הוי רעים מאבדים ומפצים את־צאן מרעיתי נאם־יהוה׃ |
Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD. | Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! says Yahweh. | A curse is on the keepers who are causing the destruction and loss of the sheep of my field, says the Lord. | |||

לכן כה־אמר יהוה אלהי ישראל על־הרעים הרעים את־עמי אתם הפצתם את־ צאני ותדחום ולא פקדתם אתם הנני פקד עליכם את־רע מעלליכם נאם־ יהוה׃ |

ואני אקבץ את־שארית צאני מכל הארצות אשר־הדחתי אתם שם והשבתי אתהן על־נוהן ופרו ורבו׃ |

והקמתי עליהם רעים ורעום ולא־ייראו עוד ולא־יחתו ולא יפקדו נאם־ יהוה׃ |
And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD. | I will set up shepherds over them, who shall feed them; and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall any be lacking, says Yahweh. | And I will put over them keepers who will take care of them: never again will they be overcome with fear or be troubled, and there will not be the loss of one of them, says the Lord. | |||

הנה ימים באים נאם־יהוה והקמתי לדוד צמח צדיק ומלך מלך והשכיל ועשה משפט וצדקה בארץ׃ |

כי־גם־נביא גם־כהן חנפו גם־בביתי מצאתי רעתם נאם־יהוה׃ |

ובנבאי ירושלם ראיתי שערורה נאוף והלך בשקר וחזקו ידי מרעים לבלתי־שבו איש מרעתו היו־לי כלם כסדם וישביה כעמרה׃ |

אמרים אמור למנאצי דבר יהוה שלום יהיה לכם וכל הלך בשררות לבו אמרו לא־תבוא עליכם רעה׃ |
They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you. | They say continually to those who despise me, Yahweh has said, You shall have peace; and to everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart they say, No evil shall come on you. | They keep on saying to those who have no respect for the word of the Lord, You will have peace; and to everyone who goes on his way in the pride of his heart, they say, No evil will come to you. | |||

כי מי עמד בסוד יהוה וירא וישמע את־דברו מי־הקשיב דברי וישמע׃ |
For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it? | For who has stood in the council of Yahweh, that he should perceive and hear his word? who has marked my word, and heard it? | For which of them has knowledge of the secret of the Lord, and has seen him, and given ear to his word? which of them has taken note of his word and given attention to it? | |||

הנה סערת יהוה חמה יצאה וסער מתחולל על ראש רשעים יחול׃ |
Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked. | Behold, the storm of Yahweh, [even his] wrath, is gone forth, yes, a whirling storm: it shall burst on the head of the wicked. | See, the storm-wind of the Lord, even the heat of his wrath, has gone out, a rolling storm, bursting on the heads of the evil-doers. | |||

לא ישוב אף־יהוה עד־עשתו ועד־הקימו מזמות לבו באחרית הימים תתבוננו בה בינה׃ |
The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly. | The anger of Yahweh shall not return, until he has executed, and until he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days you shall understand it perfectly. | The wrath of the Lord will not be turned back till he has done, till he has put into effect, the purposes of his heart: in days to come you will have full knowledge of this. | |||

לא־שלחתי את־הנבאים והם רצו לא־דברתי אליהם והם נבאו׃ |
I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. | I sent not these prophets, yet they ran: I didn't speak to them, yet they prophesied. | I did not send these prophets, but they went running: I said nothing to them, but they gave out the prophet's word. | |||

ואם־עמדו בסודי וישמעו דברי את־עמי וישבום מדרכם הרע ומרע מעלליהם׃ |
But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings. | But if they had stood in my council, then had they caused my people to hear my words, and had turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings. | But if they had been in my secret, then they would have made my people give ear to my words, turning them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings. | |||

האלהי מקרב אני נאם־יהוה ולא אלהי מרחק׃ |
Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off? | Am I a God at hand, says Yahweh, and not a God afar off? | Am I only a God who is near, says the Lord, and not a God at a distance? | |||

אם־יסתר איש במסתרים ואני לא־אראנו נאם־יהוה הלוא את־השמים ואת־ הארץ אני מלא נאם־יהוה׃ |
Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD. | Can any hide himself in secret places so that I shall not see him? says Yahweh. Don't I fill heaven and earth? says Yahweh. | In what secret place may a man take cover without my seeing him? says the Lord. Is there any place in heaven or earth where I am not? says the Lord. | |||

שמעתי את אשר־אמרו הנבאים הנבאים בשמי שקר לאמר חלמתי חלמתי׃ |
I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. | I have heard what the prophets have said, who prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. | My ears have been open to what the prophets have said, who say false words in my name, saying, I have had a dream, I have had a dream, I have had a dream, | |||

עד־מתי היש בלב הנבאים נבאי השקר ונביאי תרמת לבם׃ |
How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; | How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies, even the prophets of the deceit of their own heart? | Is (my word) in the hearts of the prophets who give out false words, even the prophets of the deceit of their hearts? | |||

החשבים להשכיח את־עמי שמי בחלומתם אשר יספרו איש לרעהו כאשר שכחו אבותם את־שמי בבעל׃ |

The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD. | The prophet who has a dream, let him tell a dream; and he who has my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the straw to the wheat? says Yahweh. | If a prophet has a dream, let him give out his dream; and he who has my word, let him give out my word in good faith. הלוא כה דברי כאש נאם־יהוה וכפטיש יפצץ סלע׃ |
Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? | Isn't my word like fire? says Yahweh; and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces? | Is not my word like fire? says the Lord; and like a hammer, smashing the rock to bits? | |||

לכן הנני על־הנבאים נאם־יהוה מגנבי דברי איש מאת רעהו׃ |

הנני על־נבאי חלמות שקר נאם־יהוה ויספרום ויתעו את־עמי בשקריהם ובפחזותם ואנכי לא־שלחתים ולא צויתים והועיל לא־יועילו לעם־הזה נאם־יהוה׃ |
Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD. | Behold, I am against those who prophesy lying dreams, says Yahweh, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their vain boasting: yet I didn't send them, nor commanded them; neither do they profit this people at all, says Yahweh. | See, I am against the prophets of false dreams, says the Lord, who give them out and make my people go out of the way by their deceit and their uncontrolled words: but I did not send them or give them orders; and they will be of no profit to this people, says the Lord. | |||

וכי־ישאלך העם הזה או־הנביא או־כהן לאמר מה־משא יהוה ואמרת אליהם את־מה־משא ונטשתי אתכם נאם־יהוה׃ |
And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying, What is the burden of the LORD? thou shalt then say unto them, What burden? I will even forsake you, saith the LORD. | When this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask you, saying, What is the burden of Yahweh? Then you shall tell them, What burden! I will cast you off, says Yahweh. | And if this people, or the prophet, or a priest, questioning you, says, What word of weight is there from the Lord? then you are to say to them, You are the word, for I will not be troubled with you any more, says the Lord. | |||

והנביא והכהן והעם אשר יאמר משא יהוה ופקדתי על־האיש ההוא ועל־ ביתו׃ |
And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say, The burden of the LORD, I will even punish that man and his house. | As for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, who shall say, The burden of Yahweh, I will even punish that man and his house. | And as for the prophet and the priest and the people who say, A word of weight from the Lord! I will send punishment on that man and on his house. | |||

כה תאמרו איש על־רעהו ואיש אל־אחיו מה־ענה יהוה ומה־דבר יהוה׃ |
Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbour, and every one to his brother, What hath the LORD answered? and, What hath the LORD spoken? | You shall say everyone to his neighbor, and everyone to his brother, What has Yahweh answered? and, What has Yahweh spoken? | But this is what you are to say, every man to his neighbour and every man to his brother, What answer has the Lord given? and, What has the Lord said? | |||

ומשא יהוה לא תזכרו־עוד כי המשא יהיה לאיש דברו והפכתם את־דברי אלהים חיים יהוה צבאות אלהינו׃ |
And the burden of the LORD shall ye mention no more: for every man's word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts our God. | You shall mention the burden of Yahweh no more: for every man's own word shall be his burden; for you have perverted the words of the living God, of Yahweh of Armies our God. | And you will no longer put people in mind of the word of weight of the Lord: for every man's word will be a weight on himself; for the words of the living God, of the Lord of armies, our God, have been twisted by you. | |||

כה תאמר אל־הנביא מה־ענך יהוה ומה־דבר יהוה׃ |
Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath the LORD answered thee? and, What hath the LORD spoken? | You shall say to the prophet, What has Yahweh answered you? and, What has Yahweh spoken? | This is what you are to say to the prophet, What answer has the Lord given to you? and, What has the Lord said? | |||

ואם־משא יהוה תאמרו לכן כה אמר יהוה יען אמרכם את־הדבר הזה משא יהוה ואשלח אליכם לאמר לא תאמרו משא יהוה׃ |
But since ye say, The burden of the LORD; therefore thus saith the LORD; Because ye say this word, The burden of the LORD, and I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The burden of the LORD; | But if you say, The burden of Yahweh; therefore thus says Yahweh: Because you say this word, The burden of Yahweh, and I have sent to you, saying, You shall not say, The burden of Yahweh; | But if you say, The word of weight of the Lord; this is what the Lord has said: Because you say, The weight of the Lord, and I have sent to you, saying, You are not to say, The weight of the Lord; | |||

לכן הנני ונשיתי אתכם נשא ונטשתי אתכם ואת־העיר אשר נתתי לכם ולאבותיכם מעל פני׃ |
Therefore, behold, I, even I, will utterly forget you, and I will forsake you, and the city that I gave you and your fathers, and cast you out of my presence: | therefore, behold, I will utterly forget you, and I will cast you off, and the city that I gave to you and to your fathers, away from my presence: | For this reason, truly, I will put you completely out of my memory, and I will put you, and the town which I gave to you and to your fathers, away from before my face: | |||

ונתתי עליכם חרפת עולם וכלמות עולם אשר לא תשכח׃ |
And I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten. | and I will bring an everlasting reproach on you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten. | And I will give you a name without honour for ever, and unending shame which will never go from the memory of men. | |||
