| 2. * | And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- | It will submit to its Lord and expire. | And listened/heard (obeyed) to its Lord, and became certain/fact/deserved. | waXnt lrbha wHqt | |||
| 3. * | And when the earth is flattened out, | The earth will be leveled. | And when/if the earth/Planet Earth was extended/spread. | waXa alarD mdt | |||
| 4. * | And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, | It will eject its contents, as it erupts. | And it threw what (is) in it, and became free. | walqt mafyha wtKlt | |||
| 5. * | And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). | It will submit to its Lord and expire. | And listened/heard (obeyed) to its Lord and became certain/fact/deserved. | waXnt lrbha wHqt | |||
| 6. * | O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. | O humans, you are irreversibly heading for a meeting with your Lord. | You, you the human/mankind, that you truly are exerting/labouring/toiling to your Lord exertion/labour/toil, so you (are) receiving/meeting Him. | yaayha alansan ank kadH ali rbk kdHa fmlaqyh | |||
| 7. * | Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, | As for the one who receives his record in his right hand, | So but who was given/brought his Book/judgment with his right (hand). | fama mn awty ktabh bymynh | |||
| 8. * | Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, | His reckoning will be easy. | So he will be counted/calculated (with an) easy account/calculation. | fswf yHasb Hsaba ysyra | |||
| 9. * | And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! | He will return to his people joyfully. | And he returns to his family/people delighted/happy. | wynqlb ali ahlh msrwra | |||
| 10. * | But he who is given his Record behind his back,- | As for the one who receives his record behind his back, | And but who was given/brought his Book/judgment behind his back. | wama mn awty ktabh wra' Zhrh | |||
| 11. * | Soon will he cry for perdition, | He will be ridden with remorse. | So he will call (for) destruction and grief. | fswf yd`w xbwra | |||
| 12. * | And he will enter a Blazing Fire. | And will burn in Hell. | And he suffers/burns blazing/inflaming (punishment). | wySli s`yra | |||
| 13. * | Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! | He used to act arrogantly among his people. | That he truly was in his family/people delighted/happy. | anh kan fy ahlh msrwra | |||
| 14. * | Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! | He thought that he will never be called to account. | That he truly thought/assumed that (E) he will never/not return. | anh Zn an ln yHwr | |||
| 15. * | Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! | Yes indeed, his Lord was Seer of him. | Yes/certainly, that truly his Lord was seeing/knowing with (of) him. | bli an rbh kan bh bSyra | |||
| 16. * | So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; | I solemnly swear by the rosy dusk. | So I do not swear/make oath with the twilight. | fla aqsm bal$fq | |||
| 17. * | The Night and its Homing; | And the night as it spreads. | And the night, and what carried/gathered/loaded. | wallyl wmawsq | |||
| 18. * | And the Moon in her fullness: | And the moon and its phases. | And the moon when/if it organized/evened/gathered. | walqmr aXa atsq | |||
| 19. * | Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. | You will move from stage to stage | You will ride/embark (E) a stage/layer/cover from/of/on a stage/layer/cover (they move from one state to another i.e. birth to death). | ltrkbn Tbqa `n Tbq | |||
| 20. * | What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- | Why do they not believe? | So why (is it) for them, they do not believe? | fmalhm layWmnwn | |||
| 21. * | And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, | And when the Quran is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate. | And when/if the Koran is read on them they, they do not prostrate? | waXa qrY `lyhm alqran laysjdwn | |||
| 22. * | But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). | This is because those who disbelieved are rejecting (the Quran). | But those who disbelieved they lie/deny/falsify. | bl alXyn kfrwa ykXbwn | |||
| 23. * | But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) | GOD is fully aware of their innermost thoughts. | And God (is) more knowing with what they comprehend/perceive/accept. | wallh a`lm bma yw`wn | |||
| 24. * | So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, | Promise them painful retribution. | So announce good news to them with (of) a painful torture. | fb$rhm b`Xab alym | |||
| 25. * | Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. | As for those who believed and led a righteous life, they receive a recompense that is well-deserved. | Except those who believed and made/did the correct/righteous deeds, for them (is) a reward not obligated/interrupted | ala alXyn amnwa w`mlwa alSalHat lhm ajr Gyr mmnwn | |||
