| 6. * | Day, but man doth transgress all bounds, | Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening | No but that truly the human/mankind tyrannizes/exceeds the limit (E). | kla an alansan lyTGi | |||
| 7. * | In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. | whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: | That (E) he saw/understood him(self), he enriched/sufficed (himself). | an rah astGni | |||
| 8. * | Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). | for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 4 | That truly to your Lord (is) the return. | an ali rbk alrj`i | |||
| 9. * | Seest thou one who forbids- | HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent | Did you see/understand who forbids/prevents? | arayt alXy ynhi | |||
| 10. * | A votary when he (turns) to pray? | a servant [of God] from praying? 5 | A worshipper/servant/slave when/if he prayed ? | `bda aXa Sli | |||
| 11. * | Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- | Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, | Did you see/understand if he was on the guidance? | arayt an kan `li alhdi | |||
| 12. * | Or enjoins Righteousness? | or is concerned with God-consciousness? 6 | Or he ordered/commanded with the fear and obedience of God? | aw amr baltqwi | |||
| 13. * | Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? | Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 7 | Did you see/understand if he lied/denied/falsified and he turned away? | arayt an kXb wtwli | |||
| 14. * | Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? | Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? | Does he not know with that (E) God sees/understands? | alm y`lm ban allh yri | |||
| 15. * | Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- | Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 8 - | No but if (E) he does not end/terminate/stop, We will pull and strike (E) by the forehead/forehead's hair. | kla lYn lm ynth lnsf`a balnaSy+ | |||

| 17. * | Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): | and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 9 | So he should call his caller. | flyd` nadyh | |||
