1.    I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth have passed away, and the sea is no more.     And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.     και ειδον ουρανον καινον και γην καινην ο γαρ πρωτος ουρανος και η πρωτη γη απηλθαν  και η θαλασσα ουκ εστιν ετι     And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth did pass away, and the sea is not any more;     et vidi caelum novum et terram novam primum enim caelum et prima terra abiit et mare iam non est
 
2.    I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready like a bride adorned for her husband.     And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.     και  την πολιν την αγιαν ιερουσαλημ καινην ειδον καταβαινουσαν  εκ του ουρανου απο του θεου ητοιμασμενην ως νυμφην κεκοσμημενην τω ανδρι αυτης     and I, John, saw the holy city -- new Jerusalem -- coming down from God out of the heaven, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband;     et civitatem sanctam Hierusalem novam vidi descendentem de caelo a Deo paratam sicut sponsam ornatam viro suo
 
3.    I heard a loud voice out of heaven saying, "Behold, God's dwelling is with people, and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.     And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.     και ηκουσα φωνης μεγαλης εκ του θρονου λεγουσης ιδου η σκηνη του θεου μετα των ανθρωπων και σκηνωσει μετ αυτων και αυτοι λαοι αυτου εσονται και αυτος ο θεος μετ αυτων εσται [αυτων θεοσ]     and I heard a great voice out of the heaven, saying, `Lo, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will tabernacle with them, and they shall be His peoples, and God Himself shall be with them -- their God,     et audivi vocem magnam de throno dicentem ecce tabernaculum Dei cum hominibus et habitabit cum eis et ipsi populus eius erunt et ipse Deus cum eis erit eorum Deus
 
4.    He will wipe away from them every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. The first things have passed away."     And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.     και εξαλειψει  παν δακρυον εκ των οφθαλμων αυτων και ο θανατος ουκ εσται ετι ουτε πενθος ουτε κραυγη ουτε πονος ουκ εσται ετι [οτι] τα πρωτα απηλθαν     and God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes, and the death shall not be any more, nor sorrow, nor crying, nor shall there be any more pain, because the first things did go away.`     et absterget Deus omnem lacrimam ab oculis eorum et mors ultra non erit neque luctus neque clamor neque dolor erit ultra quae prima abierunt
 
5.    He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." He said, "Write, for these words of God are faithful and true."     And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.     και ειπεν ο καθημενος επι τω θρονω ιδου καινα  ποιω παντα και λεγει γραψον οτι ουτοι οι λογοι  πιστοι και αληθινοι εισιν     And He who is sitting upon the throne said, `Lo, new I make all things; and He saith to me, `Write, because these words are true and stedfast;`     et dixit qui sedebat in throno ecce nova facio omnia et dicit scribe quia haec verba fidelissima sunt et vera
 
6.    He said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give freely to him who is thirsty from the spring of the water of life.     And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.     και ειπεν μοι γεγοναν  εγω  [ειμι] το αλφα και το ω η αρχη και το τελος εγω τω διψωντι δωσω εκ της πηγης του υδατος της ζωης δωρεαν     and He said to me, `It hath been done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End; I, to him who is thirsting, will give of the fountain of the water of the life freely;     et dixit mihi factum est ego sum Alpha et Omega initium et finis ego sitienti dabo de fonte aquae vivae gratis
 
7.    He who overcomes, I will give him these things. I will be his God, and he will be my son.     He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.     ο νικων κληρονομησει ταυτα και εσομαι αυτω θεος και αυτος εσται μοι υιος     he who is overcoming shall inherit all things, and I will be to him -- a God, and he shall be to me -- the son,     qui vicerit possidebit haec et ero illi Deus et ille erit mihi filius
 
8.    But for the cowardly, unbelieving, sinners, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers,{The word for "sorcerers" here also includes users of potions and drugs.} idolaters, and all liars, their part is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death."     But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.     τοισ δε δειλοισ και απιστοις και  εβδελυγμενοις και φονευσιν και πορνοις και φαρμακοισ και ειδωλολατραις και πασιν τοις ψευδεσιν το μερος αυτων εν τη λιμνη τη καιομενη πυρι και θειω ο εστιν ο θανατος ο δευτεροσ     and to fearful, and unstedfast, and abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all the liars, their part is in the lake that is burning with fire and brimstone, which is a second death.`     timidis autem et incredulis et execratis et homicidis et fornicatoribus et veneficis et idolatris et omnibus mendacibus pars illorum erit in stagno ardenti igne et sulphure quod est mors secunda
 
9.    One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls, who were loaded with the seven last plagues came, and he spoke with me, saying, "Come here. I will show you the wife, the Lamb's bride."     And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.     και ηλθεν  εις εκ των επτα αγγελων των εχοντων τας επτα φιαλας των γεμοντων των επτα πληγων των εσχατων και ελαλησεν μετ εμου λεγων δευρο δειξω σοι την  νυμφην την γυναικα του αρνιου     And there came unto me one of the seven messengers, who have the seven vials that are full of the seven last plagues, and he spake with me, saying, `Come, I will shew thee the bride of the Lamb -- the wife,`     et venit unus de septem angelis habentibus fialas plenas septem plagis novissimis et locutus est mecum dicens veni ostendam tibi sponsam uxorem agni

15.    He who spoke with me had for a measure, a golden reed, to measure the city, its gates, and its walls.     And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.     και ο λαλων μετ εμου ειχεν μετρον καλαμον χρυσουν ινα μετρηση την πολιν και τους πυλωνας αυτης και το τειχος αυτησ     And he who is speaking with me had a golden reed, that he may measure the city, and its gates, and its wall;     et qui loquebatur mecum habebat mensuram harundinem auream ut metiretur civitatem et portas eius et murum
 
16.    The city lies foursquare, and its length is as great as its breadth. He measured the city with the reed, Twelve thousand twelve stadia{12,012 stadia = or 2,221 kilometers or 1,380 miles. TR reads 12,000 stadia instead of 12,012 stadia.}. Its length, breadth, and height are equal.     And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.     και η πολις τετραγωνος κειται και το μηκος αυτης  οσον [και] το πλατος και εμετρησεν την πολιν τω καλαμω επι σταδιων δωδεκα χιλιαδων το μηκος και το πλατος και το υψος αυτης ισα εστιν     and the city lieth square, and the length of it is as great as the breadth; and he did measure the city with the reed -- furlongs twelve thousand; the length, and the breadth, and the height, of it are equal;     et civitas in quadro posita est et longitudo eius tanta est quanta et latitudo et mensus est civitatem de harundine per stadia duodecim milia longitudo et latitudo et altitudo eius aequalia sunt
 
17.    Its wall is one hundred forty-four cubits,{144 cubits is about 65.8 meters or 216 feet} by the measure of a man, that is, of an angel.     And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.     και εμετρησεν το τειχος αυτης εκατον τεσσερακοντα τεσσαρων πηχων μετρον ανθρωπου ο εστιν αγγελου     and he measured its wall, an hundred forty-four cubits, the measure of a man, that is, of the messenger;     et mensus est murus eius centum quadraginta quattuor cubitorum mensura hominis quae est angeli
 
18.    The construction of its wall was jasper. The city was pure gold, like pure glass.     And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.     και η ενδωμησισ του τειχους αυτης ιασπις και η πολις χρυσιον καθαρον ομοιον  υαλω καθαρω     and the building of its wall was jasper, and the city is pure gold -- like to pure glass;     et erat structura muri eius ex lapide iaspide ipsa vero civitas auro mundo simile vitro mundo
 
19.    The foundations of the city's wall were adorned with all kinds of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire{or, lapis lazuli}; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald;     And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. 21.    The twelve gates were twelve pearls. Each one of the gates was made of one pearl. The street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.     And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.     και οι δωδεκα πυλωνες δωδεκα μαργαριται ανα εις εκαστος των πυλωνων ην εξ ενος μαργαριτου και η πλατεια της πολεως χρυσιον καθαρον ως υαλοσ διαυγησ     And the twelve gates are twelve pearls, each several one of the gates was of one pearl; and the broad-place of the city is pure gold -- as transparent glass.     et duodecim portae duodecim margaritae sunt per singulas et singulae portae erant ex singulis margaritis et platea civitatis aurum mundum tamquam vitrum perlucidum
 
22.    I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God, the Almighty, and the Lamb, are its temple.     And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.     και ναον ουκ ειδον εν αυτη ο γαρ κυριος ο θεος ο παντοκρατωρ ναος αυτης εστιν και το αρνιον     And a sanctuary I did not see in it, for the Lord God, the Almighty, is its sanctuary, and the Lamb,     et templum non vidi in ea Dominus enim Deus omnipotens templum illius est et agnus
 
23.    The city has no need for the sun, neither of the moon, to shine, for the very glory of God illuminated it, and its lamp is the Lamb.     And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.     και η πολις ου χρειαν εχει του ηλιου ουδε της σεληνης ινα φαινωσιν αυτη η γαρ δοξα του θεου εφωτισεν αυτην και ο λυχνος αυτης το αρνιον     and the city hath no need of the sun, nor of the moon, that they may shine in it; for the glory of God did lighten it, and the lamp of it is the Lamb;     et civitas non eget sole neque luna ut luceant in ea nam claritas Dei inluminavit eam et lucerna eius est agnus
 
24.    The nations will walk in its light. The kings of the earth bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.     And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.     και περιπατησουσιν τα εθνη δια του φωτοσ   αυτης και οι βασιλεις της γης φερουσιν την δοξαν   αυτων εις αυτην     and the nations of the saved in its light shall walk, and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it,     et ambulabunt gentes per lumen eius et reges terrae adferent gloriam suam et honorem in illam
 
25.    Its gates will in no way be shut by day (for there will be no night there),     And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.     και οι πυλωνες αυτης ου μη κλεισθωσιν ημερας νυξ γαρ ουκ εσται εκει     and its gates shall not at all be shut by day, for night shall not be there;     et portae eius non cludentur per diem nox enim non erit illic
 
26.    and they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it so that they may enter.     And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.     και οισουσιν την δοξαν και την τιμην των εθνων εις αυτην     and they shall bring the glory and the honour of the nations into it;     et adferent gloriam et honorem gentium in illam
 
27.    There will in no way enter into it anything profane, or one who causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's book of life.     And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.     και ου μη εισελθη εις αυτην παν κοινον και [ο] ποιων βδελυγμα και ψευδος ει μη οι γεγραμμενοι εν τω βιβλιω της ζωης του αρνιου     and there may not at all enter into it any thing defiling and doing abomination, and a lie, but -- those written in the scroll of the life of the Lamb.     nec intrabit in ea aliquid coinquinatum et faciens abominationem et mendacium nisi qui scripti sunt in libro vitae agni
