατανα ως λεγουσιν ου βαλλω εφ υμας αλλο βαρος     `And to you I say, and to the rest who are in Thyatira, as many as have not this teaching, and who did not know the depths of the Adversary, as they say; I will not put upon you other burden;     vobis autem dico ceteris qui Thyatirae estis quicumque non habent doctrinam hanc qui non cognoverunt altitudines Satanae quemadmodum dicunt non mittam super vos aliud pondus

25.    Nevertheless, hold that which you have firmly until I come.     But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.     πλην ο εχετε κρατησατε <αχρισ> ου αν ηξω     but that which ye have -- hold ye, till I may come;     tamen id quod habetis tenete donec veniam

26.    He who overcomes, and he who keeps my works to the end, to him I will give authority over the nations.     And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:     και ο νικων και ο τηρων αχρι τελους τα εργα μου δωσω αυτω εξουσιαν επι των εθνων     and he who is overcoming, and who is keeping unto the end my works, I will give to him authority over the nations,     et qui vicerit et qui custodierit usque in finem opera mea dabo illi potestatem super gentes

27.    He will rule them with a rod of iron, shattering them like clay pots;{Psalm 2:9} as I also have received of my Father:     And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.     και ποιμανει αυτους εν ραβδω σιδηρα ως τα σκευη τα κεραμικα συντριβεται ως καγω ειληφα παρα του πατρος μου     and he shall rule them with a rod of iron -- as the vessels of the potter they shall be broken -- as I also have received from my Father;     et reget illas in virga ferrea tamquam vas figuli confringentur

28.    and I will give him the morning star.     And I will give him the morning star.     και δωσω αυτω τον αστερα τον πρωινον     and I will give to him the morning star.     sicut et ego accepi a Patre meo et dabo illi stellam matutinam

29.    He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies.     He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.     ο εχων ους ακουσατω τι το πνευμα λεγει ταις εκκλησιαις     He who is having an ear -- let him hear what the Spirit saith to the assemblies.     qui habet aurem audiat quid Spiritus dicat ecclesiis
